Twins Missing in Dual Worlds Chapter 22: Civil Warriors.

Sprig wanted to get the last seat for a play, so he rushed to it and landed. "Boom!"

"No fair! You have appendages." Polly shook her head.

"Sprig you're the big brother, let Polly have your seat." Hop Pop followed her with a finger wag

"Say what? Come on Hop Pop! I got here first! It is not fair!"

"That's what older brothers do, Sprig. They look out for their little sisters. Now, move that rump over to that stump." He pointed at a lopsided and smelly stump, prompting the boy to take a seat in it.

"That is a shame. I know your pain, Sprig." Mabel sighed.

"It's just not fair. Just because she's a little younger, she always gets special treatment!"

"I never noticed that, and I'm five minutes older than Dipper. Maybe it's just a frog thing." Mabel went.

"It an injustice thing." He continued. "Why do I always have to sacrifice for her?!"

Mabel hesitated answering him, choosing instead to pull back.

"All right, now. Everybody settle down. I have some bad news. The acting troupe had to cancel on account of well, being eaten on the way here." Mayor Toadstool went, causing the crowd to boo.

"I want stories!" Ms. Croaker shouted.

"Wait! I have an idea!" Mabel jumped up.

"Thank goodness." He wiped is brown while Mabel set up a movie.

Later…

Sprig finished, "Civil war."

Mabel smiled as the town watched. "So what do y'all think?"

"I loved it!" Sprig shouted. "Best movie night ever!" The town was loving it. Mabel smiled in pride. Dipper would be so proud of her. That is until…The Plantar kids started to argue. Mabel tried to stop them, but for some reason the whole town joined in!

"Oh no not again." Hop Pop gulped.

"Again?" Her eyes widened in shock. "What's going on?!"

"Every few months the town finds something to argue about and make a mess of everything!"

"Wait, that is normal?" She threw her arms up.

"Yes." Hop Pop nodded.

Mabel facepalmed.

"Hopefully it'll only last till the morning." He shook his head.

"I guess we'll go home then." Mabel shrugged.

"Agreed." He really hoped everything would just blow over.

The Next Morning…

"It's even worse!" She gasped.

The town was literally split down the middle. Which each half of the town decorated in the colors of the hero they had decided was right.
The west was a cheap cosplay version of Stark tech, with red and gold and the other cover in red, white and blue.

"Hop Pop how do these usually end?"

"One word, 'badly'." He shivered at the last argument they had.

"We have to stop this!" Mabel said.

"Agreed, you take Polly since she likes you better than Sprig does." Hop Pop ordered.

"On it. Later." Mabel then ran off.

Polly had the place look like an old timey ice cream parlor… probably because that the closest thing to Steve childhood she knew of.

"Polly? Where are you?" Mabel asked.

"The truest patriot is this way." Toadie declared, he was dressed in what seemed to be a Falcon cosplay, with wooden wings on his arms.

She gulped and followed him.

"Greetings Mabel, are you ready to join team Cap?" She now wore an oversized Captain America helmet, poking her arms out the sides, while she used a painted garbage can lid as a shield.

"Don't you think this is all a little extreme?" Mabel tilted her head and motioned with hand. "Pretty colors though."

"No, I do not." The lead of Team Rogers said.

"Polly, the town is literally divided right now! Over a movie! This is more work than when my favorite knitting needle broke!"

"Your point?" Polly crossed her arms.

"I know you love chaos, but there has to be a limit!"

"So? I don't see a problem." Polly raised the shield, before motioning towards the town… that was now actively on fire. "The town gets set on fire all the time!" Before pointing at her. "Winter soldiers, extort the non-believer from my presence!" Before a group of people appeared behind her and escorted her out.

"I sure hope things went better for Hop Pop."

Meanwhile…

He found himself surrounded by a group of people clad in cardboard box armor.

"Okay this is ridiculous." Hop Pop threw his arms in the air.

"Hey Hop Pop! Are you ready to sign up?" Sprig jumped into view.

"Sprig doesn't this seem insane to you?"

"No, what's insane is Polly! She always gets special treatment and I'm sick of it!"

"Listen, she's your sister, you just have to-"

"I don't care that she's my sister! That doesn't mean she should get away with everything!"

"But Sprig..."

"Get out! War Machines lead him out!" Sprig said.

"Hey!" He tried to counter, only to get thrown out of Sprig's lair.

Mabel shook her head. "Looks like yours went well, huh?"

"No, they threw me out like a darn frisbee."

"How are we supposed to stop them when they won't listen?" Mabel threw her arms up in defeat.

"That is what I would like to know." Hop Pop rubbed his chin.

"Ugh, why can't they settle their differences with a game?"

"We tried it once, it only made things worse." Hop Pop shook his head.

"Maybe we can force them?"

"Did you not just watch them throw me out?"

She snapped her fingers. "I have an idea! Let's steal their flags and destroy them!"

"I guess we can try it at least." Hop Pop started… only to watch Mabel already running off.

Prompting him to go in the other direction.

Mabel sprinted and wasted no time climbing up the pole and grabbing the piece of cloth, it bore a red and white circle into each other with a blue star inside it.

"What going on here?! She has our flag!" Felicia Sundew pointed at Mabel

"I regret nothing!" She told herself as she leaped from the pole, using the flag as a parachute.

… Only for her to starting fire. "Trick arrows?!" She ducked and dodged, losing altitude and crashing just a few feet away from Felicia. "Ugh, you guys are taking this way too seriously"

"No we're not!" Felicia waved her arms, her scarlet dress shimmering in the afternoon sunset.

"Then stop pretending you have magic!" Mabel tried to tackle her, but Felicia dug her heals in the ground and scooped up the young girl.

"I don't need magic for this!"

Meanwhile with Hop Pop:

On his end, he sprinted towards the flag, noting that people in cardboard armor were guarding it.

He gulped, "You guys here someone behind you!" And much to his surprise, the guards listened, allowing to to leap for the flag and run off.

"I literally can't believe that worked." They tried to chase after him. "Hips don't give out now." He vaulted over burnt down buildings and sprinted down alleyways, easily outrunning the overly-dressed guards. "Now where's-" He instantly ran into Felcia, sending her over a pile of rubble and freeing Mabel from her grasp.

"Thanks HP." Mabel nodded.

"We're not out of danger yet!"

"What do we do now?" Mabel asked. Hop Pop gulped. "We watch and see." He scanned the filling battlefield as their leaders approached each other."Look likes Polly and Sprig are going to finally make up."

Sprig and Polly instead started to argue with each other.

Polly pointed at Sprig, "Just admit I'm right!"

"Never! This is about how the world should work!" He shouted.

Polly rolled her eyes and went on the offensive, "No this is about you being stupid!"

"You always get special treatment and I'm sick of it!" He pointed at her and shook his head.

"You always whine and complain!" Polly threw her arms up.

"You don't know what it's like to have to let you have the fun just because you're younger!"

"And you don't know what it's like having to constantly be compared to you!"

"Like you have to worry about that ever happening."

"Except, I do! It happens every day!"

"By who?"

"People always say how you had legs already! It is impossible to live up to you!" She cried out

"Enough talk, AMBUSH!" Ivy cried out, leaping from her elevated position.

"Retaliate!" Felicia ordered. Team Cap then started to hurl rotten food at the other side, along with their props.

Polly got hit by a tomato that was the size of her entire body, and was sent rolling straight into a sign post. "Ow that hurt!" She cried out. Her side started to get forced back, each member falling, before the survivors were finally routed, leaving her alone. "Guys?" Her voice filled with fear as someone got a mini gun with tomato ammo and aimed it at her.

He squeezed the trigger, and the makeshift weapon's barrel spun to life…

"No!" Sprig shouted, leaping in front of her, taking the blow of worthless veggies in her place.

The whole town stood in shock.

Polly spoke, "You sacrificed yourself to save me… why?"

"Heh, Hop Pop was right, I'm your big brother." Sprig answered. "I'll protect you, even if it means less fun for me. I'm sorry."

"No!" Polly cried out.

As the rest of the town heard Polly and Sprig reconcile, they all decided that the fighting needed to end… but they did have fun and enjoyed themselves, so they might go at it again later. Mabel decided from now on she'd have a talk with the town before playing any movies… no, she has never held an intervention for a town before.

At least Sprig and Polly were finally getting along again.

"That was so rough." Hop Pop went.

"But look at them now," Mabel pointed at Polly and Sprig sharing a stump and a snack.

"Definitely an improvement, hopefully it'll stick." He let out a sigh of relief.

Hop Pop then asked, "Which one of those plays are you going to put on next."

Mabel smiled wide, "Oh I choose a good one! It's called 'Tarzan'!"
