I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here, the focus is still onn Ikusaba and her group as they attempt to get past the blockade, the secondary focus will be on Naegi and Akamatsu, as the tension intensifies as there will be a bit of HORROR scenes here…

Ch. 30: Yoru o ikinuku
Near the checkpoint, Ikusaba is using the binoculars to see what is taking place, and using a device that Iruma invented hours ago, along with a drone that has a built-in TV camera, the rest of Ikusaba's team were able to pick up the sound coming from the checkpoint, and they listened intently as the area became very, very tense as sounds and screams from the terrified survivors became audibly louder than ever as terror and panic gripped the checkpoint area.
Natsumi and Maizono stared at the portable monitor where they saw what is happening a the checkpoint, and the sounds they hear made the girls feel very uncomfortable and wondered what is going on there, and Ikusaba said that the soldiers appeared to be conflicted as they were ordered not to let anyone through, whether the passerby are infected or not.
The SHSL Soldier told the rest to be ready, as she anticipates that the soldiers are likely to shoot the fleeing people down given that the soldiers' superiors are likely to give the order to ensure that no rioting would take place and that the commanding officers are likely given in to despair and would use that as a basis to MAINTAIN ORDER, which Natsumi and Maizono stared in disbelief.
"Are you damn serious?"
"Ikusaba-san…"
"You heard me. Junko chan intended for this to happen…and she succeeded. Now the ones maintaining the order has lost its bearings and will do what it takes to maintain that order…"
"By sacrificing lives?"
"That's insane!"
"And Junko-chan succeeded in driving people mad with despair. And what you're about to see is a sample of it."

Ikusaba then tells the two girls to keep monitoring things and be prepared for anything, saying that their next move would depend on the soldiers' next actions, and how this would affect their next steps and how to flee the current area they are in.
At the checkpoint area, the scene shows that the number of fleeing people are piling up, and they are repeatedly pleading to the soldiers to let them through, stating that they are STILL ALIVE and not INFECTED, and they even showed their children who are equally terrified and crying, saying that they are not bitten or anything for the sort.
"PLEASE!"
"LET US THROUGH!"
"WE WANT TO LIVE!"
"SAVE US!"
"WE DON'T WANT TO GET EATEN ALIVE!"
"PROTECT US!"
"JUST LET US THROUGH, DAMN IT!"
"WE BEG YOU!"
However, one of the survivors saw the approaching horde, and they began to scream and panic, and pleaded to the soldiers to let them through, fearing for their lives and told them that they are not infected and wanted to live.
"PLEASE!"
"LET US THROUGH!"
"WE WANT TO LIVE!"
"SAVE US!"
"WE DON'T WANT TO GET EATEN ALIVE!"
"PROTECT US!"
"JUST LET US THROUGH, DAMN IT!"
"WE BEG YOU!"
The soldiers are totally conflicted on what to do, and are unsure whether to give in or stand their ground, but the officer who received the DIRECT ORDER, approached the other soldiers and told them what the commanding officer tasked them to do, and the other soldiers are now losing it as they stated that they can't just shoot people who are not infected.
But the soldier who received the order said that this is what the commanding officer instructed them to do, and thus they must uphold it to protect the greater good.
As the people are screaming upon seeing that the zombies are approaching, the soldiers finally succumb to pressure and began to shoot down the surviving people, riddling them with bullets, shooting every man, woman and child in sight.
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"GGGGYYYAAAHHH!"
"AAARRRGGGHHH!"
"KKKKYYYYAAAHHHH!"
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"GGGGYYYAAAHHH!"
"AAARRRGGGHHH!"
"KKKKYYYYAAAHHHH!"
As the people lay dying due to being riddled with bullets, the soldiers then focus their attention towards the approaching zombies, shooting them with reckless abandon, seemingly unaware that the only way to shoot the zombies down is by aiming for the zombies' head, and the soldiers kept on shooting, but they are starting to feel more pressure as the zombies kept on moving forward.
The soldiers are starting to back away as the zombies are inching closer, but the lead soldier urged them to stand their ground and not give up, saying that as the defenders of Japan, they must protect their mother land and not let anything take over, but the soldiers responded by saying that the bullets are not having any effect at all.
"Damn! They're getting closer!"
"They won't go down!"
"What now?"
"The bullets aren't slowing them down!"
"We should retreat!"
"What's your order?"
"Tell us!"
"We can't keep this up!"
One of the soldiers started to panic as he took out a grenade, removed the pin and threw it towards the zombies, and the other soldiers stared in surprise as they hid behind the Humvees fearing that shrapnel might hit them, while berating the soldier for recklessly unleashing the grenade.
"You idiot!"
"What were you thinking?"
"You'll get us killed!"
"Seek cover!"
"You moron!"
"You forget that we're here!"
"Who cares? Just blow those motherfuckers!"
"…"
The grenade soon exploded and the impact struck the zombies sending them flying and landed near where the soldiers are, and while they appeared that the undead went still, the soldiers assumed that the grenade has done its job, and proclaimed that they defeated the zombies and began celebrating, feeling that they have become national heroes.
"We did it!"
"We won!"
"We saved japan!"
"We're heroes!"
"Hurray!"
"Good work, soldiers!"
"The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense will praise us!"
"What do you say to that, you damn zombies?"
Nearby, Ikusaba has seen enough and tells her four female companions to get ready as they are going to make a break for it, while the soldiers are distracted by their own foolishness, which Natsumi asked what if the soldiers attempt to shoot, which the SHSL Soldier said that the Humvee is bulletproof and hence they will be safe from gunfire.
As the Humvee is preparing to move, Komaru gasped as the scene showed that the footage from the drone made itself apparent. The zombies got up and grabbed the soldiers and began feasting on them, and the soldiers screamed out in pain and terror as they are slowly being consumed, unable to break free from the zombies' grips and the soldiers are slowly dying from being eaten alive.
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"GGGGYYYAAAHHH!"
"AAARRRGGGHHH!"
"KKKKYYYYAAAHHHH!"
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"GGGGYYYAAAHHH!"
"AAARRRGGGHHH!"
"KKKKYYYYAAAHHHH!"
Ikusaba then told the other girls to hold on as she will speed her way through as the Humvee zoomed past the checkpoint, ignoring the dying soldiers as their internal organs are being ripped from their bodies as the zombies ate them in a slow and painful way, and they were too focused in eating their prey to notice the Humvee driving past them, as they have no other sense of priority besides eating what's in front of them.
The sole surviving soldier panicked and picks up the radio, and he contacted his superior officer, telling him of the situation, but the superior officer urges the remaining soldier to stand his ground and defend the checkpoint, for it is his duty to protect it regardless of the odds, and assured to him that if he manages to defeat them he will get a promotion and other benefits.
"Maintain your position…stand your ground."
"But…but…"
"You are the last line of defense…"
"I'm the only one left…"
"Then defend our land with your life."
"Requesting backup, sir!"
"Do as you are told. You are the best of the best, soldier."
"But…but…"
However, the soldier failed to notice that two zombies got close and grabbed him, and began to feast on the hapless soldier's body, prompting him to scream as the zombies used their mutated teeth to tear away on his flesh and rip out his internal organs.
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"RRRRRR…"
"RRRRRR…"
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"RRRRRR…"
"RRRRRR…"
"AAAIIIIEE!"
"RRRRRR…"
"RRRRRR…"
As the remaining soldier is being eaten alive, you can hear the radio blared where voices can be heard, in which it came from the commanding officer and his subordinate, in which it turns out that both the commanding officer and his subordinate planned this the whole time, intended to sacrifice the soldiers and the remaining people for a certain diabolical reason.
"Plan succeeded, sir."
"Good."
"With the soldiers and the survivors dead, we can make the next phase of the plan work."
"Indeed."
"What if there are other survivors?"
"Order for their immediate termination. Tell them that the soldiers that the survivors are infected and must be eliminated. I will give the order and they will obey."
"As you command."
"Good."

Hours later, it was sunset, where night started to fall, and the scene shows that Ikusaba's group arrived at the Kuzuryuu manor and both Natsumi and Fuyuhiko hugged, and the siblings are relieved to see each other, but then the other survivors noticed that Naegi and Akamatsu aren't there, and Ikusaba explained the circumstances, which some of Class 78 members are alarmed by this and deemed Naegi's decision as being reckless.
"What?"
"No way!"
"What is Naegi thinking?"
"He can't possibly do something that foolish!"
"How can he get out if he has no vehicles to use?"
"We got to get them back!"
"He's our friend!"
"Yeah!"
Likewise, Class 80 became concerned over Akamatsu, and Chabashira unjustly blamed Saihara for this and said that he should be the one taking Akamatsu's place and he should be fed to the zombies along with Naegi, which the SHSL Detective why is she making that statement, which she reiterated that boys are the SCUM of the earth and that it is better off that the girls become the only survivors, and this triggered an argument between Saihara and Chabashira.
"Do you have a problem with me?"
"Yeah I do!"
"What?"
"You're a pervert! Boys are perverts! And they should become zombie chow!"
"You're crazy!"
"But not as crazy as you! You boys are all the same!"
"You need to see a doctor."
"You should meet your MAKER, you lecher!"
Both teens were being separated by Class 80, and there Kyoko asked Iruma if Kibo can be used to do reconnaissance so as to find Naegi and Akamatsu, which the SHSL Inventor nodded, and there she said that she will be needing Soda's help in installing some new weapons for Kibo, and Kyoko tells Iruma to do what she need to do, saying that time is of the essence in finding the two missing teens.
"Then can I count on you?"
"Sure!"
"Then do what you need to do."
"Got it!"
"Okay."
"Ha-ha-ha! Time to upgrade my creation!"
"We're counting on you."
"No problem!"
Ikusaba approached Kirigiri and volunteered to help, but Kyoko tells her to rest for now, as she will come up with a way to conduct a rescue mission and will consider Ikusaba's offer as it would depend on the situation and whether to have her team up with Kibo.

Naegi and Akamatsu are on the run, and both narrowly escaped the zombies they encountered, and now both are on the brink of exhaustion due to running non-stop for hours, and they needed a place to stay as it was now evening, and there Akamatsu saw an unmanned house, and she suggested that they seek refuge there.
Naegi began to inspect the house, seeing that the gate is strong enough to hold out against the zombies and made sure there are no undead inside, which after a minute he tells Akamatsu that it is safe to go inside, and the two teens went inside the unmanned house, securing the gate and both entered, seeing that the place has already been abandoned since days ago when the pandemic began.
The two teens inspected the refrigerator, where thankfully, there are enough food to last the night and the next day, and Akamatsu suggested that she cook some food which he nodded, as he secured the door and window, covering them with the window curtain to make sure no light would be visible, and he tells her to be ready for anything.
"Akamatsu-san…"
"Yeah?"
"Be ready."
"…"
"We might…"
"I…understand…"
"Okay."
"Good."
After that, Akamatsu began putting out the ingredients and began cooking, while Naegi went upstairs to peek at the windows, seeing that so far no zombies have formed in an area and hoped that this would stay that way for the night, as they need an open area to make an escape route in order to escape and head for the Kuzuryuu manor.

Hope you liked this chapter, as Naegi and Akamatsu managed to find a placed to stay for the night, after spending hours being on the run, and right now they are taking a rest with Akamatsu cooking while Naegi acts as a lookout…as they have a feeling that the night won't be as peaceful as they expect…
Ikusaba and her group managed to reach the Kuzuryuu manor, and there things took a hilarious turn as Chabashira is at it again with her anti-boys ranting with Saihara being the BUTT of her complaints…while Kyoko instructs Iruma to have Kibo do a search and rescue mission…
Lastly, a tension-filled scene covered most of this chapter…with BLOODY RESULTS…

Naegi and Akamatsu must survive the rest of the night and next day to escape the zombies while awaiting for Ikusaba's return as she is slated to work with Kibo, and this might result in an action-filled horror and suspense as the SHSL Soldier and Robot join forces…
