Title: Dead in the Water

Opening up on the ocean floor, 'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' (Level: 10/ATK: 3200/DEF: 2800), 'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' (Level: 12/ATK: 3000/DEF: 2000), 'Black-Winged Dragon' (Level: 8/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1600), and 'Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower' (Level: 7/ATK: 2600/DEF: 2000) all prepared to face 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' (Level: 10/ATK: 2900/DEF: 1600) and 'Gishki Marker' (Level: 4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200).

"So, what are you going to do, James? How will you defeat my 'Earthbound Immortal'?" questioned Shani (LP: 1200).

"Mmm…" murmured James R. (LP: 1700), before focus went towards 'Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower' as he revealed its first effect, "If this card is Synchro Summoned using a 'Blackwing' monster as material, it is treated as a Tuner while face-up on the field. Not much of an effect, I know, but, hey, whatcha gonna do?" He narrowed his eyes, "But it will definitely be 'Raikiri the Rain Shower' that will topple your 'Earthbound Immortal', Shani!"

Shani blinked, "Huh?"

"'Earthbound Immortal' monsters are unaffected by Spells and Traps, right?" recalled James R., "But they do have other weaknesses… Unless you control another monster, they can't protect you directly. They are also—well, do you know what that other weakness might be?"

"No way," gasped Shani, "They are vulnerable to monster effects!"

"You got that right," confirmed James R., "And I control a monster capable of toppling even a God!" He held his right hand up, "I activate 'Raikiri the Rain Shower's' second effect!" As he explained away, 'Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower' flew/swam towards 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' and 'Gishki Marker', stopped, and slashed both his wings to send shockwaves towards the enemy monsters, "Once per turn: I can target cards my opponent controls, up to the number of 'Blackwing' monsters I control; I must destroy them!"

The shockwaves looked like they would destroy Shani's monsters, but, just then, Shani appeared to grin at what he perceived as a predictable move.

"You idiot. Do you think I'm naive enough to forget my own 'Earthbound Immortal's' blind spots?" commented Shani.

"What?" blinked James R..

"I was 'waiting' for you to use 'Raikiri the Rain Shower's' second effect!" exclaimed Shani, "By doing something stupid like that, it's time to say goodbye to one of your strongest monsters!" Just then, his first Set card reappeared on the field behind Forbidden, "I activate a Continuous Trap, 'Savagery of the Immortals'!"

The card flipped face-up and revealed itself.

"Wh-What the-?!" cried James R..

"If an 'Earthbound Immortal' monster I control is targeted by an opponent's monster effect: I can negate the activation, and if I do, banish it, and if I do that, halve my opponent's LP, then I gain LP equal to their LP!" explained Shani, which caused 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' to let out a whale-like howl as it stopped the ripples from hitting it and 'Gishki Marker' before charging in retaliation towards 'Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower', "With your attack a failure, 'Raikiri the Rain Shower' will now be banished!" There was a deranged look in his eyes, "Disappear, 'Raikiri the Rain Shower'!"

'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' violently struck 'Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower', causing James R.'s monster to shatter into shards of glass.

"'Raikiri'-!" winced James R., before losing half of his LP (LP: 1700 → 850).

"Because your LP got halved, I gain that amount for my own use," bragged Shani (LP: 1200 → 2050), "Just admit it! You don't have a chance of defeating me, James! Just do me a favor and surrender!"

"Forget it!" refused James R., before smiling once more, "Besides, 'Raikiri the Rain Shower' isn't the only way I'll use to defeat your 'Earthbound Immortal'."

"What the hell are you talking about?" scowled Shani.

"I guess I'll just have to show you," shrugged James R., before holding up a card ('Blackwing - Chinook the Snow Blast') taken from his hand, "I activate the monster effect of 'Chinook the Snow Blast'!" He sent the card to the GY, causing another card ('Blackwing Tamer - Obsidian Hawk Joe') to emerge from the Extra Deck section of the Duel Runner—which was taken and placed in the GY, "I can send this card from my hand or field to the GY, then target 1 face-up monster my opponent controls; I must send 1 'Blackwing' Synchro Monster or 1 'Black-Winged Dragon' from my Extra Deck to the GY, and if I do," As he spoke on, appearing on the field for a short amount of time was the brown-feathered bird-like monster with large wings and what appeared to be orange hair, "until the end of this turn, the targeted monster loses 700 ATK, also negate its effects!"

"N-No fair!" complained Shani.

"I target your 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'!" declared James R., just as he gave the command to 'Blackwing - Chinook the Snow Blast', "Go forth, 'Chinook the Snow Blast'!"

'Blackwing - Chinook the Snow Blast' obeyed, flapping its big wings and sending a blast of hot wind towards 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua', striking and weakening the 'Earthbound Immortal' monster as it let out another whale-like howl while getting burnt by the wind-like attack and then receiving severe frostbite (ATK: 2900 → 2200).

"Normally, this wouldn't be a good thing since your monster is in Defense Position," reminded James R., before closing his eyes, "It would normally prevent any sort of attack from being made," He opened them again, "But all of its effects are negated now! Which means it can be attacked and defeated!"

"Damn you, and your 'Chinook the Snow Blast'!" cursed Shani.

"Battle!" cried James R., entering the Battle Phase, "It's time for your God to finally fall! Let's go, 'Black-Feather'!" As he gave the order, 'Black-Winged Dragon' flew towards the weakened 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' before stopping and charging its signature attack, "Destroy 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'! Noble Stream!"

'Black-Winged Dragon' obeyed and let off the blast, striking 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' and causing it to howl once more before exploding from its destruction. The backlash from the explosion was extremely powerful, but everyone and everything underwater was able to hold on.

(elsewhere…)

Back at the emergency shelter at New Haven, everyone looking out the window saw that the storm was beginning to calm itself.

"Can it be?" A woman uttered.

"Is the hurricane ending so soon?" An elderly man questioned.

"Did James defeat the 'Earthbound Immortal'?" thought Mr. Kisaka.

There was a lot of rejoicing going on, but the people remained cautious about the whole thing as they knew Mother Nature could be very fickle at times about the weather.

(elsewhere…)

Back under the sea, James R. was grinning while Shani was fuming over the loss of 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'.

"'Chacu Challhua' has been defeated," said James R. triumphantly, "Without it, you can't cause anymore destruction to the ocean nor New Haven! Prepare to lose the duel!"

"Heh! You wish," snorted Shani, causing James R. to flinch, "I activate the second effect of 'Savagery of the Immortals'!" Focus went towards the face-up 'Savagery of the Immortals' Trap Card as it shattered into shards of glass, preventing 'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' and 'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' from attempting an attack, "If an 'Earthbound Immortal' monster I control is destroyed by battle with an opponent's attacking monster and sent to the GY: I can send this face-up card to the GY; I must end the Battle Phase!"

"Well, there goes my victory," groaned James R..

"And there's more!" raged Shani, just as his remaining Set card reappeared on the field beside Forbidden (on its right), "I activate a Trap, 'Revival of the Immortals'! I must target 1 'Earthbound Immortal' monster in my GY; I must Special Summon it, but it cannot declare an attack this turn, also my opponent takes no battle damage from attacks involving it!"

Much to James R.'s horror, the whole ocean started to quake once more. Luckily, both Duel Runners were able to stay on the road without toppling over and/or crashing.

(elsewhere…)

Back on the surface, the heavy rain and high winds picked up power yet again, since it meant 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' was about to return and cause more havoc—probably worse than from before.

(elsewhere…)

Inside the emergency shelter, everyone looking out the window was shocked and dismayed that the hurricane had picked up in strength again. Ms. Simmons and Mr. Kisaka both, however, knew it was because Shani was about to revive his 'Earthbound Immortal' monster.

(elsewhere…)

Back under the ocean…

"I revive 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'!" called Shani.

The nearby ground exploded, sending debris everywhere as James R. had Skygrasper dodge them. Emerging from the nearby crater was 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua', who let out a whale-like howl of rage (Level: 10/ATK: 2900/DEF: 1600).

"Tch! So, it's back again," thought James R., "This is going to cause more danger to the sea, meaning I can't afford to waste anymore time lest a tidal wave big and strong enough is formed that will destroy New Haven," He remembered something about the enemy monster as focus went towards 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua', "But thanks to the seventh effect of 'Chacu Challhua', while it's in Defense Position, I can't conduct my Battle Phase… Darn it!" Without any choice, he entered the End Phase, "I end my turn!"

"The cost of 'Chacu Challhua' not being able to inflict battle damage because of "Revival of the Immortals" is of no hindrance to me!" Shani was gloating, who was having so much fun teasing James R., "You see, it can still deal heavy damage through its sixth effect!" He held both arms out, "On my turn, I will defeat you, James!"

James R. gritted his teeth in response.

(elsewhere…)

Back inside the emergency shelter…

"I wish we could go outside and check on the situation of the duel on our Murasames," noted Ms. Simmons.

"It would be too dangerous because of the weather," added Mr. Kisaka, "All we can do is hope that James is victorious soon, as the storm is getting worse by the minute."

(elsewhere…)

Back under the ocean…

"It's my turn!" screeched Shani, drawing a card.

Both players gained another Speed Counter:
-James R.: 5 → 6
-Shani: 1 → 2

Turn Seven: Shani Andras (LP: 2050)
Deck: 33
Current Hand (3): "Evigishki Soul Ogre", "Gishki Aquamirror", and "Gishki Psychelone"
Speed Counters: 2

Shani's drawn card was a Ritual Monster Card called 'Gishki Psychelone'—a card he needed to bring out one of his favorite Ritual Monsters. He added the card into his hand, then took and held another one ('Gishki Aquamirror') out.

"From my hand, I'll activate 'Gishki Aquamirror'!" began Shani, "This card can be used to Ritual Summon any 'Gishki' Ritual Monster. I must also Tribute monsters from my hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal the Level of the Ritual Monster I Ritual Summon!" Appearing on the field was a human-like female sea creature—which, along with 'Gishki Marker' faded away in a blue streak, "I Tribute the Level 4 'Gishki Marker' on my field and the Level 4 'Gishki Psychelone' from my hand!"

Another explosion of water ensued, soon revealing a huge, standing on two legs, aquatic monster with two, powerful-looking arms as a familiar Summon Chant from Shani ensued.

"At the ocean's depth lies a gate, leading to a deeper abyss. Messenger of terror, embrace the unrivaled pressure of Mother Ocean!" chanted Shani, "Ritual Summon! Come out! Level 8! 'Evigishki Soul Ogre'!"

Now back on the field again, 'Evigishki Soul Ogre' snarled and prepared for battle (Level: 8/ATK: 2800/DEF: 2800).

"Next, I'll activate the second effect of 'Gishki Aquamirror'!" continued Shani, as he placed a card ('Gishki Aquamirror') back into Deck, causing it to shuffle automatically, "I can shuffle this card from the GY into the Deck, then target…" He held up another card ('Gishki Psychelone') for two seconds, then placed it back into his hand, "…1 'Gishki' Ritual Monster in my GY; I must add it to my hand," From there, despite knowing it was a risk, he made another move regarding 'Evigishki Soul Ogre', "I also activate 'Evigishki Soul Ogre's' monster effect! Once per turn: I can discard 1 'Gishki' monster, then target 1 face-up card my opponent controls; I must shuffle that target into the Deck."

"Come on, man, you'd risk taking more damage from 'Black-Feather Assault' just to send 'Black-Feather' back into the Extra Deck?!" berated James R..

"Who cares so long as it ensures my victory?!" hollered Shani, as 'Evigishki Soul Ogre' started summoning water, "Extreme Tidal Surge!"

'Evigishki Soul Ogre' obeyed, sending the massive amount of water across the ocean floor, striking 'Black-Winged Dragon' and causing it to dissolve into specs of dust.

"Grr… Fine, I see how it is! You want damage? I'll give you damage!" exclaimed James R., just as 'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' let out a roar as more of the feathers on its wings changed color, "I activate 'Black-Feather Assault's' first effect! Damage Absorb!"

'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' let loose the affected feathers, striking Forbidden and causing Shani to grimace and receive more damage (LP: 2050 → 1350).

"That was nothing!" boasted Shani, quickly recovering, "That's because 'this' is the turn you will finally lose, even if 'Chacu Challhua' can no longer inflict battle damage!"

"How?" frowned James R., "Even if you use the sixth effect of Dark Dive Attack and it successfully went through, I'll only take 800 damage and still have only 50 LP remaining!"

"We'll see about that," smirked Shani, "I activate the third effect of 'Savagery of the Immortals'!" That declaration caused James R. to gasp wordlessly. He then held up a card ('Savagery of the Immortals') taken from his GY, "During my Main Phase: I can banish this card from my GY, then target 1 'Earthbound Immortal' monster I control; I must…" Focus went towards 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' "…switch its ATK/DEF, until the end of this turn!"

"No, it can't be!" panicked James R..

"I target 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua', switching its DEF with its ATK!" The voice of Shani went on, as 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' gained a stronger DEF than normal (ATK: 2900 → 1600/DEF: 1600 → 2900). He smiled like a shark, "'Chacu Challhua' now has 2900 DEF! Half of that amount is 1450, and you only have 850 LP left," As he (Shani) rambled about his supposed victory, James R. listened before gritting his (James R.) teeth (LP: 850), "meaning that without 'Black-Winged Dragon' and its Damage Drain, Dark Dive Attack will put an end to your miserable life!" The light green-haired boy then uttered what would become his most infamous quote, "Do it, 'Chacu Challhua'. Create the biggest tidal wave America will ever see in its lifetime!"

Howling, 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' started swimming around in a very quick and violent manner. James R. didn't know what was going on, but knew it wasn't a good thing.

(elsewhere…)

Back on the surface, 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua's' rampage was forming a massive tidal wave. It soon began moving slowly towards the beach of New Haven, aiming to wipe out most, if not all, of the coastal city and kill everyone there.

(elsewhere…)

Inside the emergency shelter, the massive tidal wave could be seen out the window, and the people present were panicking hard over it. Ms. Simmons and Mr. Kisaka were trying their best to calm everyone down, but they weren't having much success. They were also hoping that James R. would win the duel before it was too late.

(elsewhere…)

Back on the ocean floor, 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' went on with its rampage as it destroyed rock structures while James R. watched angrily. Shani, on the other hand, was laughing up a storm over what he was doing.

"Bastard! You're finally going down today!" cackled Shani, just about to activate his ace monster's sixth effect again, "I activate-!"

"I won't let you destroy New Haven or hurt anyone there!" interrupted James R., "Go, 'Black-Winged Assault Dragon'!"

"What? What are you up to?" questioned Shani.

"The second effect of 'Black-Feather Assault' activates," announced James R., closing his eyes, "During my opponent's turn (Quick Effect): I can Tribute this card with 4 or more Black Feather Counters on it; I must…" Opening them again, there was a fierce, fiery determination in them, "…destroy all cards on the field!"

Shani's lone eye twitched upon hearing that effect, and he helplessly leaned back in his seat and screamed in rage and terror. It was then that 'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' flew towards 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'. All of the damaged feathers on its wings began to glow as though it was energy being stored up for an attack, which it had been.

"Let 'em fly, 'Black-Feather Assault'!" ordered James R., "Black Assault Burst!"

'Black-Winged Assault Dragon' roared loudly and exploded into a burst of rainbow-based power, taking every single card ('Black Whirlwind', 'Black Feather Whirlwind', 'Evigishki Soul Ogre' and 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua') on the field with it. 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' was hit by the energy and stopped its rampage to roar in agony before melting away and leaving Shani without any card on his field.

(elsewhere…)

Back on the surface, the hurricane raged on as the massive tidal wave continued to approach the shores of New Haven. However, due to 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua's' ultimate defeat, it began to weaken slowly but surely.

(elsewhere…)

Back underwater…

"This isn't possible," whispered Shani, "'Chacu Challhua' was defeated…" He became infuriated over it, "Dammit! I was supposed to win this time!"

As the smoke from the destruction of all other cards on the field remained behind, Forbidden, Skygrasper, and, to Shani's surprise, 'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' burst out as the duel went on.

"What?! 'Onimaru the Divine Thunder' survived?!" cried Shani.

"He sure did," smiled James R., as 'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' soared beside him, "It's thanks to his second effect… It cannot be destroyed by card effects!" He narrowed his eyes and lost his smile, "That was your last turn, Shani!"

"I…end my turn," finished Shani.

Both Duel Runners raced through the geoglyph on the ocean floor as James R. and Shani gained a final Speed Counter:
-James R.: 6 → 7
-Shani: 2 → 3

"It's my turn!" began James R., drawing a card, "Draw!"

Turn Eight: James R. Hogan (LP: 850)
Deck: 41
Current Hand (2): "Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind" and "Blackbird Close"
Speed Counters: 7

His drawn card was a Trap Card called 'Blackbird Close'. Adding into his hand, he took another card ('Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind') and prepared to play it.

"Here I go, Shani! As much as I could use 'Onimaru the Divine Thunder' to finish you off, I have something far better in mind!" boomed James R., before placing the card onto his Duel Runner, "I Summon 'Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind'!"

Appearing onto the field was the small bird-like creature with three sets of black and white wings, three feathery tails, and a red hairdo (Level: 3/ATK: 0/DEF: 1600).

"I activate 'Onimaru the Divine Thunder's' third effect!" replied James R., just as a card ('Blackwing - Hillen the Tengu-wind') emerged from the abyss (GY), "I can target 1 'Blackwing' monster in my GY; this card's Level becomes the same as that monster's!" Focus went towards 'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' as the spirit of the 'Blackwing - Hillen the Tengu-wind' Effect Monster Card briefly appeared on the field before merging with him and modifying his Level (Level: 12 → 5), just as he and 'Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind' took off towards the surface, "Level 5 'Onimaru the Divine Thunder' tunes Level 3 'Ghibli the Searing Wind'!"

'Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder' turned into five massive Synchro Rings, which 'Blackwing - Ghibli the Searing Wind' flew into before turning into three orbs of light as a familiar Summon Chant was heard throughout most of the sequence.

"Darkened gales, reveal hidden wishes on your wings!" chanted James R., as the symbols 3 + 5 = 8 were shown briefly before the three orbs of light within the five Synchro Rings turned into a massive beam of light, which slammed onto Skygrasper on the ocean floor, "Synchro Summon!" It was then the beam started bursting apart as white-feathered wings and the tail feathers of a familiar Dragon monster were shown appearing, "Soar, 'Black-Winged Dragon'!"

With its eyes briefly glowing red, 'Black-Winged Dragon' let out a screeching roar in the ocean floor to signal it had arrived once more (Level: 8/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1600). Suddenly, as soon as it finished appearing, 'Black-Winged Dragon' started to fly out of the sea.

"Wait!" cried Shani, "Where's your monster going?!"

(elsewhere…)

On the surface, as the hurricane was beginning to end for good, 'Black-Winged Dragon' burst out of the water until it was facing the control tower Shani was assigned to guard.

(elsewhere…)

Back underwater…

"Prepare for the end, Shani!" threatened James R., "This is for Mayura!" He entered the Battle Phase, "Do it, 'Black-Winged Dragon'! Attack the opponent directly! Noble Stream!"

(elsewhere…)

Back on the surface, 'Black-Winged Dragon' overheard its master and obeyed the order without hesitation. It opened its beak and fired off a devastating dark flame-like breath, striking the control tower until it burst through the other end of the structure. A few seconds later, the tower started to spark and explode.

(elsewhere…)

Back underwater, the lower part of the control tower was crumbling from being destroyed, and Shani was too stunned to pay any attention to it because he was far more focused on the fact he lost the duel (LP: 1350 → 0).

DUEL RESULTS: James R. Hogan wins!

Suddenly, he felt a shadow growing over him. Looking up, he saw that a large piece of debris from the control tower's destruction was falling towards him. With his only shown eye widening, Shani screamed as he and his Duel Runner were crushed by the debris, killing him for good.

(elsewhere…)

Back on the surface, the tidal wave was nearing the shore, but had lost so much of its size and power that it splashed onto the beach, but not causing any significant collateral damage. The hurricane had finally subsided as well due to the final defeat of 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua'. It meant New Haven was safe and sound.

(elsewhere…)

Back at the emergency shelter, everyone inside looked out the windows and found the wind and rain weakening significantly, leaving them to wonder if they really were going to be alright after all. It helped that the weird geoglyph in the sky near the ocean had disappeared.

(elsewhere…)

Back under the ocean, James R. opened his mouth to cheer when his eyes suddenly widened and he brought both hands to his mouth as he started sputtering for breath. With the duel finally over, he was no longer protected by being inside the geoglyph, meaning he was going to drown. However, just before James R. could breathe his last breath, the spirit of 'Black-Winged Dragon' suddenly swooped in and rescued both Skygrasper and its rider.

(elsewhere…)

Seconds later, 'Black-Winged Dragon' emerged from the ocean with a mighty *SPLASH!* and into the clearing sky as the sun rays began to peek from the dark clouds. Collapsed slightly on the dashboard of Skygrasper, James R. weakly looked up and saw 'Black-Winged Dragon' carrying him and his Duel Runner in its talons.

"'Black-Winged…Dragon'," muttered James R., clearly exhausted and injured. He then saw a faded image of Mayura smiling at him in the sky, "Thank you, Mayura…" Despite what was wrong with him, he smiled back, if a little wearily, "We did it… Together, we won our most difficult fight ever…"

The brown-haired young man made it no further, as he finally passed out on his way to where Ms. Simmons and Mr. Kisaka were currently waiting.

(elsewhere…)

Somewhere in Northern New York, Michael was still on his way to the border with Canada when he felt his birthmark cease glowing—this time it was in a good way.

"James…" thought Michael, "Did you win against a Dark Signer?"

(elsewhere…)

In another part of New York, Carlie was still riding on Bloody Kiss with Paul and Maria following in their police car, heading for the city of Syracuse. She, like Michael, sensed her birthmark had stopped glowing in a good way.

"James defeated a Dark Signer," thought Carlie, before closing her eyes with relief, "Thank goodness."

(elsewhere…)

Meanwhile, David, Lisa, Sherry, and Shinji had to make a stop at a gas station somewhere in the state of New York to refuel their Duel Runners. As they were waiting, Sherry was inside paying for the gas, Shinji was silently sipping on a soda he purchased while standing beside Killer Wasp, while Lisa and David were still seated on Akatsuki and The Wild Card observing their respective birthmarks (David: Dragon's Heart, Lisa: Dragon's Hand) as they stopped glowing.

"This time there wasn't anything wrong," noted Lisa.

"Hogan-kun must have won his duel," figured David.

(elsewhere…)

Inside the hideout of the Dark Signers, a disappointed Azrael was watching the Viewing Globe as it showed footage of Shani screaming and getting crushed by the debris of the destroyed control tower. When it was over, Azrael smiled grimly and shook his head.

"I guess being revived from the dead didn't help your skill," said Azrael coldly, as the Viewing Globe then showed footage of James R. and Skygrasper being rescued by 'Black-Winged Dragon' and emerging from the ocean, "Despite all of our best teachings at Blue Cosmos, you still lost," He turned away in disgust and walked to a nearby table, "You're a worthless abomination who never deserved to even exist in the first place, so good riddance to garbage like you."

Upon reaching the table, Azrael picked up his Deck and looked at it, remembering that both Orga and Clotho were the only members of the Biological CPU remaining. They would hopefully be successful in defeating Michael and Matt respectively.

"Then there's Misty," remembered Azrael, "Despite my faith in Orga and Clotho, I have more faith she will defeat Carlie."

(elsewhere…)

Somewhere in Syracuse, there was a control tower set up at an old, abandoned theme park. Where there was a control tower, there was also a Dark Signer. That Dark Signer was Misty Tredwell; she was waiting patiently for her opponent to arrive so she can win the duel and avenge Toby, her younger brother. Remembering Toby, Misty reached into her cloak and pulled out the familiar picture of him to look at.

"Ms. Carlie will be here soon," thought Misty, "When she does…" She looked up with determination in her eyes, "When we fight, I shall avenge you, Toby."

And, after pocketing the picture, she stood motionless in her spot, awaiting for the arrival of the 'Black Rose Witch'.

(elsewhere…)

Back in the hideout of the Dark Signers, Azrael placed his Deck back on the table and smiled evilly, clearly knowing a little something about Misty only he knew about.

(elsewhere…)

Darkness was all James R. could see as a result of his eyes being closed from unconsciousness.

"James… James, wake up," The voice of Ms. Simmons echoed soothingly.

James R. winced a little bit, although he managed to open his eyes. His vision was initially blurry, but it soon cleared up as he saw Ms. Simmons, Mr. Kisaka, and a doctor watching over him. The place he appeared to be in was an emergency shelter of sorts.

"Good, you're awake," acknowledged Mr. Kisaka.

James R. gasped upon seeing the two teachers of Orb and sat up too quickly, causing him to hiss in pain because a few of his ribs were broken due to the attack by 'Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua' causing him to crash. Looking down, James R. found himself shirtless with several bandages neatly wrapped around his upper torso and laying on an unoccupied bed. There were also some people remaining behind for a little longer just in case it wasn't safe to leave.

"Erica… Ledonir… Where am I?" wondered James R..

"Take it easy, James, you're still injured," reassured Ms. Simmons, briefly placing her hands onto James R.'s shoulders in an effort to get him to settle down, "As the storm seemed to end," As she explained what had happened not long ago, faded clips of it being described were superimposed over her, "we found 'Black-Winged Dragon' flying here with you and your Duel Runner. You were unconscious, so we brought you inside and tended to your injuries."

"You were able to defeat Shani and save the city from destruction," praised Mr. Kisaka, "We're very proud of you."

"Hehe… It's my pleasure," winked James R., rubbing the index finger of his right hand under his nose, "Even a Dark Signer can't beat 'James the Black Bullet' so easily."

Ms. Simmons, Mr. Kisaka, and the doctor each smiled and nodded in agreement.

(elsewhere…)

Meanwhile, Matt, Ashima, and Zack arrived in a small town just outside New York City. Driving around cautiously, they soon found the control tower up ahead.

"There it is!" called Ashima.

"No," frowned Zack, "This seems far too easy," As he stated something else, Ashima appeared to look surprised and worried, "There should be a Dark Signer around here."

Matt appeared to agree. Just then, he and his two friends overheard the loud roar of a very powerful Duel Runner. Clotho Buer, riding Raider in its MA Mode, soared in to meet with them. To the surprise of the three protagonists, Clotho looked more like a zombie than a human, having been revived through the power of Azrael. Freedom and Zack's Duel Runner both came to a stop before Raider followed suit. Both sides were glaring at the other.

"You're finally here, Matt," nodded Clotho, before smiling dangerously, "I'm glad," He was obviously taking in the new Duel Runner, Freedom, being ridden by his enemy, "I have to admit I'm rather surprised that Shani's sabotage has only slowed you down slightly," The smile left his face, "But nevermind that! This is the day you and I will settle the score!"

"Hmph! If you were hoping to face me while I no longer have access to Clear Mind and Accel Synchro, you're in for a rude awakening," responded Matt harshly, as Clotho listened carefully, "I won't be provoked by any wanton destruction like last time!"

Clotho's response to such a statement was bursting into quiet, then loud, laughter, much to Matt's frustration.

"Oh, just hearing you say that stupid crap, going on and on about how you'll never be provoked…" chortled Clotho, before becoming angry, "It pisses me off so much! There's no way you will not be able to resist temptation during our final battle—a fight that 'I'm' going to win!"

"Just shut up, alright?!" barked Zack.

"You and the remaining Dark Signers will pay the price for hurting our friends and other people for your own selfish goals!" agreed Ashima hotly.

"You're more than welcome to try," mocked Clotho, before addressing Matt one more time, "Now then, I think it's time for us to get started; we've wasted enough time talking."

Matt nodded in agreement, before looking nearby at Zack and Ashima to nod at them, letting them know to get to somewhere safe. Zack nodded back and, with Ashima still riding with him, took off for a safety zone to ensure they didn't get caught in the crossfire. Now alone, Clotho and Matt raised their respective right arms and caused their birthmarks (Clotho: Giant, Matt: Dragon's Head) to begin glowing as the familiar geoglyph was summoned, covering a good portion of the town as shown from the sky.

(elsewhere…)

Atop an overpass to watch everything were Zack and Ashima, and the former had activated the monitor on his Duel Runner to show everything going on about the duel.

"Matt… You and Clotho are finally going to settle things," uttered Zack.

"I wonder if he will be okay," fretted Ashima.

(elsewhere…)

Back at the hideout of the Dark Signers, Azrael was watching the Viewing Globe, which showed Matt and Clotho preparing to face each other.

"This time, Matt's up for a duel," commented Azrael, anticipating a good battle, "Let's see if Clotho can defeat the Ultimate Coordinator."

(elsewhere…)

Back with both Duel Runners outside the control tower in the small town, Clotho finished turning Raider back into its normal form while he (Clotho) and Matt glared at each other.

"It's time, Matt… It's time for our last duel to commence!" yelled Clotho.

"Bring it, Clotho!" dared Matt.

From there, both players pressed a button on the dashboard of their respective Duel Runners. On the monitors of Freedom and Raider, a whole new Spell Card materialized and activated.

"Duel Mode, engaged," came a computerized voice aboard the two, respective Duel Runners, "Manual Mode activated."

From there, both Duel Runners became surrounded by a purple dome.

"We all know the rules," recalled Clotho, "The one who takes the first corner gets to decide who has the first turn," He smiled viciously, "And that one will definitely be me."

"You haven't won yet!" retorted Matt, "Here we go, Clotho!" He revved Freedom up, "Turbo Duel!"

"Acceleration!" The voice of Clotho concluded, revving Raider up.

Both Duel Runners roared to life and took off. As powerful as Raider was, Freedom was shown to be much faster and stronger than Fudo Go ever was.

"His Duel Runner really has been powered up since last time," thought Clotho, as he revved Raider up further, "But I won't let you through!"

And he was right. Despite a very promising start by Freedom and its greater speed and power compared to Fudo Go. Raider ultimately passed and won the race to reach the corner first.

"See? I told you!" bragged Clotho, "Even though your Duel Runner is superior to your last one, nothing can beat the power of my Raider!"

"Just go," urged Matt, who wasn't in the mood for small talk, "Let's duel!"

Without saying anything back, Clotho drew a card and began the duel—the very last duel.

Turn One: Clotho Buer (LP: 4000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Infernity Destroyer", "Infernity Patriarch", "Infernity Inferno", "Infernity Barrier", "Infernity Dwarf", and "Infernity Enforcer"(!)
Speed Counters: 0

His drawn card was a Monster Card called 'Infernity Enforcer', a great card to use early on. However, he also needed to make sure his hand stayed empty. To that end, Clotho took two cards and readied them for a moment.

"I Set two cards!" announced Clotho, slotting the cards into his Duel Runner. On cue, two Set cards materialized on the field in-front of Raider before fading away for later use, and he then took and placed a card ('Infernity Enforcer') onto a Monster Zone, "And next, I'll Summon 'Infernity Enforcer'!"

Appearing on the field was a Fiend monster with blue hair and wearing a uniform of a red sleeveless shirt, blue jeans, a small brown vest, and a police hat, while his weapons in both hands was a chain and metal pipe (Level: 4/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1000).

"What the-?! Is that supposed to be a new monster?" gasped Matt.

"That he is," confirmed Clotho, before taking the rest of his hand, "I activate my monster's first effect!" He discarded the remaining three cards, "I can discard my entire hand; I must Set 1 'Infernity Doom Ritual'(!) from my Deck or GY, and if I do, this card becomes Level 7 until the end of this turn."

"Wait, did you say Ritual?" worried Matt, "Last I checked, you usually run a Synchro-heavy Deck!"

"My Deck has been upgraded to superior levels since our last duel!" revealed Clotho, before holding up a card ('Infernity Doom Ritual') taken from his Deck, "I Set 'Infernity Doom Ritual' from my Deck," He slotted his card into the Duel Runner, causing 'Infernity Enforcer's' Level to increase (Level: 4 → 7), "That means 'Infernity Enforcer's' Level rises to 7!"

"The Handless Combo is now complete," thought Matt, growing concerned with what was going to happen next, "And Clotho has Ritual added into his Deck. What will his new cards be like?"

"It's time for you to witness my new power first hand!" laughed Clotho, "I activate the Ritual Spell, 'Infernity Doom Ritual'!" The first Set card reappeared on the field, flipped face-up, and revealed itself. While explaining away, a faded image of his card was superimposed over him, "This card is used to Ritual Summon 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' from my Deck or GY. I must also Tribute and/or banish 'Infernity' monsters from my face-up field or GY, whose total Levels equal 7!" He gleefully grinned as he revealed another detail about his card, "If I have no cards in my hand when I activate this effect, the monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot be targeted by my opponent's card effects!"

(elsewhere…)

Back on the overpass, Zack and Ashima were dismayed by what they were seeing about Clotho.

"Swell, it's a new set of cards we have no knowledge of," grumbled Zack sarcastically.

(elsewhere…)

Back in the geoglyph, Clotho held his right hand out towards 'Infernity Enforcer'.

"I Tribute my Level 7 'Infernity Enforcer'!" he proclaimed.

The lone monster dissolved into dust, which was then absorbed into the fire walls of the geoglyph, causing them to swell and react as a new monster, which looked similar to 'Infernity Enforcer', made himself known. The monster wore similar clothing, but there were also scars and markings similar to a Dark Signer on his face, and he wore a hooded cloak. A Summon Chant from Clotho was also heard throughout the sequence.

"Within the infernal darkness, the enforcer of destruction that smashes all obstacles in its path is reborn through eternal hatred!" chanted Clotho, "Ritual Summon! Descend, 'Infernity Doom Enforcer'(!)!"

The new monster, 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' let out a frightening cackle as he stood and awaited further orders (Level: 7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 1000).

"2500 ATK…!" growled Matt.

"Gah ha ha ha ha! You see? My 'Infernity Enforcer' has Leveled Up into something so much stronger!" raged Clotho, cackling madly for a moment, "I activate 'Infernity Doom Enforcer's' second effect!" Focus went towards 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' as the monster took out the chain, turned, and threw it until it connected with his Deck, "If this card is Ritual Summoned: I can send cards from the top of my Deck to the GY, equal to the number of cards in my opponent's hand," He started to lose five cards ('Infernity Randomizer', 'Infernity Paranoia', 'Infernity Conjurer', 'This Creepy Little Punk', and 'Infernity Pawn') from his Deck, but didn't mind at all, "and if I do, until the end of the next turn, this card gains 100 ATK for each card sent to the GY by this effect!"

"I have five cards in my hand," realized Matt, as he watched 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' grow even stronger (ATK: 2500 → 3000), "That means you've sent five cards from your Deck to the GY, giving your monster 500 more ATK!"

"This new power is all thanks to Headmaster Azrael!" stated Clotho, "He supplied my Deck with these new cards, meaning he obviously has better faith in me defeating you than he has faith in Orga beating the 'Former King', or 'had' in Shani beating James!"

With gritted teeth, Matt seethed over hearing such a ridiculous thing from Clotho about Azrael supposedly having 'faith' in him (Clotho) to win.

"That's bull, Clotho!" snapped Matt.

"Huh?" wondered Clotho.

"Just listen to yourself! You foolishly believe Azrael has faith in you defeating me? Azrael is just using you and everyone else!" accused Matt, "He only cares about himself, and cares nothing for you, Orga, Shani, Misty, or the people he hurts!"

"Give me a break!" Clotho rebutted, clearly too insane to care any longer, "That man's obviously using me and my friends in any way he sees fit—but even so, he can do it as much as he wants because I just want to win duels, and keep winning them until I become satisfied!" As he rambled some more, Matt, Zack, and Ashima each listened to him, "As long as he gives me power, if he has to use me for his own goals, so be it," He resumed the duel as he spoke of another effect his 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' had, "'Infernity Doom Enforcer's' first effect! While I have no cards in my hand, this Ritual Summoned card cannot be destroyed by battle!"

Clotho snickered to himself, while Matt grew even more dismayed by what he was facing.

"Damn! As long as his Handless Combo remains, I can't destroy Clotho's 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' so easily," thought Matt, "And 'Infernity Doom Ritual' protects it from being targeted by my card effects! What am I going to do?"

Back at the overpass, Zack and Ashima had been watching most of Clotho's first turn play out, and they were dismayed, if a little impressed, on how he was able to bring out a Level 7 Ritual Monster and increase its ATK to 3000 in an instant—while also providing it cover for potential card effects used by Matt.

"Oh… 'Infernity Doom Enforcer' is going to be very difficult for Matty to defeat," admitted Ashima, "He's in for an extremely tough duel against Clotho if that Dark Signer has access to new and very overpowered cards we know nothing about."

"There's more," put in Zack, as several cards ('Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu', 'Infernity Doom Dragon', 'Void Ogre Dragon', and 'Hundred Eyes Dragon') were shown in his mind, "Clotho also has, in addition to the 'Earthbound Immortal' monster, access to terrifying Synchro Monsters with 3000 ATK and deadly effects such as 'Infernity Doom Dragon', 'Void Ogre Dragon', and especially the Dark Synchro Monster, 'Hundred Eyes Dragon'," His focus went towards the monitor, showing both Matt and Clotho engaging in voiceless banter, "All of that definitely makes him, right next to Azrael, Misty, and the late Rutger, the most powerful of the Dark Signers."

(elsewhere…)

In the geoglyph, Raider and Freedom turned a corner onto a new street as Clotho started to laugh insanely over how powerful he (Clotho) had become thanks to being given a second chance by Azrael.

"Now do you see, Matt?" called Clotho, "My new cards have made my Deck completely untouchable to even the strongest duelists around! You haven't taken your turn yet, but you're already in terrible danger!" While ranting, Matt listened in both concern and shock, "This time, I'm going to kick you into the middle of the inferno of vengeance from the depths of death! With the power of my 'Earthbound Immortal', that is!" He looked on ahead, "Now, let's continue the duel!"

And Clotho started to laugh madly once more, with it getting louder, more crazy, and more terrifying until the laughter was echoing all through the geoglyph of the Giant. With one Dark Signer in Shani defeated, another in Clotho was instead prepared to succeed. Would Matt be able to fight back against new, dangerous cards? Stay tuned to find out!

This time, Shani is down for the count. He's dead, and will not be returning. Now it's Clotho's turn, and he's gotten more and more deranged in his desire for revenge against Matt. He has some new and dangerous cards, too, meaning Matt will not have an easy time trying to win and destroying the control tower.
