Prologue

--7:30AM--

--June 2027--

--Joint Forces Base Kolwat, State of Idaho, USA--

--Some Barracks in the Housing zone--

A nice normal day. Inside a Joint Forces Base called JFB Kolwat, named after a former General who died from a heart attack named Griffin Kolwat, died in his own house in front of his own kids and in front of his grandkids and in front of his young siblings and in front of his brother and sister in laws, since it's his family's family reunion... Well he got too excited then died at 53. And the general was known to be a very good man, had a good reputation and performance in the Army, and served for 34 years.

And he's kind of famous, not in the public, but in work, like even the president liked his sense of humor, he's the one who mostly wants to keep boosting morale, and he's even the one who had good ideas alongside the defense secretary, and the DDG(X) was even successful and 5 ships was made because of him supporting it, and donating a percentage of his earnings, and whole 8 more was planned to be built and 4 under construction.

And there's a new project, an arsenal ship was made, basically a ship with everything (except planes), well it's a pretty long and big one, and it's capabilities are immense. It has nearly a hundred VLS, nice radar, able to have ballistic missiles, and has the capability to shooting down nukes, and it's even planned to have railguns slammed somewhere for the future, and all the futuristic or advanced stuff or if it's available on that year, and it's expected to have all it's full capabilities in 2050s or 2060s, but now the Arsenal ship is mostly known as a missile platform ship having swarmer missiles, long and short ranged anti-air or cruise/guided missiles, and for now the Airforce is developing a system capable on shooting down multiple nukes nukes and ICBMs, alongside Russia in a more effective way. And it's obviously expensive, it would take a long time since there's 2 expensive military projects, plus the US trying to reduce the Inflation so at least trying to not spend too-too much on defense.

Right now the arsenal or call it the missile platform ship, the US navy has over 2, 2 on modification and sea trials and not really active, and Russia has 1, 1 on modification and sea trials. And those ship programs were worth the tax money for the US and Russia since they're durable and reliable but slow in 17 to 18 knots, but maintaining those arsenal ships is obviously expensive, more like a nightmare, in which the US will limit the Arsenal ships to only 2 and same goes for Russia... And China is jealous about it, and having a bad time with the Russians limiting their weapons sale to them since Russia is far different now, and Putin is not in power anymore, just resting in a grave after one of his own people shot him, while on a coup.

And inside the JFB, the base is full of either busy paperwork for officers, training, fixing shit, combat drills, maintenance, and awaiting some delivery of new hardware and vehicles like the new AMPV, and other things the Army, USMC, or AF would do.

And back to Idaho, inside the base was filled with activities, outside the fences was grassy with some parts being sandy. A good terrain for runways and a base, a good open field for shooting artillery and a good terrain for a cool badass armored assault, and a nice place to test out explosives, and over 10 or so miles north from the base where there is more vegetation, is the nearest town called Skysted with a population over 31,000 residents and guarded by over 1,600 police officers, 500 plus soldiers, and a Local Militia with 740 members regarding a new security article created since 2023 by allowing lawful and allowed Militia, by the words of the president, and Gen. Griffin's place of birth since 1972, and located in the southwest of the State. And the town is pretty old, it was originally a small village with over 100 people, and it grew as the time passed by in 1969 because of its famous clear skies and beautiful nice green fields and a big garden of flowers.

While back inside the base, way inside a two storey barracks on the military housing side of the base, was a soldier inside one of the rooms of the barracks, reading some book, laying down on his bunk bed.

And his name.

Is James O. (Olsen) Norvik.

He's a 29 year old American-Norwegian dude from Philadelphia, handsome and a bit of a geek, with a nice normal black hair covered his head and a short growing mustache and beard on him, and a dude who served for 5 years in the army and bearing the rank Sergeant or for short Sgt. he is known as a person who's always reading and watching anime and manga or novels in the Platoon, and when on off duty, he takes his time by reading, and maybe checking on his friends and some family members who isn't in the military on his phone.

And he can be enthusiastic about some fantasy stuff like lord of the rings stuff, comparing modern and fantasy militarily and economically, and the type of person who would criticize a movie or series of things that doesn't make any sense, like the military not being accurate or effective when fighting a low or mid fantasy army for some unknown reason.

Like for example, an M1 Abrams tank hasn't fired a single shot and they just loaded a shell after every lightly armored or unarmored vehicle all got cooked by a dragon. Some V-22s armed with M134s, a Gatling gun chambered in 7.62x51, just keeps on shooting and hovering in place, doesn't do anything, no maneuvers, no nothing, just makes them brain dead in combat. Like having them charge on a dragon mindlessly and say, *aim for the belly* and even if they saw no effect, they could've just started circling or flanking the lizard and grab anything that would penetrate its thick hide, like use their anti-tank weapons inside their storage, but no.

And it only takes some dude with a bow that shot an explosive arrow and easily killed it.

Simple as that, done.

Same goes for the walking dead about some sentinels on a mobile tower on a watch out and hey they can't see a big ass horde of zombies coming down on the street, you can still see them even at night and the soldiers not retreating back to that fortified building behind them, and stands still and keeps shooting till the zombies gets close to them and eats their asses.

And here he never liked a lot of movies, TV series, anime, or any kind of media that portrays something or someone, that doesn't make sense. And the only thing that makes him watch those is the story, the world, the characters and such.

And for his combat history, he has experience in combat, he fought alongside two dudes he knew in Syria, he experienced getting shot at by anti-american Syrian Militias, well not once but seven times, but he was lucky that the fight he had were merely small gunfights and just long or mid range engagements which mostly involved airstrikes.

And the first time he saw actual guys with guns shooting at them, got him a bit confused, due to Civilians almost wearing the same clothes as the ones shooting at them before was his only first CQB engagement which was a bit intense, and the first time he dropped had ever dropped body, and saw a comrade die, and he felt a mix of emotions. Excitement, and fear, was inside the urban cities of Syria near the Kurdish-US controlled areas, and as well Russian controlled areas.

And Norvik was a corporal that time, and he and his patrol came across some Syrian civ who was struggling in English and informing them of something, which the man told them about a small hideout of Syrian Militias who has a hate for the US and as well Russians and plans to do ambushes for their patrols which the Syrian overheard, and to which he and his squad tried to raid only to get ambushed resulting to his Squad leader dead alongside another soldier who got sprayed by a PKM.

And even at that time the Russians assisted them because there was a nearby Russian patrol who happened to hear the gunfight and decided to join in and help out.

And the casualty results were 2 dead US servicemen, and 3 injured US servicemen, all light, caused by the ambush, and 1 injured Russian. And 13 Syrian Militiamen all dead.

That was Norvik's first CQB engagement, at least what he experienced, it didn't affect his mental health, but with the exception of almost dying, and feeling actual fear for life for the first time.

Now his Unit, or his Division is reassigned back to the mainland, in Idaho, and became part of the 19th Army Corp, under Lieutenant General Hipper in JFB Kolwat.

And inside the barrack, on the top of his bunk bed is PFC. Ela harashi a 28 years old Japanese-American woman, with a white or gray-ish hair, and a small boobad female soldier assigned to Norvik's bunk in a single dorm room. And the barracks they're in, half are females and males inside occupying rooms. The military allowed that for a few years now for both female and male soldiers to share a room or dorm inside the barracks.

And she's a year younger than Norvik, and a bit of a freshwoman in the force, and served for a whole year in the Army with nothing new but just cleaning and doing shit, their relationship is kinda different since a NCO can date an Enlisted which is good news for the two, but still not going on a date, so no lovey relationship, but very best buddies-and yet maybe start to become lovers in the very far future... I think... If that happens off course.

She was originally born in the US, till her parents decided to go to Japan after that after a few months, and the time she reached 7 she was pretty fine on speaking English and yet her father works abroad, her father decided to move to the US and mostly stayed there till she reaches the age of 18 after graduating high school alongside Norvik since then and they were always on the same school. And eventually graduated in Culinary arts and for Norvik is... Fine arts, and he ain't the best, he just got lucky.

And for Norvik's reason for enlisting is pretty much in his fantasy after watching some cool recruitment videos, well at least it doesn't show almost every country is a scheming backstabbing shit head like that GATE series, but the guy who wrote it is a former JSDF Officer and an Ultranationalist, so what else, he loves his country anyways right? But anyways Norvik's fantasy fell when he saw some parts of reality when he was in Syria, where he couldn't do anything but either watch, take a life and see some of his colleagues die.

All he can do is just shrug it off, and do his thing. And since he's not there anymore, and he just finished a volume on some new translated manga he just found, and interested him, not very exciting but kinda triggering, and traumatizing, at least there's a lesson to learn for the younger generations, and it's not those stereotypical anime we would see a lot, like those Isekai, young romance, harem stuff... But at least something with just guys, no sexy hot big Booba anime girls on it. Just combatants from the second World War suffering, and giving different perspectives of different combatants from other nations that participated in WW2 which ranges to a veteran, conscript, draft, a POW, and a resistance fighter. It's a very good one. Too bad there aren't a lot of translations out on physical, most of it is on the internet made by fans, which the author is fine with it.

(if you want to know if that *book* exist in real life, it doesn't, I just made it up)

"What a volume, the translation is pretty good dam" he said to himself, as he closed the book and scratched his head, and moved it around making some soft snapping or cracking sounds, as he then looked around his typical dorm or room. It was nice and clean, a beautiful sight for the eyes.

While he does that, he then looks back at the book cover, of a dark book cover with the obvious dark and sad cover, a dark burnt field and dead bodies littered all over, and a soldier kneeling on the dirt, with his face showing he's on the verge of getting crazy or falling down to madness. That's why Norvik picked it up and started reading its translated physical volumes.

He then stood up from his bunk and stretched his arms a bit and shaked it after hours reading a book while laying down in bed. He plans to head back to the library and return the book he borrowed.

"Oi Jhems" a muffled voice called his name from the top of his bunk. But due to her muffled voice, Norvik didn't hear her once.

"JEEEEMS!'' Harashi then yelled muffledly, hearable for Norvik, causing him to turn his head around.

"Yeah?" he responded with both his eyebrows raised, waiting for her to speak as she then stopped biting her mattress, leaving a wet mark on it and asked. "Are you heading somewhere?" she asked.

"Library, for any books that may interest me on reading, you know-like random shit, I dunno" he answered moving his shoulders up, indicating he doesn't know what book he would find.

"Can I come with you? I just want to get out of this barracks and do something" she asked if she could go with him.

"I don't know for you but... Yeah sure whatever" he accepted without having any second thoughts and off course he did, sometimes being best friends gets some thinking thrown into a bin inside your brain.

"Thanks" she thanked as she got down from the top of the bunk bed, smiling a bit. With her off the bed, Norvik and Harashi noticed three soldiers scheming something stupid and funny, and it's obviously for their platoon commander that's sleeping on a collapsible chair near the entrance with his patrol cap covering his face, and some soldiers noticed what their doing, one of then even wanted to wake his ass up but instead wanted to watch on what will happen.

Norvik just grinned at the sight as he chuckled with Harashi as the dudes continued to do shit on their commander. Norvik then tapped Ela's shoulder to telling her to *let's go, which they head to the door entrance of their barracks with Norvik first to open the door and Harashi last to then close the door behind them.

"Alright, to the library'' Norvik said in a neutral way.

And Harashi just smiled at his words as they started to walk off from the entrance of their barracks room towards the exit of the whole building, which they needed to go down a stairway since the building was a two storey. They then reached the ground floor of the building and headed straight to the exit.

--Outside--

The two got outside the building, giving them a nice view of the clear sky, and a Blackhawk flying by, and then some topless humvee from the MP or either security forces of the base drove by, either on patrol or not. And some soldiers out here are likely wandering around to relax their heads or some transporting some files or papers to the offices of the base or heading somewhere. As well they saw their neighbors from the other barracks, cutting grass with lawn mowers, and repainting their building because some of the paint is actually wearing off and the paint being dirty that needs some cleaning work.

And something caught Norvik's attention. Right at the entrance of the barracks, they saw two soldiers, one carrying a bucket, and the other one carrying toothbrushes... And a sergeant followed them right behind with a serious face. And it looks like punishment for those two, because it looks like they're meant to clean the wall with toothbrushes.

"Huh, toothbrush scrubs are back at it again" Norvik commented at the sight of the three, which caught harashi's attention, and saw those three.

"Heh, never thought it's actually true" she said, surprised to see those two dudes carrying a bucket and a bunch of toothbrushes and being followed by a Sergeant.

"You mean the toothbrush scrubs?" Norvik asked, as they stopped staring at those three and continued to focus on walking and talking, all along.

"Well, yes it's real, but that kind of punishment is pretty rare, unless you do something so bad or stupid and pissed your Sergeant off so hard, saw it happen once" he confirmed, well harashi never saw someone getting punished to start scrubbing floors or maybe walls with toothbrushes. She only saw those in some movies, and it's kinda funny. And walking to the library is taking them a while on trying to navigate through the place, and the base is big with a lot of facilities and storage areas, and it's a Joint Forces base so plenty of necessities of all branches, except the navy since the place is mostly on land and the nearest coast is pretty far ranging over 900 miles away, coming across villages, so the base is in the middle of nowhere.

And still, they kept walking, with both of them always silent on trying to get to the library, but after some time both of them started to think of something to talk about like things they may not know, some news of something, or anything new, or how their past times and life.

"Hey uh... Ela" Norvik called her by her given name as they kept walking. "Hm?" She raised her eyebrows and looked at him.

"Have you heard about that dude that disappeared in Japan?" he asked, well Harashi doesn't know what he was talking about someone who disappeared, she doesn't even know who.

"What dude from Japan are ya talking about?" she asked. Not knowing who. But for the readers you'll know who.

"Didn't you hear the news? A Japanese University kid, the one who's been missing for a month now? You know, it's what the IRO, and Aegis are heavily investigating, like the others that disappeared too" he said, which she now realized what he was talking about.

"Oh. And you mean that student named... Naofumi was it? Was that the name of the guy who disappeared in a library back in Tokyo?"

"Yeah. Yeah, him. Well, those International guys like the United Nations International Research Organization have been all over the place for the past month, again with that off course alongside some other independent organizations and groups, same thing goes for their high presence in Africa, Finland and China" he said, mentioning the presence of the UN and other organizations. Which was surprising for Harashi, well it's very reasonable why their presence was so high in those four countries since those occurrences were pretty anomalous for them.

And for information for the International Research Organization or the IRO, is a newly formed organization of the UN since 2018, founded by numerous independent researchers and some big shot researchers, they were publicly known in 2023 for making new technologies for both civilian and military pretty fast, which gave the example of the rail tank made jointly by the Russians, Japanese and Americans in 2020. And IRO found new materials found deep under earth, and kept it a secret while some journalists were poking around. Even united the space agencies of other nations, which had a new project focused on space exploration, but it's on hold and expected to resume in 2035 if no problems surface that will burden the project.

The IRO holds a big power if it comes to unknown biological threats or anomalous activities. People in the public think all what they talk and do about anomalies was some joke till it became real till 2027, which some people disappeared by some light. Which is the reason why they scrambled people all over China, Africa, Finland and Japan. Since for those listed countries and continent like in China, a female student was on her phone till some random bright ass white light consumed her and disappeared, plus she was in front of so many people, and security cameras pointed at the direction where she poofed as well left a small crater, then a whole platoon of 43 UN peacekeepers of mixed nationalities poofed in the middle of the African Savanna, as well left a crater, includes the Finnish guy, and for the Japanese dude, some chunks of wood disappeared too after his disappearance.

"Huh. Never thought of the IRO being everywhere, and people mocking them now realizing what's going on, and some denying it's true" she said, with a mixed of surprised and impressed reaction, not everyone thought the UN or the IRO would do something like scrambling over nearly thirty thousand personnel to scramble all over Finland, China, Africa and Japan. They were even hardcore on questioning and detaining people.

Everyone is still confused on what's going on with that white light teleporting people. Like what was that bright light? Why did it teleport random people? How did some dude and his whole cabin disappear in Finland, some Chinese student trying to walk home, and a whole platoon of UN peacekeepers. And still the IRO, and the Aegis Corporation still didn't find anything helpful for their investigation, plus their new research for making a classified Inter-Dimensional portal, which not a single person outside knows about, with an exception to key politicians, like the secretary-general of the United Nations and all three presidents of the three big ones, and very very expensive.

"Well, we know everyone is not even sure if those guys that disappeared are still alive, and if they're in another world, the chances of them still breathing is kinda… slim... depending on what kind of world they are teleported to, or if they're lucky enough to be safe at first, but for months? No, not even a platoon of modern soldiers won't survive long due to limited supplies, plus if they're UN peacekeepers, they'll definitely be screwed since they could be given shitty equipment... But for the Finnish guy... Yeah maybe he'll manage" he said, and he's correct, and thanks for his nice head, and knowledge.

And if you're teleported to some fantasy world. Everything is possible, goblins, succubus, greedy fucks, swarm of big bugs or a stampede of goblins and then if its some futuristic world or alternate universe where you would die, or thrown into a mental hospital, because you don't exist, or aliens will start mauling you or do some inhumane scientific experiments on you, and immediate death. Just give Re:Zero as an example, it's just plain death, and experiencing it again and again with different scenes.

"Well at least you're right. And I kinda wonder how that Finnish guy is doing right now" she said, wondering how that Finnish guy is now if he's in some other world, comparable to theirs. And if he's in some forest... He won't be fine from wildlife, monsters, some succubus finding a prey in the forest at night, and he has a gun, with very limited ammo, unless he's allowed and he knows how to make bullets for whatever gun he's using to hunt. And the hunter is armed with a .336 Lapua Magnum hunting rifle or a legal sniper rifle, and a custom AR-15, and other more guns, all registered and licenced.

"Alive, possibly, he may manage" James said as the two continued to walk, passing by buildings, and then they came across something, a possible funny moment. They both saw an African-American Sergeant wearing his campaign hat, climbing through a window of a barracks that's not a two storey, and pretty much something is gonna happen.

"Ooooh something's gonna go off" Harashi chuckled. Both of them stopped, now getting interested in what's about to happen, and a random soldier who saw the Sgt. joins them as well to see what happens.

"HOW THE FUCK DID THIS DOG GET IN HERE!?" A voice sounded like an African American voice shouted, which is the sergeant.

And then after a little moment a soldier... A PFC jumped out the same window where the sergeant climbed through, but failed to land his ass as he was in a hurry, as he fell and slammed his face on the concrete sidewalk with no broken nose but giving him a bruise on his face.

"Shit!" the PFC exclaimed, and a few soldiers on the vicinity was watching, and saw what happened which made some of them laugh alongside Harashi, and the rest mostly smiling holding their laughs and shaking their heads, and James just smiles and holds his laugh, while the PFC stood up as he started running like how Forrest Gump runs, and then he almost tripped again as he took off.

"There he goes" Norvik said as he inhaled and exhaled deeply, trying to hold his laugh.

And then some of the soldiers nearby cheered for him and started laughing, as he stood up and ran away quickly as he could, with the sergeant following up to chase him by jumping out the window and some soldiers from the barracks followed to peek out the windows to see where they were going now.

"DON'T LET THE DUDE CATCH YA OR YOU'LL BE DOING PUSHUPS!" one of the soldiers at the barracks's window while grinning

"RUN MOTHER FUKKA HAHA!"

"YEEEAAAH GET HIM! Hahahaha" and then some soldiers started cheering on the sergeant. Trying to catch up on the PFC, and it's a goddamn funny sight to see.

Norvik exhaled, and chuckled at the sight as some of them watched, and one of the soldier's inside the barracks even peaked out their heads and some got out to see where those two are now.

"Hey guys, is there really a dog in there?" Norvik asked the other soldiers on the window about the dog, to which one of them responded. "Yeah there is, he smuggled his fucking Chihuahua by box, and I don't even know bow the little thing didn't even bark when it was transported here, I don't even know how nobody at inspection found out" one of the soldiers answered, and Norvik nodded with no further comment as he watched the PFC and the sergeant still running. But how the hell did anyone in inspection couldn't find out that the package was a dog.

"Man I love being in the Army" Norvik said, as he watched the sergeant chasing the PFC passing by the rows of single floor and two storey military housings. And these are one of the reasons why he loves being a soldier. And one of the reasons some like being a soldier is because of that, funny shit happens, but if it's combat... It ain't.

"And It's both fun and stressful, depending on what rank you are" Harashi pointed out, and she's not wrong, there are fun times and stressful times, doing hard work only. A few dudes with you, scrubbing shit with a toothbrush, and if you're an officer, off course, assisting with training, paper work and all that. Officers would agree to that, they would have paperwork and manage with their own platoon, company or units depending on their rank.

"Well you ain't wrong. I'm not gonna wish I won't do a lot of paperwork if I reach Lieutenant in the future" he said as well agreeing to what she said as they both kept watching those two.

"C'mon, let's not waste our day here without looking at any books" Norvik said as he tapped Harashi's back, walking to the opposite way of where the PFC and Sergeant was running at. And Harashi just smiled and followed him.

--A few minutes later--

--Library entrance, West side of the base, near the housings and offices--

"Ah here we are" Norvik said as they arrived at a decently sized two storey building, probably having a decent amount of literature, and on the front with nice big windows both on the entrance and second floor of the library.

The two were at the library's front entrance, seeing some posters stuck on the window, showing the new books and one particular saying there's a literature event in the nearest town. Norvik held the book or manga he borrowed tight under his armpit, as he and Harashi headed to the door. Norvik held the handle and he pulled while Harashi was just behind him. And when he opened the door, or glass door, they met up with one soldier bearing a Corporal rank patch on his velcro, and he was about to exit the building, both glared at each other for a while, and they were familiar to each other.

"Oh, hey there Ray" he greeted the soldier, saying his name.

"Yup" Ray nodded at him, and he noticed harashi behind him.

"Jap girl" he said in a greeting tone and made a light smile at her as he headed on out as both of them looked a bit surprised to see him here as he headed on. The reason why they're surprised is that they've never seen the Corporal go to the library.

"Did not know he goes to the library" Harashi wondered, as she and Norvik stood by the door, looking at Ray walking on the sidewalk, towards his unknown destination.

"Maybe he was finding some entertainment at least?" Harashi said, looking at the Corporal as he walked away.

"That could explain it... Maybe he just visited someone?" she assumed, which could be plausible why he was here at the library.

"You mean Maddie, or someone else?" he asked, and the thing on his mind is like is it Maddie? Maddie is a normal soldier and a librarian inside the base's main library building, no one really knows her life story, but she's mostly on the computer at the front desk, looking all so tired and sleepy, well she is an Lt though... But people wonder... Why the hell does she have that much work ok, both virtual and physical.

"Beats me, I don't even know who, we don't even know what kind of girl he likes" she said, she doesn't know who, no one knows who... But why did they even think of that?

"Well... Shall we go in now?" Norvik asked, gesturing to the glass door.

"Yeah sure, let's go" she said as they both entered the library through another second glass door and entered it too. And inside after getting in, they both saw a blonde haired female soldier, and it was Maddy or Madison who was on the circulation desk of the library, with a stack of random books right besides her, which is probably the returned books, while she's doing something on the computer on the desk, and seeing all the bookshelves all in order, soldiers just spending their time by reading book and browsing some of them. Just like how a library would always work and see inside.

"Give me a second" he said as heads over Madison at the circulation desk.

"Hey Madison" he called her as she looked at him for like a second while he waves the manga he was holding. And Madison just turns back to the computer screen.

"On the stack of books Sergeant, I'll return them to the shelves later" she told him in a tired voice, to where to place the book he was gonna return, he nodded as he placed the book he borrowed on the stack. Norvik looks at her face... She's very very focused on doing her paper or whatever work she's assigned for. Hell she looks tired.

He then returned to Harashi who was just standing near the entrance.

"Let's go?" he asked.

"Yeah, and I'm going to the history section" she said, and Norvik nodded since he's cool about it, and said "Ok, cool, never late to learn something new. I'm going to the fantasy section"

"Alright man" She said as they both headed to their separate ways to their separate sections of bookshelves in the library. Norvik started browsing in the fantasy section, looking for any books that will interest him, not those harem, and overpowered cliché, but that just depends on how the story goes, or how interesting it is.

And the books he kept seeing are a lot, some are from big writers, some are very famous, some aren't much, and some are indie which may hide beautiful gems of writing, world building, etc.

But then a book caught his eyes...

It's very visible if you look closely, unlike the clean coloured books, he saw an old looking one, quite dusty and the cover quality is aging.

He grabbed the book, and the side having the words or the title of the book called *the four cardinal heroes* sounds like a pretty nice name for him, he decided to check it out himself. He then inspected the book, the cover looks pretty old, and it uses wood, and the paper looks old. And a drawing of four weapons is visible, showing a sword, a spear, a bow, and a shield. There's no quote on the front, no descriptions on the back, just blank except the drawing and bearing its title on the front.

So he confirmed that it's an old book, made by someone anonymous or not famous. And the chances of the book being complex and good is a 50/50 chance.

"Old book that has no attention huh? No description no nothing, hm... except the title and drawing outside, and no author name or publisher name. odd" he said to himself, as he kept inspecting the outside of it, even though it doesn't have much information outside the book cover is fine, since he hasn't seen the inside yet, still quite unsure if the story would be either intriguing, decent or shitty... Still he doesn't know if the book is worth reading.

"Hey. what book is that" Norvik then flinched in surprise after Ela unexpectedly whispered right beside his ear which kinda scared him.

"Man, jeez, you scared the shit out of me" Norvik complained as he chuckled from there I don't know, which caused Harashi to smirk in response whilst still inspecting the book.

"Well what do you have there?" she asked about the old looking book he was inspecting recently as he turned his head to her and nodded, as he turned around fully, showing the book his holding.

"A book, with no description text and information, not quite sure who made this, but I was planning to read this or pre-read this if it's a good book" he answered, as he looked at the front of the book cover and scratched his head in confusion.

"OK. but... Why does the book look old" she said as she leaned her head in interest as she glared at him and smiled.

"I don't know, it's a lone book squashed up in the fantasy section. Could be misplaced by someone, or donated. Well, the paper is rough, the cover is rough too. And dust" he explained, and slaps the book, puffing a small cloud of grey smoke off from the book. And both of them inhaled the dust which caused them to groan while trying to prevent themselves from sneezing, and Norvik almost sneezed.

"Damn, that's a lot of dust" he commented as he scratched his nose to prevent his nose from spitting gross sticky green shit out of it and Harashi covering her nose.

"So let's read it?" Harashi asked as she snorted from the dust.

"Yeah let's do that" he agreed as he kept slapping the book to reduce the dust, so they won't get their hands dirty and start sneezing. The two soldiers walked out of the fantasy section, and headed to the nearest couch in the area, but other couches and chairs were occupied by several soldiers reading some books, or either doing research.

But right now they don't even know there were two soldiers that tailed their asses for a while now, smiling right behind them awkwardly, which was Sgt. Cole Merrick, a 29 years old African-American soldier that served 3 years in the army and John Tanner, a 29 years old Hispanic-American soldier same serving year as Merrick, Both of them served in the same Unit and Battalion before being transferred to another battalion that's stationed in Joint Base Kolwat. Both of them are buds since basic but both of them picked different courses in the military by Merrick being a Grenadier and Tanner being a radio dude and tech guy. And for some reason Harashi felt something like someone's behind her, well with the exception of Norvik.

"What's u-Ah!" Tanner received an elbow to his face, hitting somewhere on his mouth, and he felt like something came off, like one of his teeth got removed from that. And hearing that, Norvik turned around pretty quickly after Harashi elbowed Tanner's face, which caused him to look in surprise and Merrick smiling, and holding off his laugh.

"Seriously guys?" Norvik asked in annoyment as he looked at Tanner holding his mouth in pain and Merrick just tryna holding his laugh by grinning, they could even hear him hold his breath so bad.

"Sorry man" Merrick apologised as he held his laugh back with his smile visibly trying to hold back.

"Tanner. You ok man?" Norvik asked as he looked at him, rubbing his jaw... And it seems pretty painful.

"Yeah, yeah I am... " he answered, which made Norvik nod. And for Harashi, she just looks at Merrick rubbing his jaw in pain, but at least he got back to his normal posture... Well she regretted doing that.

"Did you guys followed us?" Norvik asked, suspicious of both of them possibly following their asses just to either screw on them, or something else.

Merrick looked at the ground and inhaled and then exhaled to calm his ass down a little more so he won't have any disturbance if he tries to talk, which he repeats again two times while Norvik and Harashi just watches him do that.

Hooooh*

"No, we were browsing some books till we saw you both enter" Merrick answered, Norvik acknowledged their answer by nodding, since he remembers looking at their backs from time to time when they were walking towards the library. But Harashi sighs, because doing that again may potentially get them hurt, for example by receiving an elbow to the face. "But please don't do that again, unless you want to have a broken nose" Harashi then advised and the two nodded, as Harashi glared at the two in annoyment, due to the fact that she elbowed someone's face.

"Will do" Tanner said as he raised his hand like a quick wave. The two noticed the book Norvik was holding, and got an idea of asking what book he was holding.

"Oh and uhh... What book is that?" Tanner asked, interested in the book Norvik has on hand.

"Found an old random looking book in the fantasy section. It has no Description or any other shit on the covers except the title and some drawing on the front cover. So meaning we won't even know who wrote this book"

"Ok, So you two gonna read it?" Merrick asked with enthusiasm and with Tanner hitting his back like he's trying to say no.

"Well. Yeah we are'' he answered, raising an eyebrow, suspicious of what idiocity they might do, or whether they're just interested.

"Can we join homie" Merrick asked, which is what Norvik expected from him, and Tanner looking like he doesn't want to disturb them and Harashu making her face long pretty much not wanting both of them to be disturbing both of them... What? Did that make sense? Well... Who gives a crap anyways.

"Uhh... Yeah sure, but don't fuck around" he accepted, bobbing his head up and down, nodding with a yes, because those are his friends, well good friends before Harashi got into the platoon he's in.

"Sure we won't" Merrick said as he bobbed his head up and down too, smiling awkwardly. Tanner removed his hand covering his jaw, which he started to try moving and licking his teeth and the insides of his mouth, checking if he lost any teeth or either got a scratch on his mouth.

"Huh, yeah. Let's hope so" he said, while Harashi just nodded at his decision, and Tanner looked like he's fine with it.

"C'mon guys" Norvik then led them to a random long couch he saw that's empty, no one occupying it, and with a normal wooden table in front of it. Where they sat down, Harashi on Norvik' s left side, the two on his right. Well they're comfortable at least.

But something is tingling Norvik, like his guts telling him not to open it, even his own heart is warning him by beating pretty fast, he even raised an eyebrow on why he's feeling that shit... Well the three noticed this, obviously from his face, well likely he's spacing out.

"You alright dude?" Tanner asked while he tapped the back of his head once, and snapped his ass back to reality, which Norvik flinched, and made him rub the back of his head.

"Huh?" he responded in confusion after snapping back to reality. And Merrick leaned up or down. "Dude you spaced the fuck out." Merrick said, which Norvik remembered that he did.

"Did deep thoughts catch you?" Harashi asked, well, sounding like she's worried, well she for this reason why, she hasn't heard him tell his story back in Syria, and of course she knows what he has been... Which wasn't very bad, not very traumatic. Norvik just looked at her for a few seconds in confusion, likely processing on what he would say

"Yeah, I think so" he answered as he looked at the book again, still with his heart beating, and got his guts to shut up. He's then ready to flip up a page.

He sighs as he flipped the book cover to see the first paper, or page, which he and the other three then raised their eyebrows in confusion, normally there would be something written there. But sometimes there's none, so basically the next page has some written on it, like some information about the book, like what you should do, what the book is meant to be, and etc.

Norvik smiled awkwardly for some reason, and then flipped to another page... Which is still blank.

"What?" Norvik said in confusion, with his awkward smile starting to fade away to a confused face.

"Ok. second page, no writing?" Tanner questioned, well maybe too early to ask that.

"Printing, or... Um-putting it together mistake? I think?" Harashi answered his question with a guess of hers. But she had a good point.

"You have a point Harashi. but I'm gonna correct you on this. The mistake thing you said is kind of a very rare mistake, the book pages gets reviewed a lot before being supplied or given or whatever you'd call it. But if it's an indie and self printed, sure it might be" he corrected, and Harashi nodded at his words.

"Well let's just continue this" Norvik said as he laid the book down on the table in front of them, still open, and readied his hand to flip to a next page, which it could still be blank.

But then suddenly.

A page forcibly flipped itself, ripping itself off from Norvik's left hand, which the other three saw as they all looked in confusion.

"What the fuck" Norvik said as he got both his hands off the book as he and the other three looks at the book, with their eyebrows raised in confusion. Norvik doesn't even if it's only him.

"Is it just me or did the book just like... Aggressively flipped its page all by itself?" he asked, confused or not being sure about what he saw, well he doesn't hallucinate random shit, unless he's a veteran with PTSD, but he's not. Unless he took drugs.

"Well I saw it" Tanner answered as he just looked confused as the others when they saw that shit. Harashi even looked at Merrick like questioning if he saw it too... well he nodded in response when she looked at him.

"Well, we did too... actually." Harashi answered, to which Norvik sighed in relief. Not being alone to see that shit, plus the page still has no writings. He then took a deep breath as he prepared for another page flipping. But when he tries to have his hand on the book, well something weird like shit just started to happen, like starting to slowly float up, like it's hovering.

"Uh Norvik. What the fuck is with the book!?" Tanner quickly asked as all four of them just looked at the slowly Floating and page flipping book in confusion. And the other soldiers being busy by busy reading books or random shit didn't not suspect anything, since they're busy with whatever they're doing.

"Don't ask me, I don't fucking know either" Norvik answered as he stood up from his place while the book started to slowly flip the page in a much faster rate.

And it started to emit light from the inside of the page flipping ass book.

"What the fuck, now there's light!?"

"What in the lords of the ring shit is even happening to your book!?" a Marine right beside them exclaimed and stood up in surprise after seeing the book doing weird ass lords of the rings shit. Even the other soldiers near the man noticed the light or heard the Marine's ass about the book.

"HEY WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON THERE?" Madison asked in the distance of the library, wondering what the fuck is going on with the commotion and that bright straight light beam seen behind on the stacks of shelves covering the actual view. But no one responded to her question as the soldiers inside the building was wondering about the light.

"Uh.. Man, I really want to panic right now! And I really-really suggest is to close the fucking book like right now!?" Tanner said, kinda on the verge of a panic, probably he felt something not good with the book.

"Hey dude I agree with your buddy, pal! Maybe closing it would be good" the Marine who recently exclaimed agreed with tanner. And everyone seeing that shit got some of them all spooked up, and Norvik is even confused on what to do while the book gets faster on flipping on its own... And then after some white symbol showed up on the ground, or under the table's ass which a lot of them saw.

"Uhh... Homie there's some demonic symbol now!" Merrick pointed at the symbol under the table, and it's not a demonic symbol. And Norvik is distracted by the epileptic light but still snaps his head to the ground to see the symbol. It ain't demonic and shit, it's just a white circle with some unknown writing, more like a symbol from some fantasy stuff he sees in movies and anime.

"Fuck it I'm closing the book" Norvik said as he turned his head back to the book and started reaching his hand out.

"Hey, are you sure about that? It might blow your ass off buddy" one of the random soldiers said, pretty sure he's correct since it's doing some weird magical shit under the table... Well Norvik stopped for a second to think about it but still instead he turned his head back while his hands got closer to the book.

"Well I'll just close the bo-" he was cut off as the ground and as well the book shined up so bright it consumed him, and quickly followed his friends, as well growing to consume the rest of the library, and then…

Well...

The whole base…

Guess this is the start then...

Time for them to do their best shit to survive...

"Ugh shit... What the fuck just happened?" The voice of Merrick was heard groaning in pain. And they were inside an MTF/Military Treatment Facility or either their own military hospital. With Norvik and Merrick right beside each other on medical beds, and it looks like Merrick is getting comfortable.

"Ow fuckin..." Norvik said as he opened his eyes, he groaned, feeling the pain on his body. Like he slept on a hard cold floor with a bad sleeping position.

Norvik then raised his ass up from the soft bed he was in and touched the railing on the side. Which was the medical bed's small railing which raised an eyebrow about the railing. And then he then widened his eyes in realization.

"A hospital bed?" he said, as he looked around his surroundings. He saw the kinda white colored walls and black striped edges of the walls, as he saw numerous more medical beds around with soldiers on them, with one of them being merrick, and other beds being occupied by either unconscious soldiers or some that unfortunately got injured. He wasn't even aware of what's happening as he saw Medics and Corpsmen checking on all of them.

"What the fuck..." he cursed as he turned to Merrick laying on the bed... Sleeping, facing the opposite direction of Norvik.

"Merrick" he called, but no response.

Fake snore*

"Seriously man" he murmured to himself. Scritching his head, he immediately decided to shout his ass up.

"Yuh, bed's soft, the doctors already checked, been waiting for you to wake up" He said while still laying on the bed, as someone approached from behind Norvik.

"Wha-" he tried to look behind him but instead got his jaw grabbed tight and a flashlight flashed on his eyes. He can't see shit, but Merrick saw a nurse inspecting his eyes and shit by pretty much forcing his ass.

Norvik then got his hands on the hand that's holding his jaw hostage, as he frantically started tapping on the hand or arm.

"Hold on let me check your eyes" the female probably Medic or Corpsewoman said as Norvik grunted and slaps her arm as she kept flashing the light on his eyes for a second till then she turned the shit off and stopped. Norvik then rubbed his eyes and hell it obviously hurts, Merrick is just looking at the female Medic or nurse stunned at what she did.

"Do you feel differently? dizziness, anything weird?" the medic asked Norvik as he looked at her to see her face, a female, a skinny blonde one with short hair, with a serious face.

"No I'm ok, except for grabbing my fuckin jaw, Jesus..." he said, quite annoyed on what she recently did, and she just looks at him and scratches her head. She then grabbed an infrared temperature gun from her belt filled medical equipment and pointed it at his head.

Click*

Beep*

The temp gun beeped as the results of his temp showed up on the small screen of the temp gun, the medic looked at the results as she saw the usual normal 36.5.

"Ok then. Your temp is fine. Wait for a while, you'll be taking quick blood tests later" she informed as she reseted the temp gun and hung it on her belt.

"Yeah, yeah" Norvik nodded as he rubbed his face, since he was unconscious for a while, before she came back with a needle gun, and the needle gun looks like those healing needle guns you'd see in video games or movies and serieses.

"That's a needle gun right?" Norvik asked as he looked at the needle gun, it didn't look threatening though.

"Yeah" she said as she got the needle gon over his shoulder and shot the needle gun, quickly grabbing some of his blood"

"Ouch" Norvik responded with barely any emotion from that.

"Get up and try moving a bit" She ordered as she opened a part of the needle gun and grabbing a small vial filled with his blood, and Norvik complied and just nodded and stood up. Then walked around a bit and moved his arms and neck.

He didn't feel anything differently bad, and with the body pain wearing off. And It took th4m 20 minutes, till they are allowed to get out of the MTF or Military Treatment Facility.

And as well they were called in by the LTG or the Lieutenant General for important purposes, so recently the blood tests were a bit rushed, but they were both clear for any diseases or anomalies.

And by the time they exited the Military hospital, Norvik and Cole saw personnel from all three branches, armed to the teeth, some Bradleys, Humveee, and some AN/TWQ-1 Avengers (Humvees with AA missiles) were all over the place. Everyone in the base is ready for any attack, hospital or medical vehicles moving all over the place by transporting injured or responding for emergencies, they even saw a smoke up in the distance, not far from their location, and it looked like some fire occurred from wherever the smoke was.

"Damn... What the fuck happened when we were out?" Merrick asked, stunned by what he and Norvik were seeing as they walked down the sidewalk. They even came across a burnt down Humvee, with some skeletal remains with some soldiers inspecting the burnt vehicle and Gathering the bones of whoever was in there.

"Jesus christ" one of the medics near the burned wreckage of the humvee said, while he just watched some 2 other MP soldiers inspecting the cooked humvee and Gathering the remains of the burned skeletons. They were surprised... Stunned by the sight.

One of the MP soldiers was reading a report about the recent events. And his face shows his confusion about something he is reading.

"1 damaged housing, a barracks, 7 burned vehicles, 4 humvees, 1 hospital humvee and JLTV, 1 transport truck, 3 burned civilian vehicles, 15 dead, all military personnel... 7 dead oversized lizards and 4 unknowns?" the soldier said in confusion as he double checked the page he was reading.

"Hey dude, what's with these oversized lizards, on the reports?" he asked his colleague that was arranging the bones, remains of some soldiers who burned inside the Humvee, and his voice caused both Norvik and Cole to stop and listen for a second, so they'll know what's going on, or what happened at least.

"Well the time we shot down one of those unknowns from the air, some of the guys checked out the wreckage or crash site of those things and confirmed it is an oversized lizard, lenghting to 15 meters... And as well it has a saddle equipped on it. And all lizards had it, they only found 3 shattered bodies" his buddy explained, and the MP guy and the Medic listened.

"This shit all real though right, sounds like dragons came down attacking us?" He asked, still confused. The paper he read and heard all sounded like it came from some lord of the rings stuff.

"It's what the report says, it's either real, undescribable, or whatever the fuck you'd put it for yourself" the other MP guy said as the other MP guy nodded, still he doesn't believe it.

Norvik and Cole overheard the conversation, about the reports they had about the "Oversized lizards" and it sounds so not real thingy thing. So now they have info of whatever attacked them, they would like or need to find out more, and they will get answers by looking at reports, asking soldiers or talking to LtG. Hipper for more info.

"Guess the book might've something to do with this shit?" Merrick guessed, whispering to Norvik's ear, and he didn't like that so he waved his hand around Merrick's face.

"I dunno, and please don't do that to my ear" he said which made Merrick chuckle, while they just stood there, they kept seeing soldiers, medics running all over the place, even some F-16V Vipers and C/Ds along with some F-22s, scrambled up over their airspace, and as well Helicopters scrambling all around. And the sounds of shouting men and women all over the atmosphere of the base, and the air feels a bit heavy.

And they are still to continue walking to the command center of the base.

BLAIR BLAIR BLAIR* The speakers hanging on the corner walls of the structures or lamp posts started to Blair unexpectedly, so loud it alerted everyone.

Multiple soldiers were confused, and alerted. Some took cover in buildings, some grabbed their guns and readied up. No one knows what's coming, and both Cole and Norvik took cover right besides an M2 Bradley, near one of the housings, and grabbed their standard issued pistols, the M18s.

"Hey look over there!" a Marine shouted, pointing at an unknown object on the sky af the South-East, it's unknown and it's surely a threat.

"Unkown air contact South-East 50 up, 20 kilometers, switch to long range missiles. And turn this fucking turret around!" the Commander of the nearby Avenger shouted his order as the turret of the avenger turned around and tracked the target on the sky.

"Lock on it! Lock on it!"

"Man that's too far away! It won't reach 25km!" one of the crew of the Avenger informed, the range of the avenger is over 5km, and the upgraded versions of it like having the long range missiles is over 15 km. And it's pretty bad for them.

"God dammit!" the Commander cursed as the Avenger's turret just looks up the sky and he watches the unknown object diving down, and yet he's there hoping the other stationary anti air systems takes it out.

Blair Blair Blair*

INCOMING INCOMING INCOMING!*

The alarm kept on going, the nearby avenger can't move or either lock onto the unknown object.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh*

Missiles were seen launched to the, not multiple, but somewhere to 1 or 2 of them was heading to intercept.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRT*

--Melromarc, Wyvern Scout Squadron--

--Unknown time and calendar--

In an unknown time and sky, a wyvern recon knight was angry, very angry, mixed with fear and revenge... The knight was with his comrades who was sent out to do a recon mission after one of their citizens with magic sense something big outside the border fort.

They don't know what it is, but they rather check it out just in case anything the citizen sensed was would be a dangerous shit...

For example...

A Military Force that values lives over theirs and has a mind of an actual human being.

Right now he was just diving down mindelssy because of his feelings of rage and revenge.

"I'LL FUCKING KILL ALL OF Y-"

BRRRRRRRRRRRRT*

TRRRRRRT*

WHOOSH BOOM BOOM BOOM*

And thus that person got overkilled by 3 missiles and a whole line of red tracers coming from the CRAM, it was unexpected for him, but for anyone that doesn't have knowledge or expirience in modern combat, they would have immediate PTSD.

And the Wyvern and Knight were either on pieces, falling like paper.

And God take care of that guy's soul after being ripped apart from that horrific shit.

--JFB Kolwat--

--Unkown Location, Unkown Calendar--

"Jesus christ, that was overkill"

"What the fuck was even diving down at the base Cumpa?"

"I heard those objects going down, was an oversized lizard with wings"

"Was it?"

"I'm not sure, it's what I heard"

"Dragons?"

"I don't even fucking know. Maybe... Yeah"

Soldiers, Marines, Airmans... They were all surprise of how overkill that was, 3 whole lines of red tracers probably coming from the stationary C-RAMs or some M113 VAADs, and two Anti Air missiles came from either the Avengers or the Iron dome, but the dome doesn't fire 2 missiles at once against 1 target, so it could be the Avenger that fired, or either some dudes with stingers.

The personnel watched as the unknown object fell down slowly like it was paper.

"Damn" Cole muttered, as he and Norvik watched the unknown object slowly fall, like it's paper gently going down. A lot of soldiers are theorizing it's the Chinese, but the Chinese doesn't have the power to even reach them yet deep in the Mainland since they'll only be detected by the Japanese-American fleet, or either the US-Taiwanese fleet and the US-Canadian fleet or the Russian ones, and Russians won't be able to attack the US since the US and Russia are allies, trading partners, but the problem is there are rumors saying the unknown object was some oversized lizard with wings, a dragon or wyvern, whatever... It's unbelievable, all that shit sounding like it came from a book.

"Was that an Aircraft Homie?" Merrick asked, unsure of what object that was. And they were pretty sure it's bad

"I don't know" he answered, as both of them and alongside other soldiers watched the unknown object fall like paper in the distant sky of their airspace.

"That was pretty fucking overkill"

Norvik turned his head around to see Merrick watching the thing fall down slowly "Hey, we better go now Cole, the General won't be waiting for long" he said. Cole nodded as both of them got out from their cover and started jogging towards the command center.

--8 minutes later, Command and Control--

The two have arrived at the command center, right in front of the glass door. Norvik noticed a sniper and some infantry on top of the roof of the CC, on high alert, guns ready, some specific buildings had soldiers on the roofs too, armed with heavy weapons, like 20mm, 50. Cals, and some 40 Mike mikes.

And there's question that Norvik and Merri k has in mind... Who the fuck attacked them? why? What's their reason? No one knows.

The two then entered the building to the main lobby. They saw a lot of officers running around with files, guards staying in place, guarding whatever they're guarding.

"Hey, Sergeant, Hip's waiting for ya at his office! Sounds important!" one of the guards near the counter of the lobby informed him, but Norvik already knows, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded.

"Yeah I know, thanks for the reminder" he thanked and the guard gave a thumbs up to him as they both immediately headed to the stairwell.

As they continued, Norvik took the lead since he knew where LtG. Shipper's office was. His office is on the 3rd floor of the building, and it's not easy to miss at least.

They then got to the top floor or the 3rd floor of the Command Center, they then met up with a hallway, a hallway of doors from other offices or workplaces for the officers of the base. And it looks like a normal civilian office. And at the very far back, Hipper's office is seen there, Norvik can see Ela and Tanner sitting down and Hipper looking at some papers, and they're waiting for someone, and the ones they're waiting for them.

"There they are"

The two now got to the entrance of Lieutenant General Hipper's door which they both stopped for a second, and both Ela and Tanner standing up inside.

"Let's hope for something good" Norvik said as Merrick just looked at him.

Norvik opens the door and both entered the room. seeing Hipper, on his seat, looking at papers of reports, and Ela and Tanner standing up.

"Sir" the two stood straight and saluted as Hipper looked at the two as he sighed.

"Cut that shit kids, Norvik get over here" He ordered, the two stopped saluting, Norvik then heads over the table, and Hipper pulls out a map and a folder and slammed it on his desk.

"What's this sir?" Norvik asked about the map and folder. Norvik just glares at his eyes.

"Open the folder, see for you're self" he said.

Norvik then grabbed the folder and opened it, which gave him a view of a pile of pictures... And he. Couldn't believe his eyes, he never knew this would happened, he never knew this existed.

The rumors were true about those oversized lizards, and it was a wyvern, it's face still intact, but some of its body parts are in pieces, and dismembered human parts.

An image of all 4 gate entrances of the base, with no connected asphalt roads, only grass and trees, and some unknown species or critters coming on around.

"I've gotten reports at the checkpoints, gates the guards, all saw plain green fields and forests all over us, we lost all comms between Washington and other bases, and right now they'll be panicking for our dissappearance since we're vital to the government and military, and then we have some dragon like bastards burning down our men and equipment, and a book that actually caused all this" Hipper said, he sounds half pissed of the situation, and it is confirmed they're in another world... And those wyverns and unknown critters is kinda enough to be evidence.

"I've seen you read some fantasy books, you may have recommendations on what to do, in a short explanation... I'm pretty sure" he asked the sergeant as his buddies just looks at him.

"I would rather suggest Reconnaissance, Intel gathering and getting in contact with some local village or town, map out everything near our base... Have a lot of personnel equipped with Thermals, since magic would be a pain in the ass. And the recon should have at least a heavy vehicle like a tank or IFV, whatever it would fit it, and have everyone on high alert." he answered, all of those suggestion were good, but is it really a good idea to bring up some dudes with guns who may be possibly captured or killed. Well, both yes and no.

"Those are very good suggestions Sergeant, I only needed what you have in mind" He responded at his answer. He liked it, pretty sure he has the same thing in mind.

"Dismissed" he dismissed them, with all three of Norvik's friends then left the room, while he was gonna exit Hipper's office, Hipper spoke again "And Norvik, I need a word with you" he ordered, which Norvik stopped and turned around back to him once again.

"I'm gonna let you form up a unit for Reconnaissance, you're own squad" he said, Norvik was stunned, confused. Forming up a squad and yet picking any guys to be in his squad, he never had to lead a group of 7 or 12 soldiers to battle, just only in training and drills... He was always unsure if he could lead a squad to an actual battle since he was just a Corporal back in Syria. But it's a recon mission, and it won't be as bad as he thinks it is, as he hopes it isn't.

"Wait y-"

"I said. Form your unit and for Recconisance purposes, you may have your uses in leadership" Hipper explained as he then grabbed some papers and started to do some paperwork, now ignoring Norvik.

"Yes sir" he nodded as he turns around towards the door.

"James" Hipper called him by his first name which made Norvik to turn to him.

"Just call me Hipper if it's just the two of us... We have known each other for 6 years since your father introduced me to you... Well… Now go do your job" he said since they both knew each other for a few years after his dad introduced him to him, and that makes Hipper an Uncle for James. Hipper grabbed some files on his table's drawer to start reading some shit in it while Norvik just looked at him.

Norvik sighed as he turned back to the door and exited the room. And outside is his friends waiting for him.

Hipper knows James's father well before, best friends since highschool, still best friends even if they had different jobs, his dad works as an IT on some organization, and Hipper being a soldier climbing the ranks.

They had a habit of smoking, which was the cause of death of Jane's father, dying from king cancer and other diseases caused by cigars, which made Hipper stop smoking. But he still had the urge to smoke again, but he still resists it...

Right now he has to contact the two other High Ranking Officers from the Marines and Airforce.

Those guys have a lot to discuss about.
