Cinder Fall clicked her tongue as she silently listened to Ozpin's speech about missions. She tapped her foot impatiently and clicked her tongue again as Emerald squirmed beside her nervously.
She sighed.
If she was being honest with herself, she had no reason to be irritated so much. In the strictest sense, at least.
She may have accomplished her goal last night of infecting the CCT without a fuss and the thrill of pulling off such a successful mission should have left her with a feeling of euphoria but it didn't.
And it was because of one important reason.
Jaune Arc.
She never got her dance!
She lost her opportunity to get close to him and discover more about his Semblance that she couldn't help but treat it as a lost opportunity!
Cinder couldn't help but growl as she glanced at Mercury and Emerald from the corner of her eyes, for it was because of them that she lost her chance!
Emerald gulped while Mercury opted to look away from Cinder and pretend nothing was wrong.
Well, everything was wrong!
Not only did she lose the chance to dance with Jaune Arc last night, she also found out from Mercury that Jaune Arc apparently had a girlfriend! An attachment and a thorn on her side in her quest to recruit him!
Everyone in her line of business knew that those with attachments were one of the hardest to turn willingly to their cause!
She could still turn him to their side forcefully by intimidation but no. To do so would just harden his heart on using his Semblance on her. The payoff for a forceful recruitment would not be worth it.
She closed her eyes and breathed heatedly as she remembered the feeling of his Semblance willfully rushing towards her. While it did have the unfortunate side-effect of allowing the other Maiden access to her body via their strengthened bond, it still gave Cinder a significant boost to her own power and not to mention, pleasure she had never felt before.
Her cheeks flushed at the memory and she could already feel her core heating up at the expectation of power rushing inside her but alas, it was not to be.
She opened her eyes and glared across the student body to find her target surrounded by hussies. Worst of all, his girlfriend. Blake Belladonna.
The girl clung subtly against his side, not quite latching onto him but still pressing herself against his arm. Though….now that she could see the girl for herself, the cogs in Cinder's mind begin to turn.
Black hair, amber eyes, and an admittedly voluptuous figure, Cinder smirked. It seems Jaune Arc has a type and Cinder just happens to fit it.
She breathed deeply as a smile took over her face. Yes, it was all coming together now.
Blake Belladonna might also fit the bill but there was no doubt that Cinder was the more attractive prospect for what could the girl do but make way for a real woman.
Her body relaxes and unconsciously takes on a more languid stance. Her chest pushes forward and her back arcs (heh, arcs) as she looks at Jaune with half-lidded eyes.
He was a bit too naive and accommodating for her usual tastes but….he had his own charms. Gallant, cute in a puppy sort of way, and most important of all, he had a wonderful Semblance. She wonders what would happen if he uses it right in the middle of the throes of passion with her-
She gasps as her body seizes up and her insides clench at her imagination. Heat sizzled up her skin and she struggled to hold back a moan even as Emerald looked at her worriedly.
"Cinder, are you okay?"
"Never been better, Emerald. I have never been better." She hisses and she has no doubt she was blushing even as an uncontrollable grin crept up her face. "I have a mission for you, dear Emerald."
"Anything, Cinder. What can I do for you?" Emerald simpers and Cinder smirks as she looks at her just as Ozpin finishes his speech.
"I want you to find out Jaune Arc's mission for his team."
Jaune frowned as he listened to Headmaster Ozpin end his speech to everyone in the Auditorium.
He frowned because as he looked down at his Scroll, he saw his team was already assigned a mission.
PR work with the Vale Police Department.
It seems that the punishment for the mess they made during Roman's Paladin Rampage back in Vale has finally come to bite them in the ass.
They knew it was coming of course. Professor Glynda even warned them as such but in the aftermath of everything that was just going on in his life, Jaune had no shame in admitting he forgot.
He looked towards his fellow leader and best friend only to have her quickly push past him and rush towards the Mission Selection Stand.
Jaune frowns as he looks at her fleeing form. Ruby wasn't usually as brusque at that and the few moments she pushed someone around when rushing somewhere, she always apologized. She was too cute and adorable not to.
"What's up with her?" He asks but he hears a scoff sound out behind him.
"What's up with her he says. I wonder what a certain someone could have done to make her uncomfortable." Weiss rolls her eyes and looks at Jaune deadpannedly after that.
Before last night, Jaune would have sheepishly rubbed the back of his head and apologized profusely but this time…well, he only raises an eyebrow at her.
"I didn't hear you complaining last night though." He shoots back and Weiss looks down embarrassedly with a blush on her face.
He laughs heartily. Before last night, he really never would have been able to do that and seeing Weiss blush because of him sends a thrill down his spine. Was this how confidence felt like? If so, then his old man really was a wise man.
He grins even as Blake speaks beside him.
"Well, yeah. You couldn't hear her because you were choking her with your-mmph!"
"Blake!" He shrieks embarrassedly as confidence turns to embarrassment while he covers his girlfriend's mouth.
Weiss choked on air even as Jaune cringed apologetically and Blake's muffled laughter rang out behind his hand.
"Y-Y-You-"
"I was going to say expectations. You know, cause you're a Schnee and Jaune had a lot of expectations of you?" Blake interrupted after pulling his hand down, looking like a cheshire cat as she smiled at Weiss.
"Expectations my ass. You're not even making the effort to hide your bullshit." Yang snorted before looking flatly at Blake who only shrugged back at her.
"Language, Yang. Also Blake, don't tease Weiss. Not in public at least." Pyrrha admonishes before stepping beside Jaune. "And you, Jaune? You're not going to go with them?" Pyrrha asked, bumping him towards the Mission Selection Stand where the rest of the team leaders were starting to congregate at the list of missions they could take.
Jaune only gaped at her in amazement however. She just resolved the situation so smoothly that all everyone involved could do was look at her embarrassedly.
"Remnant to Jaune, are you okay?" Pyrrha raised an eyebrow at him but he could see the mirth in her eyes.
"You are amazing." He whispers in awe and pleasure fills his heart as he sees Pyrrha bashfully squirm in front of him.
"T-Thanks but what about the missions?" Pyrrha asks as she embarrassedly looked away from his eyes.
Jaune's smile turns wry then and he cringes as he shows her his Scroll.
"Ah, I see." Pyrrha grimaced.
Considering Pyrrha would have had the most experience with Public Relations among them, Jaune wasn't surprised with his girlfriend's reaction and instead gives her a sympathetic smile before Nora calls out to him.
"What's up, fearless leader? Already have a mission for us?"
Again, he shows his Scroll, and again a teammate cringes. This time however, Ren was already there to comfort Nora.
"Look on the bright side, this way we can visit the pancake shops while we are in Vale."
Nora gasps happily at that as Jaune sends Ren a grateful look. None of them wanted to deal with a sulking Nora for the duration of their mission.
Nobody really wanted PR work when they could bust Grimm heads instead and if Jaune was being honest with himself, he was also chomping to test his skills against the Grimm.
"What is it?" Blake asks worriedly, seeing his team's despondent reaction.
Again, Jaune shows his Scroll but this time to the rest of Team RWBY.
"My condolences." Weiss cringed sympathetically, getting everyone to look at her and reminding everyone that Pyrrha wasn't the only with experience doing PR.
As heiress of the SDC, and a world-renowned singer in her own right, it was obvious that Weiss would have gone through a few PR events as well.
"It's not that bad, is it?" Blake asked but this time Pyrrha provided the answer with a horrified look on her face.
"It is that bad, Blake. I know PR work is important but it is almost always tedious. Once, I had to hold a baby and pose for the camera just to promote proper childcare. DO you know how hard it is to get a baby to pose with you? Very."
"You usually only do that when partnering with hospitals though. Since you are partnering with the police this time, hopefully you would have an easier time with it. Maybe they just want you to do some community service." Weiss points out, optimistically trying to raise their spirits.
"Welp, it sucks to be you. Hopefully Ruby could pick a cool mission for the rest of us." Yang however whistles casually before looking towards her sister.
His gaze follows hers and he looks on worriedly as Ruby stares at the holographic stand in front of her.
Not one look. She didn't even look at their direction for help or anything. Ever since breakfast, Jaune has noticed Ruby slowly starting to avoid him. He didn't speak about it at first because he thought she just needed some space and after last night, he was willing to give her any space she needed.
Yet it only got worse from there because despite Jaune noticing all their friends talk animatedly, Ruby slowly isolated herself.
Something was clearly bothering his best friend.
"You should go to her." Pyrrha says softly and Jaune sighs as he nods.
He pauses however, when he sees Headmaster Ozpin approach Ruby.
"Maybe I should go check on her later." He replies but Pyrrha pokes him on his side.
"Jaune, you need to talk to her."
"What do I even say?"
"I don't know but something is definitely bothering her and Weiss was right about what it was."
That much was obvious.
Ruby….heard them.
Jaune put it out of his mind last night because of everything that just happened, but….it must've been shocking to Ruby.
Honestly, he could relate. He reckons what she was feeling now was similar to how he felt when he walked in on Saphron doing the nasty with one of her exes in her room.
It was traumatizing and Jaune was only able to cope through it because Saph explained things to him.
And so he sighed, knowing that he must do the same thing.
And so, Jaune steps forward and prepares to explain everything to Ruby and give her the Talk.
Ruby Rose had stars in her eyes as she looked at the Mission Selection Stand in front of her.
Missions! They were finally going to get to go on missions!
But that wasn't the only reason Ruby was happy.
Not only were they going to be real life heroes, Ruby felt like it was also the best way to get her team back together again!
She took a peek at her team only to find them talking happily with Jaune.
She couldn't help it, she frowns as she looks away from them. Ruby knew that she was being weird towards them but she just couldn't take it anymore!
It's always Jaune this and Jaune that with them! It would have been at least a bit bearable if Jaune didn't entertain them so much but he did!
Even now Jaune was happily talking with her teammates instead of being here with her to pick his own team's mission.
But no, Ruby resolves herself that she wouldn't be affected by him anymore. If he wanted to take his time and get the worst pickings of the bunch then that was on him.
Meanwhile, Ruby was here being busy trying to choose the perfect mission to tie her team together again.
She could already imagine it! Just the four of them killing Grimm, beating bad guys, and saving villages!
It really was the perfect way to pull her team together again.
She sighed dreamily but shook her head as she stared at the Mission Selection Stand where she could now see the rest of the team leaders were gathering.
She had to choose now if she wanted to get the very best of the bunch but which one?
She read the available missions and tried to assess which one would be the best one available to bring her team together again.
Merchant Protection, accompany and follow a veteran Huntsman making a delivery between villages. The Huntsman could protect himself but he needed a team to help secure his goods. It was good and simple but the constant vigilance and walking might just stress them all out.
Frontier Village Defense, help a retired Huntress protect her hometown while the locals try to build a wall for more protection. It had the same problem that they needed to be constantly vigilant but with the added danger of boredom if nothing serious really happens.
And then as her eyes go downward, she finds her favorite
Seek and Destroy, hunt down any Grimm within a set area around Mountain Glenn to prevent the Grimm from massing and overwhelming the nearby towns.
As she looks at the details, she remembers one word that was almost forgotten because of everything crazy happening around her.
Southeast.
The White Fang were in the southeast direction outside of Vale which just happens to be the direction Mountain Glenn was at!
Before she knew it, she finds her finger automatically selecting the mission with her Scroll only for it to reject her.
Higher Years Only!
Ruby gawked as the screen flashed in front of her. What kind of idiot would leave an option like that for first years to find if they weren't available for them in the first place?! It would've been better if they never dangled it in front of her and gotten her hopes up.
She grumbles frustratedly and sighs as she looks at the other available mission. Well, Ruby did say she would agree not to look for the White Fang if that's what Blake wanted.
She jolts however when she hears a voice behind her.
"Hm? Mountain Glenn? Did Qrow tell you about it?" Headmaster Ozpin hums thoughtfully as he looks at Ruby and her Scroll highlighting the Mountain Glenn mission in red.
"Uncle Qrow?" She blinks back with wide eyes causing Headmaster Ozpin to chuckle.
"Ah, it seems he did not. Regardless, call it Fate or Destiny but perhaps he would appreciate having family visit him." Headmaster Ozpin winked conspiratorially, causing Ruby to gasp at the meaning of his words.
"Uncle Qrow's in Mountain Glenn?!"
"Yes, and it seems you will be too." Headmaster Ozpin nods with a smile on his face before fishing out his own Scroll and pushing a few buttons on it.
Ruby gasped as the mission turned green in her Scroll.
Mission Accepted.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Ruby squealed gratefully, giddily hugging Headmaster Ozpin before she even knew she was doing it.
Her face looks on in horror as she realizes what she has done but Headmaster Ozpin only laughs loudly at her antics even as she separates from him.
"No need to thank me, Ms. Rose. As long as you do not neglect your own mission with your assigned Huntsman then you are free to visit your uncle if you can find him."
In her embarrassment, her mouth moves before she could even think of her answer.
"Yes, Sir! You can count on me, Sir!" She shouts embarrassedly and she even does the salute frequently seen in the military!
"At ease, Huntress. Don't forget to prepare for your mission adequately." Headmaster Ozpin laughed as he left her there with a bright blush on her face.
Gods, how she wanted the ground to just swallow her up and then and there. Could this day get any worse?
"Well, that happened."
It just got worse.
Ruby froze as she heard Jaune's voice behind her.
Great, he saw that. Another reason to avoid her best friend gets added to the list and so she hunches into herself and pretends not to hear him.
Her eye twitched however when he sighed loudly.
"Ruby, is this about what happened last night?"
Her eyes snapped towards him at that.
What else did he think it was about?!
"Yeah, stupid question." Jaune cringes and Ruby could only nod flatly at him for that before letting him continue. "Look, I know things might be a little surprising-"
"A little? A LITTLE?! Jaune! It was not just a little! It was a lot!" She interrupts, unable to completely stop herself from reacting to his gross understatement of things.
She does not expect to hear the reply that comes out of his mouth however.
"That's what she said." He mutters before his eyes widen at the words leaving his mouth.
Ruby froze, her face taking on a red hue as she glared at Jaune.
"What. Did. You. Just. Say." She states woodenly to which Jaune only cringes apologetically.
"Sorry. That came out of nowhere."
They were lucky the rest of the people around them were too busy taking their pick of their own missions to really listen to their conversation because if not, they would be receiving a lot of weird looks right about now.
Jaune groans frustratedly as she keeps her glare at him however. His palm hits his own face and drags down lethargically before he looks back at her.
"Look, Ruby, I don't really know how to say this so I'm just going to do what one of my sisters did to me."
"Huh?" She tilts her head in confusion at that.
Out of every direction this conversation could have taken, Ruby did not expect his sister to get dragged into this.
Jaune took a deep breath and looked at her seriously. Ruby couldn't help but perk up at the attention.
"I know last night was surprising but when two people really like each other, they-oof!"
Ruby's eyes widened at his words however and she found herself already punching Jaune to interrupt him.
She knew those words. Heard them from Uncle Qrow even. And she remembers just how horrifying it was to hear the rest of it at the time.
It could only be one thing. The birds and the bees. The Lancer and the Nevermore.
It was the Talk.
No way was she going to hear it for a second time.
She cringes as her fist hits Jaune's gut. Whatever training he was on? It was doing wonders for his body because despite his Aura not reacting to Ruby's surprise attack, Ruby still felt the pain rebounding from her fist.
She shakes her hand in pain before hissing angrily at him. "Are you…trying to give me the Talk?!"
"First of all, ow. Second, I didn't know what to say, okay?! I just knew something was bothering you and I wanted to help you with it."
Ruby will admit it, the sentiment was sweet but….
"Did you really think giving me the Talk was supposed to help me?!" She whisper-yells with a red face, grabbing Jaune and dragging him towards a more isolated corner of the hall.
It wasn't really private but it was the best they could have at the moment. For all everyone knew, they were just two leaders arguing how best to prepare their own teams, as long as they don't listen in of course.
Jaune sheepishly rubbed the back of his head at that. "I mean it worked for me when my sister Saphron did it to me."
"You heard your sister?" Ruby asked in horror, a small part of her sympathized with Jaune.
She couldn't imagine how she would react if she heard Yang doing it with a boy-no, wait. She could definitely imagine it. All she needed to do was imagine Yang in Weiss' place and viola, instant trauma.
Jaune however only shakes his head with a distant expression and uttering words that scars her even more. "Worse, I walked in on them."
"...I'm sorry." Ruby could only mutter sympathetically. That was admittedly worse.
Jaune shook the trauma off of his face at her words before focusing back on her.
"No, Ruby. I'm the one who is sorry. It might not have been the same situation but I still put you through that."
And just like that, her anger and indignation return.
"You did put me through that and you should be sorry about it!" She growls, closing her eyes and remembering the sounds she heard last night even as Jaune winced apologetically.
G-Glurk! Gluck! Glurkh!
Choking sounds pierce through her brain and her body hits up as she remembers how Weiss played with her food earlier this breakfast. The small tongue poking out to taste the sausage. The small and careful nibbles she took with half-lidded eyes.
It was all too much for Ruby and her cheeks heat up as she vividly remembers Pyrrha's words from oh so long ago.
"Well…Neo….she used your face and-"
She inhales sharply at the image. Her eyes peek towards Jaune before quickly snapping away. Did…Neo make the same sounds while wearing her face?
G-Glurk! Gluck! Glurkh!
Does Jaune remember her own face choking on his-
"Right, I'm sorry, Ruby. I really am."
That should have been the end of that but well….Jaune caught her at a bad time.
Jaune's words jolt her as heat rushes up her face. Her cheeks blush and desperate for Jaune not to notice, Ruby scowls shakily at Jaune to pretend her blush was because of anger and not embarrassment.
"My partner, Jaune?! With your girlfriends and in our bathroom?!"
Okay, she might have been faking it at first but her shame mixes with anger and turns genuine as her words rang out.
Jaune raised his hands defensively at that.
"Look, in my defense, I didn't know they were going to do any of that, okay?! I'm just as stumped as you are!"
Ruby only scoffs at that before crossing her arms under her chest.
"And you couldn't have said no?!"
"It was Weiss, Ruby. You know I have always had a crush on her. What was I supposed to do?!" Jaune threw his hands up exasperatedly but Ruby only rolled her eyes at him.
"Say no?" She repeats while uncrossing her arms.
"Get a handle on your girlfriends?" She adds while stepping forward.
"Literally don't do it in our bathroom?!" She finishes while indignantly poking his chest.
Out of all the things she listed, the last one was probably the most important of them all. Jaune defiled their bathroom! A place where they get naked! Now everytime she walks in there like last night and even earlier this morning, her mind can't help but imagine what kind of filthy things they did in there!
Four naked bodies, grinding against each other doing gods know what. She breathed deeply as Jaune blushed embarrassedly in front of her.
"I couldn't, okay?! Ruby, I'm a healthy young man! I can't say no to a beautiful woman wanting to do something like that, let alone three of them!"
The horndog!
She blushed prettily at the honest confession before squaring up against him and opening her mouth.
"A healthy young man, you say?! Should I keep my guard up now then, Jaune? Are you going to seduce me next?"
"What?!" Jaune screeched as her eyes opened wide.
What was she even saying?! That was not what she wanted to say! She wanted to tell him to stop seducing her team! Nowhere in that sentence did it include Jaune having to seduce her next!
Welp! There was nothing else to it, Jaune was already waiting for her reply and so Ruby Rose doubles down and throws shame out of the window.
"You heard me! You've already seduced my partner-"
"I didn't seduce her." Jaune interrupted but Ruby only looked at him flatly before clearing her throat.
"-As I was saying! You have already seduced Blake and Weiss, what is stopping a healthy young man such as yourself from trying to seduce me?!" She asks as a blush colored her face.
Jaune immediately shrieked however.
"I-what?! Ruby, I would never!"
Okay, Ruby will admit it. That hurt. A lot. While she had no intentions of falling into Jaune's bed anytime soon, the rejection stung harshly.
"...Well, you didn't have to be rude about it." She pouts quietly, looking away from Jaune in shame.
Jaune's eyes widened at that and he immediately grabbed hold of both her shoulders.
She squeaked at the intensity in his eyes but Jaune only held her tighter as he looked back at her.
"Ruby, no! I didn't mean it that way!"
"How did you mean it then?" She pushes, pout still gracing her face at his earlier words.
Jaune let go of her and threw his hands up in exasperation at that before a small blush crept up his face.
"I-guh! Look, Ruby, you're amazing, beautiful, and a kickass Huntress. Anyone would be lucky to have your attention!"
"But?" Ruby continues, looking up at him with a frown on her face.
Jaune squirmed uncomfortably at the attention and he shakily looked away as he opened his mouth.
"But….you're 15, Ruby. You're too young."
Ruby stilled at that, an unknown feeling pooling her chest.
Fifteen? Too young? That was his excuse?
Oh. Oh no. That unknown feeling? She knew what it was now. It was happiness.
Gods, why was she feeling happy because of that?
She looked down towards the ground at that, a small smile crawling up her face as she fiddled with the edges of her cape.
Fifteen. She was fifteen and that was his only reason not to try and seduce her.
"So….if I wasn't too young, you would try and seduce me?" She asks breathlessly, heart beating fast while waiting for Jaune's answer.
She felt desirable. She felt like a woman and not a child as Jaune blushed embarrassedly.
Gods, what was wrong with her? Yet despite thinking that, she likes the confidence his reaction instills in her. Gone was her shyness and all that remained was a giddy and somewhat fluffy feeling.
"Ruby!" He screeches and Ruby's smile grows cheeky as she looks up back at him.
"Answer the question, Jaune."
"W-What do you even want me to say?!" He asks with a blush on his face to which Ruby only snickers while poking his chest.
"The truth. I want the truth."
She blushes prettily herself when she feels his eyes roam her up and down and before she knew it, she was cocking her hips and raising an eyebrow at him.
"Y-You're my best friend!" Jaune stuttered to which Ruby only nodded breathlessly.
"And you are mine." She answers softly, and wow was it just her or was it actually getting hotter?
Her palm lays on his chest and Jaune gasps as Ruby feels his rapidly beating heart.
Was this flirting? Was she actually flirting with her best friend? If so, Ruby could now actually get why Yang used to be so flirty. The fact that she could get a reaction like this from Jaune gave her satisfaction she used to think she would only get from building weapons.
Unbeknownst to her, her smile gets a little sultry before she is jolted out of her thoughts when Jaune speaks out.
"S-So if you were older I'd still want you to be my best friend, you know?!" Jaune squeaks, Ruby looked at him for a moment before laughing lightly.
"I'd always be your best friend, Jaune, but that doesn't answer my question."
"I-I don't know what you want me to say!" He leaned backward, pulling her hand away from him with his own.
"The truth, Jaune, like I said. It's a yes or no question. Are you going to seduce me or not?" She lets their hands be linked together and she smiles internally at how small, safe, and warm her hand felt under his.
"I-I don't even know how!" Jaune blushed brightly as a grin found its way on Ruby's face.
That was not a no.
There was a moment between them that Ruby knew she could have pushed Jaune further but she knew she was actually pushing it. She could already see people starting to look at them from the corner of her eyes and so she stepped back and let go of his hand to give both of them some space.
Even she needed a bit of space to calm her own racing heart down and cool her own face so she took a deep breath before looking back at Jaune.
"Are you really going to go with that, Jaune? You really expect me to believe you don't know how to seduce a woman?" She asks skeptically with a smirk on her face as she nods towards their friends' direction.
Jaune sighed loudly at that, feeling a lot more relaxed now that Ruby wasn't so close as to get his heart racing. Besides, there was an opportunity to steer the topic away from Ruby and he takes it with both hands.
"Look, I don't even know how that happened. I was just minding my own business and then…" Jaune blushed and Ruby could fill in the blank herself.
"And then Weiss was glurk-glurking you." She nods quietly, getting Jaune to cover his face in embarrassment.
The fact that she could say that stuff with a straight face surprises Ruby herself but she was too busy relishing Jaune's reaction to care about it.
"Gods, Ruby. Did you really have to say it like that?"
"Hey, I didn't hear you complaining last night." Ruby smirks, laughing as she sees Jaune choke on air.
"What exactly did you hear?" He asks in mortification, making Ruby laugh at his pale face.
That's right. He should be mortified! And so she winks at him.
"Wouldn't you like to know, Lover Boy?"
Was she laying it on too thick? Probably, but it was worth it just to see his horrified expression.
"Gods, Ruby, I'm so sorry." Jaune apologizes.
It was a repeat of their conversation from when Headmaster Ozpin just left but having had the time to already process her feelings and tease Jaune a bit, Ruby reacts a lot better than before.
"It's fine. As long as you understand and don't do it in our room again." She smiles softly at her best friend.
"R-Right! So we are good then?!" Jaune straightens up excitedly and Ruby laughs lightly at him.
"As long as you stop stealing my team, then yeah, we are good."
She likes this. The fact that they could have a conversation as casual as this right after an embarrassing one was a comfort to her soul. It was a testament to the friendship they had between each other.
Jaune looks at her strangely however.
"Stealing your team? I'm not stealing your team." He asks, stumped at her words from before.
She rolled her eyes at that, finding her heart lighter now that she was able to talk about this with Jaune. "First, there was Blake. Then last night was Weiss. I'm pretty sure Yang was flirting with you earlier this morning. Recently, it's always been Jaune this and Jaune that with them. Face it, Vomit Boy. You are stealing my team."
Jaune cringed at that before rubbing the back of his head bashfully.
"Right. Another thing I'm sorry for. What do you want me to do about that?"
Ruby shrugs at that. She didn't really know what to do about something like that and she says so to Jaune.
"I don't know? Maybe don't entertain them too much? I don't exactly have any experience with this kind of situation."
"Neither do I. Sometimes, I can't believe I'm in this kind of situation in the first place myself. I didn't actually set out to be in this type of relationship, you know?"
"Right, you have your girlfriends to thank for that." Ruby snickered as Jaune groaned tiredly.
"Please don't remind me. I still don't know why they are doing what they are doing."
Ruby laughed loudly at that before shaking her head at her best friend.
"You're something else, Jaune. Any other guy would be happy to be in your situation but here you are complaining."
"I mean, I'm not really complaining but a warning would be appreciated." Jaune smiled bashfully.
Ruby snorted at that before a smirk overtook her face If there was ever a time to tell him the truth then it was this time.
"A warning, huh? Well, here's a warning. They're planning to build you a harem with my team and Nora is hoping to push you to my team so you and Pyrrha could move into our room and she and Ren can have your room all to themselves."
His eyes widened comically at her words and he looks panickedly at his team before snapping back towards her
"A harem? What? Nora what?!"
Ruby only laughed loudly at him and before she could even reply, they all heard the snapping of Professor Goodwitch's riding crop.
"Team leaders, please follow me. It seems Team CFVY are scheduled to return from their mission anytime now. It would be good for all of you to listen to their advice while they are fresh from the field." Professor Goodwitch announces and gathers all of their attention.
"Welp, duty calls. Do you even have a mission for your team?" She asks while turning back to Jaune. She doesn't actually remember him picking a mission from the Selection Stand but he only panickedly looks at her while showing her his Scroll.
"Already have one but forget about that. Weiss told me that Pyrrha and Blake were trying to build me a harem but what do you mean harem with your team? How do you know this? Who is in on this plan? Since when?" Jaune asks desperately but just to mess with him even more, Ruby turns around to follow Professor Goodwitch before looking behind her shoulder at Jaune with half-lidded eyes and a shy smile on her face.
"Jaune, I'll be 16 this year."
He reels back at that, tilting his head as he looks at her.
"Congratulations?"
She laughs before giving him a wink and a smirk.
"I'll be older."
"...What?" He asks with wide eyes and she could see the moment the realization hits him.
Instead of answering his question however, she opts to walk forward with a smile on her face.
Her eyes lock with Pyrrha as she moves to follow Professor Goodwitch out of the hall.
Any other time, Ruby would squirm under the scrutiny of her green eyes but this time, Ruby knew some more truths about herself that she actually felt like she matured a bit during the span of one conversation.
First, Jaune was her best friend and he will always be her best friend.
Second, flirting and teasing him was fun though she was aware that she herself was just as affected.
And third….well, maybe Pyrrha had the right idea that just because Jaune was her best friend doesn't mean he couldn't be her boyfriend too.
There was a difference though. Pyrrha, Blake, and even Weiss seemed to have thrown themselves to Jaune willingly.
Ruby was different however, she wasn't going to throw himself into his arms. If he wanted her, then he needed to work for her.
Though, she had a sneaking suspicion deep inside herself that he didn't need to work that hard.
Him willing to wait until she was older was already giving him plus points in her book because as much as she was opening herself up to that possibility, she didn't think she was ready just yet.
Her heart raced inside her chest and she was sure she was already blushing as Pyrrha looked at her but Ruby only gave her a wink and a smile as Jaune tried to desperately follow her while asking questions.
And so, Ruby Rose leaves the hall with Jaune Arc trailing behind her like a confused puppy.
OMAKE:
Cardin Winchester was not stupid enough to be blind to his own faults and so when he saw Team CFVY enter the classroom Professor Goodwitch wrangled them in, he immediately looked to Jaune Arc for help.
Before today, he would have looked at the guy with contempt but recent truths coming to light changes all of that.
First, Cardin respected strength and even if he didn't want to admit it, nobody could deny that Jaune Arc was getting stronger at a monstrous pace. It was actually unfair how much he was improving considering Cardin knew the guy faked his transcripts. Yet he had no leg to stand on because if Jaune Arc can survive in this line of work then what right did Cardin have to push him away from it? And so, contempt turns into grudging respect.
That grudging respect turns easy however when Jaune Arc showed he had the balls to lay the law down by having Neptune Vasilias, the pathetic shit that he was, stuffed into a locker and launched into Vale.
Respect however turns into awe because of the truths Neptune shared to them. Jaune Arc was in a relationship with both Pyrrha Nikos and Blake Belladonna. Damn. Even Cardin could admit he had nothing but awe for the guy after knowing that. Just bagging one of those women was enough but both of them? What kind of man did he have to be to have two grade-A babes willing to share him? An impressive one that was for sure.
More than that however, was the fact that Jaune Arc apparently managed to hook Sun Wukong up into a threesome with twins! TWINS, he says!
Russel even started worshiping the guy as a god after that!
So if there was anyone who could help him with his current predicament then it was going to be Jaune Arc.
Cardin walked beside him, busy as he was trying to pester the little Rose, Jaune didn't notice him until Cardin elbowed him to get his attention.
"Cardin, what do you want?" Jaune hissed, rubbing his side but Cardin only nudges his head towards Team CFVY's direction.
No words needed to be said as Jaune sighs loudly. "Alright, fine. I'll help you."
"Thanks man." Cardin smiles, giddy at what Jaune would do to help him. He doesn't expect the guy to just raise his hand however.
"Hey, Velvet! Cardin has something to say to you!" Jaune shouts, having everyone turn their attention towards Cardin.
Expectedly, Cardin freezes even as Jaune pushes him forward.
"What are you doing, man?" Cardin hisses but Jaune only whispers from behind.
"Trust me, this is the best chance you are going to get. Just apologize and say your feelings if you can."
Easy for him to say! He didn't have Velvet and her teammates suddenly piercing him with their stares!
"This better be good, Arc." Coco Adel growls but Jaune only laughs at her.
"Trust me, it is. Give Cardin a chance, Coco, you might find him to be better than you expected."
Coco stiffened up at that before looking at him meaningfully. "You sure, Arc?"
"Yup."
"Hmmm….I guess I can give you a chance." Coco hummed thoughtfully before smiling at him.
Cardin froze at that. Was this….Was Jaune helping him get a threesome of his own?!
Velvet Scarlatina and Coco Adel.
Damn.
Cardin admits it, if Arc manages to pull this off for him, he was going to join Russel's religion and worship the man.
Yet it was that thought that became Cardin's downfall.
Because as he steps forward in front of Velvet and Coco, his smile turns lecherous.
Cardin never had the chance to open his mouth because Velvet's palm was already flying towards his face.
