Chapter 22: Catching Up
As planned, Kappei and Emma went to meet Ryotarou and Alec and they just entered the cafeteria.
"Over here!" Alec called out to them and he and Ryotarou are seated together having their lunch. They walked to them and sat across them.
"We'll first get our lunch and then, we'll talk." Kappei told the boys as he and Emma left. Several minutes later, they returned as the 4 students had lunch together.
Kappei had beef noodles with a bowl of mashed potatoes with gravy and lime juice as his drink, Emma had beef stew with 2 butter rolls and lime juice also as her drink, Ryotarou had sushi and spring rolls with a side of coleslaw and sparkling water and Alec had egg fried rice with honey roasted chicken pieces and mountain dew.
"So how do we start this? Ah! Alec, you went to art school since you chose not to follow the way of the shinobi. What made you get enrolled here?" Kappei asked as he started chowing on his mashed potatoes.
"Okay...so yeah. I went to art school to pursue my talent in art. I've stayed there for 2 years until one day...it happened." Alec began.
"Awakened power am I right?" Emma asked.
He nodded as he showed it to them. The finger tips of his fingers including the thumb underwent a colour generation with the colours, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, brown, black, pink and white.
"Whoa..." They exclaimed as Alec used one of his fingers to touch the table. Suddenly, the colour changed from white to red. "Cool!" Kappei exclaimed as Alec touched it again with another finger with the blue colour and the red table became a purple table. He then used the finger with the white colour to colour it back to it's original place.
"Awesome!" Emma exclaimed. "I wonder...how did the power awaken in you?"
"During painting class." Alec replied.
(Flashback)
In the art school, Alec is in the mist of painting a picture and found out he ran out of green. "I'll ask the teacher for some more paint." He thought as he went to take his palette when it happened. "Huh? The white colour of the palette turned green?"
He was using his left hand as he shifted it to his right and, "The green became orange?!" He was so confused that he backed away and touched the wall. Instantly, "What the? The wall colour became yellow?" An art student pointed out as many stood up and looked around in confusion as Alec who's shivering in fear made an attempt to run away but the result is that there's too much accidental colouring for the rest of the art session.
Later on, "Okay...what is going on in me..." Alec is seen checking his fingers as the tips have a colour hue on them and is walking by the hallway. And then, "Alec, to the principal's office. Now." A teacher appeared in front of him and he gulped.
In the office, he entered in to see his father also there. "Ah my son! I heard you had some trouble today?" Roger asked with a smug.
"It's not funny dad. It's unusual." Alec replied as the principal stated this. "I shall leave the 2 of you to have your time alone." She left the office as Alec felt relived. "Okay dad. I'll show you what happened today." He showed him his finger tips. "No way..." Roger exclaimed as Alec went to the wall and touched it with one of his fingers. The beige colour then became pink.
"WOW! This is amazing!" Roger exclaimed in excitement.
"How so?" A surprised Alec asked.
"What you have is awakened power! In this current era, those with the power of the shinobi will awaken the power in them when the time is right!" Roger told him. "The way I see it, you just created a Colour Spectrum on your fingers."
"So you're telling me because of my ninja descent, I have manifested the power it me?"
"Not only that. This is also the opportunity to train as a ninja again!" Roger cheered in excitement.
"But dad-"
"I know son. I'll still let you pursue your passion for art. In fact, you can do so in one of the 16 ninja high schools established in this world. Play your cards right, you may go to the best one in California USK. There's even an art club for you to attend and I'll see what I can do to get you in this school."
"Wow...I was so doubtful about the shinobi way until all the stuff related to art in the high school was mentioned..." Alec thought and with that, "Dad. I'm in."
(End Flashback)
"Incredible! Because of that, you can finally be a ninja like us!" Kappei cheered.
"It wasn't easy at first. I was in bad shape on the first few weeks but thanks to Ryotarou, he whipped me to the core." Alec revealed and the latter nodded.
"Indeed. I was able to figure out that his potential is tightly locked. Intense training was enough to make him surpass himself." Ryotarou explained as he ate a sushi.
"Now it's your turn Ryotarou, you wish to talk to us right?" Emma pointed out as she dipped her butter roll in her stew and ate it.
"Indeed." He replied as he took out his ritual fan shielding his mouth and nose. "Tell me something, how do I know you?"
"You can read minds or something?" Kappei asked.
"No." He answered and began his explanation. "You see, I am known as the Ninja Fortuneteller. Because I was raised in a village where the ninja clan I come from are experts in the divinations and fortunetelling. I was even friends with a girl who comes from a ninja clan where they practice the way of the shinobi and tune on the shamisens."
"Wait...something is connecting the dots..." Emma thought as Ryotarou continued on. "While I go to the academy in Kyoto, she went to the one in Eagle City. When we met again after 3 years, we shared our experiences with each other. She even showed me an academy picture of her batch mates and herself."
"So you knew us through her is it?" Kappei asked.
"Exactly." And he revealed this. "Does the name, Naomi ring a bell to your ears?"
"NAOMI!?" They exclaimed loudly as, "Just as I thought." Ryotarou smiled in satisfaction as he closed his fan.
"Wow! I didn't know you 2 grew up together!" Emma exclaimed.
"I haven't heard from her for some time. I only know she uses a Sushi Axe during battle." said Kappei.
"And as of now, she's doing well in the Advanced WNA High in Oedo." Ryotarou revealed to them.
"That's good. Hope we can meet again. She's one of my best friends back at the academy." said Emma.
"Oh I guarantee you will meet her again." He replied as Kappei thought of something. "The way you spoke this is like you can predict the future."
"Indeed. And let me tell you, your future." Ryotarou stated and whipped out his ritual fan again and opened it. Same position as just now, "We are fated to meet in the finals and you will achieve nothing but defeat by my hands!"
"HA?" A confused Kappei exclaimed as, "You're saying I'll lose to you? Fat chance!"
"Oh how unfortunate. The future has already been decided. Whether you believe it or not, victory belongs to me already." Ryotarou declared with a smug. Kappei however isn't gonna accept it but, "Kappei. Don't let this get inside your head. I know for sure, you'll defeat him." Emma encouraged him.
"Th-Thanks Emma."
"Wow...you two weren't close back then if I remember, so...you're both dating each other?" Alec asked.
"NO!" They replied firmly but he and Ryotarou had raised eyebrows. And then, "Oh we better finish up our lunch. My club activity begins in several minutes." Alec took notice of the time.
"Crap! Davis and I promised to have another kendo match! I better make sure I'm on time!" said Kappei.
"Same! I can't miss the breakdancing!" said Emma as they quickly finished their lunch and once done, all 4 students left the cafeteria for their respective agendas.
Some time later...
"Wow...Kappei, the beach is so breathtaking and you're so hot...so strong...and so manly...without your shirt on."
"Why thank you dear Emma. Would you like to feel my abs? They're rock hard."
"Ooh yes! I'd love to!"
Her hands felt his arms and they made their down to his abs. "Oh...my..."
"Feeling the heat? Why don't you come a little closer?"
She moved closer to him.
"A little more."
"Is this happening?" Her thought went wild and their faces are close enough. Excited, she leaned forward to his face...

"Hmm?"
Wait, what is going on now? Oh look, Emma opened her eyes and found herself doing something awkward. "Why am I kissing my pillow in my sleep?!"
She sat up shocked as she grabbed her pillow, covered her face and a muffled scream took place. After that, she placed the pillow back and slumped on her bed again. "What did I just dream...ugh..." She wasn't ready for this somehow and simply went back to sleep. And nothing weird happened after that and the time now is 11:30pm. Yeah, another school day to go through tomorrow.
So the answer is here regarding Alec and interestingly, Ryotarou has connections with an old friend of Kappei and Emma.
And boy did he make a prediction about the tournament which Kappei finds it hard to believe. Oh well, time can tell.
Now for the next 3 chapters, it'll be some physical training and the Sports Festival. It's gonna be sportastic one can say. (Did you see what I did there? Lol!)

Profile
The son of the WNA executive, Roger, Alec is artistic but his talents in the way of the shinobi is deemed terrible no matter how much he trains. Ron who was still a child back then was able to help him find his own path after seeing him sketch a perfect drawing.
Roger expects a lot from his son but was humble enough to accept the path his son wants to pursue. Alec eventually left the WNA Academy and attended an art school.
2 years later because of the power of the shinobi, Alec awakened his power unexpectedly and coloured many things accidentally.
This got the attention of his father and upon witnessing his power, he got very excited and told him everything about the awakened power and the big opportunity to finally use it to train and became a ninja. Even so, he recommended the Advanced WNA High in California, USK and added that there's an art club he can attend which was enough for Alec to brush off the doubt and after his father worked hard to get his son enrolled, it was a success and a year later, his high school life begins.
As mentioned, Alec joined the Art Club and thanks to intense training by Ryotarou, he finally unlocked the sealed potential in him and was able to become a ninja and be part of Ryotarou's Inner Circle of Class 1-B.
Awakened Power: Colour Spectrum
Alec's awakened power enables him to colour anything with his fingers via touch or by shooting. Any colour generated from them will 'paint' anything. It comes in handy should one need a new paintjob. He can also mix the colours for more variants.
During battle, Alec can shoot out colour rays to inflict colour blindness on his opponents depending on the colour he shoots out. Those shot by the ray will have their vision distorted in which they can only see the one colour they got shot through the colour rays thus leaving themselves vulnerable for defeat.
