Chapter 13: Yamikage, the Master of Shadows

"A little to the left...a little to the right...okay! Stop there and that's the spot!"

In the gymnasium, Coral is at work as many sophomores and seniors are seen helping out set up the area.

"Whoa...looks like they're preparing for something." From the entrance, Kappei and Davis entered the area as, "Ah Kappei! Good timing! And who might you be handsome?"

"She called me handsome? Coo!" Davis thought and so, "The name's Davis."

"Nice to meet you Davis. Well since you're here with Kappei, I need you guys to help me out something." Coral then pointed at a table full of bags of candy. "Whoa...I see chocolate bars, lollipops, gumdrops, chewing gum, mints and many more confectionaries and sweets!" Davis noticed.

"That's right! Next week is the Halloween party and we've been preparing the gymnasium for the event! So far we got the decorations, the layout, the snacks and drinks and the candy for the party!" Coral briefed them. "However, we're lacking in one batch of it and just today, the candy store called me and told me they finally got it ready for pickup."

"How much candy did you order?" Kappei asked.

"5 batches from 5 different candy stores around California." She answered.

"And let me guess, you want us to collect the one batch that's just ready?" Davis asked.

"That's right! And good thing you're here so that you can help your friend." Coral added as she took out a paper and handed it to Kappei. "This is the address to the candy store and the order. Show it to those working there and they'll do the rest."

"Okay! We'll go now." Kappei and Davis then left.

At the hallway, "6 bags of candy...that's a lot mate. I have a feeling every ninja student will receive a bag of candy." said Davis.

"So true. But the bags are big and we might need one more person to aid us." said Kappei. "But who? Most of our classmates are either in their dorms or in their club activities."

"I wish I knew." Davis replied and as they walked by, "FWOOSH!"

"It is I, Yamikage. Master of the Shadows!"

"Where did that bloke come from?" Davis asked as he bowed to them. "I eavesdropped your talk about a candy delivery collection. I would like to be of assistance in this task."

"Heh. Excellent timing. Come on Yamikage, let's move." Kappei accepted his aid.

"Then I'll see you outside the school." Yamikage then entered the shadows of a locker and merged out to another and another. "His awakened power is insane mate." Davis described as they went to catch up with him.

It now cuts to outside as, "Took you long enough."

"Shadow mate, is it just me or are you faster when merging into shadows?" Davis asked.

"Precisely. So where's the candy store?"

"Looks pretty far. We need to take a cab." Kappei suggested and to their surprise, a cab drove by and stopped before them. "I called a cab while I'm in the shadows." Yamikage revealed stunning them.

An hour later, they arrived but noticed the police is there too. Exiting the cab, "Hmmm...it appear a robbery occured on broad daylight." Yamikage guessed right as Kappei approached an officer. "What happened sir?"

"A gang of hooligans wearing colours with the EX in bold robbed this store and stole all the candy deliveries." He answered.

"EX...Emma once told me about them!" Kappei thought as he, Davis and Yamikage nodded at each other and huddled together. "We gotta act fast. Find our candy delivery and get back to school asap!"

"Agreed. But those blokes took 'em all and left no trail at all!" said Davis

"Actually..." Yamikage then pointed at something. A bit further off but they went to check it out. "A piece of wrapped candy?" Kappei picked it up and, "Unless..." They looked up and walked to a corner and turned right. "Another piece...and further away...another..."

And some kid saw one of the pieces and took it for himself. "Haste makes waste if we don't seize the opportunity! Let's move!" Kappei ordered and they followed the trail.

Unknown location...

"Aw yeah! Halloween for the Expelled!"

Cheering took place at some hideout as expelled gang members are seen checking out the large supply of candy raided and stolen. There are about 10 of them as they prepared to have a party. Oh, they're all male.

"SHING! SHING!"

Unexpectedly, the door was cut open as, "Oi expelled blokes! That candy you stole does not belong to you! Give 'em back or we'll use force if necessary!"

They looked at the front to see Davis with his photon blade formed and ready as Kappei and Yamikage got into a fighting stance.

"Stupid ninjas. You make me look bad! I was kicked out because I ain't good enough and now I can't wait to make you suffer!" One of them exclaimed in ager as he created a terrifying Dark Claw made out of dark energy on his right hand.

The others made their move too. 3 of them sprouted Scythe Blades on their wrists, 3 of them Bulk Up their bodies growing in size by a little bit and expanding their muscles and the last 3 morphed into serpents in an interesting form in which they are half human, half reptile. The specie is King Cobra.

"Bring it on!" Yamikage dashed in and dropkicked one of the cobras as the other 2 spat venom. He did cartwheels and entered a shadow. "Where did that loser go?" One of them asked as Davis charged and engaged the dark claw member. Kappei created lightning on his hands and charged towards the bulked up members delivering lightning strikes. "Take that! And that! And some of these!"

"Puny ninja." One of them described as he grabbed Kappei on the face, lifted him over and slammed him on the ground hard on his back. The other 2 then raised their feet but Kappei rolled over to the left and got up as the dark claw member engaged him.

Meanwhile, Davis had an easy fight as he switched to new opponents, dodged the scythe blades and sliced them all. "Aw come on!" One of them exclaimed as, "Let me shine the light and blast you away!" Davis declarwd as the photon blade glowed and fired beams of light! "VEEOW! VEEOW! VEEOW!"

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

The 3 Expelled members are defeated as Davis cheered and then, "Gotcha!"

One of the King Cobras bind him with his body even cancelling his power. "Some crushing bind..." He thought when, "Surprise!"

"What? Where did you-"

"POW!"

Yamikage has made his move defeating him as the other 2 King Cobras lunge at him but, "Now you see me, soon you won't!" He entered a shadow of a TV as one of them used his serpent tail to smash the TV but unknown to them, he swiftly entered another shadow which is one of the bulked up members. And because of that, they attacked him.

"HEY! Stop it! I'm on your side!"

"We know! We're trying to get him off your shadow!"

"HA?!" This fight has led to confusion in some of the Expelled members because at that moment, Yamikage jumped out and, "Now Davis!"

"Feel my power! Photon Wave!" He slashed out a wave of light energy from his blade now created again and, "BOOM!" All 5 members are defeated in an AOE attack. "Ha! Ha! Amateurs!" He taunted in amusement.

Meanwhile, Kappei and the dark claw member are still executing fist attacks. This went on for a short while until, "Eat this!" The expelled member slashed Kappei pushing him back and he crashed onto a fuse box. "BZZZZZK!"

"Ha! Ha! He is so dead for good." He exclaimed with a smirk but it disappeared in a second because instead of his expectations, Kappei looks like he's all juiced up for all the lightning bolts and sparks are zapping all over his body. "Thanks for the charge!" He discharged all of the lightning onto him and , "BZZZZZK!"

Electrocution sure is painful enough to not only shock him in defeat but it zapped out to the other expelled members shocking and defeating them all completely even before they can stand up and fight on.

"What the? I almost had this snake bloke!" Davis complained.

"Intriguing...it's like those lightning bolts are connected with you..." Yamikage observed.

"You think so?" Kappei asked as he looked around. "We better gather up the candy bags."

"And I found our order!" Davis opened a large, storage box revealing more candy including the order. Mission accomplished.

And after that...

"What a battle I'm telling you! We got the school order and returned the candy back to the store owners at the same time." Kappei exclaimed as the 3 students arrived at the school. They headed straight to the gymnasium and there, "We're back!"

"Ah! Thank you so much!" Coral then showed them the tables and it's there that they place the candy. "Can't wait for the party!" Kappei cheered.

"Everyone's free to come and they can choose to wear costumes if they like. As of now, we're halfway done." Coral told the boys.

"Most interesting..." Yamikage thought as, "Thanks again. See you at the party!" Coral resumed her Student Council work as the 3 boys exit the gymnasium.

Outside, "Yamikage, thanks for your assistance. You impressed both of us on how the shadows are your allies." Kappei thanked him.

"It is an honour. The ninja clan I belong to are practitioners of the ninja arts where we use the darkness and shadows as our ally by concealing into the area and striking from our hiding spots and returning to our shrouded positions undetected." Yamikage revealed.

"Perhaps we can learn a thing or 2 from you shadow mate." Davis stated.

"Who knows? Well, see you again!" Yamikage then stealthy entered a shadow of a female student passing by as Kappei and Davis went back to their dorms to rest up.

Mmmm...candy is good! And it'll be so sweet for those with sweet tooth when the Halloween Party takes effect in the next chapter!

And finally, Kappei meets the Expelled and pwns them for good! Will they ever learn? I think not. And as usual, they're easy opponents to beat down. But there's still more out there so better be careful.

Profile

Swift, stealthy and agile, Yamikage pops out of nowhere and is battle ready for anything. Even his name speaks meaning of his power. Born and raised in a ninja clan that are practitioners of using the darkness and shadows as an ally, Yamikage trained well and was ready to continue it in the WNA Academy. After that, his training paid off with the awakening of his power and thus, he got enrolled into the high school.

In terms of the ninja training, he's one of the most skilled especially when he makes use of it with his stealth, swiftness and power. His favourite food is chocolate chip brownies eaten in the shadows or outside at his own leisure.

Awakened Power: Shadow Merge

Being one with the shadows, Yamikage's awakened power enables him to enter the shadows of any target. Be it organic or inorganic. Inside the shadow, he remains hidden and undetected and when ready to strike, he jumps out and attacks with swiftness before returning to his concealed position to wait for the next prey.

Being hidden in the dark has advantages but also, there are disadvantages in which when there are sources of light around, his concealment will be broken and he'll be forced to reveal himself and fight head on.
