Ch. 8: Totsuzen no shin'nyū part 2

Trusting Kirigiri, Ohwada and Yukimaru nodded and went with the three Fenrir members and left, leaving the rest of the Fenrir members behind, as Ikusaba, Kirigiri, Ohgami, Aoi and the Naegi siblings glanced at each other as they plan out their next move, as it is already getting darker as the time now is 19:20, and seeing that Naegi and the girls are drenched in sweat, deducing that they haven't taken a shower for the past few days, Ikusaba decided to escort them as she tells the others that there is a public bathroom nearby, which the others nodded when she suggested that they take a shower there.

"Okay."

Ikusaba then led the Naegi siblings, Kirigiri, Ohgami, and Aoi towards a nearby public bath, saying that it would be refresh themselves after spending several hours at sea, which the teen survivors nodded, but what they didn't know is that the public bathroom they are heading to is where Enoshima and Yuta are at the moment.

However, as they are on their way to the public bathroom, they accidentally came across a giant katydid, as it is looking for something to eat, and Ikusaba became defensive as she revealed that a few hours ago she happened to witness a stray civilian attempting to escape the island and she tried to persuade him to stay at the safehouse but to no avail as the civilian was selfish, and there she witnessed the giant katydid catching the civilian and consumed its prey in a slow and agonizing way.

Ikusaba was forced to shoot the giant katydid through the mouth as it is busy eating its prey via the victim's skull, and there the bullet struck the katydid through its mouth and somehow penetrated the giant insect's skull which killed it, however, the victim is fatally injured as half of its brain was consumed and he cannot be saved, thus Ikusaba was forced to perform a MERCY KILLING on the civilian by shooting him on the head.

The Naegi siblings and Aoi stared wide-eyed in horror after hearing the details, and there she told her classmates and Komaru to stick with her and not go astray, saying that their survival now rests within her as she made it clear that she won't let anyone die in front of her, which Ohgami nodded and there she told the rest of the survivors to stay hidden while Fenrir will deal with the giant katydid, which Makoto, Komaru, Kirigiri, Aoi and Ohgami nodded in acknowledgement.

"You guys wait here. Me and my fellow Fenrir members will deal with that giant insect."

"Okay."

"I'll let you know when it's safe to come out, so for now stay where you are. Got that?"

"Okay."

Ikusaba then commanded Norika, Aki, Miki, Mizushima and Kida to get the giant katydid's attention so that she would get a clear aim at the giant katydid's mouth as it is the only possible weakness in dealing the giant insect with a fatal shot, which the Fenrir members nodded in acknowledgement.

"You guys know what to do. So we got to do this right."

"Okay."

"Good. Take your positions and get ready."

"Okay."

And so the Fenrir members went ahead and produced a lot of noise to get the giant katydid's attention, and once it did, it began to follow the Fenrir members as they lead it towards the area where Ikusaba is in position, aiming the nozzle of the sniper rifle while getting a visual on where to aim as she only has one shot to make and cannot afford to miss.

Kirigiri then told Makoto, Aoi and Ohgami to be ready for anything, as she made it clear that until their fellow survivors get here and be taken to the safehouse, they will have to put their faith in Ikusaba, which her three classmates nodded in acknowledgement, seeing that Ikusaba is the only one they can trust in keeping her fellow Fenrir members in line as she was able to prevent them from misbehaving.

"Everyone. Be ready for anything. For now we would have to put our trust in Ikusaba."

"Okay."

"We'll have to do what she instructed us to do for now if we are to stay alive and escape back to the mainland."

"Okay."

As the giant katydid is in visual position, Ikusaba uses the chance and sniped the giant insect and the bullet entered the giant katydid's mouth and the bullet penetrated the head and skull, which killed the giant insect, and there the Fenrir members appeared to be celebrating, but Kirigiri told them that it is too early to celebrate as she reminded them that there are other giant insects here as she pointed out about the giant dragonflies and it is possible that there are other giant insects that are active at night.

Ikusaba agreed and said that they need to remain vigilant and not let their guard down, which the Fenrir members nodded in acknowledgement as they looked around to see of there are other giant insects prowling about.

"Guys, be on the lookout. We're still not safe given the vast number of different types of giant insects lurking."

"Okay."

"Until the others came back along with the other survivors, we'll have to hold out as long as we can."

"Okay."

Ikusaba then told her classmates and Komaru to be alert as now is crucial as they need to stay alive, which they nodded in acknowledgement, as they are determined to stay alive and find a way to escape the island they are currently in.

"Everyone. Be alert for anything. For now we would have to put up with this until my fellow Fenrir members arrive along with your fellow survivors."

"Okay."

"And once they arrive we will head for the safehouse and rest. Then we plan on how to escape the island while staying alive."

"Okay."

By then, Norika, Aki, and Miki saw something that is approaching, which revealed to be another giant katydid, and there the three Fenrir members told Ikusaba about it, and she told her fellow Fenrir members that they are going to use the same tactic, and the three Fenrir members nodded in acknowledgement, as they went into position as the giant katydid is now in plain sight.

"Okay. We use the same tactic as before. And you guys know what to do, right? So we got to do this right until Kyosuke and the others arrive."

"Okay."

"Good. Take your positions and get ready. We got to nail that bug down."

"Okay."

The scene shifts back at the public bathroom, where Enoshima and Yuta are in another section as they are drying their bodies using towels.
