The Stag and the Dragoness:
King's Landing:
Roughly two months had passed since the end of the Mythic Dawn's invasion. Two months since King Martin Baratheon had announced his marriage to Daenerys Targaryen. This marriage would finally cement Martin's claim to the throne since his father Robert Baratheon claim had been though conquest and his claim had always been questioned as being illegitimate and he was a usurper. Now Martin was marrying the last member of House Targaryen which would end all talk of that. It also would unite the two groups of dragons together since both Martin and Daenerys had dragons that were rapidily growing. The loss of the Great Dragon Silverwing had been big as she could have been a stabilizer for the more ferocious dragons such as Daenerys' Drogon and Martin's red dragon Fui who were both beginning to grow wilder and more uncontrollable leading to worries that they have to be contained to keep the people safe.
Right now, Daenerys was flying on Drogon above King's Landing. Of her three dragons, Drogon was the largest and almost one third bigger than her other dragons, Rhaegal and Aego. She thought that taking him on regular fights would help him calm down. He was still upset and angry about not being the alpha now as he was no longer the biggest dragon anymore. That role was now to Martin's golden scaled dragon Septim. It also didn't help that the largest female dragon was Martin's silver scaled dragon Starlight was Septim's mate. Drogon had been forced to settle for another dragon but was still upset that he was no longer the strongest anymore. Daenerys hoped to keep him calm and prevent them fighting as while great creatures, dragons were still animals that would fight each other over territory, food and mates which is why it came down to Martin and Daenerys to prevent this from happening.
After flying for a few hours, Daenerys decided it was time to head back and so she soon descended and landed in the open yard of the Dragonkeep where the dragons were kept. The Dragonkeep was where the dragons were held and the old one had a large roof, now it was open to allow the dragons the freedom although if they misbehaved then they would be locked in pens as punishment. Drogon and Fui in particular were troublesome.
"My queen." Jorah greeted her as she landed and dismounted Drogon "Good to see that you're back."
"I'm not queen yet." Daenerys replied. "I won't be until Martin and I are married."
"You will always be queen in my eyes." Jorah replied "You've come a long way since we first met."
"And I'm glad that flying on Drogon is helping him with his temper." Came the voice of Blade Captain Fortis who was stationed as commander of the blades as the Dragonkeep. "Letting the dragons roam free seems to help and treating like friends rather than beasts helps the people get use to them."
"They are my children." Daenerys smiled "My first children."
"Until you have the King's children who will inherit this realm." Jorah added
Daenerys looked "By the way, where is Martin?"
"He's busy setting up the wedding preparations." Fortis stated "Delphine told me that he wants the Wedding held in the Temple of the Divines rather than the Great Sept of Baelor. The Small council is worried about that on how it could provoke the High Septon and the Most Devout. After all royal weddings are traditionally done there and they're worried about causing another Faith uprising although with those Sparrows gone, the fanatics will think twice."
"Well, I guess I better head back to the Keep, I told Alessia that I would meet her and the other ladies about children." Daenerys said
Temple of the Divines:
"Are you sure about this?" Rorlund the main priest of the Temple of the Divines asked "Is this really where you want your wedding?"
"I converted to the Faith of the Nine Divines." Martin stated he was in the temple along with Delphine "It would feel wrong to have my wedding in a Sept when I don't worship the seven."
"The High Septon will not like that." Jaime joked
"Well I don't care what he thinks." Martin replied "If he gets any ideas then I will remind him of what happened to the Sparrows. To be safe I'm ordering Captain Carmalo to have this area under guard while the wedding is going ahead."
"We will have to close the Temple for the day then." Frier stated "This temple is not big enough for a huge crowd."
"Which is why we're having the main guests here and then everyone will be at the feast in the Red Keep." Martin stated
Rorlund nodded "Well Maramal will be more than happy to perform this wedding." He stated "He is the Priest of Mara, the Goddess of Love and it's his job to perform weddings. He's never done a royal one before so that will be a first."
Frier laughed "He will probably be nervous about doing something wrong, I'll help him to get this place ready."
"Just make sure that they don't bring any alcohol here." Rorlund sighed "You know he hates the stuff."
"He hates what it does to people." Martin laughed "Not the drink itself. He wishes people would turn to faith to solve their problems than drown their sorrows. At least he didn't go round destroying things like the Sparrows did."
"Indeed." Frier stated
The temple doors then opened and Martin watched a young red haired woman walk in holding the hand of a small child with black hair and blue eyes. She gasped when she saw Martin. "Oh I'm sorry Rorlund, I didn't know you would be busy."
"It's alright Mhaegen." Rorlund stated "You know you're always welcomed here."
"Mhaegen?" Martin questioned and then remembered something "Wait, is this the girl that…"
Rorlund sighed "Yes your Grace." He replied "This is the girl that we helped escape during your brother's massacre."
"Just another thing that my brother was guilty of." Martin hissed and looked at the child that was hiding behind her mother "So I'm guessing that this is my half-sister."
"Well." Mhaegen said "Your father and I did lay with each other."
Martin smiled "It's alright. I can see my father in her." He knelt down to Barra who slowly looked at her "Hello, I'm Martin, your half-brother. We share a father but at least you have a mother who cares about you." He then playfully tapped Barra on the nose causing Barra to squeal in delight making everyone laugh. He then looked at Mhaegan "Listen, if anyone threatens you or your daughter, you tell Captain Carmalo or one of his men. You may have once been a prostitute but as the mother to my half-sister, you are under my protection. She may not inherit anything but she is family to me and I always look out for family."
Mhaegan gasped "Thank you your grace."
Martin smiled "Just make sure Barra here has a good life."
Pyke: Iron Islands:
Theon Greyjoy sat on the Seastone chair, the throne used by House Greyjoy. It was a stone chair made of an oily black stone carved in the shape of a kraken. Ironborn legends say that it was found on the shores of Old Wyke but no one knows for sure where the stone really came from. Maesters disagree. Uncle Aeron claimed that only a true pious Ironman could sit on the chair, not an ungodly man or a woman. Now with the death of most of his family, only Theon and his sister Yara were left of the Greyjoy family. Theon was now lord of the Iron Islands and had made it his mission to rebuild the Ironborn in a new way, a tricky and dangerous task due to the Ironborn history.
The Ironborn culture had been built around reaving and raiding to get the materials they needed since the islands except for Great Wyke were unsuitable for growing food and there was no wood to be used which is why they would raid the mainland for these supplies. They would also take thralls to work in the mines for minerals, a task that the Ironborn deemed inferior. Theon had now banned this which did have some risks to it. Once the Ironborn were ruled by King Harmund Hoare who tried to do just what Theon was doing until he was overthrown in a rebellion led by a priest known as the Shrike.
A difference with Theon though is that most of the great Ironborn reavers were dead now. Some of the great houses such as the Drumms, the Codds, the Orkwoods and the Saltcliffes were extinct now along with many of the reavers as most had been killed during the Battle of the Arbor during the Mythic Dawn war. Only a few major houses were left and they had been loyal to Victorian during the Kingsmoot which includes Houses Blacktyde, Bootly and Harlaw. Most of the Drowned Priests were dead as well, ironically they had Euron to thank for that since he had massacred them during his reign.
This made it easier for Theon to begin changing the Ironborn culture, he still encouraged sailing since it was in the Ironborn blood but he forbade raiding saying they would be considered pirates now. He also encouraged a new trade in whaling. Whale oil was now being used to make high quality candals and it gave the Ironborn a new sense of fighting. He allowed Ironborn to also be hired as mercenaries in Essos but warned them against raiding in Westeros, other places were fine but they had to be under the employ of nations at war with each other. That had been really what helped keep the remaining Ironborn happy. Just to be safe, the Iron Throne had deployed a legion here in order to help ensure that the Ironborn did not get any ideas.
Theon now hardly did anything now. He always wondered what would happen if he became lord one day as was his birth right but now he was finding it rather boring. All he would do is sit around and hold meetings then maybe train in the yard to get better with his metal hand after losing one hand in the fight against Euron.
"Rule not what you thought it would be?" Yara joked as she entered. After the war she had married her former lover Tristifer Bootly but still lived at Pyke to give advice to her brother. Long ago she thought she would have ruled the Iron Islands since Theon had been sent away and pretty much given up by her father. She did love her but he did have his faults and truth be told, was too ambitious for his own good. Now she accepted Theon as lord but could tell he wasn't fond of the role.
"It just seems so boring here." Theon admitted "I mean at Winterfell I had Robb and others to talk to and then as a Legion soldier, I was still patrolling from time to time and then I was off adventuring. Now it seems all I do is sit around."
"So you want to go off on another adventure?" Yara asked "Be careful what you wish for brother, not everything is as fun as it seems.
King's Landing: Great Sept:
Former Queen mother Cersei was never a religious woman, in fact she looked down on the gods for letting her mother die in childbed. But right now she was in the Sept paying respects to her most important item, the urn that contained the remains of her son Joffrey. After being put down by Delphine after being turned into a zombie, Joffrey's body had been cremated and allowed to be buried in the Great Sept along with the remains of many other kings and family members. Cersei had wanted Joffrey's body to be buried but because of how badly he had decomposed, he was cremated instead and given a small room away from the Targaryen urns. Cersei remembered that her husband Robert was the only king not buried here as he wanted his remains returned to Storm's End.
Cersei was not the same as she had once been. She had been drinking more and begun to gain weight. She had lost all of her power and was not little more than a guest. Martin allowed her to live in the Red Keep but was allowed no power and was watched a lot to make sure she did not cause trouble. She knew it could be worse but she was beginning to feel depressed. She lit a few candles on the alter beside the urn and sighed.
"You know you can't mourn him forever you know." The voice of her brother Jaime called "You have to move on soon."
"What would you know!" Cersei hissed "You've become a member of a sacred order while I'm little more than a guest now. And what would you know of how I feel. You were never a father to him, to any of them."
"You knew I couldn't." Jaime hissed "You knew what that would have done. Plus, you have yourself to blame as much as anyone else. If you had disciplined that boy thing would have been very different. You let him become a vicious boy who ended up joining some demonic cult. Thankfully Martin did not release that information, it would have had an even worse impact on his reputation especially after what just happened with the Mythic Dawn cult. An entire city in ruins and thousands of people lie dead. If the people knew Joffrey was part of another cult there would be riots outside the city demanding their removal from here." Jaime then sighed "Cersei, I've broken it off between us, I have a new life now but you are still my sister and I'm worried about you. Just look at yourself, you're drinking heavily, I don't want to see you drink yourself to death. You always hated your husband because he drank so much though he did whoring as well." He then sighed "I'll just leave you to it." He then walked away leaving Cersei alone.
Castle Black: The Wall:
Lord Commander Jeor Mormont sat in the Great Hall with his top men which were First Ranger Alliser Thorne, First Builder Othell Yarwyck and First Steward Bowen Marsh along with Maester Aemon. Also in the room was Commander Isran, Jon Snow, Serena and Mance Rayder. Mormont was still using a cane to walk following his injury during the Mutiny at Craster's Keep.
"Even with all the new men we have gathered, I still don't know if we will be ready when the White Walkers come." Mormont sighed
"Not to mention the Dragur as well." Serena stated "I have a bad feeling that they're building up their strength."
"That left me with a theory." Mance stated "Legends tell us of the Ancient Dragon Priests, leaders of the ancient people who once worshipped the dragons thousands of years ago. Some tribes have passed down legends of these priests and how they were entombed. Several years ago some scholar came to one of these old ruins at a place called Forelhost located in the Frostback Mountains. It was an old monastery that legends say was the last stronghold of the dragoncult."
"I've also heard of these priests as well." Serena stated "Legends say they would rise again one day. I bet the White Walkers may have struck a deal with these priests."
"But we have no proof of that." Jon said
"Though we know the Dragur and White Walkers are working together." Mormont said "We encountered them both during a ranging while you were off to Solthshiem."
"And we encountered them as well when we went to get the Horn of Winter." Jon added
Alliser spoke up "So how many of these Dragon Priests are there?"
"There were probably many." Serena stated "Dragon Priests were just like what Septons are for the Faith of the Seven."
"But there were always those who were better known." Mance stated "The Free Folk told legends that claimed the highest ranked Dragon priests or those who served the Dragons loyaly were rewarded with special masks that granted them power and also they ruled like kings of their rule. I've heard talks of at least eight and maybe even a ninth one. Legends say that the Warlord Konahrik led the conquest of much territory of these Dragon cultists and had a mask more powerful than the others. It was so powerful in fact that according to the story, when he died, the other priests buried him in a tomb and combinded their power so only one who was strong enough to earn the other masks could open his tomb. The problem is like with many other tombs of these priests, their location has been lost to time."
"They may not even be all beyond the Wall." Serena added "The dragon cult also spread in the north as well."
"That is a worry." Mormont stated "If the dragur rise up south of the wall we could be attacked before the Walkers even reach the wall."
Aemon spoke up "I will have the rest of the Maesters search for any reference to these priests but with so much history from that time lost, it may be in vain. Though doesn't the king know someone who knows about the dragon cults."
"He does." Isran replied "Farengar Secret Fire, a scholar whose done a tone of research on the ancient dragon langue, one of the few who learnt how to write it. Plus Blades Loremaster Esbern might know something. The Blades have lots of lost writings, they might be able to help."
"It's better than doing nothing." Jon stated "Doing nothing will just weaken morale."
"It's also dangerous to keep sending scouting missions." Mormont added "Look what happened last time, we lost good men to the dragur and wights and then we had a mutiny."
Jon sighed "I've been meaning to talk to you about that." He said
"You want to head up and bring the mutineers to justice don't you?" Isran questioned
Jon sighed in reply "Yes, what happened there was tragic, we cannot let it go unpunished."
"We just went over the wall." Alliser said "We can't just keep sending men out there."
Mormont thought for a moment "I… I need time to think about this Jon. What happened there was bad and I want justice for the murder of Craster even if he was a horrible man. But Alliser's right, we can't just waste men anymore. Even with the new allies from Solsthiem plus Mance's men, we still may not have enough men and we cannot garuntee your safety I mean we were attacked even after leaving Craster's Keep. The White Walkers and dragur have full control over everywhere north of the wall now. Maybe once Benjen returns with a report, I can make a descision about the mutineers."
Jon sighed "Alright Lord Commander."
"Don't worry my boy." Isran replied patting Jon on the back "The time for justice will come eventually."
Red Keep: King's Landing:
With the wedding between King Martin Baratheon and Lady Daenerys Targaryen approaching, many lords from around the Seven Kingdoms had come to King's Landing for the wedding. This included Lord Robb Stark and his wife Jeyne who had brought their baby son with them. Robb's brother Bran was still in the north along with Sansa and Rickon. Arya had come with them. Lord Edmure Tully was with them as Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. Basically all of the Lords Paramount had come, the only exceptance with Prince Doran Martell who was in no way fit to travel due to gout but his brother along with the Sand Snakes had come.
Martin's sister Alessia who was the wife of Lord Wilas Tyrell, Lord Paramount of the Reach had decided to hold a gathering of the ladies of the realm who had brought their young children if they had any. Alessia had brought her daughter Rosie Tyrell or Rose. The young toddler was starting to speak in small sentances but still not fully yet but she was also the oldest of the children brought in since she was born not long after Martin became king. Little Rosie had her mother's black hair and blue eyes but the hair was a lighter shade and most other features were from her father. Lady Jeyne Stark had brought her newborn son Eddard Stark who was only two months old and still gurgling. Lady Margaery was with them but she had no children since her marriage to Tommen was still a while off. The only other child of note was a young baby boy held by Martin's half-sister Mya Stone. While others may have sneered at her due to her bastard status, Mya was welcomed into the family since she was one of the main siblings Martin and Alessia had since she was their father's eldest child. She and her husband Mychel Redfort had just had their young child which they named Robert in honour of Mya's father and the child's grandfather. Daenerys Tyrell was also with them.
"How long until your wedding to Tommen takes place." Alessia asked Margaery holding Rosie who was throwing her arms around.
"Tommen is of age now but we want to wait until after the King's Wedding." Margaery replied "Shame that it will not be as grand as other royal weddings."
"My brother has always been a practical man." Alessia replied "He never had intrest in spending money on things he never really needed. Being king is a duty and that duty requires money in order to keep the kingdom stable. Plus the Temple of the Divines is not big enough to accommodate a huge gathering."
"Won't the Faith not like that?" Jeyne asked holding Eddard who was sleeping "I mean I wedded under the Old Gods rather than the Faith but I worship the Divines as well plus the Old Gods are considered closer to them?"
"Well with the fanatic Sparrows gone, there shouldn't be much of a problem." Alessia stated "Plus my brother did give a big donation to the Faith for the rebuilding of the Staery Sept in Oldtown."
"I went to Oldtown frequently when I was a child since my mother was from there." Margaery sighed "The Starey Seopt was amazing to see. It's a shame that it's little more than a pile of rubble now."
"It will be rebuilt but not in the same place." Alessia stated "A building can be rebuilt but a life cannot be restored."
"Indeed." Daenerys stated "I am nervous about my wedding even though I've been married before."
"So have I." Margaery stated "But my first marriage was never consummated since Renly preferred the company of men."
"I was so scared when I bedded my husband." Daenerys sighed "I mean he looked like a big brute of a man and the Dothraki was fierce and scary with their reputation across Essos. In the end he was so gently with me that I actually began to fall for him. He will always hold a place in my heart."
"Mother sometimes says that some people are just misunderstood." Margaery stated "Besides that Dothraki rider you brought with you Rakharo seems like a good man. I hear he's even entered in the upcoming tourney for the King's Wedding. He's got some attention from the ladies due to his exotic nature."
"Indeed." Alessia smiled "Apparently I heard from Oberyn that his daughter Elia has eyes for him. And that Tyene seems to be eying your friend Darien."
Mya laughed "Young love is something isn't it." She replied thinking of Mychel "Without these crushes Mychel and I wouldn't be together today even if his family has disowned him."
"You will always have a place here with us Mya." Alessia said "Father never said it but he cared about you. He even wanted to bring you here but mother wouldn't allow it. She made threats which she may have carried through. Tyrion did say that she may have killed a set of twins in Casterly Rock plus there was the massacre here though I believe that was Joffrey. He may have been my brother but he was still a monster."
"At least Tommen turned out differently." Margaery smiled thinking about how the two of them had been spending quite a bit of time together. Tommen had said about how scared he had been when the Mythic Dawn captured him and that he was determined to be stronger so that wouldn't happen again. Margaery encouraged him to enter in the upcoming tourney to celebrate the wedding in order to show that he was his own man.
Daenerys laughed "I just hope that my second wedding isn't as violent as the first." She stated "The Dothraki apparently say that a wedding without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair. The men mate like animals and if two go after the same women, they fight to the death and everyone looks on like nothing's happening. There was no privacy either and I could see people doing it in full view."
"What a scandal if that happened here." Margaery gasped
"That's the Dorthraki culture for you." Alessia stated "Enough talk of that in front of the children though, let's talk of other things."
Meereen: Slaver's Bay:
Aegon Targaryen sat at the table in the Great Pyramid of Meereen with his gathered council. After crowning himself King of the Bay of Dragons as he now called Slaver's Bay with Meereen as the capital. His reign spread from the three former Slaver Cities and south towards New Ghis which had been held by Travis Thresh and towards the island city of Tolos leaving him in charge of the entire land around the Bay. Only the city of Elyria, a former city from the Valyrian Freehold and one of the only settlements on the peninsular withheld resulting in Aegon sending an army to enforce his rule.
The Great Pyramid of Meereen was one of the tallest buildest ever built at thirty-three levels which is a number considered sacred by the ancient Ghiscari. The main audience hall was built within the heart of the Pyramid on the sixteenth level while the living chambers were on the upper floors. The lower floors houses the stables and other practical rooms such as the kitchens while the old prison was built below ground. One thing the pyramid did not have was a throne room as Meereen never had a king. All of the Slaver Cities were ruled by councils made up of the Slave Masters or at least the ones considered noble blood. That meeting room was being used as the council room while Aegon used the former Audience Hall as the throne room though it only had a stone chair where a judge would sit rather than a king since no one man ruled Meereen before Aegon.
Aegon's council was made up of people he had known for a long time such as his father figure Jon Connington, Gorys Edoryen and Lysono Maar who served as the chief councillor, treasurer and spymaster respectably. Aegon was informed that he should also appoint councillors who were native otherwise they would seem like foreign occupiers and so Aegon had brought in Mossador, a former slave who led the slave uprising during the siege and had great love amongst the former slaves. The other major figure was a man called Hazrak Zo Loraq and his son Hizdahr. Hazrak was actually one of the former Great Masters of Meereen and the representative of the old blood of Meereen. He had been spared the fate of many former Great Masters of being crucified after the taking of Meereen as many former slaves spoke up in his favour since he was much more caring and had also spoken against crucifying the children. As a result he was spared. The other major figure of the council was Galazza Galare known as the Green Grace, an elderly woman who was the High Priestess of the Temple of Graces, a major religious figure in the city and a voice of peace and torrelence. It was she who advised Aegon to name Hazrak to the council to ensure they did not look like foreign occupiers.
"Any news from Travis?" Aegon asked
"The siege of Elyria is taking longer than he hoped." Jon replied "The city is old and they've had a history of resistance against them. Plus some of the remaining people from Tolos who refused to accept you have floked to their side."
"There is also trouble brewing in Astapor and Yunkai." Lysono added "A group calling themselves the Sons of the Harpy have begun attacking your troops and they have declared their intentions are to overthrow you and return things to the way they once were. They're mainly based in Yunkai but it's had an effect in Astapor as well. The council you installed has been overthrown by a butcher named Cleon but he has still declared loyalty to you claiming the council was conspiring against you. Wheather it is true or not we do not yet know."
"How much of a danger are these Sons of the Harpy?" Aegon asked
"As of now small but some are of the freedmen are speaking against you because you are foreign to us." Hazrak replied
"Being foreign is an issue here." Galazza added "They don't see you as a liberated but as a conquer. Fear can make people make rash descions plus there is the issue of foregin intervention. Many of the cities in western Essos rely on trade with us. Volantis in particular won't be happy that you've taken over their biggest trade partner."
"Our former assossiates have told me that Volantis as well as Qohor seem to be more interested in trying to take over land in the Dothraki Sea." Gorys scoffed "Since the destruction of Vaes Dothrak, the Dothraki seem to have collapsed and more lands have been taken under control of warlords forming their own kingdoms."
"But that doesn't mean that the former slavers from these places would seek to renslave us." Morador hissed looking at Hazrak "The former Masters in us would like nothing more than to put us all back in chains! He's a Great Master, you can't trust him!"
"And what of you?" Hazrak snarled back "When your lot rose up during the siege your folks killed indiscrimantly. You also raped many woman and butchered them and you called us monsters for what my former assossiates did with those children!"
"Alright enough both of you!" Aegon snapped "Your all here to advise me on ruling here but I can't rule if my council keeps fighting with each other. I will end this barbaric practice of slavery but I need to show the people that I am not like the former rulers and I care about them. How can I do that?"
"Well one thing I will say is to reopen the fighting pits." Hazrak suggested
"You mean where you putted us against each other!" Morador snarled "Where you forced us to kill each other."
"I didn't mean it like that." Hazrak protested "I mean reopen them but with some new rules. The pits have been a big tradition here and unlike your Westeros place, people love the fighting here. It's more than just entertainment, it's a sport here plus it would help calm some of the people down a bit plus it also grants work for people. Many former people were put out of work and are turning to crime. They've even begun to set up underground rings."
"It's true." Grey Worm stated "We've busted several underground fighting rings where children were being fed to wild animals."
"Reopening the pits will help stop that as they will see no need for them." Hazrak stated "And these new rules may not make everyone happy but they won't turn to the Sons of the Harpy."
"What new rules are you thinking about?" Aegon asked
"Well in the old pits, anything went. Untrained slaves were used as slaughter for beasts and trained fighters but you can put rules that say that only trained fighters and volunteers can fight. A ranking system can help match people together. I know a guy who can help with that, his name is Owyn."
Aegon thought for a few moments "I need to think about all of this. I'll let you know about my descion tomorrow." The council began to leave but Aegon called for Jon to stay behind "I would like your opinion on all this Jon."
"I don't like the idea of forcing people to fight each other to the death but Hazrak does have a point." Jon admitted "You are foreign here and not everyone likes it with our difference beliefs and ideas. Your ancestor had that issue when he first conquered Westeros. It took until Jahererys until Targaryen rule was widely accepted. Reopening the pits with some new rules may help ease some nerves but I doubt it will work forever. There will always be people against you, it will take more than just the rule of one man to change things forever around here."
"Maybe you're right." Aegon said walking towards the balcony "I need some time alone to think. And try not to let Visenya know about any of this yet. She will try to get me to just kill every Master in the cities. I need change, not bloodshed."
"Understood your Grace but you will have to tell her at some point." Jon replied and walked away.
Unknown Location:
Manimarco, the King of Worms, sat in a large hall with his top allies ready to discuss their plans for fulfilling the will of Lord Molag Bal. Among his allies consisted of the Champion of Molag Bal, Ramsay Snow, Lord Harkon of the Volkihar Vampire Clan, Rada al-Saran leader of the leader of the Greymor Clan and his mistress Lady Belain. The final member of the group was mother Ciannait, matriarch of the Icereach covern of witches.
"We have learnt a lot about how we will lauch our plan of invasion." Manimarco stated "We cannot just focus on using our powers like the Mythic Dawn did. They only focused on opening oblivion Gates and launching an invasion. We need to do more than just that."
"And how do we do that?" Rada asked "I mean this Westerosi King is already aware of us and even with how weakened they are thanks to the Mythic Dawn, they might still be ready for us."
Harkon has a suggestion "Well maybe overcoming the Tyranny of the Sun will help us with that." He suggested
Rada groaned "Not that stupid prophecy again. We need three Elder scrolls to know it from what we learnt before and two of them from what we heard are in the possession of the king and they're both locked up in secure places that not even the best thief would dare enter."
Cinnait had a suggestion "Well, maybe we don't have to sneak in, maybe we can just break in." she said "I've been in contact with some of the mountain clans in the Vale near where Cloud Ruler Temple is. According to them, they've come across some kind of ancient technology located in some ruins in the Vale. They apparently come from a race called the Dwemer."
"The dwarves?" Manimarco stated "They always had technology more advanced than any other race but only they could control it. Such tools could be useful to us."
"And how do we control them?" Rada asked "The dwarves disappeared long ago."
"There are two people who know more about the dwarves." Belain stated "Calcelmo a scholar who's currently in King's Landing and some mage by the name of Arniel Gane whose location is unknown though I've heard that our prisoner knows him personally."
"I'll question him myself about his location." Ramsay smirked "But one more idea, maybe we need to distract the king by getting his attention focused elsewhere. I've recently come into contact with someone who has interest in launching his own invasion to create his own kingdom. Maybe we can use him to distract the King while we focus elsewhere."
"Good idea." Manimarco stated "But for now we need to secure those notes. With the King's Wedding coming up, we can use that distraction to get the notes. No point in going after the king, he will be under heavy guard but we should be able to get the notes we need from this Calcelmo."
"Understood." Belain stated "I'll go to King's Landing as a wedding guest and find those notes."
King's Landing: Small Council Chambers:
"There is still nothing big going on in the Seven Kingdoms for now." Grandmaester Ebrose said at the small council meeting where all of the councillors and the king had gathered "Right now everyone has gathered for the wedding."
"Are you really sure you want the wedding held at the Temple of the Divines your Grace?" Oberyn Martell asked "I mean I'm not religious but the Faith won't be too happy about that."
"I've been hearing that a lot." Martin spoke up "But I have made my choice, I will not marry in a religious establishment I do not agree with. Let the new High Septon moan about it but remind him of the Sparrows if he gets any ideas."
"Speaking of those fanatics, I have had some information about them." Varys stated "It would seem that they tried to establish their own settlement on Essos, it did not last long, they were too easy a target for slavers. The entire organisation was destroyed or enslaves."
Martin did not really care about them "The Sparrows are no longer my problem anymore. They made their choice and they have to live with the consequences. Right now I'm more focused on the present like with the wedding and with the threat that this Worm Cult represents."
Master of War Randyll Tarly had returned to King's Landing to take his position after the Mythic Dawn war. He had been tasked with preparing the kingdoms for the war with the Worm Cult, after the destruction of Oldtown, many people now knew the dangers of these Daedric Cults but in order to avoid mob violence, Martin had endorsed a new movement whose job it was to hunt down Daedric worship. They were known as the Vigilantes, an order made up of worshippers from the Old Gods, the Faith of the Seven and the Nine Divines. They had one goal, to look for Daedric worshippers and cults and eliminate them or find out information. They did have oversight from the Master of War since it would be dangerous to have them running wild.
"We've not heard much really about the Worm Cult." Randyl stated "The only news I've heard of importance is that one of the Vigilante's operators Tyranus has vanished after chasing a lead. It could be something but it could also be nothing."
"I don't like this at all." Martin admitted "It means that the Worm Cult will be planning something big and I don't want to be caught unaware."
"Let us handle that." Delphine stated "You for now should enjoy the upcoming wedding."
Elsewhere: Red Keep:
Farengar Secret-Fire sat in a chair by a table with a number of books surrounding him. Most of these books were old and mainly talked about the ancient dragons, not the dragons from the Valyrian Freehold but the ones from the so cold Mythic Age or the Dawn Age, a time from before recorded time and where the history is little more than legends. These dragons were said to have been able to talk and they had their own language which has been lost. Farengar had dedicated himself to rediscovering these lost secrets and had been able to learn more about the language.
These ancient dragons once ruled over the people of the world as Gods and had major priests who were like kings. These priests had special masks which both granted them special powers and marked their positions. Farengar had managed to rediscover the location of one of the masks and had managed to lead an expedition into this location, an ancient monastery called Forelhost which was said to have been the last stronghold of the Dragon Cult after the humans rebelled and overthrew the dragons killing the majority of them. The surviving dragons would eventually become the dragons of the Valyrian Freehold but they lost their language.
The expedition into Forelhost had uncovered a lot of ancient history. The ruin had crumbled over time but they still managed to make it through despite having to fight ghosts as the ruins were haunted. This had been because rather than surrending to an army led by a warrior called Skorn Snow-Strider, a general under the Great King Harald, an ancient king who some said may have been an ancestor of the Starks, they had decided to commit mass Suicide instead.
The team had found a garden growing underground which was full of Deathbell flowers, a poisonous plant that was said to grow where death had taken place according to folklore. These purple bell like flowers had been placed into Forelhost's water supply and poisoned anyone who drank it. They had even discovered a mass grave full of the bodies of children so no one had been spared by this. It was hard for everyone to see this. Further on, they discovered another lost secret of the Mythic Age, the Nordic puzzle doors. These special doors required a claw like key to open and had three rings that must be aligned with the symbols on the claw. They had found such a key in the ruins made from a combination of moonstone and malachite which had unlocked the door and allowing them into the burial chamber of the head priest himself, a man called Rahgot who was the one who ordered the wells to be poisoned. They had taken his mask and staff and then they finished the expedition and left
It was not long after that expedition when Farengar had met Daenerys and then lost the staff and mask when the Mythic Dawn had attacked Vaes Dothrak. Now he had the two items back and was ready to work on his book which would talk about all the history he had discovered at Forelhost. He hoped to follow the book with more about the dragon priests but with the undead rising beyond the wall, that wouldn't be likely for now.
There was a knock at the door and Farengar put his quill down and opened the door to see Daenerys standing there. "Farengar." She greeted "I hope I didn't disturb you."
"Nonsense my friend." Farengar replied "You'll always welcome to talk with me. Sorry about the mess, I've been doing lots of note taking to prepare with writing my own tome on the dragon priests now that I have my artefacts back."
Daenerys looked at Rahgot's mask which was sitting on the table. It was a bright green colour and seemed to have been made with orichalcum, a mineral mostly used by the race of elves known as the Orcs. She also looked at the notes which contained some carvings which were the words of the dragon language which was written in the style of claw marks.
"Is that the ancient dragon language?" Daenerys asked
"It is." Farengar replied "Blades Loremaster Esbern allowed me to look through some books, he's probably the one person who knows more about the language than me. But even he doesn't know the entire language. Hopefully one day I can publish the entire language. It's a lost language and it would be fantastic to rediscover it. Even my old friend Calcelmo is in on the idea. He's been working hard on the ancient Falmer language. He told me he found an ancient table that has the entire language so he hopes to publish it as well."
"Will my dragons may reuse this ancient language?" Daenerys asked
Farengar sighed "I doubt it, at least in full. These dragons are not the same dragons as they were before. The dragons changed drastically between the Mythic Age and the Valyrian Freehold. It's just like the Snow Elves, centuries of slavery and blindess changed them from normal elves into twisted creates like we saw at those ruins in Essos. Now they're little more than savage feral creatures. Though there is a possibility that their descandants will."
"Martin told me that his dragons know a few words of the language such as Fire and Frost breath shouts." Daenerys questioned "Why is that?"
Farengar thought for a moment "Well, Esbern recently came across a book that spoke about the Akaviri Dragonguard and it spoke about the discovery of dragons in Sothoryos by a member called Macea. Esbern's trying to find out more about who Macea was but some records say that she was actually a Targaryen. It was said that she hid a number of dragon eggs from a talking dragon she encountered. Maybe when I find out more about her, I will tell you about her."
"I would like to hear that myself." Daenerys smiled "What about these dragon priests."
"Well these beings were powerful but that worries me a lot." Farengar replied "With the Dragur rising beyond the Wall, the Dragon priests may return as well as judging how powerful stories say they were, they may be trouble for us."
Beyond the Wall: Forstfang Mountains:
Benjen Stark's hald undead status allowed him to blend in with the shadows and hide from the undead forces of the White Walkers. He aimed to use his new abilities in order to try and help gather information on the enemy and help prepare everyone for the war ahead. He had been tracking a group of White Walkers through the Frostfang mountains and soon he came across what seemed to be an old tomb built into a mountain. Once he entered, he walked through the door and he was shocked to see a ghost.
"Leave stranger." The ghost ordered "Evil stires here, an evil which is about to be released."
Benjen was shocked to see a ghost that talked "Who are you and what is this place."
"This is Valthume, the tomb of Hevnoraak." The ghost replied "I am Valder, the warrior who defeated Hevnoraak and sealed him away in the tomb forever. Until now that is."
"What do you mean?" Benjen asked
"Evil creatures came and I was powerless to stop them." Valder replied "For thousands of years I have been here to stop Hevnoraak from escaping his prison but my power has been weakening and I was unable to stop this new undead army from escaping. I sense the undead in you but you don't have the corruption. The went into the tomb and found Hevnoraak's vessels, the vessels that contain the blood that he drained for a ritual to make himself immortal. Now he will have his wish."
Benjen was worried, he had to see this. So against Valder's wishes he went deeper into the tomb and very quickly, he found the White Walkers as well as draugr surrounding a tomb. There was also a strange create that was floating in the air with a torn red cape and a kind of armour made from golden scales that covered the upper body but had no legs and was levitating. Benjen watched as some wignts began bringing through large glass bottles which were emptied into a basin just in front of the throne. Then lightning shot out from four pillars that surrounded the tomb and Benjen watched as the tomb lid flew off an another one of those floating creatures rose up from the grave and let out a roar only this one had a grey mask while the other one had no such mask. The creature slowly came lower and face the other creature similar to it.
Benjen watched as the two creatures began talking to each other in a language that Benjen didn't understand.
Valder appeared behind him "So Hevnoraak has allied with this new undead." He whispered to Benjen so they would not be heard "And it would seem that Rahgot is also with them. If that's the case then I can only suspect that the other priests will join them as well. You should warn your people of this threat."
"How many cretaures like this are there?" Benjen whispered
"They're Dragon Priests." Valder replied "They ruled over us ancient people like kings when the dragons were gods. They served the World Eater Alduin and he rewarded them with life after death. Now the World Eater is about to return and this is his new army. There are many of them but there are at least nine of them. Six of them are located here in this mountain range but one is further south and two of them are lost. You have to warn them and try to find people who may know where they are. These creatures must be slain before they can join these creatures."
Benjen knew he had to get back to the Wall and warn the Night's Watch and the Dawnguard about this threat and so he quickly went back to the tomb's entrance and got on his horse and rode away as quickly as he could.
Chapter End:
Notes: Well here it is. Almost a year since I decided to take a break from this story, I'm back with a new chapter. Now we're into the Worm Cult storyline which will be the last storyline before we get to the Long Night. There was actually going to be another storyline regarding Alessia and travelling to Sothoryos but I decide to cancel that but elements of those ideas will be incorporated into a new story I'm planning which will be a House of the Dragon crossover with Elder scrolls set in the same story as this one. The destruction of the Sparrows in Essos was actually going to be shown in the old cancelled storyline where the heroes would have discovered the remains of the Sparrow settlement in Sothoryos. Also my break away from this story has allowed me to get more ideas from the Morrowind game such as the Numidian and the tribunal so those would be ideas I plan on bringing in though I will probably be borrowing ideas from some Skyrim mods as well such as the Moon and Star mod for Skyrim and there will be a few elements from the High Isle chapter from ESO but not the location or story, mainly just some characters in order to introduce a new minor faction which may have some role in the new crossover story.
