Chapter 47: Swordplay Showdowns!
After melee combat, it's time to play with swords.
"That is right! The last event of the day is on! For the rules, it's the same as the previous event and Iaitos will be provided. We'll start with the girl's category followed by the boys. Now ready your blades for the ladies as in 10 minutes, those participating must suit up and prepare for battle!" Bruce commentated.
At the bleachers, "Finally...I can get into the action!" May declared.
"I'll be participating!" Anais revealed as she stood up.
"Oh really? You think you're tough out there?" May asked her boldly.
"You'll see me in action soon enough. In the final stage." Anais predicted as the 2 girls left.
"You know, this is the first time I see Anais get into some action." Shane pointed out.
"No doubt she spins records in her free time." said Joey.
"Whoa hold your horse, she's a DJ? That's frickin cool!" Caribou spoke up. "Does she also beatbox and rap?"
"Oh yes. She does that too once in a while." said Yamikage as he entered his shadow. "This awakened power of his' is something." Caribou thought as Yamikage swiftly jumped into Dora's shadow while she's chatting with Sheila.
Girl's Swordplay Event
Similar to the close combat, the girls fought with their Iaitos and strike with power and fury. 4-way battles took place as the girls clash with some being struck down and pushed back to the point they fell off the platform and into the pool.
A while later, there are 8 girls left so one-on-one battles took effect all the way until the finals.
And so...
"We're now at the final stage and the action is so exciting!" Bruce commentated.
"Indeed brother! Let's meet our contestants!" Coach Spruce commentated.
"First, we have the hardcore kunoichi who battles her all and takes no prisoners even making sure her fights are short, we have the marvelous, magnificent May!" Bruce announced as she's in the arena cracking her knuckles, ready to fight.
"And for her opponent, she spins records, tunes on the remixes, raps with slick rhymes and beatbox with perfect vocals. Known as the Ninja Disc Jockey, Anais!" Coach Spruce commentated and she's in the arena pumped for some action.
The 2 girls then walked to face each other, took a bow and then, drew out their Iaitos. A WNA ninja has the red flag down and once ready, it's raised up and the girls charged and clashed!
Everyone got excited and cheered at the sword fight as May swung her blade swiftly but Anais dodged and blocked them. "So you can hold your ground. Let's see if you can block these!"
It was at that moment that May channeled energy on her arm and swung it releasing an energy boomerang that arced to the back. She swung her arm 4 more times and more of those projectiles were released and arced back joining the other one. "What are those?" Anais asked.
"Here's your answer!" May then sent the 5 energy boomerangs and they spun fast and down! Anais got ready as, "KSH! KSH! KSH!" She deflected the first 3 but the other 2, "KSH! KSH!" Yeah, she took 2 hits and is knocked down.
"This is too easy! My Huntershot power hunted you down like easy prey and you're literally down on the ground closer to defeat by my hand!" May announced as she prepared her power.
However, Anais jumped up on her feet and, "BZZZK!"
"What the?" May was startled by this as, "It's chain lightning time! Lightning Thrash!" Swinging her chain made out of electricity, Anais danced while swinging as May released a boomerang but, "BZK!"
"Gotcha!" Anais swung her chain and it struck May on the head! "BZZZZZZZK!"
"OWIE!" May was electrocuted upon contact with the chain. "Made out of electricity, the DJ has become shockingly dangerous with her chain! She should be promoted to Shock Jock!" Coach Spruced joked and for some reason, many laughed at it leaving Bruce stunned.
At the bleachers, "One touch and she got zapped. That's how dangerous chain lightning is." Archie explained.
"Especially when I taught her some dance moves last month." Emma revealed.
"Wow that's pretty nice." Kappei told her as she snuggled close to him.
Back at the arena, Anais sheathed her Iaito back and summoned another chain! "Two is better than one and I can't wait to put a shock to your system and buzz you like a bee, armed with a joy buzzer!" Everyone cheered because that rap line was the bomb!
"So you wanna get serious? I like it! Now I'm getting serious too in a good way!" May jumped for an attack as Anais danced and swung her chains. The 2 girls fought hard with energy boomerangs shooting down rapidly and chain lightnings zapping about.
Anais then swung her chains in circles as she ran and leapt for a thrash but May swiftly got behind her and released 5 energy boomerangs as they arced back and shoot themselves down at Anais. She turned and thrashed them all. She then repeated the same move as she walked to May slowly with the electricity from the chains scarring the arena floor. "End of the line May. By hunting me down, you've become the hunted instead!"
"I don't think so." She replied and then, released another 5 energy boomerangs as Anais whipped them but, "I missed 2 of them."
"Because they're right behind you!" May and, "BOOM!"
Anais took a hit and her chains disappeared. As she got up, "Any of my boomerangs can be behind me or any opponent I face." May told her as she released another 5 boomerangs and sent them arcing behind as they soon shoot themselves to her. Anais dodged them all and readied her chains when, "I've won this fight! Hunter Force Strike!" May sent her boomerangs spinning around the arena. "What the..." Anais looked around trying to find out where they'll shoot themselves when, "BAM!"
One hit her from behind. "BAM!"
Another hit her on the side and, "BAM! BAM!"
Right on the back and the other side and the last boomerang shoot itself down and, "BAM!" That was a very hard hit which sent Anais flying out of the arena and into the pool.
"Unbelievable! Just when Anais is about to seize victory, May turned the tables and executed a relentless hunting move! That was something and she has won the entire event!" Bruce commentated.
"YEAH! True victory!" May cheered jumping for joy as all cheered for her.
After that...
"Dandelion! I did it!" May called out to him.
"I knew you'll win it. My Mayflower." He replied and pressed his lips onto hers'.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Why don't you go and blow him down between his legs to celebrate your win?" Lucy joked to May and many are stunned to hear this.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. Says the girl who took a dildo and pleasured herself in her free time while thinking of Van." May sarcastically joked back leaving Lucy flustered and Emma and Naomi had stunned looks on their faces and likewise, Van and Kappei.
"Van. I wonder, have you-"
"Kappei. Don't say anything." Van suggested.
"Alright. Then I'll get ready for the swordplay event. Davis, let's move!"
"Oh yeah mate! Let's do our best and if ever we made it to the finals, I'll get the chance to have my rematch with you!" Davis cheered.
"I'll be waiting bro." Kappei and Davis fist bump each other as, "I'm also going." Dan revealed to them. "Besides, this will be a great chance to take you on if ever." He added referring to Davis.
"Sure thing mate. My photon blade versus your dark blade will be something to look forward to if ever." He replied.
"Yeah! Let's do our best out there!" Kappei cheered as the 3 boys left together all hyped for the event.
"Our boyfriends are really on fire for this one." said Vega.
"Agreed." Emma then smiled and thought this to herself. "I know for sure, Kappei will win this!"
Also, "You're tough Anais. I can give you that." May told her. "I don't mind a rematch if you ever wanna challenge me again."
"I may have lost but yeah, I'll go crazy again and whip you down electrocution style." Anais replied as the 2 girls fist bump each other.
Boy's Swordplay Event
Just like the girl's category, the boys also went through the same stages. Currently, it's the semi-finals and Kappei checked it out. "Whoa...I'm gonna battle Dan in this one!"
"Surprised I see." Dan appeared from behind as he placed his hand on his shoulder. "We both got this. But there can only be one finalist."
"Agreed. Let's give it our all!" Kappei gave him a fist bump as they got ready.
So let's get the semi-finals started as at the arena, the 2 boys are there and their peers are cheering for them.
"Win this Dandelion! The bottle collectors are cheering for you!" May called out.
"Kappei! I'm rooting for you! And likewise, the others from Class A and B!" Emma called out as the students cheered for him. At the arena as they drew their Iaitos and got ready. Once the WNA ninja raised up the flag. "Let's do this!" Kappei shouted.
"Bring it on!" Dan shouted as they charged and attacked. Their weapons clashed hard and the blades felt the impact of every strike. "Have you forgotten that your swings are too wide?" Dan asked.
"Wide open for the attack but I'm fast enough to block it!" Kappei did block the attack in time as he got ready. Dan then delivered a barrage of swift attacks but Kappei held his ground and blocked every single one of them. Even if he gets flanked, his reaction time was fast enough for him counter his moves.
Dan then jumped to attack but Kappei slid down and past him. He then got up and unleashed a barrage of attacks. Dan looked behind and was in time as he blocked his moves. Kappei attacked with fury as Dan blocked them all. "Seems like we're evenly matched!"
"You still honed your ninja skills I see." Kappei replied as Dan jumped back and jumped up spinning around while shifting his position to a vertical one and struck him!
"AH!" Kappei felt the hit as Dan dashed up and struck him again! And again! And again! Way too many hits on Kappei as he trembled a bit while in his defensive stance now.
"What's wrong Kappei? I thought you're fighting well just now!" Dan called out as he got serious. "In that case, I'll make this fight short!"
"Maybe I can try something new..." Kappei thought and then, he switched his weapon into reverse grip!
"What the? We're not learning that technique until we start our second year." Tobias brought up as he took out a lollipop to lick it.
"Unless he's been preparing for something like this..." Ryotarou thought as back there, Kappei tested it out. "TING!" He blocked Dan's attack as he smiled and started some counter attacks in reverse grip. "You can't rely on this technique all the way!" Dan warned him as they fought some more.
In the bleachers, "Hey Kuryu, what do you think?"
"Pathetic Sid. This fight is too pathetic. Those weaklings are just weak."
"Okay..."
And back there, "You're wasting your time Kappei! This is where I'll defeat you and go to the finals!"
"I've been stalling for some time and blocking your attacks. And now, I've made the calculations!" Kappei ducked and struck him on the legs! "KSH!"
"OUCH!" Dan fell on his butt as he got up in a second. Kappei then flanked him and struck him from behind! "KSH!"
"Don't tell me..." Dan watched as Kappei got serious and unleashed more attacks! But Dan ain't backing down and the of them clashed and struck each other throughout the fight. Everyone watched as they fought with everything they got until they tire themselves out.
Wait, they did tire themselves out as, "I'm glad...I get to battle you...Kappei."
"Only one will...go to...the finals Dan..."
The 2 boys them charged towards each other and somehow delivered the final strike as they ran past each other and halted by the ledge. All could see that and they stopped also.
Seconds later, Dan fell into the pool. "SPLASH!"
"What a battle between 2 hardcore fighters! Despite their skills, Kappei endured a lot and secured himself a spot to the finals!" Coach Spruce announced as many cheered for him.
"Yeah..." Kappei then fell onto the ground tired.
After that...
The 2 boys are both resting in the infirmary recovering from their attacks. The medics there are nice enough to use their healing awakened powers to restore their strength. "How are you holding?" Kappei asked.
"I'm good. Even though we hit each other hard and do a lot of blocking, you were something out there." Dan replied. "You really have gotten much better from last time at the academy."
"Thanks Dan. You've also gone stronger and somewhat nicer also." Kappei added.
"Things change. I felt that in the high school days." He replied.
"What was it like?" Kappei asked.
"I'm the class representative in my class and everyone looks up to me. I was happy and satisfied to have everyone back me up and support my leadership skills. Tyler and May stood by my side and we worked together to maintain class control and cohesion." Dan explained,
"I see now. You 3 are in the same class and now, you don't do your preaching anymore." Kappei exclaimed.
"The only time I 'preach' is to boost class morale. And yes, I've learnt humility and matured throughout the first year." He added when the door was opened forcefully. "Emma? Archie? Cruz? What are you guys doing here?" Kappei asked.
"Kappei...it's Davis!" A worried Emma told him.
Outside, medics are rolling some infirmary bed and Davis is lying there bruised and battered heavily. The rest are following behind as Kappei came out and saw it. "DAVIS!" He ran to check on him and he noticed him. "Sorry mate...I tried...my very best..."
"My boyfriend's been smashed down..." Vega then started to cry as Maeve and Anais comforted her.
"How could this have happened? Who was he facing in the semifinals?" Dan asked.
"Me." All looked to see Kuryu and his group of friends as they arrogantly looked down on them.
"What did you do to my buddy?!" Kappei asked Kuryu in anger.
"He was weak." He replied with Sid smirking. "He's nothing but a pitiful weakling. Even if he's a 10-time winner in the kendo tournaments, he's still a weak bastard in my eyes."
"Unacceptable! All you did is beat him to a pulp without care!" Dan declared in anger to him.
"So what? Those who are weak aren't true ninja! Only those with strength and power are!" Kuryu shouted at him. Furious, Dan attempted to attack him but Tyler restrained him as Kuryu shifted his glance at Kappei. "I will destroy you once the final stage begins..." He and his peers left as Kappei glared at them.
Shifting his attention back to Davis, "How long will he take to recover?"
"Dunno. The attacks were very heavy and he was unable to withstand them." A medic replied. "It'll take us a long while to heal him."
"Not if I can help." Dia took action and right before everyone, she grew a horn right in the center on her forehead!
"I present to you, Horn of the Unicorn! Dia's awakened power!" Cluv showcased to everyone as Dia touched Davis on the arm with her horn. In an instant, Davis glowed and all his injuries vanished out of sight.
"So cool!" Kappei cheered. "It's like the horn is the healing factor of her power!"
"Not only that, Dia can discharge lightning attacks from her horn." Heart added as Davis felt his strength restored. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." Dia then recalled her horn back inside as the medics helped Davis up and they left to resume other duties. A relived Vega then squeezed Davis for a hug even smooching his cheek.
As for Kappei, "Kuryu...you are lost. Lost in the true path. You created a belief that opposes the way of the shinobi. Your pride and hatred against anyone you deem weak blinds you completely...for that, I must open them. So that you can understand the real truth about the shinobi path...and amend your ways...the final stage is near and I must be ready for anything he throws at me."
The Finals is where it'll be intense, brutal and there'll be a lot of power attacks. Who will win? Kappei or Kuryu? Stay tuned for the next chapter!

On the turntable, Anais can spin records, work on the remixes and even rap and beatbox about. But yes, she can fight like a ninja and groove with her moves and power.
Her skills as a DJ earned attention from the seniors and with that, she was chosen to spin the records on the school Halloween Party and the Homecoming Dance.
Awakened Power: Chain Lightning
Anais' awakened power enables her to create chains made out of electricity. She can whip them around lashing and thrashing onto her opponents even shocking them when the chains touch them be it a tap or a binding move.
Emma was also nice enough to teach her some dance moves and with that, she can dance and whip about improving on her defensive stance and blocking attacks while whipping around her chains.
In addition, if Anais uses her chains to bind an opponent and there are some others near the bound one, a chain reaction will take effect and all near the bound one will get shocked with electricity bouncing onto multiple targets as quick as lightning and there is no escape from this special attack.
