AN: I been wanting for this chapter. Seriously, I've been looking forward to writing it. There are a few chapters of this story, that I'm eager to write. This is just one of them. I'm going to have fun with this. I hope you all enjoy reading the chapter; just as I will undoubtedly enjoy typing it.
LET'S JUMP INTO IT!
It was early in the morning, at The Institute. The X-Men had been summoned to the Danger Room; to observe how far Nightcrawler's teleporting abilities, could take him. Jack had suited up; and was now, walking down the hallway. His face remained uncovered, by his mask; as he continued to walk. He ran into Kitty and Rogue; as they stood in front of the elevator to the sub basement. It looked as though, they were talking about something. "Morning, ladies! What were we discussing?" He asked.
"Just the upcoming Sadie Hawkins dance. We were trying to figure out who to go with." Kitty informed.
"Oh yeah, that's right! I almost forgot. You guys told me that you were going to have one of those, soon." Some of the others had made mention of the dance, in passing, to Jack. "So, Rogue, are you going to ask Scott to the dance?" Jack was curious. He couldn't help but ask that question.
"Yeah! You better hurry, before Jean moves in!" Kitty teased.
This angered Rogue. It further reminded her of her inability to get close to anyone. "Listen! The last time I danced with a guy; he nearly ended up in a coma." Rogue shot back.
"But Scott knows. He won't touch you." Kitty tried to reassure her.
"No touching? Sounds like a fun way to dance, huh?" Rogue lamented. "I think I'll pass." The elevator doors, then opened up.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, Rogue! But, take it from me! Any guy, would be lucky to go with you. I know that, for a fact." Jack said, with a sincere smile. Rogue could see the honestly and friendliness; radiating from Jack's face. That, and the sparkle of his eyes, overwhelmed her. It caused Rogue to blush. She then got on the elevator, to avoid the awkward moment. Jack and Kitty entered the elevator, right after her. Kitty took notice of Rogue's reaction. She would have to remember to bring that up, later.
Before the doors closed; Jean got on the elevator, at the last second. Her alarm clock didn't go off. That's why she was running late. "Why do we have to be at this, anyways? It's just a test for Kurt." Kitty questioned.
Jean was going to answer that. But before she could, Jack interjected. "Because Kurt's our friend. And as good friends; we should want to support him." Even though this answer was acceptable; Jean added that they were a team. They should be aware of each other's strengths, and weaknesses. Rogue had heard this speech, before. It agitated her, to hear it, again. Something that was obvious, to everyone, in the elevator. The elevator came to a stop, and Rogue got off. Jean asked what was wrong with Rogue; before everyone else got off the elevator.
Kitty explained that she was upset about the dance. It bothered her, that she couldn't touch anyone. After remembering this, Jean felt bad for her. Kitty asked if Jean was going to the dance, with Duncan. Her current boyfriend. Jean responded by saying that, he thought that she was. He had already bought the tickets, in advance. But, she was considering not going with him. In truth, she was thinking about asking Scott.
When the X-Men made it to the Danger Room; they saw everyone gathered around some equipment, and control consoles. There was a boy, of native American descent, working on a harness. His name was Forge. He was a friend to the X-Men; and, a fellow Mutant. He had the ability to build any machine. This made him, kind of a super genius. His arm had morphed into a welder; allowing him to put the finishing touches, on his latest gizmo. It was a harness; made specifically for Nightcrawler.
"I got so excited, when I dreamt this up. Soon, Kurt, you'll be zapping, anywhere on the globe." Forge declared.
Kurt had on, a helmet, a gas mask; and other protective gear. "But, 2 miles is my limit. And I have to see, or know where I'm going." Nightcrawler reminded the young genius.
"Yeah, but this baby's going to change that." Added Forge. Kurt asked what the harness was supposed to do. The Professor explained that Forge believed that whenever Kurt teleports; he is actually passing through another dimension. The device was meant to slow Kurt down, while he was in that dimension. That way, they could both, gather information on the other dimension; and use that knowledge to improve Kurt's abilities. They strapped the harness on Nightcrawler; and punched in a few commands.
Kurt would only be in that dimension, for a few seconds. The Professor advised Scott, to make sure that Kurt's gas mask was secure. The smoke that is left behind, whenever Kurt teleports; indicated that the atmosphere of the other dimension, could be toxic. Forge had an old laboratory, at school. He told Kurt to try teleporting there. It was further than he's ever gone, before. Plus, there would most likely, be no one there, to see Nightcrawler's arrival.
With the help of the new device, Nightcrawler teleported to the other dimension. It was all, fire and brimstone. Kurt didn't think that anything could survive in a place like that. But, unknown to him; he was being watched, by strange creatures. He made it, to the old lab. He radioed The Institute; before teleporting home. However, after he departed; a dimensional tear appeared. This tear led back to the other dimension.
Later, at school; Kurt was excited about his experience, traveling through the other dimension. He couldn't wait to go, again. He was walking down the hallways, with Scott. The conversation shifted to Kurt asking Scott, who he was going to the dance with. He had a feeling, that Jean was going to ask him. But Scott denied that. He said that she was going with Duncan. Although, Kurt remained sure, that Jean was going to ask him.
Scott decided to turn the tables, by asking Kurt; if the girl in his math class, was going to ask him to the dance. Her name was Amanda Sefton. Kurt heard rumors that she liked him; but, she often came off as, shy. In all honesty, he really liked Amanda. He hoped, that she would ask him to the dance. The rest of the day went, as usual. Kitty asked Lance to the dance. Which he accepted, a little too eagerly. Amanda did end up asking Kurt to the dance. He happily accepted.
At lunch time, Jean was approaching the table, that Scott was sitting at. She was going to ask him to the dance. But unfortunately, another girl swooped in; and beat her to the punch. Rogue was watching the whole thing, with her friend, Risty Wilde. She was a girl, who had a similar taste in makeup, as Rogue. Risty teased Rogue, about missing her chance with Scott. But Rogue played it off, as though it didn't bother her.
Risty then suggested that they should just go to the dance, together, as friends. Seeing as she had no better options, Rogue agreed to that. Kitty eventually caught up to Rogue, while she was alone. She wondered if she got over her initial fears; and asked Scott to the dance. Rogue told her that it wouldn't matter. He was already going, with some other girl. Then a thought popped into Kitty's head. "What about Jack? Why don't you just go with him?"
Rogue stopped, in her tracks; and then turned, to face her. "Are you serious? No way!"
"Why not? I mean, the chemistry between you two, is clear. You like him. And I'm pretty sure he likes you."
Rogue was trying to think of an excuse. "We don't even go to the same school."
"Is that all that's stopping you?"
"Besides, whatever you think is going on, between us; you're just imagining it." Rogue defended.
"Rogue, you turned as red as a strawberry; when you saw Jack, earlier this morning." Kitty saw that Rogue was still trying to fight her, on this. "Fine! But just, know this! At the moment, you're juggling two cuties. Scott and Jean, already like each other. They're just too nervous to say anything about it. Whereas Jack, on the other hand; seems to care about you, a great deal. Ever since your first meeting, he's tried to be there, for you. He's been your friend. At times, he may have also acted as your protector.
But, it's obvious that he cares about you. Maybe, in the way that you want to be cared about. My advice, don't let a good thing pass you by! You may never forgive yourself, if you do." With those last words spoken, Kitty started to walk away. She had given Rogue, a lot to think about.
Unknown to anybody else; those dimensional tears, that Kurt accidentally opened up, were still very much open. A creature tried to claw its way through; until it finally gave up, for the moment.
Jack was back at The Institute, with the others. Word had reached him, about today's events. He heard about who all, was going to the dance. He was happy for Kurt and Kitty. It was nice to know that his friends; got to go with the people, that they wanted to be with. Although, it saddened him, to know that Rogue had to go, dateless. To him, that seemed neither right, nor fair. He also heard about the creatures, that were stalking Kurt, in the other dimension.
Everyone was in the sub basement; as they saw a video, of these creatures. The Professor wanted to run more tests. But Kurt was too afraid to go back to the other dimension. He didn't want to come across those creatures. Logan said that he would go with him, for extra protection. Kurt was hesitant to agree to this; but, he eventually went along with the idea. He and Logan were both outfitted with the protective gear; and were linked by a tether. They were going to slow Kurt down, a little more, this time. Just so they could get more data.
When they teleported to the other dimension; they got a better look at the creatures. They looked like huge reptiles. Not Godzilla big. More like, Velociraptor big. Wolverine pulled out his claws. The reptiles chased them, until they were overhead. One of them latched on to the tether, and pulled them down. Wolverine was left with no choice, but to cut the tether. They had to climb up, one of the rock formations; just to get away from the reptiles.
Wolverine engaged them, in combat; while Nightcrawler continued to climb. Eventually, the Mutants became surrounded. Thankfully, they were teleported out of that dimension; before anything worse could happen. They then landed in the school's gym. Those lizards managed to scratch up Logan's uniform, during the fight. Kurt was quickly taking off his equipment. This whole experience, traumatized him. So much so, that he swore off teleporting, all together.
Logan called Charles, for a pickup. They wouldn't be going back, the same way that they left. A small dimensional tear, was beginning to open, right behind them. They were too preoccupied to notice. Charles and Forge showed up, to give them a ride home. Forge kept trying to persuade Kurt to go back to the other dimension. He wanted to gather more information on the place. Kurt refused. Forge promised that he could make it safe for him.
But The Professor said that they wouldn't force Kurt to go back. Nothing was worth risking his safety. That put Kurt's mind, at ease. He didn't think that he could teleport, anymore. It rattled him, too much. The Professor reassured him, that those creatures posed no threat to him; so long as he teleported, normally.
He moves through their dimension, far to quickly; for them to even notice him. Wolverine asked if those creatures could have followed Kurt, to their world. Forge said that the only way that could be possible; was if Kurt's dimensional gates didn't close, all the way. But, the odds of that happening, were pretty slim.
Autobot Base
Jack was telling his friends about what happened, today. Miko found the whole thing, with the giant lizards, interesting. But, what she really wanted to talk about, was the school dance. "Wait a minute! You mean, Rogue's going to the dance, by herself? Dude, you should go with her."
"What?" Jack responded.
"You heard me. A certain Southern Belle, needs a dance partner. Go with!"
Jack blushed, a bit; at hearing Miko's description of Rogue. "We don't even go to the same school. And...even if I wanted to, she didn't ask me."
"So what? You like her. I know you do."
"She's a friend. Of course I care about her." Jack defended.
"Jack, me and Raf are your friends. We know you care about us. But, it's different with Rogue. It goes beyond just caring about her. You have feelings for her. I know I'm right. I saw the way you two are, whenever you're around each other." Miko could see that Jack was still resisting. She was going to have to step it up, a notch.
"Jack, this isn't like Sierra. You have a real connection, to this girl. It's, your heart breaking, whenever she's sad. Or, that feeling of the room, lighting up; when she walks through a door. Tell me you don't have, even the slightest bit of interest, in her; and I'll let it go." She waited for Jack to tell her otherwise. But, no matter how hard he tried; he couldn't muster up the courage, to say those words. Miko could see it. She had him. "And besides, are you really okay with knowing that one of your friends is unhappy. Especially, if there was something you could have done about it?"
Jack started to leave, after that statement. "Jack, where are you going?" Asked Raf.
Jack stopped, turned his head towards Raf, and spoke. "There's somewhere I have to be, right now." He then continued to walk away. Miko smiled at this.
"I don't get it. Where's he going?" Raf questioned Miko.
"To get the girl." She answered, simply; before going after Jack. She wasn't going to miss this. Jack went to a rental store; and rented a suit, for the dance. He got home, and tried it on. It was a simple suit. It consisted of a black blazer. A white dress shirt. Complete with a black tie, black pants, and shoes. He did add his own finishing touch, to the outfit, though. He was wearing the same black leather, fingerless gloves; that Rogue got him, for Christmas.
When June got home; she saw Miko and Jack, in the living room. Jack was wearing a nice black suit; and was currently, straightening his tie. "Where are you off to, dressed like that?" His mom asked.
"Just a school dance. Don't wait up!" He responded, before leaving.
This was a surprise for June. Jack never showed an interest in going to any of the school dances. "I didn't even know there was a school dance, tonight."
"There isn't. At least, not here. But, there is a certain girl, in Bayville, waiting for him." Miko answered.
"What girl?" June's curiosity, had been peaked.
"Rogue." Miko told her.
"Rogue?" June repeated. Miko nodded her head, in confirmation. June had met Rogue, before; and she was told about her. But, she wouldn't have guessed that she, and her son; were anything close to resembling, a couple. Clearly, she would have to talk to Jack, when he got home.
Bayville
Most of the kids, were having fun, at the dance. Principal Kelly was chaperoning. Even members of the Brotherhood, were attending. Jean wasn't enjoying herself, very much. She ended up going with Duncan. Apparently, he was too busy, hanging out with his friends; to even pay attention to his date. Jean also saw Scott, dancing with the same girl; who he came with. A girl, who wasn't her. It made her, a little jealous.
Kurt felt awkward. He was able to modify his Image Inducer; to add a suit, to his typical disguise. But that did nothing for how it would feel to physically touch him. He had to wear gloves; just so Amanda wouldn't notice that he had three fingers, instead of five. He made an excuse; saying that it was because of a rash.
But, Amanda didn't mind. She was a good sport, about it. She was just happy to be here, with him. Unknown to Kurt, or anyone else; a creature from the other dimension, managed to come through the tear that he left behind, in Forge's old lab. It was currently, making its way through the school.
Back at the gym, Rogue arrived. She was wearing her typical black gloves; with a transparent, long sleeved, orange shirt. Red pants, a black choker, around her neck. Complete with black boots; and a great top, worn over her shirt. It stopped, just above the top, of her lower torso. She met up with Risty, who linked her arm with hers; and then dragged her onto the dance floor. Rogue felt a hand on her shoulder; stopping her, in her tracks. She turned around, to see who it was. She was surprised to see the answer to that question.
Standing before her, was Jack; wearing a nice black suit. "Mind if I cut in?" He asked, with a friendly smile.
"Jack, what are you doing here?" Rogue inquired.
"Actually, I came for you. I know you didn't have a date. And I know it's kind of last minute. But, I was hoping, that you might be able to spare a dance. As to how I got here. I believe that's something to be shared, only between friends." His gaze drifted towards Risty. "I'm sorry! I don't believe we've met."
Realization dawned on Rogue. "Oh, sorry! Jack, this is Risty Wilde. Risty, this is Jack Darby." She introduced them, to each other.
Jack shook Rusty's hand, in greeting. "It's nice to meet you, Risty!" He said.
"You too." She said, with slightly less enthusiasm.
"Could I steal her away, just for one dance?" Jack asked, in regards to Rogue. Risty said it was okay. But, that didn't stop her from glaring at Jack; as he took Rogue's hand, and walked away.
"So, how did you get here?" Inquired Rogue.
"Well, I didn't have a ticket. So, after I Ground Bridged here; I called Kitty, and got her to sneak me in. No one ever expects you to walk right through a wall."
"You did all this, just for me?" Questioned Rogue.
"Of course." He responded. Just then, the DJ switched to a slow song. "May I have this dance?" Jack asked, as he held out his hand, and waited for Rogue to take it. She hesitated, for a moment; but eventually, accepted his offered hand. He then led her, onto the dance floor. They each held a hand; while she rested her other hand, on his shoulder. Jack brought his remaining arm, to Rogue's lower back.
"You're wearing the gloves, I got you?" Rogue finally took notice of this.
"Yeah. I thought they threw the outfit together, rather nicely." He answered. Rogue blushed a little, at this. Jack and Rogue started dancing, as the song began to play.
Insert: You had me at hello, by A day to remember
I'm missing you so much, I'll say you died tonight
Just so I can get to you before the sun will rise
I know these times are hard and I feel this, too
But none of that ever seems to matter when I'm holding you
And I'm wasting away, away from you
And I'm wasting away, away from you
What have I gotten into this time around?
I know that I had sworn I'd never trust anyone again
But I didn't have to, you had me at hello
I've never seen a smile that can light the room like yours
It's simply radiant and I see it more with every day that goes by
I'll watch the clock to make my timing just right
Would it be okay, would it be okay if I took your breath away?
As Jack continue to slow dance with Rogue; he couldn't help but agree with the song's lyrics. It was like they pertained, specifically, to them. He always loved it, when he got those rare moments, to see Rogue smile. When she was happy; that was her, at her very best. She was so beautiful. He just wished that she could see that, too. Maybe it was because of her powers. Her inability to touch anyone. If Jack could; he would gladly take that pain, away from her.
And I'm wasting away, away from you
And I'm wasting away, away from you
What have I gotten into this time around?
I know that I had sworn I'd never trust anyone again
But I didn't have to, you had me at hello
(You gave me butterflies at the mailbox) You had me at hello
(You gave me butterflies at the mailbox) You had me at hello
(You gave me butterflies at the mailbox) You had me at hello
(You gave me butterflies at the mailbox) You had me at hello
You gave me butterflies at the mailbox (You are so you)
You had me at hello
You gave me butterflies at the mailbox (You are so you)
You had me at hello
You gave me butterflies at the mailbox (You are so you)
You had me at hello
You gave me butterflies at the mailbox (You are so you)
You had me at hello
What have I gotten into this time around?
I know that I had sworn I'd never trust anyone again
But I didn't have to, you had me at hello
You had me at hello
You had me at hello
End: You had me at hello
When the song came to an end; Jack and Rogue, were staring into each other's eyes. Jack closed the distance, between the two of them. He got so close, that he could almost kiss her; if she allowed it. Jack knew what would happen, if their lips made contact. But, he didn't care. Miko was right. He cared for Rogue, more than a friend. He wanted, so desperately; to show her exactly, how much she meant to him.
"Jack, no!" Rogue said, as she gently pushed him away.
"You're right. I'm sorry! I mean, what was I thinking? Why would a girl, as amazing as you; go for a guy, like me?"
Sometimes, Jack was too nice of a guy, for his own good. From the moment Rogue first met him; he had been nothing but a sweetheart, to her. She didn't want him to think that he was unworthy. "It's not that. It's just-" Before she could finish; a dimensional tear, appeared between Lance and Kitty. Two lizards came crawling out of the tear. The students were panicking, and running for their lives. This gave the X-Men the opportunity, to discreetly, fight the creatures off.
One of the lizards, lunged at Kitty; only to phase right through her. Scott blasted the other one, without anyone noticing. Jean used her powers, to protect the other students. Even Lance used his abilities, on the lizards.
Amanda was scared. One of the reptiles was coming towards her, and Kurt. She begged Kurt to get them out of there. He tried to play dumb. Not wanting to reveal the secret of his powers. But Amanda revealed that she already knew about what he could do. With little choice; Kurt teleported himself, and Amanda, to safety. In the confusion; a lizard cornered two of the students. Rogue and Risty, came across this.
Risty wanted to leave. "This way!" She said, as she tugged on Rogue's arm.
"No! I can help them." Rogue declared, as she broke free of Rusty's grip. "HEY, UGLY! OVER HERE!" The lizard then ignored the two students; and paid attention to Rogue. "That's right. Look! Nice and tasty. Come and get some of this!" Rogue dared, as she took off her glove. Her plan was to absorb its strength; and make it pass out. The lizard jumped at her. But, before it could make contact; Jack tackled it, to the ground.
He threw the reptile against the lockers; and approached Rogue. "Rogue, take Risty, and get out of here! I'll deal with this." He said, as he took off his jacket, tie, and shirt. He was now, completely shirtless. "Here!" He murmured, as he handed Rogue, everything that he took off.
"What are you doing?" Asked Rogue.
"It's a rental. If I damage it, they're going to make me pay for it." Rogue took a moment to admire Jack's physique. He had a great pair of pecks, and abs. Those training sessions in the Danger Room, were really paying off. "GO!" Jack had to remind her to run. She and Risty, got out of there. With them safe; Jack could now go, all out. He and the lizard, were now, facing each other down. With a quick SNIKT sound; Jack unleashed his claws. "Come and get some, lizard lips!" Jack taunted.
The two adversaries, charged at each other. Jack tackled the lizard; and proceeded to roll around, on the ground. The lizard scratched Jack's chest, with its claws. The young Mutant, grunted, in pain. The wounds were already starting to heal. Jack retaliated, by dragging his claws across the beast's belly. The reptile staggered back. It let out a howl, summoning its allies. Then, two more lizards appeared. "Calling your friends, huh? Well, that's fine with me!" Jack taunted.
He dug his claws into one lizard's chest. He made a gash, that was so deep; that the lizard's intestines, came falling out. There was blood, pouring out of the creature. Jack had never killed anything, before. But, this was kill, or be killed. He knew that. Plus, these were wild animals, from another dimension. It wasn't like killing people. Telling himself that; was the only thing, that kept him going. One of the other reptiles, tackled him. Jack was trying to keep it off of him.
The other one, was running towards him; trying to bite at his leg. Jack saw this; and moved his leg, just in time. "NOT THE PANTS!" He yelled, before kicking the lizard away. He understood that this was a fight, to the death. But, no way was he going to let them, make him pay for damages. He used his claws; to slice off the head of the lizard, that was on top of him. He tossed the lifeless body, aside. The last reptile, jumped on Jack; and bit down, on his left arm. "AH!" Jack yelled.
It managed to take a big chunk, out of his limb. "Oh, so you want to bite, huh?" Jack then forced the lizard's mouth open. "Well, BITE THIS!" He said, as he stabbed his claws through the roof of its mouth; and right into its brain. With that, the last reptile; fell to the ground, dead. Jack took a moment to lay back, and relax. Forge and the X-Men, arrived at the scene of the massacre. They were also joined by Rogue. She had managed to lose Risty; and come back to help Jack. Not that he needed it.
Jack emerged from the pile of dead reptile bodies. There was blood, smeared on a few parts of his body. Any wounds he had received from the fight, were now healed. "Jack, are you alright? What happened?" Scott asked.
"Nothing I couldn't handle." He responded.
"Wait! So, like, you killed those things, all by yourself?" Kitty questioned.
"It was either them, or me." He remarked.
"Well...good job! I guess." Evan commented. He really wasn't sure what to say to these turn events.
Forge was carrying a type of ray gun. He advised Jack to step away from the lizard corpses. He did as he was asked; and then Forge began to explain. "This is a special ray; that was designed, specifically, to send these creatures back where they came from. I was hoping to send them back, unharmed. But, it's okay, Jack! I know you didn't have a choice." Forge blasted the corpses, and they disappear. Even the blood stained floors, were miraculously cleaned.
Jack walked over to Rogue. The sweat, on his torso; had managed to catch the light. It made his abs, look like they were glistening. Rogue couldn't help but stare. Jack wiped some of the blood, off of him. He asked for the rest of his clothes, back. This made Rogue, snap out of her trance; and hand him, his clothes. After he got dressed; he took notice of the condition, his gloves were now in. They both had, three huge slits, in them; from where his claws came out.
"Ah, Rogue! I'm sorry! I ruined them."
"No, you didn't. I can fix this." She reassured him. After that bit of awkwardness; the others went around, returning the creatures to their native dimension, before the night came to an end.
On the next day; everyone heard about Kurt's experience, with Amanda. Apparently, she knew, all along, that he was different. She even knew about his true form. But, she didn't care. She just wanted to be with him. So, he and her; were now, officially, dating. Jack was happy for his friend. If anybody deserved love, it was definitely Kurt.
Rogue and Jack; found time to talk, in The Institute. She had taken his gloves, to fix them. Now, she was returning them, to him. He took the gloves, and put them on. They still had those slits, in them. But the ripped lining; had been sewn together, along the holes. Jack brought his claws out; managing to completely avoid, damaging the gloves, any further. The repair job, was a success. "Wow!" Jack said.
"I told you that I could fix them." Rogue said, with triumph. Jack then retracted his claws. The gloves remained, unharmed. "See! Now, it looks like they were made for you."
"Thanks, Rogue!" He said.
"No problem. Listen, Jack! About what happened, last night-"
"I'm sorry, Rogue! It was my fault." Jack knew what she was referring to. She was talking about the time, that Jack almost kissed her.
"No. You didn't do anything wrong. It's just...you know what happens, when people get too close to me. I'm sure, it would have been nice." She said, while twirling a piece of her hair. She couldn't help but think about the near kiss.
"It would have been my first." He informed her.
"What?" She asked.
"Kiss. It would have been my first kiss." He clarified.
Rogue put her hand over her mouth, in surprise. To think, that Jack was actually willing to give his lip virginity, to her. "That's really sweet of you. But, you should save that; for someone, more deserving, of you. Someone special. I wouldn't want to put you in a coma, or anything."
"Would you please stop talking like that, Rogue? Stop talking like you aren't special! You are. It's not fair that you're held prisoner, by your powers. If there's one thing that The Professor teaches us; it's that we control these abilities. They don't control us." What Jack did next; caught Rogue, off guard. He wrapped his arms around her, in a hug. He was careful, not to touch any of her skin. "Don't lose hope! I know there's a way for you to overcome this, Rogue. I just know it."
After a second, or two; Rogue returned the hug. For some reason; it was okay for her to be vulnerable, with Jack. He was always so nice to her. He was there for her; and he would never hurt her. She rested her head, against his shirt covered shoulder; and allowed herself to fall apart. She knew that was okay; as long as she was in his arms. Because, he had her.
AN: I'm sorry, if this is a rather long chapter! And I'm sorry for all the line breaks! I was just trying to divide up, the segments, of the song. The reason I chose this song; was because I thought it was very romantic. That's what I was going for. I wanted to make this chapter; the perfect meld between Wolverine violence, and romance. I enjoyed writing the fight scene, with Jack, and the lizards. But, from my lips, to God's ears; I really loved writing the romance scenes, between Jack and Rogue. I'm a hopeless romantic. What are you going to do?
Remember, if you didn't like something, about this chapter; then that's all you have to say! Don't go out of your way, to be a jerk, in the reviews! Be honest, but fair!
STAY AWESOME!
