Chapter 3: The Second Day and Club Fair
The next day aka Tuesday...
In the Boy's Dorm, Kappei just woke up but was still feeling a bit down. "When will the power awaken in me…" He asked himself as Gumchi woke up. "Mornee! Mornee!"
"Glad to have you with me." Kappei told him as he stood up and went to freshen up. "I shouldn't worry for now. The awakened power will soon awaken in me. I just hope it'll take effect..."
Later on, he's in the dining hall waiting in line for breakfast. Upon his turn, he was served an omelette with 2 sausages and a butter roll. "Nice!" He thought as he looked around for a seat when, "Kap! Over here man!" (
He looked to see Archie waving at him and 2 other boys are also seated with him so he made his way there and, "Sup guys!"
"Yo Kappei."
"An honour to meet."
"If you remember clearly, Cruz and Jeong are in our class." Archie brought up to him as he sat with them. "True. Saw them use their power."
"An interesting statement." said Jeong as he ate a sausage while gaming on his phone. "Anyway, we still have time before we head to school. So why not we talk about ourselves?"
"Sure thing Jeong." said Cruz.
"Yeah why not." Archie agreed.
"Alright then." Kappei pitched in and he took a bite on his butter roll.
"Marvellous. I'll go first. I'm from South Korea and at a young age, I'm addicted to the mastery of computers." Jeong began as he paused his game. "From gaming to researching various databanks, I sort of enhanced my mindset to the point I ended up doing that holographic projection around me."
"Oh! So you're one of those that awakened their power at a young age! Sensei did mention this yesterday." Kappei remembered.
"Exactly! Now this power in me was a great surprise to my parents. In fact, the ninja clan I come from has some members with the tech skills besides the ninja arts. As a result, I was sent to the WNA Academy in Seoul for 3 years and after that, I was sent here." Jeong concluded his story as the boys were impressed and he resumed his gaming.
"My turn! I come from Brazil firstly and secondly, I played a lot of football. When I entered the WNA Academy, they let us play football during our free time! Now I aim to join the football club in this school." Cruz spoke his story and up next, is Archie.
"So how do I begin...I'm from UK. I spent my life learning the ninja arts and playing video games with 2 themes. Ninjas and racing. Especially Gran Turismo. Due to that, I have a knack for motorsports in which I read about car engines, tuning and many more." Archie began and he paused to eat his sausage.
"You play Gran Turismo? That's cool man! Do you even have that game simulation?" Jeong asked.
"Yup! It was moved to my dorm room 2 days before I came here. Like you guys, I went to the WNA Academy and it's in London and after 3 years, I'm enrolled here." Archie finished his story. "And Kappei, you're the last."
"Alright then. I was born in Iga, a shinobi village in Oedo and I spent my life learning and training the way of the shinobi under my grandfather. At the right timing, I went to the WNA Academy in Eagle City because my uncle who's also my grandfather's brother was there and he's the current leader of the WNA."
"Whoa! He's the leader? Can't believe you're related to him!" Cruz exclaimed.
"In addition, they say he's one of the founders! An incredible discovery!" Jeong exclaimed.
Continuing on, "After my 3 years there, I returned to my village to continue honing my shinobi skills until I was told that I was enrolled here." Kappei ended his story as, "Man Kap. You're something." said Archie.
"You have this habit of calling me this nickname." He replied. "But it's up to you guys to address me in whatever you think it's best."
"No problem. And we have 15 minutes left till school begins." Jeong reminded the group and at the drop of the hat, the boys polished their breakfast and went up and back to their dorms to get ready.
Outside the school...
When the boys arrived, Emma also arrived at the same time. "Morning Kappei!"
"Morning Emma!"
The other boys woo at this as, "No way...so this is the Ninja Dancer!" Jeong exclaimed. "I do see those videos too!" said Cruz. "Yeah. And guess what? Those 2 know each other and they attend the same academy." Archie whispered to the boys and they whistled excitedly about it and gave Kappei the thumbs up regarding him and Emma.
"Odd." He thought as he and Emma walked together with the 3 boys following behind them.
In class...
"Before I begin, I need to elect 2 students to represent this class." Sensei Tatsu told the whole class. "One Class Representative and one Class Vice Representative."
"Me mates! I wanna lead the class and be the best shinobi ever!" Davis declared.
"I'm the strongest and buffest so I should be leader!" Bull declared.
"No way! You guys are too incompetent! I can do the leadership!" Chantelle declared and suddenly, a majority started arguing and hurling insults. "I think I'm hearing too much." Emma whispered to Kappei. "This might become a violent bedlam." Kappei whispered back but fortunately, "SILENCE!"
All sat down as, "Discuss this in a peaceful manner and by next week, I need the representatives." Sensei Tatsu ordered as math lesson began for the rest of the period recapping algebra and learning some more of it. In the next period is chemistry and their teacher, Dr Burns started the lesson with the periodic table as he taught the class the elements and compounds.
Biology is the next subject and it will involve animals and plants according to their teacher, Ms Lottie as she showed them a slideshow on what to expect for the class followed by some learning on the mammals, birds, fish and insects.
And finally, "We have Physical Education." Kappei thought and it cuts to the whole class at the track and field which surrounds the football field. All are wearing white T-shirts with black shorts along with their own socks and shoes.
"Perfect! The class is ready for some intense fitness training! Yeah!" All looked behind to see their coach. He's large, buff, has dark brown hair and wears sunglasses. "I'm your PE teacher aka coach! Call me, Coach Spruce and I'll spend the next 3 years with you lot to whip you into shape! For a ninja, they must be physically fit in their strength and speed to carry out their tasks!"
"My kind of class!" Bull declared.
"This might be tedious..." said Kurt.
"Alright! Let's get started with some warm-ups! Get in position and when I stretch, you'll all follow after me! Okay? Let's go!" Coach Spruce sure took the initiative as the class got into position and stretching begins. Arms and legs, they stretched and up next, "C'mon Class A! We're gonna run 3 laps on the track field! Run to my pace!" The coach ordered and they ran together as a class.
A few minutes later, "Alright. Go and take water and after that, we'll use the fitness corner at the left side of the field to do more training." Coach Spruce told the class as they went to take their water bottles to quench their thirst. But somehow, Hank stopped by to puke.
"You okay sport?"
"Fine coach...a little breathing difficulty..." Hank replied as he puked again.
"Tell you what, you can rest during the next training alright?"
"Sure coach. And I'll still train if I feel better."
"Up to you then. Just don't push yourself okay?" Coach Spruce sure prioritizes safety as he went to chat with some of the students.
"Coach Spruce's got heart when training us." Emma spoke up.
"Yeah. He does remind us of someone." Kappei brought up.
"You're right...he does." Emma replied when he approached them. "How you kids feeling?"
"All good. Say, can we talk after school?' Kappei asked.
"Sure. But I got paperwork to do so around 5pm, just wait outside the staff room and I'll meet and chat with you two. Make it short also." Coach Spruce gave them his answer and, "Alright students! To the fitness corner and I wanna see you do some push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups!"
The whole class groaned a bit but they obeyed and resumed their physical training. After that, it's over but before lunch break, they have to take a shower first and it's part of the school rules that all students must refresh themselves after PE classes.
Lunch hour...
"PE class really makes me very hungry." said Cruz as he ate a piece of beef from his beef stew followed by a scoop of his potato salad.
"To think this class trains us to improve on our physical fitness as ninjas." said Jeong as he ate a piece of his grilled halibut.
"It's damn tiring but worth it." said Kappei as he chomped onto a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Emma and Archie said nothing as they ate their respective lunches when suddenly, an interesting announcement was made.
Attention to all freshman. After school there will be a club fair and those wishing to attend can drop by at the gymnasium at 4pm. That is all and have a good day.
Upon hearing this, "Perfect! I'm gonna join the football club!" said Cruz.
"I'll be joining the computer club. My skills will come in handy." said Jeong.
"I'll just look around and see if anything interests me." said Archie.
"Same here." said Kappei with Emma nodding in agreement.
So after school...
At the gymnasium, many booths are set up for the many school clubs to promote their activity. Kappei and his friends have just arrived and they can see many freshmen gathered and waiting. "So now what?"
"The Student Council President is expected to deliver her welcoming speech." Jeong answered. "Heard she's a second-year student and very popular among her peers."
"And here she is." Archie pointed at the stage and there, a very beautiful girl with long, brown hair with some strands dyed red and fair skin appeared onstage. "She really is popular. An alluring beauty." Kappei exclaimed with a blush on his face. Apparently, this made Emma shocked at his new attraction and she looked away feeling uneasy. But also, a lot of the male freshmen also felt attracted to the SCP like magnets.
"Hello there freshman. I am the Student Council President, Coral Grayman. I welcome you all to our high school and here in this club fair, you are free to sign up for anything that interests you be it here or outside at the football field. There will first, be trial runs in the club and once you're used to it, your membership is secured. Now if anyone is interested to join the student council. Feel free to look for me for inquires or you can drop by at our booth to sign up for the membership. That is all and have a good day."
All the boys cheered and whistled out loud leaving some girls to turn green with envy especially when they have their own respective crushes. Emma on the other hand was a bit worried but no matter, everyone is splitting including the boys as Cruz and Jeong went to find the clubs they want to join and Archie left for the football to look around.
So it's only Kappei and Emma as they walked around and, "Whoa..." Kappei noticed the kendo club as some members are seen promoting the club and 2 of them are demonstrating a sword fight to some students using bokkens. (Wooden samurai swords)
"Well what are you waiting for? Go and sign up if you're interested." Emma encouraged him. "Will do!" Kappei dashed off and a couple of seconds later, "Done!"
"Alright then. Let's continue looking around." said Emma as they looked around for another minute when, "Are those students breakdancing on stage?" Kappei pointed out.
"Yeah...they are!" Emma took notice and they went to the scene where many are standing before the stage cheering as some members of a breakdance club displayed their moves. "Awesome!" Emma's eyes lit up in excitement as, "Hey, hey freshmen! Anyone wanna try to give us a performance?!" The club leader who's a second-year female student called out.
"I do!" Emma already took the initiative to display her dance moves as she jumped onstage ninja style. "Sweet! I'm Jordan and I'm the president of the Breakdance Club. Your name?"
"Emma." She introduced herself and somehow, all the dancers stopped dead on their tracks including the club president. "Okay...well, show us how you groove the dance floor."
So first, Emma got her phone to play her music and when ready, she began her dancing as everyone watched. "Just like in the talent show back then." She thought and after some basic moves, she switched to the advanced ones with the pikes, a head spin, air flares and finally, she jumped up doing some acrobatic move and landed with one hand doing the freeze technique.
Everyone was thunderstruck by this. And then, loud applause and even so, "That's really the one! The one and only ninja dancer!"
"I saw those moves in the videos! It's so dope!"
"Wow! She's here! In our high school! Awesome!"
"Wicked moves guys!"
"I want her autograph and a selfie with her!"
Kappei smiled at this as the students and club members cheered with bright happiness as Emma smiled and waved to everyone. "I never thought I'm meeting you in person, Ninja Dancer!" Jordan then shook her hands as everyone continued cheering and applauding.
After the club fair...
"I've made the decision to sign up for the Breakdance Club and right now, we're outside the staff room where the teachers do their paperwork and have their coffee breaks." Emma thought as she looked at the time, 5pm. "This is the time Coach Spruce is expected to meet us."
And soon enough, "Ah Kappei and Emma, you both wish to speak to me right?" Coach Spruce asked them. "Yeah! For starters, you remind us of our old sensei back at the WNA Academy in Eagle City." Kappei began.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah! His hairstyle is almost the same as yours but yours is a bit spiky while his' is combed neat, you wear sunglasses just like him and not to mention that body structure of yours which is almost as identical as his." Kappei sure stated a lot of descriptive comparisons.
And upon hearing all this, he suddenly burst into laughter. "HAHAHAHAHA! Oh man! So you met my younger brother Bruce huh?"
"WHAT?!" Kappei and Emma could nt believe their ears as, "That's right! Bruce and I grew up together, went to the WNA Academy together and even the ninja high school! Difference is, I applied for the job here and he went the WNA Academy to apply for the job. Still, we kept in touch."
"So if you 2 are related, then your awakened powers-"
"Are the same? Yes they are Kappei!" He then flexed his arms. "Both of us have something called, 'Extreme Arm Strength'. This power enhances our arms making us strong and tough on the arms. Enough to lift heavy objects and deliver fist attacks."
"Cool. But I wonder...why won't Bruce show us his awakened power back at the WNA Academy?" Emma asked.
"Oh dear Emma. You must know well that when you work at the academy, you are not allowed to showcase your awakened power for the children have yet to know of it's existence in them while they're in the midst of their training." Coach Spruce explained.
"That makes sense." said Kappei.
"Totally! Now if nothing else, I gotta resume the paperwork before I head home. See you in the next PE class and I'll tell you this, next one the whole class will play badminton because PE is not only for physical training but for some fun and games in the sport!"
"Alright Coach! See ya and looking forward to it!" Kappei greeted back as he went back inside the staff room. "Shall we get going?" Emma asked. "Yeah. Let's go. I'll still wait and hope for the day when power awakens in me." He replied as they left the school.
But unknown to them, someone caught wind of their conversation as they passed by the hallway and he was there texting someone when it happened. As a result, he made a phone call.
"Yo Kinner. You're not gonna believe this." In full detail, the explanation was given to this Kinner.
"Heh. Heh. Heh. Looks like we finally have a victim to screw around. We've done that many times before joining this high school and none suspected a thing about it. Ha! About time we get into the act. Starting tomorrow. HAHAHAHAHA!"
The second day is smooth-sailing. Kappei joins the kendo club, Emma joins the breakdance club and some of their classmates join other clubs.
PE is fun especially when meeting someone related to someone else they met before. Things are getting more interesting. Except the hornet's nest has been stirred out of interest also...

Profile
A student from Class 1-A, Archie is the first student Kappei befriended. Born in the UK, Archie lived a decent life playing video games and reading motorsports-related materials while his parents run their repair garage to patch up the rides. He attended the WNA Academy in London and graduated from it. After that, he started helping out in his family's garage tuning on the rides and it was there that when checking the exhaust on a sports car alone that his power awakened and he ended up 'smoking' around the interior of the car and when he smoked out of the ride, he reverted to his human form.
Awakened Power: Smoke Cloud
Archie's awakened power enables him to transform into a cloud of grey smoke. In his smoke form, he can move fast and cough up his opponents rendering them weakened to battle on. He can also disrupt their vision by irritating their eyes and whenever he gets attacked, he can negate the attack by entering into his smoke form swiftly and reverting back to his human form to strike back.
In addition, the smoke cloud is actually carbon monoxide but with no poison effects.
