Twins Missing in Dual Worlds chapter 30: Mabel and Wally the greatest story never told.

Today October 18 is my birthday.

"Remember kids we are just going for a grocery run we do not need to get any wacky adventure. I am talking to you Mabel." The grand elder of the planter said.

Mabel laughed. "Oh relax."

"YOu have no idea how much I would like to do that very thing." HE said, "Just please try not to cause trouble."

Mabel just smiled and looked out at the town as they rode the snail.

"Hey can we go berry picking, it's been too long since we have sweets. I need my sweets." Polly said, grabbing Hop Pop by the jacket.

"Polly what did we say about grabbing people?" Hop Pop asked, gently getting her to let go

"Umm not to." Polly has her eyes go wide at this, using those Planters guilt genes.

Mabel laughed as she watched this, but then her attention was dragged away as she heard others laughing.

"Oh it's crazy one eye Wally again." Sprig said, "With him around I almost seem popular."

Polly then said, "YOu being popular is sad."

"Hey, stop making fun of him." Mabel did not like bullies or picking fun of people.

"Mabel let's keep focused on the task at hand." She said,

"I'm talking to you two too!" Mabel said.

"So you want us not to point out the obvious, ignoring the stuff around me. That doesn't sound like me." Sprig said.

"Don't worry about what you normally do but keep your mouth closed bro." Polly told her brother.

"Jezz, rude." Mabel's response.

They just shrug, not like Wally was one of their family members. Mabel didn't like how they were reacting.

"Come on Mabel you've been talking about how you've been wanting some sweets for your what they call creeps?" The young frog boy mispronounced the word.

"You mean crepes?" Mabel asked.

"Yes, now to the Berry fields!" Sprig declared as they got to the local berry field.

ONce they were down, " Now remember, green and red, be well fed. Blue and red, instantly dead." Hop Pop said, as Sprig grabbed a handful of green and red berries, "Oh, wait. Or was that, 'Green and red, instantly dead'?" Sprig then spit out the berries at this.

The baby laughed, "Sprig almost died."

Mabel looks back, not sure if Hop Pop was kidding or not. He probably was. Mabel started to wander out of the berry field. A gentle breeze was felt on her skin as something moved.

She looked up. Eyes widening as she witnessed a majestic moss covered creature. IT turned facing Mabel, Mabel tried her hardest not to speak it but it ran off anyway.

The beast got on all four and ran using its superior limbs to get away from her. It seems like it did not like Mabel for some reason.

"I have to go tell the others about this. What is this?" It left some pretty flowers on the ground with pink petals with a top of blue on the very edge. Mabel picks it up, loving the smell. Mabel started to run to the Planters at this.

It was soft, the smell had the smell of morning dew on it.

"Hey Mabel, what 's going on?" Sprig asked.

"Just saw this majestic moss creature."

"Thanks for the compliment Mabel but you don't need to flatter me." He said.

"Eww no. You are slimy and pink. Not covered in moss." Mabel wonders if Sprig got dropped as an egg, that would explain so much.

"And your peach color and hairy point?" He asked.

"My point is you arent what I saw." Mabel said.

"What is going on here?" Polly asked leaping over to her bestie and her brother.

"Sprig being dumb." Mabel was pouting at this.

Polly looked at Mabel, "You interrupted picking to tell me that? Really?" She asked tilting her head body at this.

"Ya. I told him I saw a creature made of moss and he thought I meant him. He's literally getting dumber."

Polly started to laugh at her comment.

"I know right," She laughed too.

"You're talking about the Mossman." Polly said.

"Is that what that thing is called?" Mabel was determined to get it in her journal.

"Mabel the Moss man is a myth. You know, make believe." Sprig said this.

"What with the idle hands?" Hop Pop asked, they had berries to get.

"Then how come I saw it yet never heard of this myth?" Mabel asked.

"What's going on?" Hop pop needed some catching up.

Mabel told him what happened.

"Mabel the Moss man is a story we tell to gullible tadpoles." Hop pop said wanting to set the record straight. "IT is probably nothing more than a few plants moving in the wind."

"Even me as a literal baby, I don't believe it." Polly said.

"But I've never even heard this story before?" Mabel said.

"You either just imagine something from not getting enough sleep, or overhear someone talk about it." Hop Pop dismissed her.

Mabel did not like being treated like a child at this.

"Might want to keep it to yourself before they label you a crazy person." Hop Pop warned, wanting to protect her reputation.

"I guess you make a good point." She didn't want to cause a fight over this. They rode back to town and saw people calling One Eye Wally annoying and insulting him.

Mabel jumped out of the cart. Upon seeing back up they just decided to leave, allowing Wally and Mabel to talk in somewhat private.

Mabel approached him. "Are you ok?"

"Fine." He said as he started to play his accordion again.

"You're pretty good at that." Mabel compliment.

"Didn't you say I needed lessons?" Wally asked, remembering something the other day.

"And you've improved," she said cheekily, her advice was helping.

"That sure did." He said, giving a big smile at her.

She grinned. "What song is this?" Mabel wasn't familiar with Amphibian music.

"Just playing by ear." He told her.

She sat down with him.

"Umm I didn't ask for that, oh well." He said weirded out and back again. "What got you down?" Wally asked, curious at all of this. She told him about the moss man incident. "You're lucky to be alive, the Moss Man took my hand he did." He said, showing off his two hands to the human girl.

Mabel just thought that the crazy dirty frog was joking.

"What's so funny?" He asked, not realizing how dumb it was.

"Ya got both hands silly." She said, point at Wally's left hand and then his right hand.

"Lefty you return." Wally said, it is unclear if he was messing with her or really believes it.

"I like your insanity." Mabel found sanity so boring, so why not change things up.

"Whatever you say creature." He said he never saw himself as insane.

"So you think that Moss Man thing is real too?" Mabel wondered if this is how Dipper felt when people didn't believe him.

"I did, what did you think I was talking about when I said it took my hand?" He asked, it was a very clear stance for him.

"You could have been making fun of me like the others." Mabel usually didn't let insults get to her, but she was only human. She was on the fence if she thought her friends made it or not.

"No way, I don't nearly have the social status to be able to punch down at you." He said, apparently hearing how the whole town thought less of him than her, an alien made a smile appear on Mabel's face. "It's kinda hard to be at the bottom of the pyramid like this." He kicked a stone at this, "Oh well what are you going to do?" He asked, raising his shoulders up at this.

"Why is it like that anyways?" Mabel found frogs' social standings harder to understand than humans ones.

"Why is that like that?" Wally wasn't able to follow the logic.

"That everyone hates you." Mabel is blunted about this.

"Oh most people hate the lower class, have no idea why, maybe I remind them that this could happen to them randomly and suddenly. No warning one day living the high life, next right in the gutter, helpless, scared, hungry. Ha." He laughed as if he just told a joke.

Mabel was saddened by this.

"That life for ya, no point harping on it." Wally said, nonchalant about the whole situation.

"I'm gonna get a photo of it! Should have brought eighteen cameras." She learns nothing from Butt Island.

"Good luck." He said, turning around saluting since Mabel didn't ask for help.

Mabel got an idea, "Want to join me?"

"Sure, I have nothing better to do anyways." Wally said he got the freedom.

"Be safe." Hop Pop knew that reining her in would be a bad idea, plus she was with an adult, how much real danger could she get in.

"Onward!" Mabel declared, pointing forwards in a pose. He happily plays the accordion as they travel. Mabel happily made up lyrics, "We swim through the sea, Race through the sky, We battle, We cried." They were out of tune and even the frogs that like Mabel were glad to see them leave after hearing it. Mabel was just vibing at the situation. They keep on it for far too long, and neither of the writers were interested in writing the rest of the song for now, so skip to later in the plot.

"Hey where are we going?" Mabel said she apparently forgot she was the leader.

"There is a spring on some cliffs, that was where I last saw the thing." He said, although he was kinda following her.

"Oh right, we can do this." Mabel said she would be motivated.

IT took him about half an hour to get on a decent track. Wally decided to get talking to distract them on how lost they were, "So what is it like to live with the Plantars?" He knew those guys but never were close.

"They're pretty nice. A lot different from anyones I've stayed with before though." She said she always felt at home everywhere but with her parents.

"You travel around alot?" He asked, as he checked the trees seeing if there was any sign of anything leaving a trail of any kind.

"Not really. But my parents sent my brother and I to stay with our Grunkle last summer." She loved her time at Gravity Falls, she wondered if Ford was going to be the one to save her. The frogs are now nice enough, but she wanted to go home.

"THat is fun." Wally Said, he then got confused and asked a question, "What is a Grunkle?" HE didn't heard that word before.

"It's shorthand for great uncle, I wanted the Uncleinator, but Dipper says that's the stupidest thing he has ever heard." She said.

"IT must be nice to be on such good terms with your family." Wally said, he sounds a bit upset, did he have some issues with his family.

"Actually we'd never met him before that point." Mabel said, but he was trustworthy and got her the most amazing adventure ever. She hopes she gets to see him again.

"Well you get to meet new people." He thinks they should change the subject.

"Speaking of new people. What's your family like? I don't think I've seen them around.

D'oh the only subject he wanted to avoid, "My parents aren't from around here, and they don't really approve of my choice of life." He said, mumbling if I ever told them, softer than Mabel could understand.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear about that." Mabel knew when she overstepped a line, rarely but when she did would make things right one way or another.

"I don't blame ya, I normally never care what other people think of me, then again it's my family so it's different." He said, he never knew how to deal with it,

"I wish I knew what my parents thought of me." She wanted to see the best in people, but her parents kept the cards too close for comfort.

"You seem pretty capable without them." He said, leaping from one tree branch to the next one.

"I will try." She said holding her hands out at this.

"It is nice having someone to talk to." He said he was okay with being alone for some time but did enjoy the art of conversation.

"I'm glad we can," Mabel was glad to make another friend in this world.

"Hey, you make your own clothes too?" He asked.

"Yup! I also like to make them for my brother." Even if Dipper had no sense of Fashion whatsoever.

"He is lucky, most people don't understand the quality of hand made stitching." A patch fell off his shirt, "If only I knew how to do it."

"I could help you learn if you want?" She offered, she could spread her love of sweaters to another, it now going to go viral.

"That sounds like a bog running idea." He said using some of those Amphibian old timey words. Mabel smiled at that. "That means good." He explained plainly.

She laughed, "You're such a goofball."

"I do wonder what it eats." He said.

"Good question. He didn't seem interested in attacking me." She wrote it down in her journal.

"Maybe it's your sweater." He said, since it had a picture of what looks like a strawberry on it.

She snorted at that.

"You know I had a hard enough time just finding a place in a new town, I can't possibly imagine what would happen to another world."

"It's hard having people act like I'm a monster. I'm just a kid." She said,

"I mean to act, are all kids as tall as you?" He asked, since she was tall as a full grown frog.

"It's a range. I'm actually short for my age." Or was she in denial but she was hitting a bit of a growth spurt.

"REally you are as tall as I am." Wally said, happily playing his instrument as the two of them walked along. "We are not far now."

"Should we go quiet?" Mabel asked, stealth wasn't her strong suit.

Wally looks to the left and the right. "Oh right."

Mabel tried to go into a more stealthy mind set. But it's not her strong suit.

"Mabel looks like footsteps." He said pointing at the grassy foot steps.

Mabel looked down. Proud of herself for being smart.

He followed by keeping his music off so it did not be way too loud.

Mabel took out her phone. Ready to snap a photo. Only to find it wasn't there. She suddenly remembered she left it on her bed side. "Ah what do I do?" Mabel was so humiliated by this.

"I don't ahh." He yelled as the ground beneath their feet started to shake, "what going on?" The cliff side started to shake from the quake, "Mabel avalanche."

Mabel slipped on the rocky ground.

"Mabel." He then made a mighty blah sound as he stuck his tongue to grab Mabel and to hopefully get her away from the falling rocks.

As he did he lost his footing.

Something got between them, it was caught. The Moss man was holding it back. "Is this great?" The thing was struggling to stay up, "IT only bracing it, we have to get to safety Mabel."

Mabel worked with him to pull up.

He leapt himself with Mabel in tow to safety.

"Woah. That was intense. Thank you," she told them both.

"Welcome, umm Mabel, can I ask you a question?" Wally asked, his voice suggesting she was nervous.

"Sure buddy." Mabel said, not noticing what was wrong with his voice.

"You remember which way is Wartwood, I am kinda lost?" He asked looking to his left and then his right and repeated.

She paled. "Uh oh!"

"I guess as long as we stay away from Toad Towers we should be fine." Wally tries to be positive. They saw the moss man point in a direction. "Wait, is it me or is he trying to give us directions? By the way, it's good to see that he wasn't crushed by a boulder."

"I think he is trying to help us," she agreed. "I just wish I could have proven he's real."

"Mabel lets focus on not dying, then by Gobblewonker we can try again another time."

Mabel nodded, "Sounds like a solid plan." As she kept nodding her head as she spoke.

Wally decided to head west one direction as well as another.

Mabel followed along. But. "Did you hear that?"

"Yes, let's move slowly. Maybe it did not notice who we are?"

Mabel yelped as something wrapped around her ankle.

"Mabel?!" He asked, turning around hearing something moving in her direction."

"HELP ME!" Mabel yelled out.

"Don't worry MAbel, I can help." He said, trying to grab her with his tongue.

Mabel tried to stay still and not get the snake to bite her as she was yanked away from the snake. Snake. Snake. Snake is a funny word.

"AHH." Wally threw her up, and leaped to get to a tree branch. He moved his tongue back of his mouth, "WE can get a second to think about this."

Mabel looked down at the menacing figure. "That snake is super long like a noodle!"

"Let's hope we can keep out of its bite." He said, there was a clearing so they could leap around it. "We are going to have to leap down soon."

"I'll never make it though." Stupid human body, this is easy for a frog not so much for a frog.

"Just hold on, and then we are going to have to run like heck." He said. Mabel grabbed onto her friend. "I'm heading to the clearing." He leapt once he was reasonably sure that the human would not let go of this. Mabel yelped and held on tight. Making a run for it as soon as they hit the ground. "Serpentine." Wally declares wanting to make sure they are able to escape from the serpent monster.

Mabel yelled out happily, "That was completely and utterly awesome!"

They ran as the ground shook. "Let's get going." Wally knew this was not normal for them.

"Why does everything want to kill us?" Mabel would have to check that Amphibia shampoo wasn't really barbecue sauce.

"I don't know, maybe your potential is delicious! Ahh." He had to leap over a fallen tree too high to just walk over but not large enough to walk around.

"Oh man!" Mabel had to climb.

"OH right." He used his tongue to toss her over the log again.

"I wish I had magical jumping powers." This was a horrible isekai experience.

"Maybe one day." He said the snake made an extremely loud hiss. Mabel couldn't believe how determined this thing was.

"Let's ditch this angry noodle!" Mabel was so annoyed.

"Agree, wait for beaver beetle droppings, do you know what that means?" He asked.

"Can't say that I do dude." MAbel was wondering why he was so happy to deal with animal poop.

"That means beaver beetles are nearby." He said Mabel still wasn't getting it.

"Is that a good or bad thing?" She said, her head tilting and running alongside him.

"Just follow me." He said, dragging her along wanting to get her a safe distance for the plan.

Mabel really hoped he knew what he was doing.

"Just keep running." He said, plan in his eyes.

She nodded. Deciding to trust him.

He weaved through some trees, looking near their roots, "Come on come on come on."

Mabel tried to help but didnt know what to do

"Just keep up, Mabel." IF this work, then they could be free from this snake form. "Keep close, we are almost there."

Mabel did her best. Glad she was athletic, if it was Dipper he would be snake chow right about now.

The moss man pushed the tree down once the two of them were out of the way, stopping the snake in its tracks.

"Thank you Mr Moss Man!" Mabel said, waving at her new plant, animal, her new friend.

It just stares at her. "I guess he is a man of few words." Wally said.

"At least he's on our side." Mabel was always happy to make a new animal friend, how Snow White did it Mabel will never know.

"Agree, glad we got someone here to help." Wally never imagined this was the personality it would have.

"So guess we head back?" Mabel wanted to go and make sure her sweater was working.

"Agree." He said, looking to see the beast pointing them that way.
