Chapter 25: The Sports Festival (Part 2)

Lunch break is over and it's time for the remaining sport events to commence. But first, "Hey guys! Shane's here!" Marcel called out as he and Mikelus have arrived escorting their classmate.

"Shane! How you holding?" Kappei asked him.

"I sort of injured my right leg but after a few days' rest, I'll be fine and I must not do some high-risk activities." He replied.

"That's good. Now get some rest and I better get ready for the next event." Kappei stated.

"Yeah man! You and Emma both got this!" Slick stated and they fist bump each other as Kappei headed to the field with Emma who's waiting to walk with him together.

Event 5: 3-Legged Race

At the field, "Emma, are you ready?"

"Yes. We've been working on our speed and synchronization on the track. We'll definitely win this Kappei!"

"Oh yes we will!" They hi-5 each other as Kappei got the knot tied. They walked carefully to the starting line and waited for the others. Another pair is already there waiting as, "Yo! I've heard of you two!"

"Really?"

"Yeah! You're Kappei, the guy with the ancient-ranked awakened power and you're Emma, the ninja dancer!" The one speaking to them is a boy with slightly tanned skin, long, spiky brown hair with a long fringe in front of his forehead at the center and his teeth have canines which appeared to be longer than normal and often sticking out of his mouth. His partner is a girl with dark brown skin and shoulder length black hair.

"Oh right. The name's Kitou and this is Masumi." The girl had a serious look but nodded at them as a sign of respect.

A few minutes later, all the freshmen are in position as the ninja guard readied his gun. "Ready...GO!" And the gun points at the sky and fired a blank shot. All the pairs ran with a few tripping over and some struggling but interestingly, "Kappei and Emma are doing it!" Maeve called out.

"Wow! Kitou and Masumi are bolting through!" Orion called out as the 2 classes cheered for their friends as they're halfway in the race and neck-to-neck.

"They're fast...but we got this!" Kappei thought as he and Emma sped up.

"Ha! So they think they can outrun us...time for a little boost!" Kitou thought as he and Masumi sped up also.

Now both pairs are near the finish line as all watched in anticipation and soon enough, they ran past it!

"But who actually won?" Vega asked.

"US! CLASS 1-B WON! WE WON IT! WE WON IT AND CLASS 1-A LOSES IT LIKE SMELLY CRAP!" Draco bellowed out loud and an ice crystal hit and froze him solid again.

"What a douchebag he is." Lucia described him and gave Chantelle a hi-5 for the ice crystal attack.

Back on the field, the ninja guard discussed this with the other guards and one of them showed him a recording that he took with his own phone in slow motion. He looked closely for a moment and a minute later, "Class 1-A wins this!"

"Oh my gosh! We won! We won!" Kappei and Emma cheered together and at that moment, he lifted her up by her waist and twirled her around including himself. After putting her down, she squeezed him for hug and he returned the gesture. The rest of Class 1-A cheered and whistled together at their interaction and Gumchi even took a picture of it with his smartphone.

"That little guy got his own phone during Christmas according to Kappei." Hank thought as he drank some water from his bottle.

Event 6: Ball Toss

For this one, all 3 school years will do it together as on the field, Miyumi and Midori nodded at each other and got ready. When the whistle blows, the tossing begins. Miyumi will pick a ball from a basket full of balls and toss it to Midori who will drop it in an empty. The balls used are tennis balls and to win the event, they must toss 50 balls from one basket to another before the time runs out and dropping the balls or letting them slip off will not be counted.

Everyone watched as balls were tossed and indeed there are many that dropped and slipped off for the field is full of tennis balls.

"Is it a good idea to think and talk about funny jokes related to balls now?" Declan asked.

"NO!" The girls yelled at him and he flinched back a bit.

Back on the field, Miyumi and Midori are on fire as Miyumi tossed the balls fast without dropping any and Midori caught them all accurately and without slipping easily. Because of their outstanding teamwork, they earned first place.

Event 7: Scavenger Hunt

A member of the student council will scatter folded papers on the field and those participating will pick a paper and do the hunting. They can run anywhere around the field and to the bleachers to do the scavenger hunt.

For some time, everyone ran and searched. Some were able to complete some hunts while others were able to at least complete one or a few hunts. That's all for this one.

"Excuse me. Can you defrost our classmate? He's suppose to compete in the final event." Tobias asked Chantelle for he approached her for this. "Give me a moment. Kappei! Avitus!"

They heard her and used their powers melting the ice. Draco is free and shivering as Tobias brought him back to their class to get ready as Ryotarou offered him a cup of hot tea.

Event 8: Class Relay

The moment everyone's been looking forward to. The freshmen are in position and as planned from their past training, Emma will go first followed by Archie, Ting Ting, Davis, Nichelle and Kappei.

Once ready, the gun fired the same, blank shot and everyone dashed off! Cheering can be heard from all the classes as right now on the track for Class 1-A, Emma is behind 4 students and at the starting line, Archie along with the next group of runners got in line.

A while later, the first 3 students finished their laps passing the batons to their peers. Another one soon finished his and Emma just ran it, passing the baton to Archie. He then sped up and was able to outrun 2 students now putting the class in 3rd place. "Impressive." Maeve thought and the next group of runners took their places.

Archie soon passed the baton to Ting Ting and she made her move. Now in the relay, 3 boys and 3 girls is the requirement for the participation and the arrangement is that a girl runs first followed by the boy and it goes on like a gender switch until the last runner which is the last boy will finish the relay. Speaking of which Ting Ting fell behind in 7th but still pressed on to finish her lap.

Waiting at the starting line, Davis stretched a bit until he saw, "About time..." Once she passed the baton to him, Davis zipped away as the whole class cheered for him. "Yes! He outran the majority!" Kappei thought as Nichelle went to the starting line with the next group. Davis is now in second place for Class 1-A as he passed the baton to Nichelle as she made her move.

"Okay...I'm the last..." Kappei took up position and beside him is Draco. "Get ready to lose."

"Don't count your chickens yet." He replied to him and did a bit of stretching. As for Nichelle, she's in fourth place and surprisingly, Draco got his baton first. "HA! Now this is my chance to bring forth a class victory!" Draco ran off first as 2 students arrived to pass their batons to their peers. "Kappei!" Nichelle is nearing him as he stretched his hand out. She passed him the baton and with that, "Let's go!"

Kappei ran with all his might and overtook the 2 students. Draco is on the lead and noticed him catching up. "What? Impossible!" And now, Kappei is on par with him as both boys are neck-to-neck and racing their way to the finish line.

"They're coming in close!" Alec pointed out.

"Oh man this is tense!" said Harry.

Both classes cheered their loudest as Kappei and Draco are nearing the finish line...

...

"ZIP!"

"What? They crossed it at the same time?" Kitou exclaimed as everyone murmured about it.

On the field, "I won! I won!" Draco told the ninja guard but was ignored as he discussed this with the others and the same one who recorded the 3-legged race showed up with anthoer recording. After a minute of thorough examining, "Class 1-A won the relay!"

They gasped and cheered as their other classmates ran to them and they all cheered together with fist bumps among the boys and hi-5s among the girls. Draco on the other fell on knees defeated as his peers comforted him but he just slump his body on the ground with his face lying flat on it.

After that, the rest of the students from the remaining school years did their relays and once done, a 10 minute break is given.

Awarding ceremony...

Yeah it's time for that and those that secured a spot in the top 3 during the 8 events are awarded medals with picture taking and depending on the rank, the points are being totaled.

After a while, it's time to reveal the total points that each class scored in their respective years.

Focusing on the freshman year, "In third place, Class 1-D. Second place, Class 1-B and first place, Class 1-A." Coach Spruce announced.

"Alright mates! We won!" Davis cheered as the whole class cheered and danced together. Displeased, Draco flipped the middle finger at them and Chantelle caught sight of it so an ice crystal was fired and he's encased in the block of ice for the third time.

"Not only that, we get more credits!" Archie added as everyone cheered some more. And after that, the overall winners for the second year and third year are announced. And that is all for the entire Sports Festival as Principal Bingram and Vice-Principal McKenna appeared on the field and each of them gave a speech to motivate and encourage the students to keep up the effort and maintain their fitness. Everyone cheered and the event is concluded.

Now that it's over, everyone began leaving for their dorms and make plans for the rest of the day. "Wait, are we forgetting something?" Kappei asked.

"Beats me." said Cruz as the whole class already left to celebrate their win.

The scene zooms to a still frozen Draco and the block of ice remained solid until, "Ah...finally I'm free! Why I ought to-" He looked around for a moment. "How long have I been frozen?!"

The scene then zoomed back revealing that it's nighttime and he's the only one still in the bleachers.

Class 1-A won the Sports Festival despite some losses. Like what Kappei stated before, they never cared about winning, they only came to have fun and do their best. The result speaks for them for that.

And now, the real action begins! For the next 7 chapters, there'll be fighting, more fighting and even more fighting! And a lot of awakened powers featured and used. I'm so excited that I'm gonna eat 12 chocolate donuts in one sitting while writing all of this!
