Ch. 23: robotto no saisei
Minutes later, Komaru came out of one of the bedrooms where she decided to have a cup of warm milk, and she went to the dining hall to make a cup of milk and took a sip, as she is still in the process of accepting what happened in her life, as her normal school day has turned into an apocalyptic bloodbath, as zombies appeared and forced its way to her school, killing several of her schoolmates and she is one of the few to manage to escape, and now she found her way here and reunited with her elder brother, Makoto.
She also wondered what has become of her and Makoto's parents as there has been no word yet about them, and all she can do is assume that they got away safely, and she hoped that this is the case, as she could not bear to lose them after she initially thought she'd lose her elder brother, and all she can do now is spend time with Makoto as much as possible.
She then went to the balcony area and peeked at the window as she opted not to go out, and there she saw some zombies slowly passing by the condo unit she and her fellow survivors are in, and thankfully the zombies just passed the unit without stopping, and Komaru sighed and mentally wished that everything would be over and life return to normal.
She then passed by the workshop area, where she noticed Kibo is still there, standing, and a huge thick wire is attached behind his back, as he is 98% charged, and the 13-year old girl blinked her eyes as the robot seemingly bears a resemblance to Makoto, as she became more curious. She peered closer and glanced at it from head to toe, wondering if this is a dream as she read mangas about robot protagonists becoming human-like in terms of personalities.
"Is he for real…?"
In her innocent curiosity, she accidentally tripped and the wire that is connecting to Kibo's battery pack was disconnected, and Kibo stopped charging. The younger girl become worried about this and attempted to put the connection back, and when she did so, Kibo started charging again, but an unexpected situation took place, as an electrical surge happened, which caused an effect to the robot's brain, where its eyes glowed and a light spark happened, and Komaru became worried that she accidentally did something, and mumbled that nothing bad happened here.
"Please be okay…please be okay…please be okay…"
However, Kibo's eyes opened and glanced at Komaru, and then surprised her when the robot spoke for the first time, and its tone has that of an innocent boy, and Komaru blinked her eyes as Kibo spoke like an innocent, kind boy who just arrived in a world.
"Good morning."
"Eh…?"

"G-good morning…"
"Do not be afraid. I will not hurt you…please give me time to assess our current situation…"
"Huh? O-okay…"

Kibo looked around before glancing at the window and looked down at the streets, where he can see scores of zombies walking about. There he ANALYZED the situation before recalling what transpired hours before and told Komaru what he was originally programmed to do before gaining before his own sentience.
Komaru stared in awe and told Kibo what happened earlier in the day, and Kibo nodded, saying that this is indeed a phenomenon that needs a lot of answers to address, and said that for now he would ask his CREATOR to give him additional weapons if he were to clear a path to remove all zombies blocking his way.
"Really?"
"Yes. I must ask my master to install me additional weapons if I were to effectively deal with the zombies."
"…"
"So then… "
"?"
"Where is my master?"
"Um…can I ask you something ?"
"…"
Komaru then asked if he is okay given the accidental jolt the robot got, bit Kibo assured to her that he is okay now and he would ask Iruma later to give her a lithium ion battery to help him last for at least three days before needing to recharge, and Komaru nodded as she said that right now Iruma is asleep, unaware that Iruma is inside the bathroom, having a PRIVATE SESSION with Akamatsu.
Kibo then suggested that they leave Iruma alone for now as she is said to be resting, which Komaru agreed, and there Komaru told Kibo about what would happen if a zombie bites a person, and Kibo slowly understood the effects of whoever gets infected.

There Komaru told Iruma what happened, and this made the SHSL Inventor more pleased and thanked Komaru for that, as she is now inspired to make some additional modifications to make Kibo a more formidable robot that would do more than just facing off the zombies, which Komaru said it is nothing, even though she is quite confused as to why Iruma is thanking her for that.
