Chapter 57: The Double Date Night

The next night, 2 couples are getting ready for their dates.

Kappei is seen checking his hair in the bathroom.

Van is shirtless and flexing his muscles before the mirror in his room.

Emma is seen browsing through some attires and pondering on what to wear.

And Lucy is trying on various hairstyles in the other bathroom but can't decide on that.

7pm...

"Well, us guys are ready." said Van and he wore a red violet short-sleeved dress shirt with a high upturn collar and beige pants with socks and black dress shoes.

"Yup! But how long will the girls take to get ready?" Kappei asked and he wore an indigo long-sleeved dress shirt and black pants with socks and black dress shoes. And he put aside his baseball cap for this double date.

And then, "Hope we didn't take long." Emma and Lucy soon made their down as the boys gasped at their appearance. Emma wore an aquamarine dress that reaches down to her knees and white short heels and Lucy wore a pink one shoulder ruffled up dress that reaches down to her knees and black short heels. Plus, she let her hair down for this one.

"Nice!" Both boys admired their girlfriends as they met up with them. "Shall we head out?" Van asked.

"Of course." said Emma as the 2 couples left the beach house.

Outside, Van's mother is waiting in the car as the 2 couples entered the ride. "Ready to get going?" She asked.

"Ready as ever!" Van replied as she started the engine and drove the couples to the mall.

"I wonder Kappei, what is Gumchi going to do now that he's alone without you or Emma?" Van asked him.

"Don't worry, he can take care of himself." Kappei assured to him as it cuts to the room where Gumchi is seen sitting on the bed reading a comic book and eating a bag of potato chips and another bag of cheese rings.

Half an hour later...

"Here we are! Have fun you lovebirds and I'll pick you all up at 11!" Van's mother called out as she drove off. "Alright! Let's begin the double date!" Van cheered as they went inside the mall. "Where shall we start?" Emma asked.

"A romantic dinner." Kappei replied and, "I know a place where we can have our romantic dinner." Lucy stated as all looked at her.

It now cuts to Papa Giovanni's Pizzeria and the couples are seated inside as, "You went here before right?" Van asked.

"With Chloe and her friends." Lucy answered him.

"And to think it has a few branches in Eagle City so far. This must be a successful business." said Kappei.

"And now, I'm going to check the menu." said Emma as she took one and began browsing. The rest followed suite as all eyed on the various Italian cuisine.

A while later, they're ready to order as a waiter attended to them. Kappei and Emma ordered the meatball bolognese while Van and Lucy ordered the seafood aglio olio. They also ordered garlic bread and a 28-inch pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. (Saw it before in a Youtube video. I would gladly eat that whole thing!)

For the drinks, Van ordered a Sprite, Lucy ordered an orange soda, Kappei ordered a coke and Emma ordered a Pepsi. And with that, the full order is confirmed as the waiter left to submit it. Oh yes, they also ordered dessert which they can have it served later on.

"And now we wait." Lucy whipped her phone out as she checked out some social media posts. "Ooh. Chloe and Jimmy appeared to also have their date night!"

"Let me see!" Kappei exclaimed as they all gathered around Lucy as through her phone, it shows Chloe and Jimmy rollerblading together. "Cute." Emma described.

"Man...Jimmy is going smooth with a chick like her." said Kappei.

"Hey now that you mentioned him, how did you and Jimmy meet?" Van asked and Kappei told them the story of how he met him and help train him in the kendo. "So that's why you were not with us at that time." said Lucy.

"Cool! And that's how you got stronger too!" Emma exclaimed with her eyes dazzling at his coolness. "Not to mention that kindness you've shown to train Jimmy and hone his skills so that he won't be kicked out of the kendo club."

"Yeah. And to think Chloe took a liking for him." Kappei added as their drinks arrived. "Oh yeah, I've noticed that Emma started her own Nintube channel and has she been teaching you some breakdancing?" Van asked as he started sipping his soda.

"That's right! I'm the student and she's the teacher." Kappei replied as Emma and Lucy chuckled about it. "Cool. But if ever I learn dancing from her, I might end being better than you." Van boasted.

"Ha! You'll end up being kicked out of the basketball team for that and seriously, I'm better at breakdancing than you!" Kappei boasted back.

"Here we go again..." Emma and Lucy sighed as the boys argued and bickered without raising their voices loud at least. "Tell me something Emma, you have that nintube channel of yours right? How many subscribers you have now?" Lucy asked her.

"Around a few million subscribers. Like 2 to 3 million I think." Emma answered her.

"Not a bad start." said Lucy when she smelt something succulent. "Our orders have arrived."

And it's all set before them. The pizza is in the middle and their pasta dishes are right in front of them. Taking the forks, the 2 couples began eating their respective pasta dishes for they're sharing them.

"Mmmm...tasty!" Lucy loved it as Van fed her a piece of shrimp. "If Keith was here, he'll be complimenting the food like a professional food critic." said Kappei as Emma fed him a piece of meatball. And then, Van and Lucy took a garlic bread and munched on them together. There's still 2 more left so Kappei and Emma took them and also munched on them.

As they mingled over their pasta dishes, Kappei and Emma got some pasta on their forks and as they ate them, they found that a strand that they were about to eat and their mouths have the ends. They looked at each other and then, the strand. Slowly, they slurped it and then, their lips touched and the strand is split evenly. "And I recorded it." Van has his phone doing it as he sipped his soda. Lucy then nudged him and whispered something to him. "Alright. We'll give it try!"

"Yay!" Lucy cheered and got her fork ready and as expected, they went through the same thing like them. And once their lips touched after consuming half the strand together, they started to makeout and Emma tried to hold her laughter and likewise, Kappei and he has his phone on his hand doing the recording.

Now it's time for the pizza and because it's a very large one, Emma and Lucy decided to eat only one slice while Van and Kappei take 3 slices each. "The best for the last." The boys stated together and started chowing. The girls ate their slice like normal. "I remember Dan once worked at some pizza place and interestingly, he gained some experience points and used them during our 1 vs 3 training back at the academy." Emma recalled.

"Yeah! And you know something? Once in a week, Dan will order a pizza for himself to chow on during the weekends all by himself back at out high school in Oedo." Lucy told her. "He at least has the credits to spend." And then, the boys finished their chowing. "Alright! We still have room for dessert! And good thing we ordered it already so now, we can get it served now!" said Kappei as he waved his hand for a waiter to attend to them.

And soon enough, 2 plates of dessert are served. They each consist of a round, chocolate cake and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. "Chocolate lava cake along with your favourite ice cream! Vanilla Vannie Boo!"

"Ha! Ha! On my birthday, we ate a tub of vanilla ice cream together." Van recalled as they started eating their dessert.

"You guys did?" Kappei asked.

"Yeah! Our class celebrated my birthday, we ate cake and partied and after that, Lucy and I went to my dorm room and we ate the ice cream together with hot fudge." Van told them. "But the next day, we both fell ill and we skipped a day of class as a result." Kappei and Emma are so stunned that they can't comment anything else about.

After dinner and dessert in which Van paid for the bill, the couples went to watch a movie. They have just arrived at the cinema and, "Look Van! Deadpool and Wolverine!"

"Yeah Kappei! Let's check it out! I heard everyone says it's incredible!" Van then looked at the girls as, "If there's plenty of fighting and killing, I am so in!" Lucy told him.

"Well, I'll tag along also. Now let's queue for the tickets." Emma spoke up and the couples lined up for the movie. Once next, Kappei bought 4 tickets and it's not necessary to buy snacks and drinks since the couples just had dinner so with that, they entered the theatre straightaway.

About 2 hours later, they exit the theatre as they talked about the fun and action in the movie. "He was like, impaling those claws on both guys at different areas in their bodies and made them scream in agony! Pure fun and torture!" said Lucy.

"A lot of mutants featured in the movie." said Van. "Most of them are weak and they just shoot and do melee attacks without using their mutant powers."

"True. And some awesome heroes fighting for their survival!" Kappei added.

"It's actually nice. And I like that dance sequence that this Deadpool guy did at the beginning of the movie." said Emma. "In fact, this gave me an idea on doing this dance in my next video."

"Good one. May I join you in this dance?" Kappei asked.

"Sure! We'll be in sync during practice!" Emma replied as she and Kappei hi-5 each other. The 4 teens then went to do window shopping as they checked out many expensive brands and goods at some stores. Later at a jewelry shop, Van bought a gold necklace for Lucy as she wore it around her neck after he bought it. It has a gold chain with a gold heart with the letter 'V' engraved on it. "It's beautiful."

"And lovely. Like you my lovely Lucy." Van told her and she smiled at this. "I'm gonna treasure this all the way!" Lucy stated as she hugged Van and kissed him afterwards. Kappei and Emma smiled at this as, "You sure you don't want anything Emma?"

"I already have it and I'm wearing them on my ears." Ah yes, the diamond earrings that she got from last year's Christmas. Kappei smiled at how much she treasures them as the 2 couples continued their mall fun for the next few hours.

At 11pm...

At the exact timing, Van's mother arrived to pick up the 2 couples as she drove by the main entrance. "They should be here by now..." She thought as she winded down the window to be on a lookout and then, they showed as, "Hi mom!" Van called out.

"How's the double date?" She asked.

"We had a lot of fun together." said Emma as she stifled a yawn.

Van's mother smiled at this as they got inside the ride. She drove the teens home and along the way, she stopped at a red light and looked behind for a second. The 2 couples are asleep with Kappei and Emma leaning their heads onto each other and likewise, Van and Lucy.

Well that was fun. Been a long time since they hang out together. And I mean, the 4 of them.

Up next, they're gonna do some visiting. And Gumchi tags along with them. Sure, I'm pretty busy in my job lately but still on the roll to work on the story at least.

Van's father. He was attacked by assailants and to save his son who went to check on him, he gave him the ninja gum and he chewed it, unlocking the power of the shinobi and later in his teen years, manifested the awakened power.

The attack hospitalized him but soon enough, he recovered and continued working for the WNA while his son studies in the WNA Academy and later, the Advanced WNA High in Oedo. He also participated in the war against the Space Ninjas.

Right now, he's still doing good in the WNA and has balanced his time between work and family.
