Hey, this is Solangelo13, and I am just trying this type of story out because I have read some really good ones like this. Please tell me what you think and enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson and the Olympians. All of the stuff from the series is owned by the amazing Rick Riordan. Anything you don't recognize is my own invention.
Will POV
I walked into my English class with my two friends, Lou Ellen and Cecil. We were about to sit at our usual seats when Lou Ellen pointed to the board.
"No," she whined. "We're not next to each other anymore."
Sure enough, when I looked at it, there was a new seating chart on the board. I saw Cecil was now at the middle of the front row, Lou Ellen was in the middle on the right, and I was in the far-left corner in the back. The only person back there to talk to was the shy kid that has never talked before. When I say never, I mean when we had to do our book presentations in front of the class he just refused to go up when his name was called and was just fine with getting a zero.
"I got the literal worst seat in the class," Cecil moaned. "Now how am I going to text people in class without the teacher knowing?"
"Stop complaining, Cecil," I said. "At least when we do partner projects, you're next to Jason Grace; he's smart. He'll do everything for you. Look who I'm next to."
Cecil read from the board, "Nico Di Angelo. Good luck with that. Ya know, I feel a lot better about where I'm sitting now," he said as he sat in his new seat.
So, I walked back there and sat in my seat just as the bell rang and the teacher walked in.
"So, class. Looks like everyone found their news seats just fine," Mr. Blofis said as he looked around the room.
"The reason you are in new seats is because we are doing a class project. It is a project on Greek Mythology. Each group will be assigned a god or goddess, and you must make a PowerPoint on that deity and present to the class. I will give you class time for a few days, but there is a good chance that you will not finish and will need to find time after school with your partner to do that. I will come around now with a piece of paper for each group. Also, you will be working with your shoulder partner, so there will be no picking groups. This is due next Friday."
When Mr. Blofis came around with the slip of paper, I took one and unfolded the one that said Aphrodite.
That's... great.
I turned to Nico and said, "We got Aphrodite."
"Oh, you need an atlas?" he responded.
"No, I said we got Aphrodite," I said a little louder.
"Oh, you got a parking ticket?" he said back.
Now I knew he could hear me and was just trying to be difficult for some reason, and honestly this was the first time I had ever heard him talk before.
I tried again, "I sai..."
"HUH?" he said loudly
I responded loudly "I SAID W..."
"HUH?" He said again. "I can't verbally hear you."
I looked across the room to see my classmate Frank Zhang giving me a pitying glace. Frank had been forced to be Nico's partner on the last project, and I could see from his look that Nico had done the whole 'pretending he couldn't hear' thing with him too. I remembered the look of panic on Frank's face when Nico refused to get up and do the presentation. That's going to be me next Friday, isn't it? I looked at the paper saying the name of the Greek goddess of love and at Nico di Angelo, who wasn't even paying attention to anything and was just staring blankly out the window.
I could already tell that this was going to be a fun week (note the sarcasm).
That wraps up Chapter 1. There will be more to this story. Thank you all for reading, and please review!
