Chapter 2: Pools of Reality
Mabel woke up. "Mabel woke up. "Guess it wasn't a dream." She said, looking around and noticing how she was in the nice frog people's the basement.
"Hey, Mabel, how did you sleep?" Polly asked, they survive one night together, so she probably wasn't a threat.
Mabel tried to hide her discomfort, "Good despite everything."
"Come, let's get breakfast, Hop Pop is making pancakes."
Mabel smiled, "Nice, I love pancakes."
Polly hoped off leading Mable to the dining room, "This is the dining room, and five feet to the right is the kitchen." She said.
Mable giggled at Polly's antics. "Thanks for the tour."
"Not much here, honestly." She said, getting ready for breakfast.
"Still nice. Reminds me of home." Remind her of what she thought the Mystery Shack would be at first.
"You a farmer?" Polly asked, she didn't seem like a country girl.
"No, but I spent last summer with my Grunkles, and they own a place in the woods."
"You're going to have to tell me about it."
"Of course!" She began her tale. Telling of the Gnomes, the puppet show, her many crushes, and the battle with Bill.
"Wow… you have lived an interesting life."
"That was Frog-darned amazing." The Plantar boy announced.
"Haha, thanks." This made the human feel special and forget about her situation.
"Not much happens around wartwood. Other than the occasional giant bug attack."
"Giant bug?!" That wasn't going to be a one time thing.
"Yes, like the one we fought yesterday."
"I was hoping that thing was one of a kind."
"No, heck we get around on a giant snail. Her name is Bessie."
"I wanna see it! I wanna see it!" Mable's excitement was felt over the room.
"Sure, she is in the barn." Polly stomach grumbles. "But we probably should eat first."
"I am a little hungry, so that is a good idea."
Polly happily devoured her breakfast the same way a predator would a helpless prey. Mabel did the same. Wanting to fit in. And also because she was starving.
Polly finished. "Come along." She said happily leaping the other girl to the barn. "You came just in time, she just got over a one week cold so should be full of energy."
"Woahhhhh! She's purple!"
"Yes yes she is. Don't let the shell fool you, she is a speed demon."
"For real?" It was hard for Mable to believe snails were fast.
"Yes, she just needs a good driver behind the reins."
"I wanna ride her!"
"Let's talk with Hop Pop about it."
"Ok," she agreed, giddy at the thought.
"Hey Hop Pop, Mabel wants to go for a drive." Polly said.
"Pleaase!" Mabel begged.
"No way, listen Mabel you're a new, unsettling, strange, bizarre, gangly, horrifying-"
"I am adorable!"
"Well the local frogs are small minded, and we need to wait for them to get comfortable with you. So that means no leaving the property until I say so."
"But but but!"
"No buts missy, that includes yours to not to leave this property."
"Awww…" Mable whined.
"What about the pond in the back, it's on the property." Polly stated.
"Well technically yes but..."
"Loophole found!" Polly said quickly.
"Yes! Polly you're like the greatest!" Mabel cheered.
"Okay, but you better not leave the farm you hear."
Mabel and Polly had already run off. Polly waited for Mabel to change. She came out in a frilly rainbow swimsuit.
"That's a pretty outfit. Then again as a Polly I get to go swimming naked." She said.
"Thanks buddy!" Mable said, Ignoring the last part of the sentence.
"Last one in is as dumb as Sprig."
They both jumped in at the same time.
"This is great."
"Ya we are! High five!" Mabel extended her hand upwards.
She looked at her flipper but high five her anyways.
"This is awesome!"
"Want to see how long I can hold my breath?"
"Absolutely!" This would be so much fun.
Polly went down, she could breath under water so not much to worry about.
"So cool! I didn't realize how awesome you frogs are."
"I know, I am amazing." Polly said after emerging from the water.
"I can do this," Mable flipped her eyelids.
"You're a real oddball, you know that?"
"I'll take that as a compliment!"
"Anytime." Polly said, happily swimming, making a spit fountain that looks like a water gun.
"You're a pokemon!"
"That reference means nothing to me."
"Trust me, it's a good thing."
"Thank you, I guess you make a good pokerman as well."
She hugged her new housemate. "So cute!"
"I need air." Polly said, as Mabel was too tight grip.
"Now I'll try holding my breath~" She dived down.
"You go girl."
Some bubbles appear right above where she was at the moment.
Polly watched Mable, although notice she was starting to go in for a minute or two, then three, and four. Hop Pop told her once that mammals didn't last long, "Maybe I should check on her."
Mabel was missing. This wasn't good.
She started to swim around trying to find her. As she swam there was a large shadow in the water. She dodge trying to find Mabel, sadly she couldn't stop it from trying to attack her.
This causes Polly to swim to the surface, as the thing follows behind her. Polly started to breathe faster and faster. As the creature move to reveal that it was a River Lamprey, and it was dragging Mabel's unconscious body behind it.
"Come on Polly you have to be the responsible one here, you can do it." She told herself rushing to save her new friend. She grabbed Mable's larger hand, and rushed her to air. Sighing a bit when her friend gasped for breath.
"You're alive." She said, trying to get to land but the eels weren't so accommodating. "Well for now at least."
"Urg!" Mable coughed up water. Needing Polly to help push her out of one of the Eels path, "Thanks."
"No problem. I'll try, woah." She said pushing the two of them out of the bite range of one of them yet again. "We need to find a way to get those things on ground level if we want to escape."
"Let's try some driftwood!"
"There are some but it is so flimsy we need to act fast."
Mabel started gathering any piece of driftwood, needing to stay above water.
"Do you got any ideas? Because Hop Pop is old, and Sprig is in his own word, so it just us sister."
"We can use your water gun attack!"
"How so?" She never had a reason to go on the attack with it before.
"To knock it away"
"I'll try." This was a lot of responsibility for a baby to deal with.
The monster was able to withstand the attack without moving.
"Give me a second and I'll try it again." She said sucking up water.
"You got this!" Mable tried feeding her water to help. Her life was in Polly's tiny little throat. Polly trying to take in more water. As the Lamprey was circling them, Polly nearly choked. This lead to one of the Eels to leap out, and cause Polly to let go of the water. She sucks it up again, and sucks up all, and manages to let loose a massive blast of spit and water. She sent the water beast flying this time.
"Team rocket blasting off!" Mabel joked.
"What a rocket?" She asked.
"Long story."
"Well Hop Pop can use those eel's for Fertilizer."
"That is creative." Mable replied.
"Think we should play a game in the house?"
"Sure, hey Polly you know what we need?"
"What, Mabel?" She asked.
"We need a catchphrase for just the two of us."
"Sure like what?"
"Pabel forever?" Mable suggested.
"Nay."
"Pintar rules the world."
"Less evil this time."
"I give up, Mable."
"I know, 'Molly for life'." Mabel said.
"I love it! But we probably should get on land."
"I think that's a good idea."
They happily swam to shore and slipped back into the house. Hop Pop was sleeping. "Aww man we totally could have snuck out." Polly proclaimed.
"Shucks!" Mabel said, just enjoying the day.
"Probably more work dealing with two disasters in one day."
"Haha probably. But thanks for the fun time out."
"Anytime, it's been too long since I last had a swim."
"Why is that?" Mabel asked, tilting her head slightly.
"I been busy lately."
"But you're a baby?" Didn't they have laws against child labor here. Probably not but Mabel didn't know that.
"That farm life for you."
"What do you do?" Despite how strong she acted, she couldn't have lifted all that such could she?
"Mainly pulled the smaller plants."
"Do you like to?"
"I'm a farm girl, you have to get dirty."
"I guess so." Mabel wasn't convinced but Hop Pop had earned more from her than the benefit of the doubt.
"You'll probably get used to it." Polly said.
"I hope not."
She shrugs and started to play board games with her new friend joins in.
When Hop Pop woke up he went to see how the two were doing. "Oh good, you're both alive."
"Of course we are, we're big girls," Polly said proudly.
"I guess so." He was relieved.
"Come on, winner winner critter dinner." Mabel laughed, as Polly spoke…
"Winner gets Sprig's first born."

Embrace the nonsense.
My response: Thank you, I think I might have to.
gunmanchapter 1 .Jan 31 Not bad.
Mabel is going to another world and meets Frog people.
Sounds typical of Gravity Falls show.
Kinda cutsey for my taste, this Amphibia show. But Gravity Falls I know better.
Good luck with this.
Write on.
My Response: Thanks buddy, and this time she can't find her brother to help keep her grounded. I wouldn't call it typical. It may look cutesy but Amphibia have a bit of a dark side. Your appreicated is great.
