In the Nakiri Mansion's main kitchen, there is a tense atmosphere as Yukihira Soma is in a stand off glaring contest with his wife Yukihira Nakiri Erina. Both prodigy chefs wear apron on and are standing before a table that has dozens of vegetables, fruits, and spices of many kinds that has been laid out upon its surface.

By the end of the table there is the 5-year-old Aki who sits while having her 2-year-old little brother Haruki on her lap. The two look at their parents in their tense stand off as they felt like they were in a world of their own.

Soon, growls came from Aki and Haruki's stomach that signifies that both children are hungry.

"Mama, Papa, hungry." The two cried out to their parents who took a quick glance at their kids before staring back to one another.

"Our kids as the judges?" said Soma while raising an eyebrow

"cook them something of a free genre?" Erina replied.

"something not too fancy, too high class?" Soma stated in.

"just simple and plain?" Erina added.

"you're on!" the two shouted in unison which surprised Aki and Haruki as they watched their parents instantly go to separate parts of the kitchen and start cooking.

How did this little cook off began? The answer is that a little scuffle that the two had a few hours earlier.

A few hours back, Soma and Erina are in their room as they were getting ready for the day.

"Soma, can you pass me the hair spray?" Erina asked her husband as she sat in front of her mirror while combing her hair but is having trouble because of a naughty strand that keeps poking out no matter how many times she combs it down.

"the purple one or the green one?" Soma replied as he is by their shared closet that has his wife's stored make up items. The man picks up two hair spray cans, but both look identical, only different in color. "both says Fashionist Hair Spray."

"the green one." Said Erina in a growl as she tries to comb the unruly hair down, but it won't listen to her. "this little..!"

"come on, no need to get cranky over some bed hair." Said Soma as he came and takes Erina's comb from her. "here, let me help."

Soma held the hair spray and shakes it a few times before spraying some of its content upon his wife's unruly hair then began to comb it.

Erina watches her husband as he works on her hair which he did so professionally; either because he learned how to do it in his travels or because of how he tends to his daughter and son's hair from time to time.

"there." Said Soma as he placed the comb down to the table and looks at his wife with a smile because her hair is now tidied like she wanted. "Looking beautiful as a bloomed rose." he leans down and placed a kiss on her cheeks and then to her neck. "and sexy too."

Erina slapped her husband's hands while blushing as Soma always gets playful from time to time.

The two then exited their room as they went to a playroom that has Aki and Haruki who are playing together.

"Mama! Papa!" the two squealed out in seeing their parents as they run to them.

"looks like you two rascals are having fun as always!" said Soma with a big grin as he carried Aki up and down in making his little girl squeal in delight. "you ready for a fun time at the amusement park?!"

"yeah~!" Aki replied cheerfully.

"amusement park?" said Erina in a confused voice while carrying Haruki in her arms. "I thought we decided to go to the Aquarium?"

"eh? But we decided for the amusement park last night, right?" Soma replied while putting down Aki. "I mean you said that it'd be nice to go there as a family."

"I was just saying it after Haruki has gotten a bit more bigger." Erina stated. "amusement park are still too big for him."

"oh come on, Erina. It's going to be fun and safe." Said Soma. "I've been going there ever since I was just a little kid. The place there is safe and very much fun too."

"no, we are going to the aquarium where there is no hazardous and dangerous amusement rides." Said Erina in a stern voice. "I have no desire for my daughter and son to be engrossed in such dangerous and traumatizing experience like riding a roller coaster!"

"are you saying that because you're scared of the roller coaster that made you scream like a little girl last time we went there?" said Soma with an easy going smile and in a joking manner that didn't settle well with his wife who had dozens of tick marks appearing behind her head.

Soon, it began. The usual banter between Soma and Erina as both are arguing on where they would bring their children for their fun weekend and that's how the cook off between husband and wife began.

Back to the present and in the kitchen, the little Shokugeki that had started is on fire as Soma and Erina cuts, fried, boiled, steam, and served their cooked dishes.

"it's done!" said Soma and Erina as both finished making their cooking and then served it in front of their kids. "eat up!"

Both look confident that they would win their kid's vote but when both husband-and-wife place down the plate of their dish, they instantly look surprise because both made the same dish. Yukihira Style Furikake Gohan new version.

"you made…the same thing?" Erina asked while looking surprised at her husband who is looking back in equal surprise to his wife.

"yay~!" Aki and Haruki cheered as both began to eat their parent's cooked meals. "yum~!"

Soma and Erina look at their two kids before each other as they slowly smiled while sighing.

"guess it's a draw, huh?" said Soma while crossing his arms. "the kids can't exactly tell which is better since they're the same dish."

"I guess so…." Erina replied with a chuckle as she went and takes a tissue to gently wipe a few food smudges from Haruki's cheeks, the little boy eating a bit slobby. "I wonder why we were bothering to do our little cook-off when we could've just asked our kids where they want to go?"

"yeah, I wonder why too." Said Soma.

"hey, Soma." Erina called out while wiping away more smudge from her son's cheeks. "let's go to that amusement park.."

"The one where we had our first date?" Soma asked as Erina nods. "why the sudden change of mind? The aquarium looking bad already?"

"not really." Said Erina as she had a soft nostalgic smile on her lips. "it's just that…remembering the amusement park…it was the first time I ever had fun besides cooking…" she then caresses and stroked her son's head. "when Haruki and Aki grow up, they might not get so much fun like they can have now.."

"I see." Said Soma as he got behind Aki and patted her head a few times. "that's true." He then looks back at Erina. "alrighty! After this, let's go to the amusement park!"

"yay~!" Aki and Haruki cheered while Erina smiles in seeing their instant reaction.

This cook off ended in draw for the two chefs and the dish got happy smiles from the kids which was a well enough reward for Soma and Erina.
