Kyoko smelt disinfectant and could hear a steady beep beside her. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw that she was in the hospital. She sat up quickly pain racked her entire body. The florescent lights burning her now fully open eyes. I didn't die she thought. She remembered falling and the noise the elevator made as it fell, but she couldn't remember much after that, though she vaguely remembered being held and a song playing in the background. Was it Sho that held her? She shook that thought out of her head knowing there was absolutely no way Sho would have been that kind, it must have been a dream or more like a nightmare. She could feel her face flushing, she knew it wasn't a dream. She was starting to remember it all, being pulled down by him as they were falling, him holding her to his chest, and the elevator coming to a stop slowly. She knew he screamed profanities and all she could think was if they would fall again, and this time not stop. Would she die in her enemies arms? She felt his hands stroking her hair and he had started to sing, that was when everything went dark.
"Oh! Miss Mogami you are awake. Are you okay? Do you feel any pain?" A nurse asked as she closed the door behind her.
"I'm fine, my body hurts a little, and it feels like I just ran a marathon but other than that…" Kyoko trailed off.
"The doctor will be here in a minute, and if he doesn't find anything wrong you will be discharged." The nurse told her and continued to talk as she took the IV out and removed the pulse oximeter from her finger but Kyoko wasn't paying any attention.
Kyoko wondered who had all found out about the near death incident, she would have to tell Tsuruga, but how much should she tell him? He said that he was hers, but they weren't an item, he could think she isn't worth so much trouble, especially with the baggage she brought along. She could just let him know what happened and that she was okay, editing the whole story isn't a lie, just omitting some of the embarrassing details. Tsuruga hated Sho, with reason, and it seemed that every time Sho was brought up he would get very quiet. Maybe she should talk to Moko first, ask what she should do.
Thinking of Moko she realized she also needed to contact Director Muto and apologize for not showing up today for filming. She had a small hope that it would get her kicked from the drama so she wouldn't have to work opposite of Sho.
"Miss Mogami?" The nurse said trying to get her attention, "are you okay?"
Kyoko snapped out of her thoughts, "Oh, yeah, I'm fine."
"As I was saying, you are one lucky girl." The nurse said, and Kyoko looked at her quizically. "I mean you got to be trapped in an elevator with Sho Fuwa, he's so hot!" the nurse continued.
Kyoko rolled her eyes, yeah, I'm sure for any other girl it would be a dream come true, but for her, it was a nightmare. "Yeah, sure." She answered just to answer.
There was a knock on the door and a middle age man in a white coat peeked his head through the door. "Miss Mogami?" He asked. Kyoko nodded letting him know he was in the right place and he went in the room holding the door open for the nurse as she left. "Miss Mogami, we ran tests and nothing seems to be out of place, not even a bruise was found. You must have an angel looking out for you."
"More like a demon." Kyoko said under her breath.
"What was that?" The doctor asked, she just held her hand up and shook her head as to tell him it was nothing. "anyway, it seems that you blacked out after the incident probably from the trauma of it all. If there is any pain please take an aspirin or Tylenol, and if you start feeling any extreme pain please go to the nearest ER."
Kyoko nodded in understanding.
"Ummmm, Miss Mogami?" The doctor said shyly, "do you think maybe I can get an autograph for my daughter? She loves Box R and she would never let me off the hook if she knew I met you without asking."
Kyoko was in shock, this was the first time anyone had recognized her, let alone asked for an autograph. She could feel the blood rush to her cheeks as she blushed. "Oh, of course, I'd be happy to."
Ren rushed down the hospital corridor, President Takarada had called him about what happened to Mogami, but the news hadn't reached him until hours later. When Yashiro had finally been able to tell him what happened he canceled everything that was scheduled for the day, borrowed Yashiro's car and made his way to the hospital as quick as he could.
When he first learned the news he froze, the room started to go dark and the only thing he could see was blood and blackness. It was like he was losing Rick again. Yashiro had to snap him out of it telling him that she was fine and they took her to the hospital as a precaution because she had fainted.
He turned the corner that lead to Kyoko's room and noticed a familiar person leaning against the door frame. He was wearing a hat, face mask and sun glasses, but Ren knew who it was even without seeing the blonde hair peaking from the cap. He could feel the anger rising from his belly as he continued walking towards the door.
Ren acted like the man wasn't there and passed by him putting his hand on the door ready to open it, but Sho blocked him from opening it which enraged Ren further. Who the hell did this kid think he was stopping him from going to see Kyoko, more than anything he wanted to take him down where he stood. "What do you think you are doing here?" Ren asked Sho not even looking at him.
Sho could feel the anger radiating from Tsuruga and as much as he wanted to tell him to fuck off he knew it would be a bad idea at this point. "The Doctor just went in, and I think that you and I need to talk, though this wouldn't be the best place for it." Sho said though nervous to be alone with the man who looked like a cold blooded killer at the moment.
"That wouldn't be a good idea on your part Fuwa." Ren replied still not looking at him.
Sho wanted to brag that he was the one that saved Kyoko again, he originally wanted to rub it in his face that he was the knight and shining armor and that Ren was always late, two steps behind. But, he also agreed that it wasn't a good idea to provoke him further. "I just wanted you to know that She and I will be working together in this new drama." Sho saw shock and confusion replace the anger on Ren's face.
"What do you mean you will be working together? Does she know?" Ren asked. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut from just one sentence.
Sho just shrugged for an answer. He wasn't going to tell him that they both had just learned they would be working together. Hell he thought if it could put a rift between the two then it would be for the better, at least for him. He hated the man that was standing in front of him and felt robbed so if he could get him back it was worth the lie.
Rens gut wrenched and he felt like he was about to be sick. Did she really not tell him that she would be working with Sho? She had done it before, though it was to get ahead. Was it the same reason this time? The image of Kyoko laughing with Sho at the side entrance of Darumaya crossed his mind and the argument of when they were in the car and she defended the bastard standing in front of him. Was Kyoko's heart really opening up to the man she used to love, the man she said she was going to marry since childhood? If she hadn't told him about them working together was she hoping to get close to Sho again? They had both agreed that it wasn't a good time to be with each other at the time, but that they both belonged to each other. It was a promise between the two.
The door knob turned from the other side tearing Ren from his thoughts. "Oh, excuse us gentleman." The older man said opening the door making Ren step back.
"Oh! Tsuruga!" Kyoko said as she stepped out the door a wide smile brightening her face.
Rens gut wrenched again just to see her and smiling at him even after everything that had just happened. He wrapped his arm around her waist and started guiding her down the hall "Come on Kyoko, I'll take you home." Ren looked at the doctor and gave him one of his fake smiles "Thank you for all you've done doctor, I'll make sure she is taken care of from here." He told the doctor, but he was looking at Sho as he said it using his body to block Kyoko from her seeing him.
