Chapter 28: The Ninjala Tournament Preliminary Stage! (Part 3)
On Wednesday...
"These are the match-ups for today." Sensei Tatsu revealed to the class.
"Yes! I finally got the chance to get into some action!" Kappei thought for he's in Block 10.
"Oh no...that showboating punk is also in the same block as you!" Archie pointed out and yes, it's Draco.
"I don't know much about his awakened power but I overheard a student from Class 1-H that his power is described to be deadly and legendary." Jeong revealed to the class.
"That means this bloke is a force to reckon with." said Davis.
"Yeah. Big ego, big mouth and doesn't shut up every time he rambles about wanting his class to be better than our class." said Vega with Maeve agreeing with her.
"Ironically, he always claims that Class B will beat Class A and be the best and number one but the reality is, there is no class competition or hierarchy in this school." said Cruz.
"Best for the fool to realize it with his own eyes and ears." Davis told him and as for Kappei and Emma, they talked with each other.
"I know for sure, you'll win this!" said Emma.
"Kappee! Winee!" Gumchi agreed.
"Thanks guys." Kappei thanked them and then, Emma grasped onto his hands. "You got this." He smiled from her words sheepishly as Marcel, Colette and Mikelus took notice of this.
Preliminaries...
During the Block 9 battle, Slick and Midori survived together as everyone in class watched their battle. On screen, Midori screamed her hyper voice at a student from Class 1-C eliminating her off the arena as she got pushed out from her vocal blast.
Slick created many heat seeking orbs as they hovered around and hit any target. Successfully, 2 students took the hit and are out. However, one student ignited himself on fire and blazed around the arena even using one of the orbs to misfire and hit Slick before he could react. The hit even sent him out of the arena and thus, he's out.
2 minutes later, this blazing student and Midori are the only ones left. "This is my chance to take the win! Vocal Blast!" She screamed out her hyper voice but he jumped up to his right with ninja style and blazed around her. Midori looked around while trying to find the right timing to scream out her hyper voice but, "Gotcha now! Blazing Spin Kick!" He kicked Midori on the side and even though she blocked it, the kick had a powerful impact and she was kicked out of the arena and thus, he won the block and is from Class 1-D.
Block 10 is next and Kappei took a deep breath. He remembered the loss he went through at the academy even going as far as to save Emma back then. "This time...I'm gonna win this. With honour." He closed his eyes remembering all the ninja training he went through from the first term to now. He then looked up and noticed that on the bleachers, some of the 2nd and 3rd year students have come to watch the tournament. Coral and her friends are also there as she waved at him.
Smiling dreamily, he waved back as Draco arrive at the field last and with that, all 15 participants are ready as a ninja guard brought them to the arena and assigned them their starting points.
"Block 10 is on and wow! We got some major prominent students in here! We have the rich, handsome and a dragonic being, Draco of Class 1-B!" Coach Spruce introduced as he proudly waved to the cameras recording the arena.
"And over there, we have the first ninja with the ancient-ranked awakened power, Kappei of Class 1-A!"
This drew the other 13 students' attention. "Ancient rank?"
"What the heck?!"
"You kidding me?!"
One can say that envy has entered the participant's mindset as Kappei can see their enraged intent. "What did I do?"
"Ninjas, draw your blades!" All obeyed unsheathing their Iaitos.
"Ready...BATTLE!"
"Hey guys! Let's take that Class A student down first before he becomes a huge threat!" Draco called out and all listened to him and charged towards Kappei activating their awakened powers.
3 students created and fired Energy Orbs.
Another 3 students created and fired Energy Disks.
2 students summoned battle axes at their own will and it's known as Battle Axe Summon.
Another 2 students morphed their lower body part into Centaur bodies as they galloped faster.
1 student created snow and manipulated it as she fired snowballs in a way it's Snow Manipulation.
Another one encased himself in Armour Plating.
And the last student breathe out Ashes and Cinders.
"Ganging up against me is a bad idea..." Kappei first dodged the projectiles fired at him ninja style. After that, he took action and created a tornado and a whirlpool on each of his hands. Once large enough, he unleashed them together and it was unexpected. "RUN FROM IT!" One of them called out but too late, all 13 students were sucked into either one of them and are sent flying out from the center and they all piled up onto the field defeated.
"INCREDIBLE! Kappei took down 13 students in one go! A true ninja with this kind of ancient ranking!" Coach Spruce announced as in all the freshmen classes except Classes 1-A and 1-B, all had mixed reactions from it.
Back there, "All that's left is Draco but...where is he?" Kappei looked down and then, noticed a large shadow looming above him. "Uh-oh."
From the sky, "BOOM!"
Good news is, Kappei jumped out of the way in time and, "No way...you're a Dragon, Draco?!"
"Ha! Ha! Ha! You guessed it! I'm gonna devour you and claim victory in this block!" Draco announced as his dragon form is revealed. Yup, a beige dragon with claws, wings, a tail and piercing blue eyes.
"I am so dead...I'm it's lunch!" Kappei gulped and, "Dragon Blast!"
Draco fired a cyan energy orb as it hit Kappei causing an explosion upon impact. "IOOM!" He was pushed back from it as he crashed onto a big rock losing his weapon from the crash. "Ow...that dragon packs a punch!"
"You're right! Dragon Fist!" Draco channeled the same cyan energy on it's claws, clenched it and, "POW!" A downward punch slammed and shook the battle arena. However, "Huh...my claws are wet." He then noticed a puddle and it took shape morphing back revealing Kappei being one with the water. He then raised his fists in the air and lightning bolts zapped down and onto his fists as he felt the power.
"This should fry you into a crisp!" Kappei fired the bolts but the dragon laughed. "That tickles."
"Seriously?!" Kappei exclaimed as, "Dragon Tail Smash!"
"BAM!"
Kappei got swatted onto the pile of logs as they scattered around the arena. He then generated a tornado as all the obstacles are sucked into it. He then sent all the obstacles onto Draco.
"BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!"
"Hey! Cut it out and watch the fangs!" Draco shouted as he fired another Dragon Blast. Kappei jumped to his right and rolled over getting on his feet as he ran on the walls and landed on a towering platform. Taking flight, Draco used his dragon wings to manipulate the wind and blow Kappei off the platform! "The more you run, the more you're gonna lose it out faster!"
"I know that!" Kappei then used the wind to land on the ground without falling. He then fired fireballs at Draco but, "Useless! Dragon Wing Shield!" By using one of his wings, it glowed with cyan energy and the fireballs did nothing at all.
"Damnit! How am I gonna fight someone who's a big dragon twice my size?" Kappei thought with difficulty as Draco used another attack. "Dragon Claw Slash!"
The claws glowed cyan and 2 slashes sent Kappei on the ground. "Ugh...I can't give up now..." Kappei used a combination fire and lightning attacks but the wing shield negates the damage and Draco fired 3 orbs and, "IOOM!"
In class, "KAPPEI!" Emma called out in shock.
"Grrr...don't you lose this one mate!" Davis thought while clenching his fists.
"Is it possible for Kappei to defeat a dragon?" Harry asked.
"I wish I knew." Hank replied.
Back there, "Heh. You fought well. But in the end, victory is mine!" Draco told Kappei who just stood up from the explosion from the energy orbs. "Time to finish the job! Dragon Burning Flame!"
He breathed fire and it was so powerful that the entire arena is set on fire!
"Okay...this looks like it went overboard..." Sensei Tomoko thought as it cuts to class as, "Oh no!" Ting Ting exclaimed.
"That dragon literally scorched the whole arena!" Slick exclaimed.
"Hotee! Hotee! Burnee! Burnee!" Gumchi described when, "LOOK!" Emma pointed at something and all gasped.
At the same time, "Ha! Ha! Ha! I've won! I've-what the frick?!" Draco stopped laughing because right in front of him, "Why...you're...you're...

"Huh...you burned me alive and I feel so alive in the fire." Kappei told him as he channeled the flames and suddenly, all the fire is absorbed into his and soon enough, "The real battle begins now! Now let me show you the true power of dragons!"
Kappei got into a fighting stance and suddenly, he manipulated the elements as they each formed around his arms and legs and once ready, 4 elemental dragons are created and appeared before Draco. "What is going on?!" He wondered and launched his attacks but due to their elemental appearances, they dodged all his attacks and with that, "Finish him! Let the elemental powers of fire, water, lightning and wind show forth their true power!" Kappei declared as the 4 elemental dragons each channeled their respective elemental powers from their mouths and unleashed a combined elemental attack. "Elemental Dragon Obliteration!"
A blast of fire, a stream of water, a bolt of lightning and a column of win are all launched together and then, merged into an overpowered attack as, "Impossible!" Draco exclaimed in horror and, "IOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
"Draco of Class 1-B is out! Winner is our ancient powered Kappei!" Coach Spruce announced as it cuts to Class 1-A all cheering and jumping for joy as Emma smiled in elation. Even so, Kappei shouted in victory with his fists raised in the air and the 4 elemental dragons roared with might and power. After that, they are recalled and the elements are put away by Kappei as Sensei Tatsu was most impressed at his performance.
After that...
Up next is Block 11 and Maeve and Archie are participating in it. It was a tough battle due to a male student from Class 1-C who apparently has something called, Pocket Dimension. An awakened power that allows him to store an infinite amount of items in his pockets and in the fight, he took out a vast array of weapons and gimmicks endlessly from his pockets and thus, he won the block.
And finally, Block 12 and it appears that Mikelus is going solo on this one. During battle, his plasma bolts really blasted many foes and he's able to imbue his Iaito with the energy delivering plasma slashes and waves. Despite putting up a good fight, he was somehow defeated by a student in his Werewolf form.
Aftermath...
In class, "Kappei that was incredible!" Emma told him.
"Winnee! Winnee!" Gumchi cheered.
"How so?" He asked.
"You have become one with all 4 elements! During the fire attack, you were immune to the fire becoming one with it. As a result, your power grew through all this elemental bonding whenever you utilize them in battle!" She revealed to him.
"She is absolutely correct. Check out the data in my archive that I just summoned." Jeong showed the data to Kappei as he read through the holographic webpages.
"I've observed your battle in Block 10. Your power grew by a decent 30 percent by being one with the elements." Jeong explained.
"Cool..." Kappei exclaimed when the door opened and, "YOU! I want a word with you now!"
"Oh here we go again..." Nichelle mumbled as Kappei approached Draco. The 2 students stared at each other with seriousness for a moment...

"You surprised me for once. I will not lose to you again." Draco told Kappei and went to leave. But before that, he looked back and gave him a respectful smile. "All the best for the rest of the tournament."
"Heh. I guess not all the time you talk big." Kappei replied with respect and he just shrugged his shoulders and left.
"What just happened?" Emma asked.
"Weirdee!" Gumchi described as, "Well now that it's over, who wants to eat burgers and fries with me at Shinobi Burger for dinner tonight?" Kappei asked.
All the boys cheered and joined him as they left laughing and footling around along the way.
"Oh well. A victory dinner is what Kappei deserves for winning the tournament block." Emma thought with a smile. Things had become more interesting in the tournament.
Kappei has gone stronger now. Being one with the elements has given him new advantages to counter his opponents
So far, the preliminaries has past the halfway point and results are speaking for themselves. There's still more to come as the Elite Stage is nearing it soon enough...

Name: Draco
Profile
A student of Class 1-B, Draco is arrogant, confident and has a loud mouth in boasting and gloating. Still, he has morals to be humble and give his support to his classmates.
He hails from a ninja clan where they value and treasure dragons as powerful and majestic creatures. Plus, he's born in a rich family for his parents are well-known and he gets the best in everything. Especially in his ninja training and the fact that he has awakened his power at a young age. This is deemed a blessing to many in the clan and as a result, Draco takes pride in it training hard to be the best.
Once ready, he enrolled in the WNA Academy and after 3 years, was enrolled in Advanced WNA High where he became the vice class representative for Class 1-B. He also enjoys fine dining and playing card games.
Awakened Power: Dragon
It's terrifying to see a dragon in battle but this is the awakened power of Draco. In his dragon form, he has immense strength, flight speed, sharp claws, powerful tail and an intimidating appearance. Oh yeah, his wings and fangs are also dangerous.
When fighting against his foes, he can shoot energy orbs that explode and deal aoe damage, slam his tail with brute force, slash with his sharp claws which is enough to tear metal apart, use his wings to shield itself from 'pitiful' attacks and breath powerful flames enough to scorch the entire area around it. Terrifying and legendary is his awakened power...
