Here's the next chapter. If you like to recommend any Pokemon (Kanto region for now) to join Charles' team or Flo or Alice, please leave a review. All of Charles' Pokemon and their names can be found on my profile.
djinn – Thanks so much. Yeah, I LOVE Eevee. They're so adorable. Not only that but Titania may be a hint to what eeveelution she will turn into.
Pokemonking0924 – Thank you for reviewing. I especially wrote that chapter just to spite Damian I mean come on he left charmander to die!
I thought it would be good to have somebody very strict on the team. Most of the other Pokemon are excitable and free spirited which is why I wrote Apollo that way. I'm planning for them to go to the growlithe training school, and we'll see a bit more of Apollo's background.
I love writing the hostile relationship between Titania and Fleur. It reminded me of how young Erza and Mirajane fought in Fairy Tail.
I suppose Krabby would be slightly larger than Ash's. If I remember from the anime, Gary's krabby was huge, so I'm not quite sure if it'll be that big.
Kunoici69 – Thank you for the name suggestion. I was honestly struggling to think of one that wasn't fire related (although thinking about it, Apollo was the god of the sun but never mind). As I said before, I wanted to write a Pokemon that was strict and based it of a character from a comedy radio show. I'm sure Apollo would loosen up. Eventually.
I adore Eevee. They don't come up nearly enough in the show and I can't wait to write more about her. I think you're right; I need to send back Hurricane. He hasn't had a break since chapter 6.
SkullGreymonX – Thank you so much. Damian was terrible. Again, he left charmander to die and it was only the eleventh episode! Also, nobody seemed to address why he had so many pokeballs with him, so I thought I mention that.
I love your suggestion and I will add it to the list. Thank you.
Guest – I suppose, but I doubt Benny would like the idea that he relates in anyway to Meowth. I plan for Meowth and Cleo to meet on the St. Anne and it would be…a very interesting meeting.
CandyQueen – Thank you for the idea. I too can't wait to write it.
I do have something planned in this chapter, so I don't think it's going to be a full beach episode, but I'll try my best.
Your Pokemon suggestions sound great. I never thought of Kangaskhan. That Pokemon still confuses me in terms of evolution though. I mean why can't their young evolve into an adult. Your suggestions have been added to the list.
Guest- Thank you your suggestion has been added to the list.
danielsnow – Hello, I'm happy to see all your reviews. I'm glad you are enjoying it so far.
Vulpix is definitely going to be part of the team. I just need to decide when. I'm not quite sure about legendary Pokemon since I don't really think that's Charles style. However, there are definitely going to be some moments where they meet the legends. Ash never seems to remember meeting legendary Pokemon, so it would be funny when people talk about them in awe and Charles just pulls a photo of him and that legendary and saying they were friends.
Dratini definitely. I added that to the list and I believe Venonat is also on the list as well.
Thank you all for reviewing.

Chapter 15: Beneath The Waves
It was a beautiful sunny day when the team reached a small seaside town. They took in the sandy beaches, the fresh sea air and the market and shops abuzz with activity excitedly.
"Wow! I haven't been to the beach in ages," Flo said happily as they walked down the seaside promenade.
"Me neither," Alice remarked, "we should at least stop here before we get to Vermillion City."
Charles nodded in agreement, "Yeah, the team have been training hard, I think they deserve a break."
("Can we buy a proper grooming kit,") Benny said from Charles's shoulder, ("sand in your fur is really annoying.")
"Sure," Charles said, "but after we pick up some supplies, we need to head to the Pokemon Centre. I need to send back Hurricane to the lab and probably Echo."
Flo stopped suddenly, catching the other's attention.
"Well, why don't you and Benny go to the centre while Alice and I go pick up the supplies. It would save more time for the beach," Flo suggested.
Charles and Alice nodded in agreement and so they parted ways.
After a while, Flo and Alice had picked up all the essentials including sunscreen, grooming kits for the Pokemon and towels. Now the two were in a clothing store, trying on sunhats.
"What about this one," Alice suggested as she picked up a yellow straw hat for Flo.
Flo inspected the hat critically, "I don't know, I think the straw would get annoying after a while" she said as she placed it back on the hat stand.
Alice looked again and picked up a red sunhat.
"And this one," Alice said, passing it to Flo.
Flo inspected it and placed it on her head. She looked in the small mirror that was provided.
"I don't think this hat will fit over my hair," she said, trying to pull the sunhat over her large ringlet hair.
As Alice glanced around to see if there was another hat her friend could wear, she spotted a row of swimsuits on the other side of the shop. She spotted an advert above the swimsuits displaying a lady wearing a bikini at a beach. Alice thought she looked so mature and cool, and her mind briefly wondered to Charles.
'I wonder if he would like to see me in that,' she thought before blushing up a storm, 'no. What am I thinking? Charles wouldn't care. The swimsuit I have is good enough.'
Alice congratulated herself in making a mature and reasonable decision and turned back to Flo who was still trying to fit the hat over her hair.
….
….
….
….
'I'll just look at them,' Alice thought as she sneaked away, 'there's no harm in that.'
Flo hummed to herself as she looked in the mirror.
"Maybe if I wear my hair in the Alola style it'll fit. What do you think Al-"she stopped when she turned and saw that her friend was no longer there.
Frowning in confusion, Flo placed the sunhat back and went to look for her.
Meanwhile, Alice was looking at a blue two piece swimsuit. She gulped nervously and looked around the shop to see if she was alone. With a trembling hand, Alice reached for the suit.
'I'll just try it on quickly,' she thought to herself as she began to pick up the suit of the rack.
"What are you doing?" a voice said behind Alice, making her yelp.
Alice spun around to see that Flo had found her. She had two hands on her waist and looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Err…I….was just browsing that's all," Alice stuttered, trying her best to look nonchalant.
Flo hummed and looked at the swimsuit in Alice's hand.
"Don't you think your too young to be wearing that?" she asked criticality.
Alice glanced in the swimsuit. She didn't realise she had picked it up. She was about to put it back and make an excuse when she registered what Flo said.
"Hey! I'm older than you," Alice retorted angrily.
Flo grinned, "Really? You don't look it," she teased, referring to how short Alice was compared to her and Charles.
Alice face turned red in anger and embarrassment.
There was one thing you should never mention to Alice if you value your life: her height.
"I'm not short! I'm still growing!" she cried angrily before she smirked at Flo, "I'm sure Charles would like me wearing it," she teased.
Flo growled and reached out for a pink bikini on the rack.
"And I'm sure Charles would like me wearing it as well," she retorted, much to Alice's shock.
Alice gripped harder to her swimsuit, "That's my idea! You can't steal it!"
Flo chuckled, "Oh really? Are you going to stop me?"
"No, but we will," said a cold voice, making the two girls stop in their tracks.
Alice and Flo slowly turned in horror to see a rather annoyed looking Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. Officer Jenny was just passing by the shop on her rounds when she spotted the altercation while Nurse Joy seemed to be shopping, judging by the basket in her arms.
The two adults stared crossly down at their younger family members, respectively. Obviously not thrilled by what they were saying.
Flo and Alice quickly put the swimsuits back on the rack and smiled sheepishly.
"Hi…we were just…just."
"Browsing," Alice helpfully suggested.
"Yes, browsing, that's all," Flo lamely finished.
"Alright then," Office Jenny said, intensely staring them down, "then why don't you browse in the more age-appropriate section of the store."
"Before we call both your mums and explain to them how their underage daughters were buying bikinis," Nurse Joy finished, equally as annoyed.
Alice and Flo gulped and shuffled back to the hat section.
The Beach
Later on, the team were playing on the beach and in the water.
Echo wasn't a fan of the beach and volunteered to go with Hurricane back to the lab. In his and Hurricane place, Charles retrieved Titania and Sneak.
Cleo was, as usual, napping on a towel under the parasol. She preferred a more relaxing beach day than an active one.
Benny was teaching Pyro and Sneak how to build sandcastles. Pyro's sandcastle was looking good, it even had a moat around it. Sneak's sandcastle, however, looked like a lumpy dome with a small leaf sticking out the top. Benny didn't want to crush the sandslash's spirit since he looked very proud of his creation.
Fleur and Lilly were playing in the water while Titania stood on the shore, making sure she was out of the way of the tide. The Fleur des Lis sisters were having fun and splashing each other with the water. However, a wayward drop of water thrown by Fleur hit Titania instead.
("Hey! What's the big idea splashing me!") Titania growled at the oddish, slamming her face against hers.
("I didn't splash you! Maybe if you head wasn't so much full of fur you wouldn't have been hit!") Fleur growled back as she pushed the side of her face against Titania.
("That makes no sense!") Titania counted.
("Neither does your fa-")
THWACK!
The two Pokemon fell face first in the water unconscious as a giggling Lilly stood over them.
("No fighting on such a lovely day, please") Lilly cheerfully said as she dragged the two out of the water.
("In the name of the law, I order you to stop!") Apollo shouted at Lilly, making the green oddish look at him curiously.
("What ever for?") Lilly asked innocently.
Apollo stood proudly before clearing his throat.
("You three are in violation of personal safety,") Apollo proclaimed, referring to Lilly and the knocked out Pokemon, ("You cannot not go swimming at least thirty minutes after eating. You are at risk of getting a cramp,") Apollo informed.
Lilly blinked, ("But we are no longer in the water,") she told him, causing Apollo to falter in realisation.
("And even if they were,") Alette said as she walked over, ("the half an hour rule is a myth.")
("It is?") Apollo asked in surprise.
Alette nodded.
("Right…well,") Apollo said his ears lowering in shame, ("carry on then,") he said before continuing his patrol.
Alette and Lilly watched Apollo as he walked away. Alette gave him a concerned look while smiled pleasantly but was also worried for him.
Charles, now wearing a pair of swimming trunks and a loose T-shirt, looked at all his Pokemon from under a parasol, chuckling at their antics.
"They seem to be having a good time," Charles commented before looking to his two friends, "are you sure nothing happened when I was gone?" he asked.
Flo and Alice seemed a little depressed since they met up again. They both wore the plain one-piece swimsuits they packed for the journey and were looking down at the sand in defeat.
"Yeah, we're fine," Flo mumbled in embarrassment.
"Nothing happened at all," Alice added, equally as humiliated.
Charles frowned, but decided not to push further. Instead, he thought of something that might cheer them up.
"You know, I heard in the Centre that there was a inlet nearby where we could go fishing," Charles said, making the two girls perk up, "why don't we go and see if there are any Pokemon we can meet."
Flo and Alice shared a look before smiling.
"Sounds fun," Alice said, her mood improving.
"Great," Charles said standing up and preparing to find the inlet.
Alice and Flo watched him leave before sharing another look. They both laughed, no longer feeling bad about the incident earlier.
Sea Inlet
After collecting stuff and returning the Pokemon to their pokeballs, the team had found the inlet and hired a boat so they could fish. The inlet wasn't too big, but it was secluded enough so the tourists and the beachgoers don't visit. Meaning that the team had the inlet all to themselves.
They had picked up some fishing gear and rowed out to the centre. They hadn't had to wait for long as Alice felt a tug on her line.
"Hey, I think I've got one," Alice said reeling in her line.
"That's great," Charles said as he made his way to her to help.
They began pulling and reeling until something broke from the surface. It had a light blue body with two red on each side of its body and one small red crystal in the middle. At the base were two eyes and two grey tentacles that flapped below the surface.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Alice asked as the Pokemon curiously looked up at her.
"It's a tentacool," Charles answered, taking out his pokedex and showing it to Alice.
Tentacool: Drifts in shallow seas. Anglers who hook them by accident are often punished by its stinging acid.
Alice heard the description and instantly nervous. She looked down at the tentacool and she could see that it was not pleased at all.
"Alice, give it some food," Charles suggested as he gave her bag of pokefood.
Alice quickly reached in and took out some pellets and carefully placed them on the surface of the water. The tentacool looked at the food in interest, the annoyed look leaving its face.
"I'm sorry tentacool," Alice apologised sincerely, "I didn't mean to make you mad."
The tentacool looked up at her then at the food. Using one of its tentacles, it pushed the food to its mouth and started eating, much to Alice's relief.
Charles smiled at the exchange, happy that an accident had been avoided.
("Charles, we have something,") Benny called out from where he was holding Charles' fishing rod.
Charles made back to his brother and picked up the rod. There was definitely something caught on it, but for some reason it was much stronger than the tentacool. Charles began to reel it in, but it put up a fight.
"Guys I need some help," Charles called out as he began to struggle.
Alice and Flo grabbed on to the rod and began pulling as well. Benny climbed on to Charles' head and pulled it as well.
"Damn, this thing is strong," Flo muttered through gritted teeth.
"Or really heavy," Alice added.
"It's almost there," Charles said as he struggled to reel it in.
("Keep….pulling,") Benny said using his small hands.
Suddenly something broke the surface and leaped onto the boat.
However, it wasn't a Pokemon.
It was a scuba diver.
The shock of pulling up a human being scared the team, making them move back in fright. Add the extra weight onto the boat and they all capsized into the water. As the team sputtered and treaded water another diver broke the surface.
The diver took out the breathing apparatus and gasped at the scene.
"Oh, my goodness," the diver exclaimed in a female voice, "is everybody all right?"
From afar, the tentacool, who just witnessed what happened, sweat dropped.
Maritime Research Lab
"I'm really sorry about that," Dr. Moby Richards apologised as he handed towels to the team, "I must have given you quite a scare."
"It's fine," Flo said as she took a towel and wrapped it around herself, "we're sorry for…fishing you," she said as the others nodded.
Dr Moby Richards and his research partner Dr. Mel Herman took the team back to their research lab to get dried up. The lab was a wooden cabin a couple of meters from the shore. It looked to be recently built and was large enough for two people to live in as well as a small lab. On the way, the two doctors had told them they were both marine archaeologists. They had been investigating the inlet when Moby was accidently caught on Charles' hook.
Moby was in his early thirties with messy black hair, tanned skin and had a five o'clock shadow. He had changed out of his diving suit and into more comfortable clothes. He was quite clumsy having already spilled his coffee on himself as soon as he sat down.
Mel was much more level-headed than her partner. She too was in her early thirties with orange frizzy hair, fair skin, and kind green eyes. She was currently making tea for them and another coffee for Moby.
"Still, we should have put up a sign of something," Mel said as she gave them all cups of tea.
Charles accepted the tea and placed it on the coffee table in front of him. He then continued drying Benny with the towel Moby gave him.
"So, what are you investigating?" Charles asked flattening parts of Benny fur that stuck out.
"Yeah, you look super busy," Alice added, looking around the cabin at the number of maps and machines.
Mel sipped her tea and smiled, "We've been sent out by our university to investigate a sunken ship abandoned a couple centuries ago in the inlet," she explained, earning fascinated looks by the team.
"Really that's so cool," Flo commented.
"Well…not really," Moby said sheepishly, "the investigation is cool, but the process…not so great."
Mel nodded in agreement, "We've been here for a few weeks now and our scuba gear only just arrived yesterday," she explained, "archaeology involves a lot of waiting."
("Charles,") Benny said, ("ask them what they are looking for.")
Charles nodded and looked up at the two adults.
"So, what are you hoping to find?" Charles asked.
Almost instantly, the two doctors sat up excitedly.
"I'm so glad you asked that Charles," Moby said as he made his way to a table, accidently tripping himself on the way there.
Eventually, made his way back and laid a map on the coffee table. The map was of the coast they were on with small red and blue dots drawn on it.
"The red dots," Moby said, pointing to the map, "show an historical site where shipwrecks have taken place in the past few centuries."
"While the blue dots," Mel continued, "show recent discoveries of sunken ships using modern surveillance equipment. If you look at the inlet we are investigating, you can see that there is a red and blue dot."
"Wait, so that means not only you know there is a shipwreck, but you also know what the ship used to be," Flo said as she inspected the map.
The doctors nodded.
"Precisely, so from historical records, we know that this ship was a cargo ship when it sank," Moby explained."
"So, what was it carrying?" Charles asked.
"We don't know," Moby replied, "that's why we need to investigate. Although, it has been rumoured that it was carrying precious cargo."
"Precious cargo. You mean like treasure," Alice said excitedly.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Mel said with a chuckle, "we're doctors not treasure hunters."
"But Mel," Moby said, "imagine what precious cargo can be found at the Red and Blue dots."
"Gold and Silver," Flo suggested excitedly.
"Ruby and Sapphires," Alice suggested eagerly.
"Diamond and Pearls, you name it," Moby finished with a wide grin, "I mean it's all here in Black and White."
"X and Y" Charles blurted out.
….
….
….
….
"Excuse me," Mel asked as everybody looked at Charles weirdly.
Charles seemed to be just as confused at what he said.
"I-I-I'm sorry, I…have no idea why I said that," he uttered, frowning slightly.
"What like X marks the spot or something," Flo said, trying to figure out what he meant.
("But what does the Y mean?") Benny commented.
"Never mind, it's not important. Please continue," Charles said, feeling slightly embarrassed.
They all gave him one more concerned look before they turned away.
"Okay…so what are you
"So, we interrupted your investigation then," Alice commented with a frown.
Mel shook her head, "Actually we were just coming back up. We've hit a bump in the road."
"The is an opening in the ship that we need to get through, but it's too small," Moby explained, "we can't risk doing damage, so we decided to send a message to the university to send a probe."
"Wouldn't that mean even more waiting?" Charles said as he took a sip of his tea.
"Unfortunately, yes," Mel sighed as she slumped into her chair.
The team glanced at each other as they saw the two doctors look at the beverages sadly.
"Well, why don't we do it," Flo suggested, making the doctors look up again, "I'm pretty sure we could fit."
Mel smiled kindly, "That's nice of you, but it could be dangerous. There may even be a dangerous Pokemon living in the wreckage."
Alice gripped her hand tightly in determination, "We'll be fine. Besides, we have a Pokemon expert on our team," she said pointing to Charles.
"I wouldn't say expert per se," Charles mumbled as he petted Benny's head.
Mel and Moby shared a look.
"I mean we won't have to waste resources," Moby shrugged.
Mel sighed and smiled at the team.
"Alright, you can do it," she said, "however, it's dangerous so please be careful," she begged.
"Also, there is only two scuba suits," Moby added, "one of you needs to stay behind."
The team looked at each other thoughtfully.
"Well, I mean it's between you two since I'm going down," Charles told the girls.
Flo and Alice nodded in understanding before they turned to each other.
"Alice, you should do it," Flo told her, much to her friend's surprise.
"Me? Why?" Alice asked.
"I think you would be better at it then me. The pressure would probably get to me," Flo told her.
Alice smiled kindly, "Thanks Flo. Alright I'll do it."
Moby chuckled, earning curious looks from the others.
"What's so funny?" Charles asked.
Moby caught his breath before he answered.
"Sorry, I thought Flo was about to tell Alice that she has to do it because she's so sho-" Moby stopped when he saw Charles, Benny and Flo shake the heads rapidly.
He figured out why as soon as he glanced at the dark glare Alice was giving him.
"What was that?" Alice growled.
Moby gulped and backed away in fear.
Sea Inlet
Moby winced as he removed the icepack over his black eye and placed it on the side of the boat so he could check that the aqua lung was firmly secured to Charles' back.
The doctors had given Alice and Charles a brief lesson in scuba diving before they rowed out to where shipwreck was supposed to be. Mel, Flo and Benny were waiting on the shore with the equipment.
"Alright, it looks like you two are good to go," Moby said, "remember, please be careful."
"We will," Charles and Alice promised, now dressed in their scuba gear.
They sat on the side of the boat and placed the apparatus in their mouths. Nodding to each other to say they were ready, Charles and Alice leaned back and dived into the cold waters.
It took a while for the two to get their bearings, but soon they swam down towards the shipwreck.
("Hey Charles, can you hear me,") said the voice of Benny through Charles's radio.
The scuba gear was fitted with a communications system. Not only could they talk to Benny on land, but they could also talk to each other.
"Yeah, I can hear you," Charles said back through his radio, "we can see the ship and we are approaching it."
("Alright, be careful,") Benny pleaded with concern.
"I will, don't worry," Charles reassured his brother, "who knows maybe in the precious cargo I will find a Sun and Moon," he blurted out.
("…I'm sorry a what?") Benny asked in confusion.
"A…Sun and…Moon," Charles repeated hesitantly.
("…A sun and moon?")
"Yeah…because they…were…both used by sailors to navigate the sea," Charles explained uncertainly.
(Well…I mean that is a bit of a stretch…also what does that have to do with precious cargo?")
"Never mind, just forget what I said," Charles said in defeat.
("…Charles, are you alright?") Benny asked in concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
("It's just that this is second time you've done this.")
"I'm fine really, we're approaching the ship," Charles informed, trying to change the subject.
The ship was exactly what Charles had expected from a pirate story. Rotten wood, its mast broken in half and covered in barnacles and seaweed. Charles thought it would have been magnificent back in it's day, however now it's nothing but a shell of what it once was.
"Hey Charles," Alice said though the radio, "I think that's the hole they were talking about."
Charles followed her pointing finger to see a hole in the hull of the ship. The two swam towards it and inspected it. It looked to be larger enough for the two to enter with their gear.
Charles went first with no hassle and looked around the inside. It was dark to see properly and so Charles turned on the torch he was given. The interior was about the same as the outside, but Charles knew that this ship was fragile and could collapse at any moment.
"Charles," Alice called out.
Charles turned around to see Alice had gotten stuck in the hole and was pushing on the wall to get inside.
"I can't move," Alice muttered, trying to get through.
Charles swam towards her and grabbed her hands.
"Try not to struggle so much. The whole thing could come down on us," he told her.
Alice was beginning to panic when she felt something push her legs forwards. The thing that pushing her was able to get her unstuck in the hole and safely inside the ship. Alice turned around and saw, through the hole, that it was the tentacool from earlier. The tentacool gave a friendly wave with its tentacle and swam off.
Alice blinked at the strange encounter before smiling to herself.
"Thanks, tentacool," she quietly said.
She turned away from the hole and, with a thumbs up, the two searched the ship for precious cargo.
It has been ten minutes since they began their search and yet they have found nothing. Their aqua lungs were starting to run out of oxygen, and they needed to go up to the surface soon.
"I can't believe we haven't found anything," Alice muttered in irritation.
"I know," Charles sighed, "maybe they weren't carrying anything at all," he suggested.
("Hello there, friends,") came a cheery voice from behind Charles.
He spun around to see a Pokemon looking at them. It looked like a large crab with the top half of its shell red and the bottom white. It had two large pincers and six white legs. Charles instantly recognised it as a Krabby.
("Welcome to the shipwreck,") the krabby greeted, ("I'm Krabby. That's my Pokemon name not my attitude. Unless you wake me too early in the mornings then I will be a crabby Krabby,") he giggled, ("That's a little joke I came up with. Who are you?")
Charles blinked in surprise at the krabby's relaxed way of speaking. It was very welcoming.
"Hi, my name is Charles, and this is my friend Alice," he introduced himself to the Krabby while Alice gave him a wave.
("Cool, cool. It's so nice to meet people and one who could talk to Pokemon that's totally awesome,") he commented.
'I'm guessing he doesn't get many visitors,' Charles thought amusingly.
("How can I help you two, today?") the krabby asked.
"Charles ask him whether there's any treasure," Alice urged.
"Right," Charles agreed, "so Krabby-"
("Krabby was my old man's name, call me Kani,") Kani interrupted with a wave of his claw.
"Kani," Charles corrected himself, "We we're wondering if there is any treasure on this ship?"
Kani tapped his claw on his chin in thought.
("What do you mean by treasure?") he asked.
"Like Sword and Shield," Charles blurted once again.
Silence fell as Kani and Alice stared at Charles oddly.
("Sword and shield?") Kani repeated in confusion.
"Yes…" Charles sputtered, "because sometimes…in movies there is always like a cutlass in a pile of…treasure. I'm not quite sure about…the...shield…part," he finished lamely.
"Charles are you sure you're alright," Alice asked in concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I honestly don't know why I keep doing that," he admitted, rubbing his head.
("Right…well I don't know of anything like that,") Kani replied, ("however, I can show you something I have been looing after for a while.")
"Yeah, that would be great," Charles said, shaking off his earlier embarrassment.
They followed the krabby to the bow of the ship, making sure to keep away from any unsafe places. Soon Krabby opened a door and the two humans gasped at what they saw. Laying on a nest of rags was a large sky blue Pokemon egg.
Once Charles had processed what he was seeing, he squealed in delight.
"OH MY GOODNESS, IT'S A POKEMON EGG!" he squealed in excitement as he swam closer to it, "IT'S SO ADORABLE! I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE IN AGES!"
As Charles was cooing over the Pokemon egg, Alice, after taking a moment to enjoy the adorable site of Charles fanboying out over an egg, turned to Kani.
"Where did you find the egg?" she asked curiously.
Kani pointed with his claw downwards.
"He said he found it hear," Charles translated, "he's been looking after it ever since."
Alice hummed in interest before she noticed that her aqua lung was going to run out any moment.
"Charles, we need to get out of here," she informed sternly.
Charles turned to her, "But we can't leave this egg here," he argued.
Alice frowned, "I guess we can take it, with us," she said.
("Oh you guys are leaving already,") Kani said, in a less cherry tone.
"Sorry, but we are about to run out of oxygen," Charles told him.
Kani smiled and nodded, ("That's cool. Just be a little lonely now that you've taken the egg.")
Charles looked down at the egg and then back at Kani. It did seem a little cruel leaving him behind.
"Well, why don't you come with us," Charles suggested, much to Kani's surprise.
("What really?") he asked, his warm tone returning.
Charles nodded, "Yep, we'll iron out the details later, but we need to go now."
Kani thought for a moment before he nodded causally.
("Sure, sounds like fun,") he said in a laidback voice.
"Good," Charles said, "get on my back and I'll carry you."
Kani climbed onto Charles while he carefully picked the egg up. The three swam through the ship and out through the hole they entered. They were able to swim to fresh air just in time.
Little did they know, that the tentacool that helped Alice earlier watched her swim to the surface and decided to follow her.
Maritime Research Lab
Everybody returned to the lab to discuss what happened on the shipwreck. Alice and Charles had already changed and were sitting on the sofa with Flo. Kani was sitting on Charles' shoulder comfortably, while Charles was drying the egg they found with a towel. The warm smile not once leaving Charles's face.
"So, you guys found nothing at all," Moby said sadly.
Charles and Flo shook their heads.
"Sorry, krabby said that there was nothing but the egg," Charles explained.
Mel chuckled, "Don't be sorry. You saved us on spending money on a probe," she told them as she stood up, "I need to make a few phone calls to the university and tell them our finds," she said before she walked into the lab.
"So, what are you going to do with the egg?" Flo asked as she rubbed the egg gently.
Moby frowned, "I'm sorry, but we can't take it," he said.
"What why?" Alice asked in shock.
"We're too busy to look after it," Moby explained, "and we would probably be going back to the university soon. Sorry kids."
The team frowned sadly when they heard that and looked at the egg.
("What are we going to do with it?") Benny asked in concern.
Charles gasped in excitement, making everybody jump.
"We're going to adopt it," he declared much to everybody's shock.
"Wait what?" Flo asked.
Charles turned to Flo and Alice on the sofa with a pleading look in his eyes.
"Oh please, we must look after it. I can't leave this baby alone. I've looked after eggs at the lab before and Flo can check if it's doing alight. Please," he held the egg up to them, "look at its adorable face."
("I think mum may have rubbed off on you,") Benny remarked with a sweat drop at his brother's eagerness.
("Sounds like a cool idea,") the krabby commented from Charles' shoulder, ("I've looked after it all this time.")
"Yeah, what Krabby said," Charles agreed with a vigorous nod.
Flo and Alice, however, still looked unconvinced.
"I don't know Charles, I would love to but raising an egg is a lot of responsibility," Flo said with a small frown.
"Yeah, we also encounter a lot of dangerous things on our journey. We wouldn't want it to get hurt," Alice added.
"Please," Charles begged, "we can be its parents and it can be part of the team, of course if it doesn't want to battle we won't force it, but pl-"
Charles stopped as he saw Alice's and Flo's blank faces. He blinked curiously.
"Err…guys?" he said.
Alice and Flo, however, were lost in the own individual worlds as one word echoed through their minds.
Parents.
Parents.
Parents.
They imagined different scenarios of being with Charles. Getting married, raising children, growing old together. It sounded wonderful.
And it could all start with this egg.
Charles was starting to get scared. Alice and Flo hadn't talked in five minutes and just stared into space with rosy cheeks and sparkly eyes.
He glanced at Benny who shrugged in response.
"Err…guys," he said again.
Alice and Flo snapped out of their fantasies and gave Charles broad smiles.
"You know thinking about we can always get supplies from the Centre," Flo said happily.
"Yeah, and we're strong pa- trainers, we can fend for our chi- the egg," Alice added.
"Okay…" Charles uttered feeling a little weirded out, "I'm glad that we all on board."
He decided to put his focus back on the egg, a warm smile spreading over his face.
"I guess we're your parents now, little one," he calmly told it, stroking the shell, "you're going to be on the best jou- DAMN IT!" Charles suddenly shouted angrily.
What's wrong?" Flo asked in concern.
"I should have said Crystal and Platinum! Those are precious cargo! That's so annoying!" he explained irritably.
Everybody sweat dropped as Charles began to sulk in his part of the sofa, hugging the egg firmly in his arms.
I may or may not have written this chapter to make that joke. No comment.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it.
Not only do we have a new member, but a Pokemon egg. I think you can guess what sort of Pokemon it's going to be.
I am a little disappointed in myself that the first time I wrote Alice and Flo alone togther, it was all about bikinis and impressing boys. I am actually ashamed of myself. I promise in later chapters that they won't fall into stereotypical plots and become more independent. Sorry to anybody reading this.
Also I decided that the tentacool will follow Alice for a while since the team's going to be near water for quite some time.
Other then that, hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you next time.
Thanks :)
