Note: As October has finally arrived, it feels necessary to have chapters and stories based around Halloween. Even if said stories and chapters aren't centered around the holiday, they can still be the occasional parody of a horror movie. Of course, anyone can write what they want. It's not a requirement for a story to be based around what happens in the real world. Then again, it IS fun to write a spooky story in time for Halloween. A story about going trick-or-treating is also a good exercise.

This story was in need of a new chapter, considering how the previous one was posted back in June, right before the beginning of July. Sorry for the long wait, I was busy with my other stories. One has even ended this month, so go check it out if you're interested. If not, that's okay.

Now that I've said all of that, it's time for chapter ten.

Chapter 10: Halloween

Since the day he had met Rachel, Owen played with her more than he did prior. Molly even joined in during their games, considering how she wanted to be friends with the coyote pup as well. While the kids were becoming the best of friends, Baloo and Lexi tried to work out more playdates between their son and his friends. Dr. Cunningham was fine with Molly coming over to their house, though that depended on her schedule at work. As for the Jamesons, they insisted on coming to every playdate, mainly because they didn't want Rachel to get hurt. Baloo and Lexi had a safe house, so there was nothing to worry about, but they understood why Louisa and Olivia wanted to keep an eye on their daughter.

As time went by, Molly introduced Owen to a bear cub named Kit Cloudkicker. He was older than both of them, being around ten-years-old, but he was a nice boy. Once they met, the three became friends, agreeing to play with each other at recess. Rachel met the older boy a few days later, though she didn't immediately play with him like her friends did. Both Owen and Molly found this strange, considering how Kit was friendly to those around him. They hoped that the coyote pup would change her mind, but the young bear knew that she needed time to decide on whether or not she would want to be friends with him.

Months went by, and things hadn't changed much for the household. Baloo didn't get a promotion at his job, but Lexi did, though she refused to let that get her husband down. Owen had passed Preschool, meaning that he would enter Kindergarten in August. Summer vacation gave the family time to relax and have fun, even though the cub-bunny would have to go back to school once it ended. Just two weeks before the first day, Baloo and Lexi had gotten new clothes for Owen, as well as school supplies that he would need. While they didn't get a whole lot of clothes for their son, the bear and the rabbit made sure that he was prepared for Kindergarten.

When school started again, Owen was enrolled in Kindergarten while Baloo and Lexi continued their work. Baloo had finally gotten a promotion, whereas Lexi kept her current one. They turned down offers to move to offices that were in different towns, as it would separate their little boy from his friends. As for their friends, they were getting ready for a special occasion that would be happening near the end of Fall. Owen had already turned six, so it was another special occasion. It wasn't for a single person, but for multiple people, both young and old. Baloo, Lexi and Owen needed to be ready for it as well, considering that they had partook in it in the past, even when the bear and the rabbit were still dating.

On October 31st, Owen came home from a long day at school. He had been learning math problems and reading books, though he went to recess and did arts and crafts. The cub-bunny also helped decorate for the night, as there would be visitors at the school that night. It wasn't a parent-teacher conference or a school dance, but rather a celebration for the yearly holiday that happens at the end of October. While the parents and children would still come, they would not come separately, due to not wanting to be away from each other that night. It was especially safe to do so on a night like this one: Halloween.

With it being Halloween, Owen knew that he would have to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Both Baloo and Lexi offered to take him around the neighborhood to ask for candy, though he declined. It was mainly because the six-year-old felt he would do better at it if he was older. Granted, most boys and girls his age and younger went out, but older children went trick-or-treating on Halloween. Even teenagers and grown ups went out trick-or-treating, despite being at ages one would consider too old to do so. With that in mind, Owen wanted to wait another year or so before he participated in the tradition.

At dinner, Baloo and Lexi left Owen alone so that they open bags of candy and dump them in the bowl they used every Halloween. While his parents were busy, the cub-bunny ate what he could. Trick-or-treaters would be knocking at the door at any moment, so he wanted to help give out the candy. Of course, the six-year-old wanted to put on his costume before he went outside. Despite not going around the neighborhood and getting a bag full each year, he liked to wear costumes, which were usually given to him by his mother and father. This year, however, the boy was going to wear a costume of his choosing. It was up in his room, so he just needed to put it on once he got done eating.

When Owen was done eating, he went upstairs to get changed into his costume. Once he was out of their sight, Baloo and Lexi sat by the door, deciding to have a moment to themselves. The rabbit sat on her husband's lap, seductively looking into his eyes. Sending a smile her way, the bear pulled his wife closer to him. In no time, they were kissing and hugging each other, quickly going from passionate to lustful. They had no time for any sexual activity, considering that Owen would be down at any moment. Not only that, but the trick-or-treaters would be knocking on the door.

"I'm coming down!" Owen called from upstairs.

Breaking apart from each other, Baloo and Lexi looked up and saw Owen walking down the stairs. The boy was dressed up in a black cloak, with a toy scythe sticking out of the back. He was also wearing gloves that made his hands look like they were down to the bone. Lexi approached her son, taking out a makeup kit. She was going to paint the cub-bunny's face, so that his costume could be complete. While the rabbit did that, Baloo sat by the door with the bowl of candy, listening for trick-or-treaters who were about to knock on the door.

Suddenly, a knock came on the door, causing Baloo to pull it open. He saw a girl dressed up as a mime, holding out a bag. The girl looked around nine-years-old, but it was hard to tell due to her makeup. Nonetheless, she was a trick-or-treater and she was waiting for some candy.

"Alrighty, Owen, time to give some kids candy!" Baloo called over to his son.

When Lexi was done applying makeup to Owen, she let him go join his father. As her husband and son would be at the door for the time being, she would be responsible for giving them bags of candy whenever they ran out, so that there eould be enough for anyone. The rabbit would often join them in handing out candy, but she took a backseat this time. Both Baloo and Owen were nice to the people who visited the house, so it wasn't hard for them. Keeping that in mind, Lexi went to sit on the couch, turning on the TV to find something to watch. If her loved ones needed another bag of candy, she would get it to them as quickly as she could.

Now that they were outside, Owen and Baloo began to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Each kid got a few pieces of candy from the two, though it was primarily because Owen had a hard time getting a handful to give to them. Baloo gave his son a hand, though they knew not all of the candy would end up with the trick-or-treaters. It was like that every year, seeing as they often had more candy than they needed. However, Lexi would occasionally take some of the remaining candy to work with her, so they had a way of getting rid of the candy, but not all of it. The rest of it would end up eaten by the family.

After giving candy to a few more trick-or-treaters, Owen saw a familiar face walking up to the house: Rachel. She was dressed as a piece of candy, ironic given how Halloween was all about giving and receiving candy when it wasn't about scary stuff. Olivia and Louisa were with their daughter, albeit not in costume like certain parents Owen had seen that night. Nonetheless, they were still trick-or-treating, so it was the boy's job to give his friend some candy.

"Trick-or-treat!" Rachel spoke.

"Hi Rachel." Owen said, holding some candy over Rachel's bag.

"So, Owen, how are you doing?" Louisa asked.

"I'm okay." The cub-bunny said. "I'm handing out candy!"

"We can see that, bud." Olivia spoke. "Anyway, we're going to be out of town tomorrow."

"What for?" Baloo asked.

"I'm going to visit my grandpa." Rachel said.

"That sounds like fun!" Owen said.

"You bet it is." Olivia said. "Sorry if we're wasting your time, guys. There are probably dozens of kids waiting for candy."

"Oh, no problem!" Baloo said. "People can wait for those around them. But, yeah, you should really move on."

"In that case, we'll see you guys when we get back." Louisa said, beginning to walk away.

"Bye Owen!" Rachel said.

"Bye!" Owen said. "I'll see you at school when you come back!"

Once that was out of the way, Baloo and Owen continued handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. In the process, they had to occasionally give different kinds of candy to certain kids, primarily due to those kids having allergies. Despite that, things were going smoothly for them. However, Owen was scared by a few costumes, so Baloo gave out candy in his place. While the cub-bunny would resume giving out candy, that was only because the trick-or-treaters he gave candy to weren't in frightening costumes. He only hoped that the rest of the people who came by the house wore friendly or goofy costumes.

While watching TV, Lexi felt sick to her stomach. She hadn't seen anything particularly revolting on screen, so it was clear she wasn't feeling good. After handing Baloo and Owen another bag of candy, the rabbit went to the bathroom, where she vomited. Upon getting out, she wanted to go back into the living room, but she felt as though that wouldn't be a good idea. If she was feeling sick, then the doe needed to take some medicine to make her feel just a little bit better. With that in mind, she took a spoonful of Pepto Bismol, which calmed her abdomen somewhat.

Before she could leave the kitchen, Lexi thought about a surprise that she and Baloo wanted to give to Owen on his birthday. While they gave their son a surprise party, it wasn't the one that they planned on showing him. Ever since he gave his New Years Resolution, the bear and the rabbit wanted to do something to honor their son's wish. The cub-bunny could have been joking, but it seemed inevitable that he would have to learn some responsibility as he grew up. One such responsibility would be the one his parents hoped to teach him about. If only it could work.

Opening the cabinet and reaching into it, Lexi took out a box of pregnancy tests. She hadn't used one since she was pregnant with Owen, so she had to buy a new box in order to replace the ones that were expired. Pulling one out, the rabbit went back into the bathroom and used it on herself. After that, she looked at it, knowing that the results would show up in no time. Upon looking at it, the doe smiled at what she had seen. When trick-or-treat was over, she wanted to speak to Baloo in private, so that Owen did not hear them.

When trick-or-treat was over for the night, Lexi watched as Baloo came in, carrying Owen. The boy had fallen asleep, apparently becoming exhausted while handing out candy. Seeing that her son needed to change his clothes before he went to bed, Lexi took him out of Baloo's arms. As the rabbit went upstairs with the cub-bunny, the bear brought in the candy bowl, so that no one would steal it. He knew that Lexi would be giving their little boy a bath before bedtime, as it would be a school day tomorrow. Of course, it would also be a work day tomorrow, as the day after Halloween wasn't a holiday people got a day off of.

Eventually, Baloo joined his family upstairs. Once he got up there, he saw Lexi taking Owen to bed. The cub-bunny was all tucked in, ready for a night of slumber. After that, however, Lexi quickly left the room and took Baloo's hand. She practically dragged her husband to the master bedroom, running as fast as a gazelle. The rabbit had rarely run around in the house before, which concerned Baloo.

The moment they were in their bedroom, Lexi had Baloo sit on the bed while she closed the door. She then faced him with a smile on her face, one that looked almost too big for her body to handle.

"Well, someone's in high spirits!" Baloo spoke.

"I've got a surprise for you!" Lexi said.

Reaching into her pocket, Lexi pulled out the pregnancy test she had used earlier. Knowing what the device was used for, Baloo waited for his wife to show him the results. Once he was handed the device, the bear gasped and got a smile on his face, one that rivaled the one Lexi had. There were two lines on the pregnancy test, meaning that the results were positive.

"All that work since March has finally paid off." Lexi said.

"I'll say." Baloo said. "We're about to have another mouth to feed, honey!"

"Hopefully, Owen doesn't get jealous towards the new baby." The rabbit said.

"Oh, Lexi, he'll be fine." The bear assured her. "After all, he DID mention that he wanted to be a big brother some day."

"Let's hope you're right about this, Baloo." The doe said.

With that out of the way, Baloo and Lexi took showers and got changed for the night. They passed up the idea of sexual activity before bed, considering how Owen had school and that they had to go to work the following day. Upon climbing into bed, the bear and the rabbit fell asleep, cuddling each other for warmth. As they slept, nothing bothered them, though they occasionally needed to get up for a trip to the bathroom. Despite that, the night was peaceful and serene, as all was well in the house. By tomorrow, a new day would begin.

Note: It looks like Lexi's pregnant again. Is the baby a boy or a girl? Will Baloo be the one to take his wife to the hospital? Are the friends of the couple going to help them? How will Owen react to a new baby in the house? How will the extended family react?

Until next time, guys, this is ElectricWizard99, signing off. Peace! Also, have a Happy Halloween! Give out some candy and some good scares!
