Chance Meetings

Chapter 27

by Remtar85

"Say, Cee, what time is it?" Fang asked.

"It's well past midnight," Cecily replied after a quick side glance at the clock on the desk, while casually stroking Fang's bare chest.

"Shit. Time really does fly when you're having fun, huh?" Fang said with a sly smirk on his face. "And we sure had a lotta fun."

Fang and Cecily were currently lying together in the bed, which was a bit too small to hold them both, requiring them to be quite snuggled up, their wings wrapped around their shoulders to not take up any space while they rested. After Fang had given in to those animalistic urges and started making out with Cecily, it was inevitable for one thing to lead to another. Soon their clothes had been discarded and they became much more intimate. Both were quite grateful that, although not a big bed, the metal frame was sturdy enough to not break, for their love making had been more energetic than either one had expected it to be.

"That we did," Cecily said with a smile, nuzzling Fang's cheek. "For a moment, I even forgot you're human. You were quite the beast."

"I'm guessing this body comes with some serious animal instincts. That and being real damn pent up, no wonder I got so rowdy," Fang chuckled, a big hand stroking the gargoyle's back. "I hope I didn't hurt you, being your first time and all."

"Well, it did hurt a bit at first, but I got used to it. We gargoyles are tough, after all. And I hope I didn't end up hurting you either."

"Heh. No offense, Cee, but I actually thought you were gonna kill me," Fang told her with a smirk.

"I'm really sorry," Cecily apologized rather sheepishly. "I was told by a rookery sister that us female gargoyles can get... well, pretty grabby during climax."

"Guess that makes sense," Fang said, nodding his head. "You would've ripped my arms off if I hadn't grabbed you and pinned you down. Which, from the looks of it, you seemed to like."

Cecily chuckled. "I guess I did. Watching and feeling you show off your strength was pretty sexy."

"Hehe. With that and the whole grabby-during-climax thing, you're doing wonders for my male ego, sweetheart," Fang said with a smirk, growling playfully at her.

Cecily chuckled again, but then sighed, resting her head on Fang's shoulder. "Now I'll miss you even more when you eventually leave."

"Same here," Fang admitted, holding Cecily a little tighter. "You guys are cool, especially you. And this city's great, getting to be out in public and all. It's really damn tempting to wanna stay here."

"Indeed. Makes you wish you could have your son move here with you too, doesn't it? I'd like to meet him one day."

"And he'd like to meet you," Fang told her, stroking her long brown hair. "Danny really likes gargoyles, plus he'd probably get a kick out of it if he knew about you and me getting along this well."

"You're not going to go into explicit detail, are you?" she asked with a smirk on her face as she looked at him.

"Haha! Hell no. He's not even a teenager yet, that'd be too hardcore for him," Fang said, then winked at Cecily. "I might brag about having a long distance girlfriend, though."

"And to think you were like a shy schoolboy at the thought of a gargoyle liking you," she pointed out.

"What can I say? You're really good at making convincing arguments," Fang said with a satisfied grin. "Just hope we didn't make a scene downstairs with how noisy we were."

"I hope so too. This building was built to be very sturdy, but I'm not entirely sure how thick the walls are," Cecily admitted. "If we did make noticeable noise, as long as no customers heard us, it's fine."

"And what about Des?" Fang asked.

"If he did hear us, he probably had quite the smirk on his face and is hoping we tell him the juicy details," Cecily told him, then started getting up. "We should get dressed, though. I have to prepare for what I need your help with for the potions. If we don't do this, one of them will be useless."

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot about that," Fang said, following after her in fetching their clothes. "But what is it you need from me to make 'em work?"

"Your essence," she replied.

"My "essence"? Didn't you already get that from me?" he joked with a sleazy smirk on his face as he pulled on his pants. "Figures you'd want more of it, sweetheart. Rrrrrrr."

"Not like that, you pervert," she retorted, although she couldn't help but laugh at the joke as she got dressed. "I mean your essence as a mutate."

"So, like, my blood or something?" a confused Fang asked, as he started the process of putting his t-shirt on and having to deal with his wings.

"Not exactly," Cecily said as she finished putting on her garments and went to help Fang get his wings through the hole in the back of his t-shirt. "Most people don't realize, never even notice, but pretty much every living thing has an energy to them, an aura, that defines them. As the dominant species of the planet, getting human essence is easy, and I've already magically added it to the potion that will make you and the others human again."

"Ooooh, okay. That sorta makes sense... I guess," Fang said, his wings now fully through the hole on his t-shirt. "So, what you're saying is you need my mutant mojo to put in the other potion so I can go back to looking like this winged cat stud after I turn human?"

"Exactly," she confirmed, now moving to the bookshelf and taking a book from it. "I'll gather the magical energies of what makes you as you are now, a mutant, and instill it into the potion. It would also work for the others to turn them back into their current forms if they ever feel the need to. Which, from what you said, they probably won't, but one never knows."

"Alright then," Fang said. "But how are you gonna get it?"

"Just stand there and don't move," Cecily instructed as she found the page she needed on the book. "Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit."

As Fang stood there, Cecily started reading out loud from the book. The mutate did not understand a word of what Cecily was chanting, but he knew there was no doubt that a magic spell was taking place as she put her right hand out, still holding the book with her left as she read from it. A white glow surrounded her right hand, and the same glow surrounded Fang himself. The mutate looked at it with curiosity, wondering what was happening. The glow from Fang then started transferring from around him and onto Cecily's hand as she kept chanting. Finally there was no more glow around the cougar-man, all of it having gone to Cecily's hand, who then walked over to one of the cauldrons, and with one more chant, she extended her hand over it, the glow falling from her hand to the cauldron as though it were an actual object, dissipating in the potion.

"There, all done," she said.

"Wait, that's it?" a confused mutate asked.

Cecily smirked as she closed the book and put it away. "Were you expecting anything else?"

"I dunno. Just thought it'd be something more outrageous," Fang admitted. "You sure you didn't just snatch my soul out of me?"

"If I had, you'd be dead, you doofus," she pointed out. "That is all I needed from you then. The potions should be ready the night after tomorrow. I'll make sure to bottle them and pack them in a compact and safe container that you can take with you easily."

"Thanks, Cee, you're the best," Fang said, reaching over and pulling her into a hug.

"Happy to help, Fang," she said, hugging him too. "Though I should warn you right now. From everything I've read and been told regarding transmogrification potions, the actual transformations will hurt."

"Wait, hurt?" Fang asked, backing up a bit from the hug so he could look Cecily in the face.

"Yes, unfortunately." she said sheepishly. "Your body will be changing to something new, essentially, and that does not come pain free. But the pain lasts only a moment, so hopefully it's not a deterrent for you to use the potions."

Fang absorbed this new information with apprehension. He remembered when he first mutated, how badly it had hurt, and for hours at that. He had seen it happen to Claw, then to Maggie and Talon as well, having witnessed how it hurt for them too, and he even thought of Demona's transformation from gargoyle to human and vice-versa. The prospect of pain was certainly one he wasn't keen on, but he reminded himself how useful these potions could be for him, and how much effort Cecily had put into making them for him despite the fact that she shouldn't as per the store's rules. He figured that enduring a moment of pain was well worth it.

"Don't worry, Cee, I'm a tough guy," Fang said with a smile, flexing his arms to show off. "I can handle a little pain."

Cecily smiled at this, looking relieved that he accepted her gift despite the warning of the side effect. "I bet you can, tough guy. We should head downstairs, then, it's getting late."

"Yeah, it is. I oughta get going back soon," he said.

"And maybe we can have more fun next evening, hmm?" she asked in a coy voice.

"Hehehe. I love the way you think, darling," Fang told her, giving her a quick kiss.

The two then took a brush she had and gave one another a proper fur brushing, as their romp had left their fur looking a touch messy and disheveled. Once they were finished looking more presentable, they exited the room, heading downstairs and into the shop. It was currently empty, save for Desmond, who was reading a book, but as soon as he saw his rookery sister and the mutate appear through the now open bookshelf door, he grinned in a way that told both Fang and Cecily that he knew exactly what had happened up there.

"Welcome back," he greeted them, then his gaze fixated on Fang. "I see that your talk with my rookery sister was a resounding success."

"Yeah, guess you could say that," Fang said, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "So, uh... how much did you hear?"

"Not the talk per se, but I did hear the rest," Desmond confirmed. "Very enthusiastic. Thank goodness it's been a slow night due to the rain; nobody else was here to listen to that ruckus."

"Aw, geez," Fang grumbled. "Please tell me not all gargoyles are this open about this kind of talk."

"Maybe, maybe not," Cecily teased the mutate. "I guess you'll have to spend a little more time with us to find out if gargoyles are all as curious as Desmond here."

"Some would say I'm an incorrigible gossip, Cecily calls it simple curiosity," Desmond said, closing the book and setting it aside. "One of the many reasons she's my best friend, my partner in crime, and I adore her."

"You're a couple of weirdos," Fang told them, then he shook his head and chuckled. "And I guess now I'm the third leg on the weirdo stool."

"And we welcome you wholeheartedly, fellow weirdo," Desmond said to the mutate.

"If there's anything you guys've done more than plenty, it's making me feel welcome," Fang told the two gargoyles with a genuine smile. "Damn, I'm really gonna miss you guys when I leave. Just hope I can get to come back here and visit you again somehow."

"We hope you can too," Cecily said to him while giving him a hug. "And we can give you our store's phone number, so we can keep in touch."

"I'd like that," Fang said, then sighed as he saw through the shop's window that it was still raining outside, rather heavily at that. "I should get going, though, it's seriously pouring out there. I better fly back to the hotel as fast as I can and jump into a hot shower before I catch pneumonia."

"Right. We wouldn't want you getting sick on your last few days here," Cecily said.

"Because it would lead to an acute case of coitus interruptus for you both?" Desmond remarked with a knowing smirk.

"Desmond!" Cecily exclaimed with a laugh.

"Seriously, man, you're way too interested in your sister's newfound sex life," Fang said to the male gargoyle. "Not to mention mine too. Is that normal?"

"You'll learn there aren't very many secrets in a gargoyle clan, Fang, even with Cecily and I trying to keep your new secret secure. But very well, then. I shall endeavor to contain my devious side," Desmond said with a chuckle.

"Don't mind him, he's just teasing you," Cecily told the mutate.

"Indeed I am, and it's just so much fun," Desmond admitted with a big grin.

"Okay, to be fair, I'm kinda sorta dating his little sister," Fang pointed out. "He'd either be teasing me or trying to strangle me, so yeah, I'll take the teasing. Anyway, I oughta go. I'll catch you both tomorrow night."

"We'll be expecting you," Cecily said, giving Fang a hug, the mutate hugging her back.

"Oh, she certainly will," Desmond added teasingly. "Take care, my friend."

"You too. See ya," Fang bid the gargoyles farewell, then he walked to the door, opened it and closed it quickly behind him after exiting, running quickly to leap into the rainy skies. And once he was gone, Cecily nonchalantly gave Desmond a punch in the arm.

"Ow!" he cried out, but immediately laughed afterwards, rubbing his arm. "Hahaha! My, was I that bad?"

"Unusually so," she replied. "You've never been so crude, it's very out of character for you. What's going on that's making you act like this?"

Desmond sighed and smiled rather sheepishly. "The reason I'm being so crass and uncouth about you and Fang is because I'm looking out for you, Cecily. We both like Fang as a friend, but still, I simply want to make sure that things work out well between you both while he's here, and that he's not just trying to take advantage of your infatuation for him. Thankfully, it seems like he truly and genuinely likes you."

Cecily looked both touched and flattered. "Desmond, that's very sweet of you. But you should have told me from the start."

"I thought it would work best if I was unpredictable and spontaneous about it," Desmond explained his reasoning, then grinned. "And I admit, making Fang squirm is quite amusing."

"You're a jerk," Cecily said to her rookery brother, but did so with a good natured and affectionate smile and chuckle. "So, you were saying about wanting to know all the details of what we did up there?"

"Oh, no need for that," he said with a casual smile of his own. "I heard what you were doing, remember? My imagination will fill in the blanks. I'm more curious as to the other little secret you're keeping from Una and Leo. A spell or potion, right?"

"Yes. Two potions, in fact," she confirmed. "Transmogrification. One will allow Fang and his fellow mutants to return back to normal human form. The other will allow Fang to return to being a mutant, since he's made it clear he prefers that form."

"Transmogrification? My word, you're really breaking the rules for Fang," Desmond said, looking surprised. "Between that and what happened up in that room, I'd think you would even consider him a suitable choice for a mate."

"You're reading too much into it, Desmond," she said with a small smirk. "Yes, I do like him, and what we did was very enjoyable. But the potions, I feel it's something he and the others really need, and I'd feel bad if I didn't do anything to help them. The other mutants can have their old lives back, or at least have the opportunity to try, and Fang can spend more time with his son. And I can maybe send him more potions in the future so he can continue to do so, be able to go out with his son in public and take him many places."

"I see. That is a very kind gesture, Cecily," Desmond said with a proud smile. "So I'll fully support it and keep the secret."

"Thank you," Cecily said, now hugging the older gargoyle. "You're the best rookery brother."

"How could I be anything less to you, my dear?" he told her affectionately, hugging her as well.

To Be Continued...

Author's Extra Note: Hello everyone. It's been very rough lately, as my mother had an accident, a bad fall, which led to two broken bones in her left arm. So I've been doing all I can to help her with everything until her arm heals, which also means that that's eating a lot of my writing time, as I'm essentially busy and on call all day, and my only time off is when Mom is sleeping. Even more so now that my Mom just had an operation to help her out with it, and is now in even more pain and needs more of my help, I have to sleep in her bedroom now, and I am very stressed and feeling helpless in how I can't do anything to take away that pain she's feeling. I'm managing to write bit by bit when I can and managed to finish this chapter. I know this one was basically just filler, but I just wanted to show Fang's sweeter side and let him get lucky with a lady, made ironic in having the lady be a gargoyle, and now there's also the potential of those potions for the future of the story. Next chapter returns to Manhattan, where Claw and Talon are going to have a serious talk. Thanks for reading!
