Chapter 6

Guest- I can do some Zaku hijacking. Whether it be Chief doing it remains to be seen.

Nezzux- A fair enough point, even if I don't see if I should add more Universes to this. How about I ask people in this chapter if I should add Primal characters to this? See what they think as well? I'll then put up a poll to see if they should be added or not. Is that fair?

Moose- Yes, so I can understand the skepticism of including Lilith here.

Leman42x-Well that is an option. Probably just give it more guns and we'll be good to go.

Mongrelman- What's wrong with dang? It's just a word that can be used in place of damn. Lots of adults that I know use dang instead of damn and often not around kids too. Quite a few of them are in their forties and thirties too.

That's fair to do in terms of food.

Artyom- That's fair. Perhaps fairer comparisons are needed.

R reyes- No you clearly asked if I was going to add more characters to this fic. At the very end. (You said, "adding a Disney character, what other will you add on this work of your dude." That what you said. It clearly means you're asking if I'm adding more characters. If I misinterpreted, then my bad.) No. I haven't thought of doing a Ben 10 fic.

Update- Poll is up now. Apologies for that.

Chapter 6

White Base

In the skies near the refugee camp and the Zeon base, a lone white, blue, and red warship were making its way towards the Zeon base. The warship was a blocky warship with a bridge that stuck out of the main body. It held two wings that extended out of the main body as well. It also held two block protrusions from the front that contained catapults for its Mobile Suit force, which is an oddity for the people that she fights for.

The reason why it's an oddity was that the Earth Federation, the government that this ship belonged to, was not versed in the usage of Mobile Suits in warfare. This was because Mobile Suits were a relatively new concept for combat purposes. In fact, the concept of using giant mechs in combat was started by the Principality of Zeon, who wanted an edge against the Earth Federation, who held more men and materials than Zeon could ever hope to possess. This was because the Principality of Zeon was a mere clustered group of Space colonies in the Earth Sphere called a Side, specifically Side 3, the Side furthest from Earth and the moon. A group of colonies was made so that humans can have a place to live beyond just Earth for the moon. Though each Side was self-reliant, they didn't match the sheer production output and resources that the Earth Federation possessed. Even together, the Sides hold only a fraction of the resources and production capabilities that the Earth Federation possesses on account of them holding Earth, which was still capable of producing vast goods.

As a result, to even the odds when they went to war against the Earth Federation for independence, the Principality of Zeon developed the Mobile Suit to help even the playing field. The reason they went with giant mechs was on account of one very important factor that made Mobile Suits feasible.

In this universe, there was a unique particle that disrupts low-frequency electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves and radio waves. Termed Minovsky particles on account of their discoverer, the Minovsky Physics Society, these particles also interfere with the operations of electronic circuitry. As a result, because of the way Minovsky particles react with other types of radiation, radar systems, and long-range wireless communication systems become useless, infra-red signals are diffracted and their accuracy decreases, and visible light is fogged. This became known as the "Minovsky Effect". This would result in things like guided missiles and radar-assisted weapons becoming obsolete as a military organization can simply launch a bomb filled with Minovsky particles and render such weapons ineffective. As a result, this would force engagements back towards visual engagement ranges, which give the Mobile Suit the conditions it needed to become the deciding factor of warfare.

Initially, the Earth Federation was skeptical of the capabilities of the Mobile Suit when they first heard about them. Finding them inefficient or useless in the face of a superior naval fleet. They had believed that, with a strong enough naval force of conventional battleships and fighters, the Principality of Zeon wouldn't dare face them. That theory sunk when the war between the Principality and the Earth Federation began and Mobile Suits began effectively eliminating the Earth Federation's space warships and fighters. After the Battle of Loum occurred, where the Earth Federation lost a significant portion of its Space Forces in that battle, the Earth Federation realized that Mobile Suits would be the key to winning the war. Thus, they commissioned something called Operation Victory, or Project V for short, as an effort to create Mobile Suits of their own as well as a warship capable of supporting Mobile Suits into battle.

Despite initial setbacks caused by a Zeon surprise attack, Operation V was a success in producing a warship and Mobile Suits worthy of the Earth Federation forces. In fact, that warship was the same one that was flying towards the Zeon base.

Sitting in the captain's chair of the warship, a young man in his late teens was staring out the windows of his ship, ready at a moment's notice for combat. The captain was a black-haired Earthborn man by the name of Bright Noa. A surprising revelation as one would think that such a vital ship would be given to an experienced captain.

Initially, it was, but a surprise attack from a Zeon Mobile Suit team in Side 7 cost the lives of most, if not all, of the senior personnel for the White Base, the name for this specific model of the Pegasus Assault Carrier, the Earth Federation first dedicated Mobile Suit carrier. As a result, Bright was promoted from being just a junior officer aboard the White Base to being the captain of the ship. The ignorant would call Bright fortunate or lucky. The wise would see it as a curse as an inexperienced junior officer was in charge of one of the most important vessels for the Earth Federation at the moment. And the fate of the war could very well depend on if the White Base and its cargo can survive long enough for the Earth Federation to acquire valuable Mobile Suit combat data that they can use to create mass-produced versions of their Project V prototypes. So, needless to say, a lot of pressure was on the young captain. Not helped by the fact that he was commanding a ship full of young, conscripted men and women that were still teenagers, another result of the attack on Side 7.

Fortunately, things have been smooth sailings for the White Base since they left Zeon-controlled territory some time ago. Since leaving the enemy territory, the White Base crew could afford to take scheduled breaks to help relieve tensions and stress amongst its crew. It was because of this that Bright allowed their top pilot, Amuro Ray, the pilot of their most powerful Mobile Suit, the RX-78-2 Gundam, to take one of their Mobile Suit modules and fly towards his hometown so he can visit his mother. Bright knew that Amuro was exhausted, as well as everyone else, after the nonstop fighting they suffered from Zeon-controlled territory, so he allowed this little leeway for him. Not only because he deserved it, but also because he felt that they can afford to do so. They weren't in Zeon territory anymore, after all, there was no need to be on constant alert, yes? Well, such small niceties shouldn't be expected in war.

Just half an hour ago, he received a transmission from Lieutenant Matilda Ajan of the Earth Federation supply corps. She had heard that the White Base was in the area and thus she requested their assistance in defeating a local Zeon base so that the supply corps can use their resources for the local Earth Federation forces as well as the supply corps. In addition, she also informed Bright that there was some important information she had for him that must be delivered, saying it came directly from Federation High Command. Hearing all this, Bright immediately ordered his crew assembled and combat ready while also ordering Sayla Mass, his comms operator to radio Amuro and inform him that he's needed back to the White Base immediately.

Thankfully, Amuro soon listened and informed Bright that he was returning back. What was surprising, however, was that, soon after that, he was bringing along help. When Sayla asked him what he meant by that, Amuro said that it be better that he showed them than explain it. He also said that they'll be following him in a large transport. Bright wasn't exactly pleased with that answer and would have ordered Sayla to contact Amuro again when she assured him that Amuro wouldn't have said something like that unless it was truly something they had to see if they wanted to believe him. Thus, Bright was forced to trust that Amuro knew what he was doing and that this wasn't some sort of Zeon trick. Granted, that was a bit farfetched considering where they were right now, but unforeseen circumstances is what led to the White Base being handled by teens and conscripts rather than a fully experienced crew of officers and soldiers.

Keeping himself calm as the White Base was making its way towards the Zeon base, he asked his radar operators, Marker Clan and Oscar Dublin, if there was anything on the White Base's scanners.

"There is, sir." Said Marker as he monitored their radar. "The Core Fighter is coming into visual range soon. However, there's something that's close by it." Upon hearing that, instinct told Bright to protect the Core Fighter and its pilot from the thing that was close to it, but he remembered that Amuro said that help will come in the form of transport close by him, thus he ordered the hanger bays open for them, albeit a bit reluctantly. After the order was sent, he told Sayla to inform Amuro that a security detail will be waiting for him in the right side hanger bay, the one that didn't contain their Mobile Suits. Much as he trusted and relied on Amuro for protecting the White Base, he didn't yet trust his judgment. He had proven time and time again that his judgment still requires work. He fails to understand the bigger picture of things and his teenage naivety has nearly gotten him and them in deep trouble in the past. For all he knew, these people who claimed to be of help could be Zeon sympathizers or agents that seek to learn more about the V Project prototypes. And he cannot allow that to happen. Hence, the extra caution. Of course, if they were skilled commandos, there wasn't much they can do against fully trained commandos other than hope to get lucky or scuttle the ship before they can capture it. Though if that happened, then the Earth Federation will lose the valuable combat data of their Mobile Suits and that would still be a major loss for the Earth Federation. Perhaps even end the war right there. So, he really hoped that Amuro wasn't bringing in Zeon sympathizers or commandos unintentionally.

A few minutes later, his orders were received and Ryu Jose, an actual military cadet, was waiting in the right side hanger bay of the White Base along with Bright and a few others. Soon the Core Fighter was within their peripheral vision along with the transport that Amuro claimed was filled with help from the refugee camp. Upon seeing the vessel, however, everyone was in shock at it.

Designed like a more advanced Federation airplane, the vessel that was following the Core Fighter was a massive plane-like ship with a machinegun mounted on its chin. Painted dark green, the large airplane was close to the Core Fighter as it landed on the right side hanger of the White Base. Slowing making its way to the hanger, the airplane landed inside the hanger, a few feet from the Core Fighter. Once it landed, it opened its rear hatch just as Ryu and Bright made their way towards the vehicle's rear. Aiming their guns at the rear hatch as it lowered, the two were prepared for a fight, but what they saw completely stupefied them. Standing in front of them was a massive man of a human, over seven feet tall, wearing a suit of armor that looked more advanced than anything in the Earth Federation arsenal. It even looked more advanced than anything created from Project V. They were so focused on the giant of a human being that they failed to notice the pale-skinned woman behind it until she popped her head out and waved nervously at them.

"Hello." Said Lilith nervously as she eyed the humans as she waved her hand. "I'm Lilith Clawthorne and this is my...associate." She then walked in front of Master Chief and spoke up, remembering how awful he was in conversation. During the ride here, she tried to make conversations with him, but all she got were brief answers and remarks from him. Even simple questions on where he came from, how is he, and what's his name were given either refusals to answer her questions or were brief one-word answers like fine or no. Honestly, he was a terrible person to start a conversation with. And though she didn't know much about her situation and where she was, Lilith knew that a good first impression was needed here if they wished to receive help from these people, who apparently opposed the soldiers that tried to capture her a few hours ago. And, honestly, this one was not capable of making a good first impression at all if her experience with him was any indication. "We're here to help you in your plight."

Her answer must have caused suspicion from the man in the tan uniform as he narrowed his eyes at her.

"And why exactly do you wish to help us?" Demanded Bright as he looked at the woman, who was taken aback a bit at just how young he was. She wasn't an expert on human biology, but she was certain that this human wasn't in his twenties yet. A surprise to her. In fact, looking at the big human besides the tanned uniformed one, that one looked even younger than the first human. Wondering what was going on, Lilith almost didn't hear Master Chief speak until he got in front of her.

"We were held captive by the Zeon base that you're going to." Said Master Chief as he looked at the two Federation soldiers. "We escaped, but we killed dozens of their soldiers while escaping. We also killed more when they sent an airship towards the refugee camp we were recovering in. So, between those two events, we're enemies with the Zeons. We're just a handful of people. If they dedicate themselves to hunting us down, they'll capture or kill us for sure. Which is why we're here. In exchange for protection and cooperation, we'll assist the Earth Federation in dealing with the Principality of Zeon." Upon hearing all that, Bright narrowed his eyes at that, but he looked intrigued by the offer.

"I see." Said Bright as he looked at the two, interested in the offer, but remaining cautious at all this. He and his crew could use all the help they can get, but that didn't mean he'll just blindly accept help from anyone not affiliated with the Earth Federation. For all, he knew they were Zeon spies or simple opportunists that will betray them the moment that it benefits them. And he can't afford either of those being present on his ship. Not when his ship's survival was vital to the war effort. Thinking about his situation at the moment, Bright needed more information about them before he could make his decision.

"Why were you held captive by the Principality of Zeon?" Asked Bright as more of his crew came towards him with firearms. Many of them were in shock and surprise at what they saw, some of them even grew nervous at seeing such a large being in front of them. "What did you do to cause such a thing to occur?" Upon hearing that, Chief spoke up.

"They wanted the technology we possess. If you want to proof, I have video recordings of our actions against the Zeons." Said Chief simply, knowing there was no point in hiding the truth from this man. It was fairly obvious to anyone with common sense or a brain that the suit of armor that Master Chief was wearing was more advanced than anything that the Zeons employed when he encountered them. Even this ship was primitive, from what he's seen of it, compared to his suit. Heck, even the Pelican, which was the outdated D77-TC Pelican dropship, was more advanced than anything he's seen from this alternative universe so far. So, theoretically, all he had to do was show some advanced piece of UNSC tech and everything will be fine. Yes? Technically yes, but Master Chief refused to do so.

UNSC protocol forbid the sharing of technology to outside organizations that weren't approved of by UNSC high command or the UEG, especially highly advanced technology like the armor of a Spartan. His military training and conditioning kicking in, Chief refused to take that option. Fortunately, there was another way to earn their trust and make them believe his claims. During his time fighting the Zeons, Joy had recorded everything he'd done since he woke up. She recorded everything from conversations to his firefights with the Zeon soldiers. That should provide sufficient evidence to these people that not only were the Zeons their mutual enemies, but also that he was telling the truth regarding the Zeons wanting their technology without showing any specifications of UNSC weapons or equipment.

Upon hearing that statement from a massive soldier, Bright just pursed his lips before looking at his fellow soldiers, seeing a few of them nervous at the thought of fighting just a big and intimidating figure, before sighing.

"Very well, if you can provide proof of the Zeons being after you, then I'll be willing to hear you out and let you stay here." Said Bright, steeling himself despite having fears of facing down this green armored soldier. "Until then, however, I'd ask you to stay here under observation. It's just a precaution, I assure you. We won't do anything to you or your ship. I promise as my word as the captain of this ship." Upon hearing that, Chief took a brief pause at seeing such a young person manning a ship before nodding in agreement, finding those terms agreeable, before speaking up.

"Agreed." Said Master Chief. "But, I must warn you, if anyone tampers with our ship, it won't end well for any of us." Upon hearing that, Bright narrowed his eyes at that.

"Is that a threat?" Asked Bright, knowing what it was, as he glared at the green armored warrior, standing his ground. A mistake on his part.

"Yes." Said Master Chief, staring down at Bright. The two engaged in a small stare-down, one that Bright was losing as one could see the sweat that was gathering around his forehead. Eventually, Bright conceded.

"Very well." Said Bright as he looked away from the Master Chief, feeling relieved upon doing so. That man. He had an aura of intimidation around him that just shut off Bright's courage, and helped with the faceless armor that he wore. Even now, Bright hoped that this man wasn't a Zeon spy because he wasn't sure if he can stomach the thought of seeing the green armored soldier go after him and his crew. That was…a terrifying thought. "I give you my word that my crew won't touch your ship in any shape or form. Any that do will be punished accordingly." Satisfied, Chief backed down while Lilith shuffled a bit nervously, not liking how he handled that. It reminded her too much of Belos, who used similar methods while she was employed under him. It was then that Fernando came out of the cockpit and saw what was going on.

Seeing Bright rubbing his forehead of sweat, caused Fernando to realize what went on and made him grateful that Chief was on his side.

"And these guys haven't seen the big guy in action." Thought Fernando as he walked towards Chief and Lilith, the latter unnerved Chief a bit. "If they're sweating just being around him, then they're in for a shock when they see him in action." Deciding to take over for the big guy, Fernando spoke up.

"So, I'm guessing we're all acquainted, yes?" Asked Fernando, drawing attention to himself. "If we are, can I ask that we be given a place to stay while we all get to know each other better? If that's fine with you." Looking at Fernando, Bright felt more at ease with talking with him than Master Chief. Thus, he spoke to him, feeling relieved at not talking with the green armored soldier more.

"We'll put you up with some vacant quarters." Said Bright as he looked at Fernando, still feeling the presence of Chief as he looked at his security detail, noting just how young they all are. Lilith also noted how young they were and had a real bad feeling growing inside her as she saw the number of young men around them. Surely the entire ship isn't full of young people. Right? "I'll have someone escort you shortly. Just…stay right there until I do." With that Bright left with one of his security guards, a dark-skinned man that was taller than the tan-outfit-wearing young man. As they left, Fernando looked at Chief and asked what he did to make the captain a sweating mess.

"Starred him down." Said Chief simply as he looked at the captain going up some stairs before slightly collapsing at them, noting just how sweaty his hair was. He then looked at the young soldiers before him, who all were nervously looking at him and sweating as well, fearful of him. Seeing this, Chief looked at Fernando and Lilith and told them to try and assure the ship's crew that they were friendly before going back inside the Pelican, believing that it would be better for them if he wasn't around to scare everyone with just his presence alone. Once Chief was inside the Pelican and closed the hanger doors, Lilith and Fernando looked at each other before looking at the kids with guns pointing at them, still scared and nervous at them, though considerably less so now that Chief wasn't around. Sighing a bit, Lilith gave an awkward smile before trying to calm down the crew of the ship she was now on.

Okay so someone has been asking that I should add Primal to this as well. The show made by Genndy Tartakovsky. I don't think I should, but what do you guys think. I'll be putting a poll up by the time this chapter is uploaded. Please vote there so we can decide this as a group.
