Link's Mindscape
Link registered the fact he fell asleep; however, in what literally felt like the next moment, he was back in that clearing he first met Wild in. Said past life was standing before him now; however, there was a difference in that rather than being transparent, he was fully tangible.
This wasn't anything new, though it was rarely used since Link didn't gain anything physically by training with his past life in his mindscape. Even with that in mind, given what has been happening, he doubted training was why his past life brought him here.
"Wild." Link greeted.
"You know, I didn't think sending you after my paraglider would lead to what's happened." Wild shrugged. "At the end of the day, every Link's adventure progresses in its own way."
"Typically, we don't talk before training." Link noted. "Are you displeased with my decision?"
"Not at all." Wild smiled in a way that spoke volumes, though the present spirit of the hero couldn't read all the text behind it. "In fact, I find myself proud of the decision you've made. While it's led you to the reincarnation of the goddess, know that's only part of why I'm proud."
"Wait." Link stated. "The reincarnation of Hylia is at this academy?"
"Yes." Wild voiced, his prior demeanor turning serious. "I can't tell you who she is, but I can inform you she was within the amphitheater earlier."
"If she was that close, wouldn't my piece of the Triforce have resonated?" Link questioned, assuming she'd have the Triforce of Wisdom.
"Well, the prior reincarnation of the goddess didn't inherit it." Wild reminded. "It was only later it'd end up with her descendants, which could mean it's a similar case now."
"That's not what you really think, right?" Link asked, knowing his past life well enough to tell.
"Given the nature of the first legend, there were extenuating circumstances." Wild nodded. "By all accounts, that first reincarnation was as good a representation of wisdom as any of her descendants. While Hylia has been reincarnated anew, she should still be worthy all the same."
"If she doesn't have it, who would be a better representation of wisdom?" Link questioned.
"I do not know." Wild shook his head, troubled. "Perhaps the latest reincarnation just isn't as good a representation due to the circumstances of her birth. Perhaps someone else in the world is simply better. In that second case, it may very well be the Dark One of this era."
"I can see why you wanted to talk to me, though you can't truly confirm anything." Link noted.
According to Wild, the Hero of Time was aware of what his descendent/holder of the spirit of the hero was up against. For whatever reason, perhaps the fact he was the Hero of the Wild rather than Time, Wild didn't have the full picture. Even things he knew weren't always said.
"Let's say the Triforce of Wisdom went to this era's Dark One, that would mean the Triforce of Power would be the one completely up in the air." Link reasoned.
"While nothing is confirmed, this is something you should bear in mind moving forward." Wild advised. "Regardless of the truth, it is with precedence the Dark One has wielded a piece of the Triforce. In that regard, you have to be ready to face one wielding wisdom or power."
Link hopped the Dark One of this era was utilizing the Triforce of Power. From the stories Wild told him, he felt he understood how he'd combat that. If the Dark One was utilizing the Triforce of Wisdom, that was relatively uncharted territory.
Sure, many a Zelda wielded it; however, it wasn't common for a Link to fight her or anyone wielding that piece. Not to mention the piece was so tied to Zelda one would have to unravel what powers were hers and what powers were bequeathed by the Triforce of Wisdom.
"All of this could be worrying over nothing, but it would be unwise to forgo preparation." Link looked to his past life. "Given we're talking about the pieces of the Triforce, can we go over what they do separately again? Preferably in the order of wisdom, power, and courage?"
Wild nodded approvingly of such a question. "Of course…"
Going over all that wouldn't be covered in a single night, even with Link knowing a lot of it already from prior conversations, but it would mark a shift in what Wild focused on in these occasions where they'd meet.
Ballroom: Morning…
Link opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling as his mind worked to comprehend just what he'd learned from Wild. Eventually, he took a deep breath and rose from his blanket. No matter how you looked at it, he couldn't stay in the sleeping bag forever nor would he consider it.
Link first glanced at Jaune, who was still sleeping peacefully, before then looking around the ballroom. He appeared to be up earlier than most other prospective students, which wasn't unusual for him. He did spot Weiss leaving the ballroom, indicating she'd been up before him.
"Hm, she didn't strike me as an early riser." Link shrugged it off before turning to his fellow blond and shaking him. "Jaune, it's the morning of initiation."
Link wasn't typically one to wake people up because prior to this there hadn't generally been anything too important. Sure, the caravans he traveled with outside the walls generally had a location, but there never seemed to be a real hurry.
Perhaps part of that played into the fact out there the caravans understood they had to get there and generally saw people getting up to accommodate. Perhaps it was also down to the fact that after losing his parents, Link was pretty much responsible for himself.
Even then, he never really noticed those who traveled in pairs or groups taking too long to get up. All this is to say while he didn't feel truly responsible for anyone here, there were those who'd extended a hand or he inadvertently stuck his hand out to them.
"Can't I sleep a little longer?" Jaune asked, pulling his blanket over himself.
"Do as you wish." Link stated genuinely, now rising himself. "Just remember, you're now the one responsible if you don't end up making it to initiation."
His fellow blond began shifting around at that, and while he didn't speak any further, Link had the general idea it wouldn't be much longer until he woke up himself. Once he had things in order, Link started to leave and ended up spotting the Rose-Xiaolong siblings.
Both were sound asleep in their respective sleeping bags. He ended up deciding to extend them the same kindness he had Jaune. Link knelt and shook Ruby's shoulder enough for her to wake. The younger girl's eyes fluttered open and she started groaning from being woken up.
"Link?" Ruby questioned.
"It's up to you from here, but initiation is today." Link stood. "I'd get your sister up and get ready."
"Right." Ruby sat up and stretched her arms. "Thanks for waking me up."
Link simply nodded before moving to exit, but before he stepped out, something caught his attention.
"Wake up, lazy bun!" A girl's voice suddenly rang out.
Link looked over to see a short, fair-skinned girl with orange hair and turquoise eyes. Her attire consisted of a black sleeveless vest over a white sleeveless t-shirt, a pair of light pink fingerless gloves, and a short pink skirt with a single white layer under it.
Said girl was currently getting a boy up from his sleep, and he did not seem pleased about it. "It's morning. It's morning. It's morning."
The boy being woken had long black hair, tied into a ponytail that ends midway down his back, with a magenta streak on the left side and pale pink eyes. His attire consists of a dark green, diagonally buttoned tailcoat with a long black shirt beneath the suit.
"Did those two go to sleeping in their normal attire?" Link pondered.
It wasn't uncommon for him to do the same, though that had been outside the walls. So, this could very well be the case with those two. Either way, it was nothing more than another theory, one he tossed aside in favor of heading off to get ready for the day.
Bathroom
Weiss entered the bathroom and checked to see she was alone. After confirming she was, the heiress approached the sink and splashed some water on her face.
"Last night was dreadful." Weiss wasn't even accounting for the things that happened prior to her sleeping. "Some type of castle…I was standing before an altar…Then, there was that girl's voice."
Weiss simply couldn't recall everything, yet it all seemed so vivid. Then, she froze as that same memory from when she fought the Arma Gigas played through her mind now.
Weiss was knelt in the courtyard as snow fell around her on this night, the broken moon in the sky shining light to illuminate the area. Myrtenaster was stabbed on the ground in front of her.
"Your Aura can only shield you from one or two direct attacks at most." Winter had walked up to her sister. "When your Aura is gone, another attack will finish you. Those without power will return to dust." She then walked away. "That is the law of this world."
A sad look crossed Weiss' face for a moment as she bit her lip before ultimately shaking her head to clear everything away.
Weiss now shut the water off while firming her expression. "I can't let some dream unsettle me like this, not today and certainly no day moving forward."
Composing herself and assuming a proper demeanor, the heiress strolled out of the bathroom.
Minutes Later…
Link was brushing his teeth when he noticed the same duo was nearby, that guy brushing his teeth as the girl continued to move about around him.
"I can't believe we've been at Beacon for a full 24 hours, not that I thought we'd get kicked out." The girl voiced. "I mean, you're the perfect student while I'm me."
Link started tuning her out.
Ballroom
After his business with the bathrooms was done, and he was dressed, Link went back to the ballroom to collect his things. Once again, he saw the same pair. The guy was tying up his sleeping bag while the girl talked.
"We've been friends for soooo long." The girl voiced. "What are the odds we'd still be together? Well not together-together. Not that I'm saying you're not handsome. You are handsome, but that would just be weird, right?"
"I don't think those two have had breakfast yet, so just what did that girl eat last night to give her all this energy today?" Link contemplated, heading out to get some breakfast himself.
Cafeteria
Link entered the cafeteria to grab breakfast, seems as though they made pancakes. It wasn't long into his before that same duo arrived and got to eating their own breakfast. The boy was cutting up some pancakes while the girl was talking with a pancake hanging out her mouth.
"Right, what was I thinking? Still, I hope we end up on the same team together." She swallowed that pancake whole. "Oh, we should come up with some sort of plan to end up on the same team. What if we bribed the headmaster? No, that won't work, he has a school."
At this point, Link took his breakfast and moved out of ear range of the two. It's not like he particularly minded the pair, but he's already heard enough of their conversation. Not long after he found a new seat, Ruby approached.
"Do you mind if I join you?" Ruby questioned, clearly hesitant.
"I would not mind it, no." Link answered simply.
Ruby took a seat across from him. "So, I see Jaune wasn't with you."
"He also wasn't in the ballroom when I returned from the bathroom." Link informed. "So, I assume he is still off getting ready, much like I imagine your sister to be doing the same."
"Yeah, Yang can take a bit when it comes to getting ready in the morning." Ruby stated.
"Anyways, mind filling me in on what was the root cause of you, your sister, and the heiress arguing last night?" Link asked.
"I recognized that black haired girl, who I learned is Blake, we both saw when first meeting Weiss yesterday, so my sister decided to drag me over in an attempt to have me make a friend." Ruby replied, scratching her cheek. "Things quickly escalated until you diffused everything."
"I take it your sister is the type that means well but can be a little too eager." Link reasoned.
"You have no idea." Ruby sighed. "I absolute love my older sister; however, she can be a bit much at times."
"Regardless of that, it sounds to me like you haven't exactly been the one to make the first move in getting to know someone." Link noted. "Take it from me, low social skills aren't exactly going to do you any good beyond the wall. In particular, you need to be able to speak with a client."
"Ugh, I can't believe you're talking to me about how I need to socialize." Ruby groaned. "What do you even know?"
"I don't speak from the perspective of a Hunter, but I've had the opportunity to speak with quite a few of them." Link voiced. "While there are job with no human interaction, I do not believe the best emerge strictly taking those. I could be wrong, but I assume you are aiming for just that."
Ruby went wide eyed before it turned to a slightly melancholic look, promoting him to continue. "I'm not trying to force your hand, merely saying there is merit to trying to socialize here. If you wanted to try now, I'd say that girl a few tables behind you could work."
Ruby looked back, now noticing that girl with red hair and green eyes who'd seen her, Link, and Jaune enter the amphitheater.
"What makes you say I should try speaking with her?" Ruby asked.
"She isn't actively doing something at the moment and is currently alone." Link shrugged. "Could be worth a shot, but I'm not about to force you into this like your sister might."
"Well, what if I wanted you to come with me as a form of support?" Ruby asked hesitantly.
"I'd be fine with it, though you'd need to be the one of the two of us who speaks with her first." Link replied.
Ruby looked down at her tray of food for a good moment before looking up and slowly nodding. "I guess I can try."
Link said nothing more as he stood with Ruby, picking up his tray as she did hers, and followed her to the table of the red head. Said red head stiffened upon noticing their approach, with her expression quickly morphing to a polite smile.
"Hm, perhaps I've misjudged the situation." Link contemplated, though it was much too late to abort.
Ruby took a deep breath. "Hi. I'm Ruby Rose."
"Oh, hello there." Pyrrha blinked, mildly surprised. "I'm Pyrrha."
"My name is Link." Link voiced.
Pyrrha's smile softened, becoming more genuine. "Nice to meet you Link."
Ruby hesitated, before ultimately deciding to forge ahead. "Do you mind if we sit with you?"
"If you would like to, you'd be welcome to have a seat." Pyrrha answered, mildly surprised with only Link noticed it.
Regardless, both sat across from her.
"So, are you new here?" Ruby asked. "This is my first day…although I guess it's everyone's first day, isn't it? I mean, everyone is here for the first time because it's the first day, and we're all here to be Huntresses and Huntsman and…I'm going to stop talking now."
Things were just awkward to the younger girl, and she didn't even have her weapon to pull out.
"I am new here, yes." Pyrrha smiled gently while seeming mildly curious. "If you don't mind me asking, you seem a bit young for Beacon."
"That's because I am!" Ruby sighed in relief. "Young I mean. I'm fifteen. I wasn't supposed to be going to Beacon for two more years. My sister Yang is going this year."
"So, are you here to see your older sister off then?" Pyrrha questioned, unaware if there was or wasn't some rule against family being here on the day of initiation.
"Oh no!" Ruby quickly shook her head. "I am going here this year. I just got in two years early."
"That's remarkable!" Pyrrha's eyes widened. "I don't remember hearing about anyone getting into one of the four main academies so early."
"It's not really that big a deal." Ruby winced. "It was more of an accident, really."
"I wouldn't call stopping Roman Torchwick from robbing a dust shop an accident." Link noted.
"That was YOU?" Pyrrha beamed at Ruby. "That's amazing! The news said it was a trio of Hunters from Beacon, but they didn't give names." She looked at them. "Was that you two?"
Ruby was starting to get embarrassed since she didn't want to stick out for anything; however, Pyrrha seemed impressed.
"Maybe it'd be fine to accept someone bringing it up just this once." Ruby reasoned before nodding. "I started the stopping of the robbery, but Link here and Miss Goodwitch showed up to protect me at the end."
"All I did was shoot a canister of Fire Dust out of the air while Miss Goodwitch drove the man off." Link informed. "Ruby did the initial work by subduing the thugs and driving Roman up to a roof. She, in my opinion, deserve practically all the credit."
"Most wonderful." Pyrrha was beaming. "It's an honor to meet you, Ruby Rose."
"Um…thanks?" Ruby couldn't stop herself from blushing. "I mean, I'm sure anyone would have done the same."
"I disagree." Pyrrha smiled softly. "Despite two of you acting in the situation as you did, most people would have opted not to. In my opinion, it sounds to me like you, Ruby, should be prouder of your accomplishments."
"I am!" Ruby sighed. "I mean, I'm really glad I got to come to Beacon. I was sad I'd be away from my big sister for two years, and I've always wanted to train at Beacon. My mom and dad trained here, and they became Hunters.
I just don't know if I want everyone to think I'm weird." She chuckled self-deprecatingly. "I mean, I guess I am kind of weird. I'm obsessed with weapons, and I'm younger than everyone here..."
"Anyone who thinks your 'weird' will merely be those who are jealous." Link stated. "Make no mistake Ruby, you are rather accomplished compared to quite a few people, and that is something you should never let keep you from excelling further."
"I agree whole heartedly with Link." Pyrrha nodded. "Ruby, you're clearly destined to go far."
"Thanks." Ruby smiled, feeling more than a little overwhelmed.
"Hey, what's going on over here?" Yang questioned, having entered the cafeteria and immediately making her way over to the table.
"Your sister decided to drag me to meet Pyrrha here." Link voiced, slightly amused as he told a technical truth given how things went down. "Can't say I mind since it's been a rather good conversation."
Due to being priorly overwhelmed, Ruby found it hard to speak up on what had actually transpired to cause this.
"That right?" Yang grinned as she took a seat beside Pyrrha. "I got to say, I didn't expect my sister to go about making a friend herself." She shrugged. "Hey, any friend of hers is a friend of mine." She smiled at her sister. "I'm proud of you Rubes!"
Ruby had better sorted her thoughts, but before she could speak up on what actually happened, she glanced Pyrrha's way. Said girl was giving her a genuine smile, so perhaps the younger girl could just accept the story as Link laid it out.
"I guess so." Ruby voiced. "Are we friends, Pyrrha?"
Pyrrha seemed to think about that for a moment before nodding. "I certainly wouldn't mind that, Ruby."
Yang gave a thumb's up. "Excellent!" She then turned to Pyrrha. "On that note, how's your meeting go down?"
"Well, I wouldn't quite say your sister dragged Link over here; however, both did approach and introduce themselves." Pyrrha responded. "I'd say Link has been quite at ease while your sister was charming."
Yang looked dubious. "Ruby was?"
Ruby groaned and Pyrrha giggled. "I thought so, yes."
Ruby shook her head. "I started to babble after the first ten seconds."
Yang laughed and gave Pyrrha a friendly punch to the shoulder. "If you survived a Ruby babble storm, you're alright in my book."
Pyrrha looked shocked at the familiarity before smiling. She didn't seem to know quite what to say, but she certainly looked pleased. Ruby merely ended up pushing her tray forward and putting her head down to cover her face.
"Well, sorry to take my leave now, but I'm going to go have a look for another friend of mine." Link voiced, figuring he was done here.
Locker Room: Later…
The girl and boy Link ended up seeing at multiple points that morning where in the locker rooms collecting their weapons from their assigned lockers.
"I know!" The girl was putting a combination hammer/grenade launcher on her back. "We'll have some sort of signal, like a distress signal." She gasped. "A secret signal, so that we can find each other in the forest." She pointed at him. "Can you imitate a sloth?"
"Nora." The boy stated, sliding collapsable bladed machine pistols into his sleeves.
"Yes Ren?" Nora asked.
Ren now pulled out a dagger, sliding it into its sheath under his pant leg. "I don't think sloths make noise."
"That's why it's perfect!" Nora was reinvigorated by his response. "No one will suspect we're working together."
"Come on Nora." Ren gave a small smile her way as he closed his locker and started walking. "Let's go."
"But not together-together." Nora voiced, skipping after him.
The pair passed by Ruby and Yang; the sister pair having separated from Pyrrha here as her locker was elsewhere.
"Wonder what those two are so excited about?" Ruby questioned.
"Oh, who knows." Yang replied. "Anyways, you seem awfully chipper. I mean more so than after you picked your head up off the cafeteria table."
"Yep." Ruby giggled. "No more awkward small talk or getting to know you stuff." She pulled out Crescent Rose. "From here on out, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking."
"Just remember, you're not the only one going through initiation." Yang reminded. "If you want to grow up, you'll have to continue meeting new people and learn to work together."
"Ugh, you sound like dad." Ruby groaned. "Okay, first of all, what does meeting people have to do with fighting?" She put her weapon back for the moment. "Secondly, I don't need people to help me grow." She crossed her arms. "I drink milk."
"What about when we form teams?" Yang asked.
"I don't think I need to meet anyone new for that." Ruby retorted. "I mean, there's you obviously. That means all we really need is to decide who we want between Link, Jaune, and Pyrrha. See, there's no real need to meet anyone else."
In that moment, their father's words ran through Yang's mind.
"I love you support each other, but she can't rely on you for everything, you know?"
"Maybe you should forget about me and just try forming a team with Jaune, Link, and Pyrrha." Yang stated, pulling her hair forward and running her hands through it.
"My dear sister Yang." Ruby voiced suspiciously as she approached and pointed at her. "Are you implying you do not wish to be on the same team as me?"
"What, no." Yang waved her hands. "Of course I do. I just thought, I don't know…I thought maybe it'd help you break out of your shell."
"What!?" Ruby exclaimed, dismayed. "I've done more than enough of that to the point such a suggestion is ridiculous."
The sister pair continued their current conversation while Jaune and Link, the latter having reminded the former where his locker was, walked to get their weapons. They ended up passing by Pyrrha and Weiss.
"So, Pyrrha." Weiss broached. "Have you given any thought to whose team you'd like to be on? I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual such as yourself."
Whereas her smile had become genuine with Link and Ruby, remaining so as Yang joined them, Pyrrha was now with a full-on polite smile as she addressed the heiress. "Hm, I'm not quite sure. I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may."
In truth, Pyrrha had a team in mind. She wasn't aware exactly how teams were formed, but she felt the three people who sat with her would make for a good team. Of course, she wasn't one to be rude in outright denying the heiress.
"Well, I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together." Weiss reasoned.
"That sounds grand." Pyrrha responded.
"Great!" Weiss turned and smirked. "This will be perfect. The smartest girl in class combined with the strongest girl in class. Together we will be unstoppable. I can see it now. We'll be popular. We'll be celebrities. We'll get perfect grades. Oh, nothing could come between us now."
As if on cue, Jaune slid between them with Link standing by.
"You know what else is great?" Jaune got her attention, speaking with confidence. "Me, Jaune Arc. Nice to meet you."
Weiss crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "You again."
"Ah, this must be the friend Link went to check on." Pyrrha looked his way. "It's nice to meet you Jaune."
"Yeah, Yeah." Jaune voiced dismissively, his attention fully on the heiress. "So, Weiss, couldn't help but overhear your fondness of me yesterday."
"You have got to be kidding." Weiss sighed, exasperated.
"Don't worry." Jaune waved his hands. "No need to be embarrassed. Anyways, I've been hearing rumors about teams~, and I was thinking we'd make a good one. What do you say?"
"Actually, I think the teams are comprised of four students." Pyrrha noted.
"You don't say…" Jaune first glanced at Link.
Link shrugged. "Guess I wouldn't be opposed to it."
Even though he'd caught a ride with Ozpin personally, Link had no idea how teams of four were to be decided. That said, he didn't think he'd go about seeking anyone out in particular. If it just so happened to line up that he was with Jaune, he'd role with it.
"Well, hot stuff." Jaune grinned as he now addressed Pyrrha. "Play your cards right and maybe you could join the winning team."
"Jaune, is it?" Weiss questioned, having stepped between the two to separate them. "Do you have any idea who you are talking to?"
"Not in the slightest, Snow Angel." Jaune answered.
"Really, the brute didn't fill you in?" Weiss asked, finally ordaining to address Link.
"I don't really keep up with news within the kingdoms beyond the headmasters of the academies, Schnee Dust Company, and criminals." Link voiced.
"This is Pyrrha." Weiss informed.
"No, I understand that much." Link interrupted, catching Weiss and Jaune's attention. "We met just this morning actually."
"You spoke to Pyrrha?" Weiss asked, incredulously.
"Indeed, we did." Pyrrha was the one to answer, catching the heiress off guard. "By the way, hello again Link."
"Pyrrha." Link greeted before then looking to the heiress. "I just thought it'd be rude to interject prior to this point." He waved his hand as a gesture to proceed. "Anyways, do proceed with whatever point you're trying to make."
"Yes, well…" Weiss cleared her through and composed herself. "Pyrrha here graduated top of her class at Sanctum."
"Never heard of it." Jaun replied.
"Ugh, she's won the Mistral Regional Tournament four years in a row." Weiss tried.
"I've said where my knowledge is at in relation to the four kingdoms." Link voiced.
"She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes box!" Weiss exclaimed, waving her arms in exasperation.
"That's you!" Jaune gasped and pointed. "They only do that for star athletes and cartoon characters."
"Yeah, it was pretty cool." Pyrrha nodded. "Sadly, the cereal isn't very good for you."
"After hearing all this, do you two really think you're in a position to ask her to be on your team?" Weiss asked.
Jaune wilted. "I suppose not…"
"Schnee, I've already told you your name means nothing here." Link declared firmly. "That's all the same for Pyrrha. After all, we're all here to learn to be Hunters and Huntresses. Once we pass initiation, we're all in the same boat. The Grimm certainly aren't going to care for your name."
Pyrrha beamed at Link. "I agree completely." She turned to Weiss with an apologetic smile. "Not that I don't appreciate your acknowledgment Weiss, but Link is correct. Who we were before Beacon shouldn't matter."
Weiss snorted. "Maybe it shouldn't, but neither of you can deny it does matter. People will treat us differently because of who we were before coming here."
"Perhaps inside the walls they will; however, Hunters generally take jobs outside them." Link voiced seriously. "When a village is facing down a horde of Grimm, they will not care what your name is. All they'll care for is if you can get the job done."
"You speak as though you know anything you're talking about." Weiss snorted.
"You're right in that technically I should have no idea, except my parents were Hunters." Link informed. "Beyond that fact, basically this last week is all the time I've spent within these walls. Before this, I was raised entirely outside the kingdoms.
While not licensed to kill Grimm, I've been running protection details on caravans traveling to even the most remote of villages across the four continents." He shrugged. "Take that for what it's worth. Decide for yourself what my word actually means to you."
Weiss stared in disbelief, Pyrrha felt he was honest, and Jaune stared in amazement.
"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation. Again, would all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."
"Looks like that's our cue." Link turned. "Lets…"
He couldn't finish his sentence as a guy with burnt-orange hair combed backward and with indigo eyes rudely brushed past him. He wore silver-gray armor with gold trim and flashed the entire group a smirk. They merely glanced his way before the guy proceeded out.
"As I was saying, let's go Jaune." Link voiced.
Once they were away from the girls, Jaune looked his way. "I don't understand where I went wrong. My dad always told me all woman look for is confidence."
"You're asking the wrong guy on matters of the heart, Jaune." Link replied.
"Then, it's a good thing I'm here." Yang declared, she and Ruby joining the pair. "I think you're first problem was the fact you called her Snow Angel. In my opinion, not the best start."
"Hey, uh, Link?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah?" Link asked.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked, referring to what the guy with orange hair did.
"I've dealt with far worse than someone attempting to assert dominance." Link patted her shoulder. "Even if it were anything, a simple shoulder bump is nothing."
With that, the four of them headed on out for initiation.
Now that we've reached this point, let's have a little chat and tackle somethings. Back in Ocarina of Time, when Ganondorf touched the Triforce within the Sacred Realm, it broke apart with each piece going to the person who best represents that trait. Ganondorf was power, Zelda held Wisdom, and Link contained courage. Here, as I've established concretely, we are not dealing with another descendent of the initial reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia.
The first Zelda was that while all subsequent Zeldas were descendants of that Zelda, not reincarnations themselves. Now, the spirit of the Goddess Hylia has reincarnated anew into Weiss Schnee. Does this mean I'm doing a Link x Weiss pairing? That is a possibility; however, I watched and agreed with the Zelda Loves series done by Zeldom. He makes a good point that Zelda isn't always the best pick for certain Link's endgame relationship.
For example, Breath of the Wild presents a clear Link x Zelda while Ocarina of Time seems to imply Link x Malon. Zeldom makes several points across all the mainline Zelda games. Sometimes its Zelda and sometimes it's another girl who is implied for Link. All of this is to say, while Weiss here is the reincarnation of Hylia, it does not automatically make her who this Link will end up with. The last point of possible contention is that I am seemingly applying a mix up to the teams.
I will not deny this, though no points made in this chapter also hint at endgame relationships. Right now, it is strictly to hinting at potential pairs. I figured I might as well do a change up since more often than not crossovers never seem to let any added characters change the team compositions. There are those that do, but I just personally tend not to see them. Essentially, what will come is a result of Link's involvement in the story.
No, Jaune is not about to die in the forest. No shame to any fanfiction author who has killed him early on, but you can rest assured he's safe for now. No matter what teams end up created, know that they will be rather close with each other by proxy of the general idea I have concerning Link's role in all this. Now, I do believe that should be everything.
HunterPrimeAW5M3: In an ideal world without restriction to budget preventing it, I'd want Yuri Lowenthal to voice Link. As for this Link's love life, there just isn't a Zelda here. I established early on for this story that the only Zelda to be a reincarnation of Hylia was the very first one. Every Zelda after were her descendent. Given the brothers ended up wiping out all life in their conflict, she just couldn't be unless I had Hylia reincarnate into her.
Monster King: I generally subscribe to the theory that Navi died after the events of Ocarina of Time. Fairies just seem to do that after their assigned purpose is fulfilled. Navi was given to Link to help him on his journey. With said Journey having been concluded, Navi flies of to fade away just to protect Link from having to see it. In that sense, weather Majora's Mask is seen as a dream or reality for this Link, it still helps him process the loss given the themes of that story. As for Epona, perhaps it'd work in Volume 4 when they hit the road. That's with the condition that Link ends up with Team RNJR for volume 4. There's a lot of intricate moving pieces here will very likely have huge impact on the story there. The Ocarina of Time and various Masks are certainly likely additions to this Link's arsenal though.
