Hey guys, so on the conditions on my frien I will saw there is hope of some recovery. My great thanks to all of you who left kind words. Now on with the storry getting back into this chapter was hard but I hope you enjoy my attempt at the first real battle. Also the poll result shows that Lance will have himself a (Smal?) harem in this story and that I am going to bully both Ren and Juan. on the topic of lemons, I have decided to put them in a seprait story from now on as that allows me more freedom to place them in the timeline and does not impact me in writing the chapters themselves. Lastly the first chapter of my Danny phantom & Erma crossover is live so if you are interested stop on by. Now pleas enjoy.
Angela Ziegler looked up from her work and into Her friend's smiling face. The leaking, rickety farm house had been turned into an ER for the last 6 hours. Only minutes ago, Lena had been a translucent blue whole could hardly be heard. It had taken Angela hours to find out what had happened, and even more to get Lena fully tangible again.
Lena shifted the harness to be more comfortable, The contraption was a pair of belts Angela had.. Borrowed from some of their hosts and a triangle of a strange blue metal they had found close to the Clock hand shaped item and stone slab that had caused this mess.
"Interesting the Metal seemed to channel the magic and keep it stable, I believe you should be able to be back to town with the supplies tonight."
The brunet smiled at the doctor, not the least at the thought of not having to worry about spending the night under an outlaw's roof.``Ah much better, thanks luve if i had come back as a ghost Emily would have killed me proper. Whatever that strange clock thingy was messed me up something fierce."
"Your welcome Tracer," The young doctor stated as she took a sip from what the gang had called tea, it was a good thing Lena had not been coporial at that time as a tea connoisseur she found the steeped red grass an insult. "I only wish you and Fareeha had been more careful that energy blast Fareeha produced really hurt Brigitte and those skeleton things did not help matters either."
"How are they?" Tracer asked The 4 girls were known as team prodigy Lena Tracer Oxten was a ace pilot from the streets of Vale, Angela Mercy Ziegler had become a doctor at fifteen years old and had made breakthrough after breakthrough in the past five years. Together with their teammates Fareeha 'Pharah' Amari a huntress prodigy. And the engineer Brigitte Lindholm, they had been part of a specialist branch of an international huntsman program. Overwatch, a program that next to the usual protection of remnant, focused on development in the hope of uniting Remnants people. Lena had never really known why their order was so focused in that endeavor as worthy as it was. Until they had found Juan who had explained the relics to them.
"Fareeha will be okay with some bed rest, but Brigitte" Angela's eyes wandered over towards the sleeping girl. Her face was scared and uneasy. Flinching in her slumber as is haunted by something dangerous.
"Brigitte has had a close call, I'm keeping her here for observation." Angela said
Lena Looked at her friend, shock evident in her eyes."You are staying here? Here with Ash and her gang? How bloody desperate are we?" Lena balled her fist.
Ashes deadlock gang had been some of the biggest Thorne's in their side since they had been greenlite for field work. The gang was an anarchist group, Which is one of the biggest pains in the neck when your only way to save the world is unite it. However, everything had escalated when Bacon had fallen. The enemy had a relic. and the huntsman were having a bad time. when Strike commander Morrison had given them the order a sizeable task force had made for Atlas only to find the city at the brink of collapse they had been surprised by the appearance of what she now knew was a maiden, and it had resulted in them falling into the depths. Lena shook off her anger, old grudges would only serve to make stuff worse.
Angela sighed, she had her own problems with their current state, When they went to Atlas they had taken something precious with them, an old set of crusader armor, hoping it would be useful for the Atlassian military to reproduce for their specialists. Now she had traded it, a relic of her organization and the keepsake Professor Reinhard had left of his former friend, for some food. It tasted foul in her mouth when they had agreed. Even if the deadlocks had been respectful after they had fended off the skeletal horde together. For all her flaws Ash had a sense of honor among warriors.
"Promise me you get back safe, Teasing Juan and Hana won't be the same with only me and Fareeha."
The two hugged before Mercy went into the kitchen and let herself fall on the make shift cot, and Lena collected Fareeha to leave with the provisions and the objects they had found. Fareeha scowled at the glowing stone she had discovered in a field close by.
"It almost cost us our friend, and yet we can't afford to get rid of it."
They started pushing the cart.
"You think they be fine, Lena?" The Vacuo native asked her friend as she brushed a ebony lock of hair out of her bronze face showing a hieroglyph tattoo over her eye.
"Don't know, luve, I have a bad feeling about this. Like that, everything will be different after this."
Unbeknownst to them, their team had just been disbanded and would never be gathered as equals again.
From the hillside swelled a shadow as the overlord approached, his minions brandishing clubs and singing their crude marching songs. Lance hand went to the spyglass on his hip and looked at the leaving cart. His mouth formed a smile as he saw the stone slab.
"Gnarl is that?"
"Yes that is a spell stone sire, a pity they are that far away, I fear you won't be able to catch up to them. Perhaps you can persuade some of the locals to help get them back."
The minions started to get exited as they approached the farm, Lance had to command them not to wreak havoc upon it. Usually, tearing down a farmstead was a rite of passage for Overlords, but that was in a world where food and farms were plentiful. The abyss had neither as far as he knew. If this place had managed to sustain this group of survivors for the past few weeks, it was safe to eat these produces. Though Lance did pause at how they appeared. Tomatoes pulsed, pumpkins showed teeth, and the apples at a tree screamed as they fell and split apart on the ground. Closest to normal were some strawberries who were merely black. Lance heard a growling noise from a nearby pen. There were piglike creatures inside, the sound of a slamming door made him turn around.
"If you like walking on your own legs, you stay where you are."
The speaker was an enormous man both in size and gurt his face was hidden by a mask but being familiar with Faunus by now, Lance imagined the boar like tusks were all too real. He held up a short double barreled gun in one hand and a hook and chain hang at his belt. Around him were a group of farm hands or that was what lance took them for considering they clasped farm tools some had knifes or clubs, one or two had guns.
One shot and help will come running runt. So be smart and get your arse out of here.
Lance grinned in the shadow of his helmet, the weight of his blade felt reassuring even though he missed his armor the leather and chain mail felt frail even if he was now used to his aura. His finger caressed the button that would shift his weapon to its gun mode. He was not a trained shooter, nowhere near the level of Ruby or Blake. But he could hit a target. The sound of shifting gears bled into the sound of its opening salvo. As a rain of deadly amo thore into the farmers, it was clear to see which ones where experienced fighters as the took cover. Inexperienced fools that ran towards him. And none combatants who dropped what they held and ran for the hills until a bullet ripped into their Auraless flesh. Brown and red orbs littered the ground as they fell, the survivors whimpered in agony and fear. The browns yelled in excitement as the overlord ordered them into the fray. The fools that had run at their master were the first to fall damaged untrained aura broke under the horde as minions jumped and climbed over them from the back reds lobbed their fireballs turning the hiding places of the more experienced fighters into blazes forcing them to meet the now advancing overlord head on. Lance did note that some of them had a certain measure of skill but their weapons, mostly simple salvaged or homemade firearms or blunt weapons, did not hold against the overlords newly forged blade. Nor did their aura hold out long against his lightning whip. The boar Faunus tried to shoot at the young man, but a group of browns now armed with the fallen defender's weapons started peppering him, jumping on his arm and messing up his aim. One shot of his gun managed to obliterate an imp, and his hook slashed away another. But the horde had found a dangerous enemy and focused on him. Their fists claws and teeth tore at his aura. Fireballs ricashade of his skin painfully. Finally, a loud shot flung a now headless minion of him. The minions saw the glint of a scope on the rooftop. And a smoke like figure racing towards them. At the order of their master they ran back to his side, the smoke stopped and took the form of a dark-skinned man.
"Road hog get everyone inside, we keep him out."
Roadhog nodded at The man and left for the farm, scooping up two farmers on his way. The minions rallied to their master's side, The man raised a pair of shotguns with axe blades on the bottom of their barrels. "And who the hell are you."
"I am the Overlord, and with who do I have the honor of crossing blades?"
"My name is Gabriel. Remember it they probably have a special wing in hell for all the bastards I have sent down."
"And your friend up there?"
Gabriel narrowed his eyes, "You are not going to need her name."
"I ask her myself then."
Lance struck out only for the man to turn into a smoke like vapor and the unknown marks' woman took a shot that would have taken Lance arm haden't it been for his aura. Luckily, she wasn't the only ranged fighter around. Red minions had taken shelter behind a crate and as soon as Gabriel re-appeared lobed fireballs at him his aura prevented him from catching fire but it did damage his aura aiming his gun at the crate he let of a shot of buck only to see the dammed things run to another cover and leaving him open for a group of browns to climb over him more surprising to him was that these little demons actually matched him in a fight pairing and dodging his close ranged strikes and being peppered by the red devils as he fought, but the so-called overlord had not made his second attack that's when he heard another gun shot.
"Amily!"
Gabriel danced out of the way of a minions pitchfork as he saw the overlord doge a sniper round and trow a brown at the sniper, the woman screamed as the brown minion landed on the rifle and wrestled her for the weapon while its master made for the ladder next to the structure
Before he could react, a handful of fireballs hit Gabriel square in the back as a pitchfork stabbed him in the back of his knee his aura flared a dreadful black as smoke rose from his person puffs of dark vapor came from his mouth as he exhaled the pain was dimmed until the sound of crackling electricity and a icy blue pierced the sky in the corner of his vision everything slowed down and dimmed except for her voice, screaming in unimaginable pain. The soldiers hands flew wide the axe heads on his guns wounding a incoming minion and flinging another of him as he screamed in wrath
"Die! Die! Die! all of you bastards fucking Die!" in a whirlwind of death the minions either ran or fell as once more the man turned to vapor and raced towards the roof tackling the overlord of the structure away from his friend the two man wrestled and Gabrielle put his hands around the neck of his enemy who pushed at his chest that's when he felt it a pull at his very soul. The smoke that came of him slowly faded as did his aura and then it was all gone. In a clout of inky black, his hands were empty.
"So that's what I felt." The young overlord said as he saw his hand materialize from the smoke his aura felt stronger and this new power "a semblance that steels semblances, battlefields just turned into candy shops."
Gabriel turned around and was met by a blade to the chest, he saw a shadow on the roof heading down…..she was safe….they would get away….He never got to say goodbye….he never got to apologize…he never got to hear his daughter call him dad.
Inside of the homestead, Ash sat ducked behind a flipped table. The white hared wolf faunus looked at the faces next to her. Jamison Fawkes was as she only now realized a childhood friend. Every time she had run from atlas to be a Faunus away from the glittering cage and loneliness, he had been there. And Cassady, oh Cassady. Ash remembered that first night of the deadlock gang. an abused ranchers son and a runaway rich girl. It had been good bad and ugly, and if there was something waiting for them she hoped they could do it all over again. Then there were the strangers. Like heroes riding out from almost forgotten stories, a shield maiden and an angel had come to her side. Angela held a broken but working cadoues staff in one hand and a hand gun in the other. Brigitte decked out in her armor held her flail ready. The brunet was a marvel in Ashe's mind. Just minutes ago she was sleeping of a near fatal injury and here she was wide awake and ready, running on a potent mix of aura adrenalin and sheer willpower. Even if she was shaking and wincing with almost every move.
"Angela." The shield maiden said.
"Yes?"
"Soak the raisins in amaretto." Brigette smiled at Angela's confused expression.
"The secret of mamas apple pie there is more but that's the main thing. Thought you might like a extra reason to get us out of this mess."
The young doctor smiled. That's when the door gave in and the sound of a snapping set of metal jaws came from its direction. The gunners dipped from their hiding places and emptied their clips,
Cassady let out a cry in victory. "His aura is down sick em!"
Bridgette jumped over the table, letting a blue energy shield spring to life. A thruster in the back of her armor spewed flame as she charged and hit the Overlord head on. She was expected to smash her captured foe against or even through a nearby wall. But to her surprise, she was stopped dead in her tracks. The Overlord loomed over Bridgette, the creature's face was obscured by am unnatural shadow that seemed not to be natural. All except two burning red eyes that looked at her, impressed?
"What?! How are you?!"
The overlord wissled and from the ruined door Brigette saw the remaining minions run at the call of their master fear took hold of her heart as she knew that they would free their lord and that she could not hold them forever, already the sparks of the overlords lighting ran over her shield. Glaring at her foe she yelled at her allies, she was ready to join her predecessors.
"Junk rat. I'm going out with a bang!"
Junk rat pulled out a detonator and pushed the button as soon as he thought the explosion would be survivable. the blast flung them away in different directions, Jamie felt a huge arm grab him by the back and lift him up a few minutes after landing in the dirt.
"Junk Rat! Jamie what happened?" Came Roadhog's bellowing voice.
"That fucker ain't human hog. Or it wasn't. Get fucked, you bastard! Let's see ya come back from that!" Junk rat barked at the skies in angry triumph, he had no love for the members of overwatch but he would not deny that these lot had died as heroes.
"Uhm Jamie….." Casedy who had climbed back to his feet said. Holding his revolver in a shaking hand.
From the wreckage a silhouette was visible caring a great blade and dragging a still form behind him. Angry red eyes stared at them from a now helmless face. The laughter of red minions was audible as they cleared the way.
"Bloody hell if that ain't enough to kill him what will?"
"Not us Run!"
"Right, ladies let's….oh no!" Junk rat said as he saw it
From a small bit away The three could see an looming purple cloud come towards them and the coughs of Angela and ash followed it, Mako pulled Jamison up his shoulder and booked it to the barn. Praising whoever was out there that he had tried to drive his motorcycle through the portal in atlas rather than walk, he jumped on the machine and kicked it into gear as Jamison buckled up in the side cart and Cassady held on to the spoiler for dear life. They didn't speak, they knew that they had been criminals before, but that thing behind them that was pure and simply evil.
"Roady.?" Junk rat said eventually.
"Yhea?"
"We can't let that thing get to remnant."
"No…..we can't…."
They drove off screams haunted them then, and they knew they would hear them in their dreams from then on.
Blake looked up from her book as she heard a knock on her door opening it she saw a table in the middle of the privet quarters decked out with food and drink her friends were taking place around it and waved her to join she felt an arm slip around her as Lance pulled her close and walked her to the table. "I hope this will satisfy your appetite, Blake."
"Are you kidding it looks fantastic" she eagerly sat down Yang took place next to her which made lance look up.
"Yang, I haven't asked what you wanted?"
Yang leaned in close to Lance and whispered something in his ears. She was absolutely radiant when he nodded in approval. That was when Weiss stood up and backend a small group of minions with instruments.
"In Western lands now sets the sun.
The flowers wilt in spring
the trees may burn red water run.
Cruel fate may sing.
Or maybe now its dark of night,
and empty streets now are.
The silent stars like jewels white in horror do they stare
Though at evils side I lay embraced by darkness deep.
Watch from a tower strong rising above all mountains steep.
Rising shadow eclipses sun within my hearth shall dwell.
I know now that light is done and bid the good farwell."*
The feast continued till near morning, and laughter and song flowed with the honeyed tide of mead. When Lance went to his rest He was surprised to see both Weiss and Ruby had followed him. They took his arms and lead him to the private both of there surprise Weiss went on her knees.
"I give my self to you, the two leaders who have given me more than you have taken, I will bow to no other mortal. All Hail you my High king and high queen."
In the next room blake was stunned as she saw Yang in a wedding gown made of fire waiting for her.
"You have gotten better with that magic, is that why you have been in the arena so much?"
"Yhea"
There was a long silence between the two. Blakes eyes darted to her dresser there a folded picture laid of the 4 of them the first day after there team formed the knight pieces held high in triumph "Nothing was ever going to go back to normal was it? Has anything gone unchanged?"
Yang's flames disappeared, the growing darkness was now the only thing that hid the blonde's now rouge skin as she drew close to her partner. Who blushed being perfectly able to see everything in the dark.
"There is one thing, will you be with me Blake at masters side and at each others till this tower falls?"
Blakes eyes caught the object in Yangs hand and allowed it to be pushed around her finger.
"In his eyes with his blessings I am yours you are mine and we are his, I love you yang."
Those where the last words she remembered speaking that night the last sound she remembered before bliss made her deaf to all but her lover was her clothes hitting the floor of the chamber
As night deepened and Ruby had fallen in a blissful sleep as Weiss was pressed between the two people she had acknowledged as her masters.
"Why were you afraid to let me hear you sing."
Weiss nuzzled herself in closer. "It's more what I sang, Father was very controlling in what I sang and holiday carols were seen as high treason."
Did he beat you?
She shook her head. "He would beat my mother. Next time I see him I'm going to have my fun. For now, I'm just happy to be yours rather than his." She smiled, she was still not ready to say she loved him but if tonight was a taste of what there relationship could be. Well, whoever said that a contract marriage had to be boring in the bedroom.
