Chapter 29

Warmachine375- Nothing you said will ever be implemented into this story. Also no, on Amuro's Newtype powers being implemented yet. Like c'mon, those ideas are beyond silly and that's me putting it nicely. I'm not going to put an easter egg like that just because you think it would be neat and a call back to similar voice actors. Like c'mon, that's just dumb. To me anyway.

R reyes- No problem.

Bright Noa

White Base Bridge

"We really didn't need this right now." Said Bright as he saw what they were facing. A Zeon military base came into view and its defenses were firing at them at the moment. "Marker! What's the enemy's strength?"

"It seems to just be a small mining base, Bright." Said Marker as he looked at their radar. "Doesn't seem to have much beyond a few pillboxes and small arms defenses. No Mobile Suits from what I can see."

"That's a relief." Said Bright as he focused on what to do. Unfortunately, the base was in their way, and leaving it alone would just give the Zeons their general location. Meaning they'll send the Blue Giant and his unit after them as a result. Having interrogated their prisoner, Bright managed to learn that it was the Blue Giant himself that was leading a unit to not only avenge Garma Zabi but also destroy or capture the White Base for Zeon. Not only that but he had access to a brand new, mass-produced Mobile Suit called a Gouf to help in his mission. Zeon's replacement for the Zaku along with another one called a Dom.

Knowing the reputation of the Blue Giant and his skills in battle, Bright realized the situation that they were in currently. While the Blue Giant wasn't as feared as Char or other ace pilots of Zeon were, he still was a fearsome combatant and one with much experience under his belt. Not to mention he was an expert in guerrilla warfare even before the One-Year War began. He was certainly going to be a tough opponent to defeat. And to top it all off, Amuro was incapacitated at the moment.

Sighing as he tried to figure out a game plan with the resources at his disposal, Bright was about to make a plan when Sayla spoke to him.

"Sir, a message from the Chief." Said Sayla as she relayed what she just heard. "He and Lilith managed to fix Amuro's condition. It'll be some time before he can be ready for any real combat, but he's cured of the major issues he's had. For the lack of a better term." Upon hearing that, Bright gave a sigh of relief. That was some good news he needed. Now that Amuro was back in the fry, their chances of survival had just gone up a bit. Though he likely wasn't ready for combat now, just having him around and ready for a fight was enough to raise Bright's spirit. Taking a breath, he looked at Sayla and began spouting our orders.

"Sayla, have the Guntank and Guncannon be ready for a quick strike on the enemy communications and defenses. We need to prevent them from radioing Ramba Ral or other nearby Zeon forces of our general location." Ordered Bright. "Tell them that we're only fighting for three minutes at most so they have to focus their targets wisely. Any longer and we'll run the risk of encountering Zeon reinforcements that are nearby."

"Understood." Said Sayla before relaying the message to the people that needed to hear it.

"Bright, what about Amuro and the Gundam?" Asked Mirai as she looked at Bright from the ship controls. She had overheard that Amuro has recovered and while she was against sending Amuro into battle so soon, she wanted to know what Bright's plan was with Amuro and the Gundam.

"I want Gundam ready for battle, but I don't go it sent out yet." Said Bright. "Much as Amuro is the best pilot for it, we can't send him out when he's recovered from a traumatic event. I'm only going to do it if we have no choice. Until it's clear we have no choice but to send him and the Gundam, they're staying put."

"Understood." Said Mirai, feeling relieved at Bright's answer. As the bridge began scrambling to do Bright's orders or give targeting data to the gunners so they can fire back at the enemy accurately, Bright wondered how Amuro was doing.

Meanwhile
Lilith

"I'm sorry that I left." Said Lilith as Fraw Bow helped a groaning Amuro as he shook his head, a headache forming. "I didn't think that you needed to leave urgently so I…"

"Just don't make that same mistake again." Said Master Chief after he finished his call to Sayla concerning Amuro's status at the moment. Once he did he stopped Lilith before she can go on any further with her apology. "What you did was unnecessary and reckless. People could have died by your actions. Remember that the next time you make a decision while lives are at stake." Normally Lilith would have chaffed at being scolded by anyone, not of her family or she was close to, but the Master Chief had the right to be angry, or at least disappointed with how he sounded right now, with her.

Lilith, when she returned back to Amuro's room, found the alarm she left behind ringing madly, signaling that Fraw Bow and Chief needed to leave Amuro's mind quickly. Upon seeing this, she quickly recalled them back to the real world. When she saw them that they were safe and sound, though Fraw was a bit winded and scared, Lilith asked them what happened. After she did some magic and woke Amuro up of course.

The question caused the two to explain that Amuro's guardian tried to kill them right after they burned the memory that they needed to burn. Though they didn't try to reason with the guardian, Chief saw to that, they didn't do anything to provoke it and it tried to kill them anyway.

Lilith, upon hearing that explanation, told them that it was likely the memory guardian saw them as hostile to Amuro's health and tried to exterminate them. It wasn't a common scenario where the guardian would try to kill them after they destroy one memory, usually, they just demand the intruders explain their actions first. She supposed it was a result of Amuro's turbulent mind that caused the memory guardian to be so aggressive to even close friends to Amuro or acquaintances that he respected. After that theory explanation, Fraw Bow asked why it took so long for Lilith to respond. When Lilith explained to them that she left to speak with Fernando and Ryu, who were guarding their prisoner, Fraw Bow gasped in shock and Chief shook his head in disappointment at Lilith. That led to the scolding from Chief and what was happening right now.

"I apologize again." Said Lilith with a sigh as she looked at both Fraw Bow and Chief in regret. "It won't happen again." Chief just nodded before looking at Fraw Bow and Amuro, who were still holding their head in pain. Upon seeing this, Lilith used her magic to help alleviate the pressure on Amuro's head. "There, that should make that headache go away. How are you feeling now, Amuro?" Feeling his headache gone, Amuro looked at Lilith and spoke up.

"Fine." Said Amuro as he looked at everyone around him. "What are you guys doing in my room? Does Bright need me for something?" Upon hearing that question, Fraw Bow was about to speak up when Chief spoke first.

"Not at all." Said Chief, making up a story on the fly. "Fraw Bow was sent to check up on you when you overslept. Lilith and I were walking by when we noticed the door was open. We let ourselves in to see what was going on. Nothing more than that." Fraw Bow gave a brief glance at Chief at this fake story when Lilith gave her a look to go with it. She didn't tell her or Chief, but she had erased a few extra memories from Amuro's mind. Specifically everything related to the island and the aftermath of it. They'll have to spend some time making up some things. Some believable things lest those memories come springing up again and that wasn't something that they needed or Amuro in fact.

"Really?" Asked Amuro as he looked at everyone, now noticing the alarms blaring out. "Then how come the alarms are blaring out? Are we in the middle of a battle?!" Amuro was about to get out of bed when Chief stopped him, placing a hand firmly on his shoulder to prevent him from moving.

"No." Said Chief. "You're not participating in this battle. The situation doesn't require it. The enemy strength doesn't require Gundam."

"But…" Amuro was about to protest when Fraw Bow spoke.

"It's Bright's orders." Said Fraw Bow. "You were exhausted from training with the Master Chief. The training was a bit too extensive. To the point, you passed out from exhaustion in fact. Bright has you confined to your quarters until further notice."

"Really?" Asked Amuro in shock, stunned that he passed out from exhaustion. He looked at Chief, who just nodded. Upon seeing that, Amuro felt anger rising up in him, but it quickly faded away when he realized just how tired he was. His body felt so exhausted that he fell to his bed. "Man. I'm really worn out."

"And that's why Bright ordered you to remain until you're fully recovered." Said Lilith as she magically covered Amuro with his sheets and magically made him more susceptible to sleep. "Don't worry. Bright has already given a proper reparation for Chief."

"Somehow I doubt that." Said Amuro before dozing off to sleep, Lilith's magic taking full effect. With Amuro fully asleep, Lilith looked at Chief before responding.

"Thank you for taking the fall for that." Said Lilith before explaining everything. "After I pulled you two out, I also did some memory deleting of my own. It's memories specifically towards what we did today with the memory intrusion and the aftermath. That way, there won't be any conflicting memories in Amuro's head. Problems like that are very standard when it comes to erasing memories. If there are any memories that have any links or even potential links to the memory we erased, there could be a serious health and mental complications that will come to Amuro."

"Then we're not done." Said Chief as he looked at Lilith, who just shook her head.

"No, but I can deal with the rest by myself." Said Lilith with a confident smirk. "For a skilled Witch like myself, it'll be child's play to deal with the rest of the memories. Since you dealt with the main problem, the rest will be quite trivial for me to deal with. Of course, if you're interested in going back to help out, I'll be more than willing to have you help. Don't you fret, though, soon Amuro will no longer have the problems that prevent him from entering combat again that I assure you. Although that maybe isn't the right thing to say given he's a forced soldier in a way he didn't volunteer to." Chief and Fraw didn't say anything before leaving Lilith to do what she needed to do. As they left Amuro's room, Fraw Bow spoke to Chief.

"Thank you for doing this for Amuro, sir." Said Fraw Bow as she looked at Chief, who looked back. Although she was initially scared of Chief, after what she endured with Chief, she can say she was comfortable with him around. Just a bit. "I didn't want him to become an emotional wreck after what he endured on that island."

"No child or teen should suffer from what Amuro witnessed on that island." Said Master Chief. "I'll likely need to go back inside Amuro's mind so that whatever fake story we make for him doesn't break apart or conflict with what memories we don't tamper with, but so long as we don't face any major threats, it'll be fine. I'll go speak to Bright. Tell him the exact details of what's going on with Amuro. For you, go back to your friend. He may need you right now." Upon hearing that, Fraw Bow nodded before going back to Amuro's room. With that done, Master Chief went to go speak to Bright. Both to figure out what their current situation is and what the situation is regarding Amuro and what to do about it.

Meanwhile

Banished

Central Asia

"Spartan Killer. The convoy is approaching the ambush site." Said a fellow Sangheili as Jega 'Rdomnai spotted a human convoy approaching their ambush site. Seeing the size of the convoy, Jega let loose a feral smile. Or at least something akin to a smile given his jaw structure.

"Good. Prepare our new weapons. This will be an excellent test for them." Said Jega as he and the rest of the Banished troops awaited for the humans to come closer so they can spring their trap.
