Twins missing in Dual worlds chapter 21: Please stop dancing.

Hop Pop was happily selling his veggies while the kids advertised in front of him. With Mabel was trying to attract customers by juggling fruit… and Polly.

"I did not consent to this!" Polly shouted as she got thrown in the air.

"Sorry! But, you're fruit shaped!" Mabel pointed out.

"I don't see anything wrong." Sprig added

"Exactly!" Mabel laughed.

"Hey is that, Felicia?" Sprig leaned over to see. "Oh and she's with Sylvia! Felicia mother, and Ivy grandmother."

"I'm going to say hi." Mabel said before skipping over.

"Hello sweetie." The kindly old lady said. She was old, with long white hair. She wore blue-brimmed glasses, a pink sleeveless dress, and a red flower in her collar. "You're new around here."

"Sylvia?" Hop Pop asked, blushing.

"Oooooh!" Mabel cheered internally at this

"Hopediah Plantar, it been two or three months now?" Sylvia asked.

"Oh Umm yes I supposed it has been two months and 12 days."

"Counting down the days?" Polly looked at him oddly.

"He must like her!" Mabel whispered.

"Oh you sweet potato." Sylvia laughed.

"I uhh... I thought you had moved away."

"Yep, but I'm back in town. Now, let's take a look at your veggies." She looked over his stand. "Oh, I'll take this one. I've always had a soft spot for the weird ones." She grabbed a potato that looked like Anne weirdly enough before turning and waving him off. "Well, I better be going. Goodbye, Hoppy."

"Goodbye, Sylvia. " Hop Pop shuttered.

Mabel went to him. "You like her!"

"Huh?"

"We saw you give him the doe eyes." Polly said.

"Dude, ask her out!" Mabel went.

"I was starting to think he would never find someone else." Polly bemoaned.

"Am not." He glanced at her. "Okay maybe a little."

"Awwww!" Mabel squealed in joy, it was time to play matchmaker.

"She's pretty great. If only I could ask her out."

"Well then why don't you, silly?" Mabel went.

"You saw how I got with her. I have a hard time even coming up with words around her. If there was only another way to express myself to her."

"Well, that sounds impossible." Sprig shrugged

"Dance Fever! With family fun, shenanigans! Romance! Tonight from 6:00 p.m. till...Hmmmmm?"

"That would probably be useful for something. Not sure what." Hop Pop rubbed his chin.

"Been a long time since I've danced with someone. Might be nice to feel the embrace of a man." Sylvia said, she was a bit lonely.

"Mom!" Felicia shouted

"Ha-ha! Classic, gullible Hopadiah!" An old frog similar to Hop Pop but wearing a newer hat and with more hair gave him a slap on the back.

"Oh hey Monroe." Hop Pop grimaced.

"Who is this guy?" Mabel raised an eyebrow.

Sprig explained it, "That's Monroe. Hop Pop and him are mortal enemies."

"They do a lot of old people stuff, bingo, shuffle board, who can get water without breaking their hips… and Hop Pop always loses."

Monroe laughed "You're not seriously thinking of going, are you? Wouldn't want to embarrass yourself like last year. Haha! See ya old timer

"Oh, we'll see about that, Monroe. We'll see."

At the farm:

Hop Pop held up a broom. "Can't dance, huh? We'll see about that. Looks easy enough. Sorry, Sylvia. And a-one, and a-two and-" He held a mop as of if it were a lady… and then fell over and broke it. "Looks like it's hopeless." in that moment, music filled the air, prompting him to get up. "What's going on over there?" He saw Mabel… dancing. "Mabel! You can dance?!"

"You bet!" Mabel started to do just that.

"Can you help me?" Hop Pop begged.

"I will help you find love!" She would make love happen.

"Thank you, I can't tell Sylvia how I feel but maybe I can express myself through dance, to show what I can't say." He continued.

"That's what dancing is all about!"

"And hey, um, think we could keep this just between us?"

"Sureee."

Five minutes later:

"We totally know." Sprig quipped.

"Shake that booty Hop Pop." Polly cheered.

"It's my own fault for thinking you could keep a secret." Hop Pop shook his head.

"Sorry hop pop…" Mabel sheepishly smiled

"Anyways where so we start?"

"Let's start at the basics. Finding music that speaks to your heart," she turned on her portable radio.

And after a few minutes and a dozen different styles…

"Make it stop!" Polly yelled while covering her ears

Mabel just laughed. "Be nice. He's having fun."

"I've gone blind." Sprig wandered around with his arms outstretched.

"Don't listen to them, Hop Pop. Let's try 80's music!"

"You've got the feelin', you're makin' the dealin', when others are runnin' you standin' tall, when you're fightin' you're the greatest of them all!" The radio sung out, prompting Mabel to start dancing and Hop Pop to follow her.

Mabel laughed. "Don't just copy me. Move in a way that feels right."

He tried, flailing his arms and tongue around in reply

"I think my vision is coming back…" He rubbed his eyes, only for Hop Pop to come into view. "Oh my frog! Oh no… not again!" Sprig covered his eyes.

Mabel high fived hop pop.

"If you need me, I'll be throwing up." Polly hopped away.

"Oh, don't be dramatic!" Mabel chided.

"How are you immune?" Sprig asked.

"My grunkle." She shivered

"Oh…" He turned away before taking his hands off.

"Yeah he has some crazy moves!"

"We can't afford to get him condemn to an insane asylum." He continued.

His sister added, "But it's not a bad idea!"

"Come on its not that bad!" Mabel shook her head.

"Can you at least try to give him some of your dance moves?!" Sprig fell to his knees and raised his hands in begging.

Mabel thought of the idea for a moment and sighed. "Fine"

"Thank you." Polly said, pain in her voice.

"This is almost as bad as Polly's singing." Sprig quipped.

"Sprig, be nice!" Mabel wiggled her finger at him.

"I have a great singing voice!" Polly shouted.

"Oh Polly," She hugged her.

"Let's focus on getting Hop Pop to dance." Sprig went.

"Good idea!" Mabel nodded.

Later…

After a hard day of work, Mabel had taught Hop pop disco… at least.

"Excited for the party?" Hop Pop asked.

"Oh boy am I!" Mabel cheered.

"We can go get free food there too!"

"Yay free food!" Mabel threw her hands up in excitement.

"Free food is the best." Polly added.

"I am sure you will do well tonight." Sprig forced a smile.

"We're rooting for you, Hop Pop!" Mabel cheered.

And so, Mabel got dressed up in an 80s inspired outfit and her tortilla chip shaped earrings.

"You're good at making those." Polly pointed out.

"Thanks! I wanna be a fashion designer when I grow up!"

"You'd be great!"

"Thank you Polly."

"Anytime."

Later… They arrived at the party

"This place sure seems exciting." Sprig said.

"You should totally dance with Ivy." Mabel nudged him.

"I guess that'd be fine."

Mabel hooted, "You go get them, player."

"Looks like this is a dance completion for the elderly." Polly said.

Mabel shrugged. "Well I mean, the elderly need something to do."

Sprig then asked, "Why is the elderly contest so early anyway?"

"Some of these guys are in their 80s and 90s, It is probably for the best not to wait until the end of the night." Polly shrugged too.

"Look, Monroe is coming to the dance floor." Sprig pointing at the old frog.

"I still don't remember ever seeing him before today."

"Mabel, it is a small town but a lot of people in it somehow."

"Strange town."

"Says the mammal." Polly shook her head.

They watched the dance. Hop Pop started by doing a simple ballroom shuffle, moving his feet left and right, then repeating the motion in reverse.

Monroe in turn, moved his arms in a waving mother back and forth, crisscrossing his legs as he moved smoothly.

Hop Pop then jumped on the floor, throwing his legs up, and then his pelvis, then torso, and head.

Monroe leapt off his feet, landed on one hand, then leapt to his other, before landing on both feet.

"Come on Hop pop, get in there." Mabel shouted.

He tried to copy what Mabel showed him but he just couldn't compete with his opponent.

Hop Pop tried to moonwalk, but all of the pressure was getting to him, and he started to trip over himself in response.

"No harm in losing Hopadiah. " The blue skinned frog snickered.

"He's blowing it." Polly shook her head.

They watched as Hop pop, seeing Sylvia about to leave, decided to express himself by dancing free style.

"I can't look." Sprig cried out, covering his face.

"Neither can I." Polly did the same.

"Dance frog man! Dance!" Mabel cheered.

And so, Hop Pop continued, much to everyone's chargin.

Then to everyone's shock Sylvia started dancing with him… equally badly.

"They're made for each other," Mabel started to cry tears of laughter. Most of the town left, leaving Mabel, Polly, Sprig, Ivy, Hop Pop and Sylvia there. The band was paid though, so they stayed too.

"We so should have done the family hunting dance." Sprig pointed out.

"The what?"

"A dance from generations of plantar that make dumb animals go daze." Sprig answered.

"Dumb animals like Sprig." Polly joked.

"Dumb animals like me...Polly?!"

"Okay, this I have to see!" Mabel said.

He shrugged and started to show it.

Mabel and Ivy were having a blast. "This is great, Mabel!"

"I agree."
