Twins in Dual worlds chapter 3. Broken together.

A few days later, the group was having breakfast.

"So, got any plans today Mabel?"

"Still hoping to find a way home." She said, wondering how things were on Earth.

"Didn't you say Grunkle…Ford did something similar to your situation?" Polly said, not entirely sure about the name.

"Ya. But he, Umm, never got himself home." Mabel knew that he had help from his brother.

"Don't worry you seems tough, you can do it." Polly comforted her.

"I hope so. I don't want to be stuck here for 50 years. There are so many sweaters to be made."

Polly then added, "It won't be so bad while you're here."

"But I miss my home." Mable said, trying to distract herself with her sweater sleeve.

She patted her leg. "We got this."

"Thank you," Mable smiled.

"Welcome, hey, look, food."

The three children started to chant, "TIME TO EAT! TIME TO EAT! TIME TO EAT!"

"To eat!" Mabel exclaimed.

Hop Pop heard the chanting and came with pancakes.

Sprig yelled out, "Yes!"

"Here you go, Pill but pancakes."

"Ewwww! That's gross!"

"What is the food not good enough for the princess?"

"Bugs aren't human food!"

"Well, what is human food?" They might be able to go along with it if she can convince him.

She described it for him. Mostly candies.

"That sounds very unhealthy." He made sure his grandchildren had the healthiest of food, they would need them here.

"Nah, it is fine," Mabel said dismissively, as Hop Pop wasn't convinced of Mabel's talk of human food. "Sugar is so good."

"Well, remember to eat your breakfast." He had the feeling he might not be able to find the food she wanted.

"Awwwwwww…" Mabel groaned.

"It is for your own good."

"Nooooooo!" She said, throwing her head back in response as she yelled.

"Dramatic much?"

"And he's a theater major, he knows drama," Polly stated.

"But it's bugs!" Mabel whined.

"I don't see the problem," Polly said, happily eating some.

"They're soooo gross."

"How so?" Polly asked, tilting her body.

"They're crunchy and squishier."

"That just means they're well seasons." Sprig said.

"Wwww!" She whined. "They'll get stuck in my braces!"

"I'll see what I can do you, your metal teeth things."

"Thank you. They're to fix my teeth." She said, showing them off.

"How did they break?" Sprig asked, he had never seen anything like it before.

"They didn't break, they came in crooked." She felt jealous that her bro had perfect teeth.

Sprig smiled, "That is interesting."

"My twin was lucky. His teeth came in perfect. I am not jealous at all." She lied.

"I'll fix it for you. Both of you will have matching teeth." She said Polly, as she pulled out a hammer.

"Polly, no." Hop Pop told his granddaughter.

"POLLY, YES!"

Mabel then spoke, "There is no need to do that."

"Well, it's only fair we make his teeth crocked." Polly justified herself.

"Err, no."

"Kill joy. You kill all of my joy."

"There there," she patted her back.

"So, any plans for tonight?" Polly asked her

"I'm not sure, to be honest," Mabel answered.

"We can find a way. Us Plantars always do."

"I just want to go home to Earth."

"We will help when we can," Polly said, trying to comfort the older girl.

"Who do we even go to?" She exclaimed. Starting to pace.

"I heard rumors about all sorts of weird stuff at Newtopia," Polly said. "Sprig heard the same rumors."

"It's true I did."

"Well, either way, it is the place we can't go to until the path is clear after winter."

"And how far away is that?" Mable asked. Freaking out. Not paying attention and…

Trip!

Snap!

Sprig wasn't paying attention until he heard the snap. "What was that?"

"My cane."

"I am so sorry!" Mabel wasn't usually a troublemaker.

"Mabel pines, you are in so much trouble, go to your room while I think of an appropriate punishment."

She ran off crying.

Polly hopped over to her, "There there."

When he notice Hop pop left the room. "I got an idea."

"What?" Her voice had hope in it.

"Hop Pop is kinda old, if we fix his cane, we can trick him into believing it was never broken."

"Ok! Let's do it! Let's go Gaslight an old man! Why does that sound so bad."

She explain that meant while they try to use some of the stuff they were saving for dinner as glue, but it didn't work.

"Isn't their glue in this world?" Mabel cried out.

"Yeah, Loggle sell some at the wood smithing shop."

"Then let's get that. I'm great at arts and crafts!" She could have fun with this.

They went on their mission to gaslight an old man.

She smiled as they arrived, this was her first trip through the town, really.

"Sprig, Polly, a hideous monster has managed to follow you into the store again." He warned.

"I'm adorable!"

"She is with us." Polly waved him off, "Got any glue?"

"Plenty," Loggle said with a smile on his face.

Mabel explained the situation to him. Making sure to be extra pitiful.

"Sounds horrible, what kind of glue do you want?" The woodsmith asked.

"I'm not sure what will work best?" She answered honestly to the store owner.

"Well, this is Snake glue, made from the venom of a giant water snake, it positively, absolutely should...n't shouldn't be used on that cane."

"What about this glue?" Polly said, grabbing a tub of some glue.

"That is snail shell glue, that glue is, without a doubt, the type of clue you can...not use."

"Why are you talking like that?" Mabel was genuinely curious about all this.

"Old smithing accident. You don't want to know"

Mabel spoke, "Ok-ay."

"Tripped on an anvil. Landed neck-first on a metal pipe. Pierced my voice box clean through!" he said, showing off the wound.

"Ahhh!" Mabel and Sprig said in unison.

"Cool!" Polly said, to the other two's confusion.

Mabel tries to get back on the subject, "So, Umm, glue?"

"OH, right, Let's see if there is any glue I have that actually works on it."

"Thank you. How long should that take."

ONE HOUR LATER…

"Here you go, snail droppings, the only type of glue that can be used on your cane with...out damaging it."

"Yes!" She grabbed it and ran out.

Sprig spoke, "Strange, I half expected to have to fight a giant bug."

"Don't jinx us, bro."

"Come on, everyone!" Mabel said, taking the lead.

The two frogs happily follow her. Mabel got to work on fixing the cane.

"Is it working? Is it working? Is it working?" The youngest of the trio said.

"It is slow going, Polly," Mable said, rotating one part of the cane.

"Let me help," Polly said, helping to stabilize the cane.

"Thank you."

"Anytime, Mabel."

So, between the two of them were able to repair it, while Sprig watch the door.

"WE did it." Sprig said.

"Yes, 'we' did, Sprig," Polly said, voice traced with sarcasm.

"Now, what to say to Hop Pop?" Mabel asked, hoping to get out of trouble for this.

"He is old pretend it's not broken, of course." Polly schemed.

"Ok…" she was hoping this would work.

Hoppop came in much better now that he got a nap in. The group pretended they were just playing a board game.

"So I've been thinking, kids."

"What about?" Mabel wondered if it involved her.

"I decided to have you on dish duty for a month, but since you did fix my cane, a week."

"Hey! You two said he wouldn't remember!" Mabel will remember this.

"We said he probably wouldn't remember." Polly corrected.

"Booooooo." Pouting afterward.

"I do appreciate the work, though." Even if Mabel was still so upset about being punished. "I do appreciate you fixing your mistake. Something these two could do a bit more often."

"Hey," Polly said, while Sprig just accepted the criticism.

"Thank you," Mabel said, even if she didn't believe she deserve to be punished.

To be continue…
