Peter regains consciousness as Happy is landing the jet. The first thing he sees when he opens his eyes is Tony still right beside him.
"Hey," Peter says, getting Tony's attention off his phone.
"Petey, baby, are you alright?" Tony asks, dropping his phone onto Peter's lap as he moves closer, which Peter did not think was possible.
"I am alright," Peter says, laying his hand on Tony's arm.
"Are you sure? Is your leg hurting?" Tony asks as Happy walks over to where Tony and Peter are sitting.
"It feels a little stiff but alright," Peter says, reaching for the controls of the chair to sit himself up. Tony grabs his wrist and stops him though.
"Let Happy look at it again," Tony says once Peter is looking at him.
"Can I sit up while he looks?" Peter asks, glancing between Tony and Happy.
"It would be alright, boss," Happy says, grabbing the first aid kit and kneeling by Peter.
"Fine," Tony says, reaching for the button himself and making it where Peter is sitting up with his feet still kicked up. Happy and Peter share a knowing smile before Happy works on removing the bandage from Peter's leg. Peter jumps slightly when he feels Tony's phone vibrate suddenly from his lap.
"Peter?" Happy asks, freezing when Peter jumps.
"I am alright. I just forgot Tony's phone was in my lap," Peter says, handing Tony his phone. Happy gave Peter a slight glare before fully removing the bandage. Meanwhile, Tony is texting with an irritated look on his face.
"Tony?" Peter asks, laying his hand on Tony's arm. Tony flinches and looks up from his phone. "Are you alright?"
"Should I not be asking you that?" Tony says, glancing towards Happy but focusing on Peter.
"I told you I am fine," Peter says, lacing his fingers with Tony's.
"Your wound has completely closed and is nothing but an angry red line," Happy says suddenly, which makes Tony quickly look down at Peter's leg.
"Thank god. I am so glad you have such an amazing healing factor," Tony says, looking back at Peter.
"I am sorry I worried you. I did not know who else to call," Peter says, letting go of Tony's hand and staring down at his lap.
"Hey," Tony says, reaching out and grabbing Peter's chin to slowly raise Peter's face. "You never apologize for asking for help. Do you understand me?" Peter frowns and does not answer.
"Peter, you did the right thing," Happy says, moving to squat next to Tony. "You were put into a dangerous situation against your will and got hurt. You did the right thing by calling me."
"What I want to know is how no one found you and took you to a doctor," Tony says. frowning at Peter's shirt. "Where did you get that shirt?"
"I was found," Peter says, putting his feet down finally.
"What do you mean? Why were you not treated by a doctor then?" Tony says, moving to sit in front of Peter.
"I woke up in jail with this shirt on," Peter says, smiling as he touches the shirt.
"You were arrested instead of helped?" Tony asks, looking madder than he was earlier.
"Yeah," Peter says hesitantly, glancing at Happy before looking back down at his lap.
"So how did you get the shirt or do you not know?" Happy asks, giving Tony a glare when Tony looks at him.
"Oh, there were these guys dressed like they were at a sports game when they were arrested in the same cell as me. They put this on me while I was still unconscious. They said I looked cold," Peter says, fiddling with the end of the shirt. Peter jumped slightly when Tony's hand suddenly grabbed his own. Peter looks up to see Tony's eyes fill with regret.
"I am sorry for sounding so harsh. I am just angry that all of this happened to you. I am grateful to those men for keeping you warm," Tony says, giving Peter a reassuring smile as he squeezes his hands. "Now, let us go and eat."
"What do you mean by going and eat?" Peter asks as Happy activates the stairs to the jet and opens the door.
"This was supposed to be a surprise for our honeymoon, but it was the closest and safest place for us to go to right now," Tony says, moving his chair back and towards the door. Peter carefully stands up and very stiffly walks over to the door.
"How are you getting down?" Peter asks, looking at the stairs before looking back at Tony. Tony just smiles at him before pulling Peter down onto his lap, which causes Peter to tense and quickly tries to get back up.
"Just stay still," Tony says, moving an arm around Peter's waist. Peter stays tense but leans into Tony and wraps his arms around Tony's neck. Tony moves the chair to the open door and then pushes a button. Peter tightens his hold on Tony when the chair begins to hover off the ground. Peter laughs though as the chair goes down the stairs without even touching them.
"You should have known it would be tricked out," Happy says, coming down the steps after Tony lowers the chair to the ground.
"I knew it would be. I just was not expecting him to make it fly," Peter says, moving to get off Tony, but Tony tightens his hold on him to stop him.
"Just stay still," Tony says, placing a small kiss on Peter's shoulder.
"I can walk on my own," Peter says as Tony starts moving away from the jet. As Peter feels the chair move, he looks around and gets the first look at his surroundings. His eyes go wide as he takes in the view around him. The first thing he sees is a small, one-story cottage-style home that has a wrap-around porch and a porch swing. Behind the house is a small lake with a bridge that crosses it. Halfway across the bridge is a small bump-out section that has a gazebo on it, and the area on the other side of the bridge is a valley filled with all kinds of wildflowers.
"Do you like it?" Tony asks, stopping next to the house so that the whole area can be seen better.
"This place is so beautiful. Where are we?" Peter asks, turning to glance at Tony but quickly going back to staring at the scenery.
"This is one of our homes. I know you always wanted to travel and see more of the world, so I had this place built. I figured we could use it as home while seeing everything we could on this side of the world. Do you like it?"
"I love it." Peter finally turns to look completely at Tony. "I love you."
"I love you too." Tony leans forward and gives Peter a deep kiss. Peter carefully lays his hand on Tony's burned arm as he leans more into Tony. They move apart when they hear Happy clear his throat behind them.
"Why do we not move inside so that we can talk about what happened and what is going to happen next?" Happy says, causing Peter to look at him in shock. He is surprised to see that amount of anger shining through Happy's eyes.
"They will be here in the morning," Tony says, tightening his hold on Peter as he moves the chair up the ramp onto the porch. Once Happy opens the door, Tony pushes it into the house. Peter smiles as he looks around at the simple-looking furniture and decor. He cannot help but chuckle when he sees the modern touches all over as well, such as the electrical panel on the wall he knows is connected to Friday.
"Hello, Friday," Peter says, smiling at Tony who looks amused yet embarrassed.
"Hello, Peter. I am glad to see your wounds are all healed," Friday's voice said from all around Peter, making him laugh. Tony slowly moves his chair to a very comfortable-looking couch and stops it next to it. Peter quickly gets off his lap and moves to help him move to the couch, but Tony stops him.
"Let me help you," Peter says, reaching out towards Tony.
"I can do it, baby," Tony says, lightly pushing Peter's hand away. He then slowly stands up and on unsteady legs moves to sit on the couch. As soon as Tony is sitting down, Peter is right beside him. "See, I told you I could."
"I know you can, Tony. I just cannot get the sight of you after theā¦," Peter says, trailing off as the emotions build up and choke him.
"I am right here," Tony says, grabbing Peter's hand and laying it against his beating heart. "I am not going anywhere." Peter nods and knows what Tony is saying is the truth, but he cannot get the image of Tony almost dead out of his head. He can feel his breathing quicken as his chest gets tight, but he tries to hide it to not scare Tony.
"Boss, Peter is experiencing a panic attack," Friday's voice says suddenly. Tony looks at Peter with wide eyes before turning to face him.
"Petey, baby, I need you to focus on me and calm down," Tony says, making Peter lock eyes with him. By this point, Peter is hyperventilating, and Happy has moved over to kneel in front of where they are sitting. "Pete, babe, please calm down. I am right here. I am safe, and so are you." After a few seconds of there being no change, Happy moves forward some and lays his hand on the middle of Peter's back, causing Peter to look towards him.
"Friday, give a breakdown on Tony's vitals and health," Happy says, locking eyes with Peter. Tony goes to say something, but Happy grabs his hand and squeezes, which stops him.
"Boss's heart rate and blood pressure are currently a little elevated due to stress, but they are within the normal range," Friday starts before slowly giving a detailed assessment of Tony's health. Tony lets out a breath he did not realize he was holding as Peter seems to relax as Friday continues talking. By the time Friday is done, Peter is back to normal and laying against Tony's chest fast asleep, one hand holding onto the shirt tightly over where the arc reactor used to be.
"How did you know what to do?" Tony asks, running his fingers through Peter's hair softly.
"When you were in your coma, he would wake up screaming before falling into a panic attack. I tried everything I could think of to try and help him. It was Friday who figured out what to do and started doing it," Happy said, moving to sit in an armchair by the couch.
"Friday figured out what to do?" Tony asks no one in particular, but Friday is the one who answers.
"Karen is the one who gave me the idea, boss. According to her, Peter occasionally had panic attacks while on patrol after the incident with the vulture. She was able to figure out that describing in detail how his health was and what was around him helped him to calm down," Friday said, causing Tony to flinch.
I should have never taken to suit from you back then, Tony thinks as he looks down at Peter's relaxed face.
"Help will be here tomorrow, and he will be safe," Happy says, seeing the sad look on Tony's face.
"I know," Tony says, laying his chin on top of Peter's head after pulling him even closer and settling back into the couch.
