Chapter 1
"Thank you for your purchase!"
"You're welcome, man! Can't wait to try this boy right now!"
I bid farewell to another satisfied customer who smiled back at me, bringing his newly bought fishing goods with light steps to the beach, probably trying to catch some fish.
Currently, I was working at the fishing store near the beach of this town.
Calling it a town was a bit overstatement if I might say, given the entire area was basically a small island at first, but later the town folks started to build a town which later became famous for its tourist destinations.
Most of the people here were fishermen, where they're going to the sea to catch fish for their daily jobs.
Of course it's also included some creatures who's considered the largest population in this world, dwarfing even humans themselves.
Speaking about those creatures, It was also behind the counter where I am currently standing, mostly already processed as snacks which is a popular delicacy in this town.
I was cleaning the shop after selling another product when a tanned, sturdy hand then clapped onto my back, as the owner smiled in satisfaction. "That's another satisfied customer again, lad! Ever since you started to work here, my income has steadily increased with big profits!"
I smiled at my boss. "Just doing my job properly."
He just laughed harder while patting my shoulder repeatedly. "Bah! Nonsense! This old man knows when someone can give him a profit when he sees one!"
"Boss, I know you're happy but my shoulder is getting cramped here." I smiled through my pained shoulder, it's gotta be already red now, considering how big his hand was.
Not surprisingly, my boss stopped torturing my shoulder while laughing heartily. "Ops, gotta stop torturing my money making guy here, lest he will stop giving me more money!"
Soon after, my shift finally ended for today, as I just prepared myself to leave after getting my daily wages. But my boss stopped me from immediately leaving the shop.
"Son, I know I can really hold you forever here, given your dream to be a pokémon trainer," he began to speak, while looking at me compassionately. "But are you sure with your choice as your starter? I know I am not that wealthy to give you any fancy ones, but at least I can try to get you some decent ones from the nearby market, like a Staryu or Seel. Or we can try to catch something better with the help of my Poliwhirl-"
"Please boss," I cut him while smiling in understanding. "I understand that you're trying to help me, but I am satisfied with my current ones."
My boss just sighed, bemused at my refusal. "I still don't get why you chose that pokémon to be your starter, it's pretty much a garbage pokémon. Even if its evolution is known as one of the most beautiful creatures in this world, the number of people who own it can be counted with one hand."
I just laughed at my disgruntled boss complaining about my starter. "Then I will be the next person who owns its evolutionary form."
My boss just snorted at my words. "Sure lad! keep dreaming because it's all about dreams for all youngsters like you! And the next thing I know, you suddenly have its evolution form in your disposal!"
Well, I can't blame him for that.
Given his limited knowledge about evolution, it was normal for him to see my first pokémon as common garbage. It mostly lived in muddy water, or in the bottom of lakes or rivers. Many predators often consumed it, mostly due to how weak it was alongside its counterpart, who was even below my starter on the bottom of the food chain.
But then again, I was not a normal trainer with knowledge based on this world's common sense.
After all, this world itself was nothing but a mere fiction for me, before I somehow got stranded in here.
Being transmigrated into the pokémon world, that's something that I never expected. Nor that I even know that I will be transported into this world, without any premonition.
Heck, if I knew I was gonna be transported into this world, at least I would've downloaded the entire content of any information I could get from the internet.
Back then, I was walking outside my house, strolling to the nearest market to buy some late snack, before finding myself standing in the middle of the beach, confused. My confusion turned into morbid horror as I yelped the moment I saw a Shellder crawling near my shoes, its eyes looked at me in curiosity.
Which made me realize where I was.
The world of Pokémon.
And I am just being transported from my own world without any warning into this universe, like a shitty B-rated Isekai manga that I used to reach in boredom, before completely sacking it due to monotonous plot and repeatable cliche romcom.
What an irony indeed.
Also, I somehow got de-aged back to my teenager self.
Very classy and cliche for the reincarnation indeed, if I must say.
But beggars cannot choose something that shoved into him, so I kind of needed to adapt with my current predicament.
Honestly, it was hard. And sometimes I missed my mother, my family, and my friends.
But alas, I can't simply keep dreaming about the past and need to focus on the present.
After all, I could also consider this as my second chance of experiencing youth once again. Something that I began to appreciate these days, especially with my current body being much healthier than my previous ones.
"Well, see ya for tomorrow, boss! I am gonna go training with my starter!" I bid my leave toward my boss, who just snorted after hearing what I said, as he responded by waving his burly hands while smirking brightly.
"Sure, lad! Just don't be too late tomorrow or I'm gonna cut your salary!"
I just laughed at his attempt to lighten the mood. "Never gonna dream about it boss! I got something I want to buy and I can't delay it much longer!"
"That's why don't be late!" said my boss in a stern tone, somehow befitting for his role as my guardian. "And you better come home right on time or my Poli is gonna drag you back!"
I smirked while waving my right hand, my feet to a huge step, running towards a particular shop not far from my boss's fishing stand.
There, an old lady seemed to be sitting alone, waiting for a customer when her face brightened upon seeing my approaching figure. "It's good to see you today as well, Zale."
"Good day for you as well, Cordelia," I replied to her while taking a few pokedollars from my pocket. "I'll have the usual pokeblocks."
The old woman quickly worked for my order, which is amazing for such a elderly person like her.
But then again, it was a normal sight in my former world, where most old people are not just weak elderly people, as some of them can even lift something way bigger than their own body, even as far as working in the field for the entire day.
Speaking about my current name, it's a given name by my boss. For some reason, I had forgotten almost everything about my previous origin. I know that I had a mother, two older siblings, and a bunch of friends that I remembered their faces well.
Except for their names.
I cannot remember anything about their names, let alone my name.
That's why my boss gave me a new name, which had a meaning related to the sea since according to him, I was found strolling alone around the beach, as if I just appeared from the sea itself.
Hence why, he gave me that name. Zald, meaning the strength of the sea.
It was a freaking epic name, if I must say.
"Here's your pokeblocks, son."
Seems like I got too absorbed with my muse, which made me nearly splutter in shock when Cordelia gave me a bunch of Pokéblocks wrapped in a transparent plastic.
She just smiled in amusement. "A penny on your thought, Zale? Maybe it's due to your future purchase?"
I nodded at her. "Half of it, yeah. I just need a little more cash and I can finally grab the stuff you've been saving for me."
"Dear, you can just take it now and pay me later."
I shake my head in refusal. "I don't want to have a debt on someone."
She sighed hearing what I said, but smiled in response. "An admirable principle, I guess I cannot really change your mind."
I smiled while shaking my head. "I need to go, thanks for the pokéblocks."
"Godspeed, Zale. And please be careful."
"I will, thanks for that Cordelia."
Waving at the old woman, I left her while taking a huge leap, running towards my designated area where I used it as my training area nowadays.
It didn't take long for me to reach the secluded place in the furthest corner of Dewford beach. While putting my feet somewhere near my ankle on the ocean, I quickly took my pokéball, then released the pokémon inside into the water.
The object of my muse appeared with the flash of white, as it then swam inches closer to me. It was a shabby, old-looking, fish with a light brown body covered in dark, irregular spots. It was looking at me with its huge eyes, as its big pink lips flatly mumbled about something incoherently.
I just smiled at the fish, as it was just simply circling my feet, which was half submerged into the cold water of the ocean, occasionally brushing its silky body with my skin.
"Fee…"
"It's time for your daily training, Feebas."
It muttered something beneath the water, but quickly obliged my order as Feebas then swam to the nearest rock.
Taking a breath, my Feebas then spewed a small bluish beam from its mouth, hitting the tall boulder where it quickly froze a sizable portion of it.
"Not good enough, you still haven't fully mastered Ice Beam enough to freeze the entire boulder. Do it again several times."
Feebas grumbled at my order, but she didn't rebuke it, as she repeated her move, hitting the huge boulder with numerous bluish arctic energy.
I smiled while I began to reminisce about how I met this strong headed girl.
It was just a mere coincidence when I wandered around, looking for any interesting pokémon to be my starter alongside with my boss and his Poliwhirl when I stumbled upon her.
It was a funny sight, seeing a Feebas who struggled to get free from a Pelipper who was trying to devour it. But it also sparked my interest, seeing a Feebas, bigger than its usual size with such tenacity, trying its best to survive from its natural predator.
I responded to it by throwing my pokéball, hitting Feebas head-on while ignoring my boss who was yelling in dismayed tone, asking about why I have to 'waste' a pricey pokeball for a mere garbage pokémon like Feebas.
Naturally, I ignored him as I caught my starter, while also making the Felipper to leave in annoyance of losing its prey.
Not my business.
Well, that's how I managed to get my first starter.
And she didn't disappoint me at all.
After checking her moves, it truly astounded me that a freaking Feebas somehow managed to know Rain Dance, and also Ice Beam on top of her normal moves like Splash and Tackle.
I literally hit a jackpot with her.
Once again, I snapped from my thoughts as I felt Feebas silky skin caressing my feet.
"Done already with your training, girl?"
She replied by saying a simple 'fee' in a flat tone, while its rounded, big eyes were looking at me as if demanded for something.
I just laughed as I took pokeblocks from my pocket, giving Feebas her well-deserved treat, which she took it with gusto, devouring everything in a flash.
"... Soon, Feebas," I whispered to my starter, which earned her full attention. "I just need to save a few more pokedollars to buy the item you need to evolve, and soon, you will be a beautiful, strong Milotic."
A strong splash was what I got from her, as Feebas then swam around with excitement in her face.
It took me several days.
Saving money, working diligently in my boss's fishing shop, training Feebas after my shift ended, then going back home to rest. Doing it everyday as it already has become my daily routine.
But finally the effort has paid off.
Finally I've got enough cash to buy the item that I wanted most ever since I've got Feebas.
The Prism Scale.
An item that was introduced in generation VI, or during Kalos expansion in the pokemon games series, that can instantly evolve Feebas into Milotic by merely giving it to the pokemon.
To be honest, it was weird that almost nobody knows about this trick, but I guess they just recently found it in Kalos, and haven't released it yet in public for safety measures.
Or they just simply didn't know about this information, and all of the Feebas owners are just narrow-minded for not sharing it.
Well, either way it's not my business.
But of course, I am not just simply letting such easy evolution methods get over my head. While I was saving money for Prism Scale in order to evolve Feebas, I also trained her diligently to build her inner energy, as well as preparing her physique so she will not experience any sort of dysfunctional organ after evolution.
As I approached Cordelia's shop, she just simply stared at me with a knowing expression. "Finally you made it, Zale."
I nodded at her. "Yeah, it took me more time than I anticipated, but finally I have enough money to buy it."
Cordelia smiled warmly while showing me what I was looking for.
A multicolored scale which is composed of a bluish and pinkish color, in a shape of semi triangle form.
An item that I longed for almost two months.
And now it finally happened.
I took it from Cordelia's hand, while also giving the necessary cash to her. "Thanks for keeping one for me, I know that you saved this one just for me, and I really appreciated it."
In response, she just laughed in delight. "Bah, can't fool a youngster's sharp mind!"
I simply smirked while shrugging my shoulders. "In my defense, you are not entirely hiding it from plain view."
"Bah! Small details, Zale!" barked Cordelia in laughter. "Now go and get your dream girl happy with it!"
I snorted at how she misinterpreted my intention, but I just let it slide. Though I wondered how she would react when I was saving this for my starter, who was technically a female Feebas.
That would be a hilarious sight when I brought Milotic with me.
Leaving Cordelia after bidding my goodbye, I then took a sprint towards my usual spot.
I then released Feebas the moment I arrived in the ocean, as she then looked at me with anticipation.
"It's the time," I said while showing Feebas the thing I bought earlier. Her eyes shone in anticipation as she greedily bounced from the water and landed near my feet. Laughing at her excited behavior, my right hand moved to pet Feebas's wet skin, which she instantly responded by looking directly at my eyes.
No need to delay it any further, as I simply extended my hand, placed the object directly on Feebas's head.
Suddenly, she glowed white.
Pale, bluish light emitting from her entire body. I watched in amazement, eyes widened in glee, as the shape of light changed. Her previous size began to rapidly expand, growing longer, slowly taking a shape resembling a serpentine creature. Two, hair-like finn began to expand from above her eyes, growing longer to almost half of her size. The tip of her tail then spreaded into four different finns.
As the evolution finished, I was currently face-to-face directly with a majestic serpentine creature with a cream-colored body, where its lower body had a pattern of diamond-shaped blue and pink scales and black veins. Its big, rounded red eyes were looking at me with joyful expression, as it slithered close to me, rubbing its head on my right forehand while letting out a soft coo.
Caressing Milotic soft skin, I silently observed her, noticing how she is a big girl. Nearing thirty feet in length or almost nine meters long, which was almost one and half times bigger than a normal Milotic. Her skin color on the lower body was also darker and much more vibrant, which contrasts with the usual lighter skin of Milotic that I have known for a long time.
"Coo~"
"W-what the hell!?" In the distance, I heard a familiar voice exclaim out loud in surprise. Confusion decorated his expression as my boss hastily approached me, eyes widened in disbelief as he was looking at my evolved starter. "What-How-Why do you have-!"
Looks like my boss was too bewildered to even form proper sentences. Thumbs shakily pointed at my starter, who just cooed while staring at him with a flat expression as well.
I just let him process the whole thing for a while, as I gently rubbed my starter's silky scales, which earned me another lovely gesture from Milotic, who rubbed her face at my chin in response.
Though I wondered how long he would be in this state.
-To Be Continued-
Author Note: Just a small pokemon fic that I've been planning for a while. Short chapter cuz this is technically a prologue snippet, and probably the fastest one I've written so far since I worked with this today.
This fic is decided by roll and votes, so I can pick pokemon in Hoenn available later for vote.
Feel free to suggest, though I may or may not taking your suggestion.
As for me, I've already decided for four pokemon so far.
Anyway, leave me some review for making me a happy guy.
Next update will also be another Snippet, which is danmachi SI as well. I already worked with it for a while, reaching 5k so far.
Well, I guess that's it.
See you in the next chapter.
