Training with Wallace is not as intense as I expected.
Well, at least that's for me, since Milotic is the one who gets it rough from Wallace's Milotic as currently she's being manhandled by the older Milotic, who is pretty much taking a shine on my Milotic, practically drilling her in intense training.
As for me, I am currently being taught by the Water Master about a bunch of things related to technical information about pokemon.
Well, I easily aced it thanks to my knowledge from my previous world.
I had to hold myself from laughing as I watched Wallace's complicated expression when he silently heard about everything that I knew, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I must say, It's incredible that you possess such a large amount of knowledge about pokemon." Wallace mused, clearly impressed with what I just showed. "... But to think that you even know about the fairy-type which was recently discovered by professor Sycamore, and the existence of Mega Evolution as well… I am honestly at a loss of words right now."
"Is it a bad thing?" I cannot help but ask about it. I did know that the knowledge about Mega Evolution is guarded well for those who know about the method to obtain it.
Given the secrecy about it and how the pokemon organizations are yet to discover the rest of pokemon capable of utilizing Mega Evolution, most trainers have not grown accustomed with that feature which was introduced in Generation VI.
Wallace just shaked his head. "While I do have some questions regarding how you managed to obtain the knowledge of Mega Evolution, it doesn't have much of an impact since the pokemon league is planning to make an official statement about it."
I sighed in relief, I guess I did reveal too much regarding Pokemon from my meta knowledge.
Imagine if I told him about other features from later generations, with the likes of Z-move and Gigantamax also existing in Alola and Galar, it would be really suspicious for someone to know something that doesn't exist yet.
"But given you have a vast knowledge regarding pokemon information, such as knowledge about how pokemon typing works, the advantage and disadvantage for each type, and even some things that I didn't expect such as the role of each pokemon in pokemon battle, I still rate your practical knowledge as nothing but mediocre."
I frowned at what Wallace said, but didn't rebuke his statement.
Because it's true that I lacked the practical method that most professional trainers possessed.
Real-life battle experience, something which I haven't truly experienced thoroughly. Sure, I've trained and done a few matches with my boss, but it was more like a tutorial than an actual battle as Milotic was still Feebas back then, making Old Poli battle her half-heartedly while laughing at my face about how 'useless' she was.
Well, I guess I can understand why Milotic disliked my boss now.
No wonder Milotic kept slapping him whenever I let her out in the house. My boss just made a problem for himself by continuously laughing at her, making her hold a grudge against him which she is now free to act upon after evolving.
How ironic, now the situation has been reversed.
"Even so, you already have the basics down, and there's nothing I can really teach you about that," said Wallace while rubbing his chin. "I might as well give you a trainer license as soon as possible."
I blinked, then looked at Wallace in shock.
"Wait, you can do that, Mr. Wallace?"
Wallace just smirked at me. "Boy, did you forget who I am? Aside from Brawly who's currently unavailable in this island, I am also a gym leader, and thus own the legal means of granting a trainer license to those I deem worthy of getting one."
I looked at him skeptically.
As far as I know, the rule is mostly done with participating in a provisional test from official tester with legal permission from pokemon organization, but I don't think Wallace is the type who lie easily, so it means that he does have some sort of privilege to directly give anyone who impresses him a trainer license.
Man, honestly it's a bit like cheating for me to easily obtain it without going through a test.
But oh well, I guess I'll accept it.
Not to mention, refusing it would probably negatively affect my relationship with Wallace right now, considering that he directly picked me as his student.
"Thinking ill about your mentor now, dear Zale?" Wallace stared at me while smiling knowingly.
Oops, caught red handed.
"Kind off," I answered him. "I've been preparing myself for the provisional test in nearby Pokemon Gym, which is Brawly's Gym, for a while now in order to obtain my trainer license, then suddenly I found myself getting one without even conducting any test. I could say that I was a bit skeptical about this, but I also don't want to refuse as I felt that refusing might offend you, Mr. Wallace."
Hearing my reason, Wallace outright laughed as he patted my shoulders, grinning. "Fear not, dear Zale! Because I am a compassionate man that will never harbor any ill intent for a simple thought like that! Also, I am delighted with your honesty, showing that you are a considerate youngster, which is why I am glad to be your mentor! And as your mentor, I wanted the best for his student. Which is why I wanted to give you your trainer license!"
… Well, I guess it makes sense, in some part.
Also if I remember, by getting a trainer license from a pokemon gym, you also have a chance of getting a random pokemon corresponding with the typing of that gym.
So in a sense, I would get another water-type pokemon from Wallace depending on the situation.
But let's not talk about that, yet. Because I already got Milotic as my starter. And while she's strong by a regular trainer's standard, she still has a long way to go.
"Miiiii~~!"
While I was deep in my thoughts, suddenly a serpentine figure blurred and crashed into me, nearly making me fall into the ground if I didn't catch it on reflexes. I immediately recognized who was the culprit, given she is currently wrapped on my body with her head literally glued on my chin. She cried out in distress.
"There, there." I softly whispered while caressing her silky scales, trying to ease her discomfort. Seeing her cry while spotting her body is covered by numerous small injuries that have begun to heal.
It did make her 'hug' me tighter.
In the corner of my eyes, I spotted Wallace's Milotic approaching us with a sheepish expression, while Wallace just nodded at me with a big smile on his face.
"Done with the training? I didn't know that your Milotic has a habit of bullying the younger, Mr. Wallace."
The older Milotic whined in protest hearing my accusation, while Wallace just barked in laughter once again. "What politeness laced with sarcasm, young Zale! I am starting to think that you're actually talented at making people uncomfortable!"
"Well, I wouldn't have to gaslight your Milotic if she had been more delicate with my poor Milotic." I said jokingly while stroking Milotic's head, which helped immensely as she enjoyed my touch, purring in satisfaction.
"I don't know what you mean about gaslighting, dear Zale, but I will have to agree with you! My dear, while I know you adore the younger Milotic and want her to grow stronger, I have to ask you to be gentler in the next training session!"
Wallace's Milotic cooed sadly, while looking at my Milotic in an apologetic manner.
I do feel bad about her, as her intentions were pure.
But at the same time, I also prayed for my Milotic, wishing that nothing happens which will leave her traumatized later.
-Line Break-
I met her during the second day of my training with Wallace.
During our next training session, Wallace began to teach me about the basics of pokemon battle by doing an exhibition with our respectives Milotic. The purpose of this training is for me to get accustomed to real-life pokemon battles which require a high level of thought acceleration in action and reaction.
We're in the middle of our training when she appeared, yelling at both I and Wallace, stopping our training session.
"Hey~! You didn't tell me that you will be visiting, uncle!"
I turned my head on the source, while Wallace just smiled wryly upon hearing a cheerful feminine voice that he recognized immediately.
The owner of the voice is a girl who approached both of us from a distance, along with a blue avian pokemon whose body is covered with fluffy wings that resembled clouds, which I quickly recognized as Altaria, a dual Dragon/Flying type that was pretty common in Hoenn.
As for the girl herself, she was a captivating adolescent dressed in an unique outfit.
She has bluish teal hair with two bangs, which on her left side is clipped by a tiara that holds a peculiar orb, and a high ponytail. She's wearing blue and white sleeveless top that exposes her belly, a white shorts laced with blue and white frills, a pair of anklets around her light blue shoes, a single blue and white stripes stockings donned in her left leg, and finished with accessories on her shoes, arms, and shoulders resembled clouds, which matched well with Altaria who accompanied her.
Despite her minor appearance in Generation Six Pokemon games, I recognized her immediately.
Wallace's niece, and also the top coordinator in Hoenn, Lisia.
Though one thing that I noticed, that she is much older than her game counterpart, she was presumably around my age and not only that, she was also a lot more curvaceous as well.
'Especially her voluptuous breast.' I gulped while mentally trying to calm myself. I'll be damned, that thing is stacked as hell.
"My dear niece, Lisia! I didn't know that you were planning to visit this place!" Wallace happily greeted his niece while throwing his arms around her. She immediately returned his hug with a big smile.
"Uncle Wallace! You didn't tell me that you were visiting Dewford either! If I knew I'd definitely be tagging along!" Lisia pouted at her uncle, while her Altaria approached Wallace's Milotic, giving the elder pokemon a greeting which she responded by cooing in happy tune, like she was greeting her children.
Milotic just stared at the family reunion with confusion as she opted to approach me instead.
"Miii…?"
"It's kind of normal, since that girl is practically his niece."
"... Loo."
"Well, I technically had my boss as my surrogate father figure, even if we weren't related by blood, but I still looked up at him like that."
"...Miooo."
"Of course, I also regard you as family." I caressed her chin, which she appreciated greatly.
"Hello!"
I turned my head when I heard someone calling me, as I saw Lisia approach me along with her Altaria, who was chirping in a bright smile. "Sorry for calling you out all of a sudden, but I wanted to know more about the person who my uncle Wallace took as his student!"
"S-sure," I answered her awkwardly, holding myself from outright glancing at the twin valleys of her cleavage, which were currently very close to me. Not to mention how short she was despite having a sinful body for a girl who was still in the middle of her teenage years.
Heck, this girl was like around my shoulder for Arceus sake!
"My name is Lisia Winstrate! I am a pokemon coordinator and this is my partner, Ali!" said Lisia with a cheerful tone as she introduced her Altaria, who flapped its wings cutely.
"Aiii~~!"
Good calling, Altaria! Your presence proved to be a good distraction for me to calm myself!
Recomposing myself, I smiled while offering my hand towards her. "Nice to meet you, I am Zale."
Instead of taking my hands, she looked at me with curiosity. "No last name?"
I just shook my head on hearing her response. "Nope, it's a long story and I feel like I would bore you with it."
"... Hmmm, suspicious." Lisia glanced at me with narrowed eyes as if she was investigating me, and honestly, it enhanced her cuteness even more instead of making her look scary.
Control yourself, Zale. You're much older than she is!
"Okay… But I will ask for it someday!" said Lisia while taking my offered hand with her smaller, delicate hand. "Nice to meet you, Zale. I've heard about you from news and rumors that surfaced during my trip. Apparently there's someone who owns a Milotic, and he is the youngest to own one so far. And it seems like the rumors were true since my uncle was already here in Dewford before me!"
She said while glancing at my Milotic with adoration on her face, though the last part of her sentence is directed at Wallace, who just laughed upon hearing his niece's sarcastic tone.
"Well, my dear niece! To be fair, I tried to contact you as well, but you didn't answer my calls at all! That's why I went by myself to meet young Zale!"
Lisia stammered as she quickly fired an accusation back. "B-but the calls were too late! And during that time, I had no signal at all since I was on a plane!"
"Still, not answering your dear uncle back~! You cannot blame me for my curiosity too!" Wallace simply shot the final blow, which totally ended the debate with absolute victory, leaving Lisia pouting with her cheek bloated in cute angry face.
"Muuuuu! Dear uncle, you cheater!"
Wallace just laughed, clearly basking in his victory in this childish banter, while his Milotic and Lisia's Altaria just sighed simultaneously. Seems like they were already quite used to this.
I laughed at their banter, feeling the warmth of their interaction as a family, which kind of saddens me since I am currently unable to meet with my own family, whose face I cannot remember at all.
But I am still fine.
I have my boss, and I also have Milotic who was faithfully on my side.
And now I have Wallace, acting as my first teacher ever since I was transported into this world.
"Okay, fine!" pouted Lisia as she quickly approached me, taking my bigger hand with her smaller ones. "Zale! Please let me pat your Milotic! Pretty please? I have really wanted a Milotic ever since my uncle had it, but I still couldn't obtain one even after spending lots of time with a bunch of Feebas!"
I sighed, while silently slapped my own embarrassment as I felt her soft, delicate hands touching mine. "You need to get her permission about that. And for your information, not even Mr. Wallace is able to get along with my Milotic until now."
"What!? Then how am I supposed to get chummy and hug your Milotic as much as I want?"
Milotic just gave her a dry look, while slithered back from Lisia.
Seems like it will take much longer before we can continue with my training again.
-Line Break-
Unfortunately, like all good things in life, today's training had to end. Quite early too, as Wallace wanted to catch up with his niece after all this time, and left after promising a trainer's license for me the next time we met. The worst part about the training ending early for me though was not being able to sneak some more glances at Lisia.
The second worst part, I needed to pass through the fish market if I wanted to get back home in a reasonable time, and Pokemon World or not, the nauseating stench of dead fish was something which I doubt I would ever get used to. Especially as someone who lived far away from the sea the first time around.
"Miiiii!" Milotic protested, whacking me on top of my head with her fins. A woman's intuition was a scary thing in an anime world…
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
Milotic's eyes narrowed, and I cursed myself for forgetting that Milotic are slightly psychic, what with their propensity for sensing and soothing emotions. She huffed and looked away from me snootily, with a look of mock offense on her face. After spending a few minutes patting and reassuring Milotic, she went back inside the pokeball, unwilling to endure the smell longer than she had to.
Which was for the better, honestly, because I am pretty sure that I would be mobbed by a group of tourists if they saw me walking around with a Milotic. After all, there were barely any trainers who owned one, and if you wanted to see a Milotic with your own eyes you better have the money to either go to one of Mr. Wallace's concerts, or go on an expedition and pray you were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of 'the most beautiful pokemon in the world'.
Well, if I had to go through the fish market, I might as well get some training out of it. Thinking back to Wallace's homework for me, I looked around the market for any potential trainers.
One thing which was never really apparent in the games and anime was just how prevalent Pokemon were in this world. Almost everyone had one, whether it be Pulse and Minum cheering for a fisherman as he tried to reel in a Magikarp or a Houndoom dogging a trainer looking for some fresh Pokemon chow. There was already a sizable crowd forming near the makeshift battle arenas around the beach, and I caught a glimpse of a bunch of sailors getting rowdy alongside their Pokemon.
Wallace asked me to identify the trainers from the crowd, and not only that, try to separate them according to their skill level. Wallace claimed that it was an essential skill to have for any trainer. The ability to pick up on someone's general skill level the moment you lock eyes with them…
Personally, I chalked it all up to aura bullshit, but I didn't mention my hypothesis to him.
After barely making any progress with gauging skill levels– seriously, I did not expect the old man to pull out a freaking Scizor and whoop the sailor's Magmar with it, I was just about ready to give up and make my way back to Boss' house when I saw it. A flash of gold temporarily blinding me, the sunlight hitting a golden Magikarp at just the right angle.
Now, according to conventional wisdom, raising a Magikrap was usually a bad idea. Rarely did it have the disposition needed to evolve into Gyarados, and most of the trainers who tried to goad their Magikrap into evolving usually did not succeed.
Or succeed too well and end up with a pissed off Gyarados in their hands. Which is why most trainers with Gyarados in their teams were either exceptionally lucky, or exceptionally skilled when it came to reading Pokemon.
And I… was neither. Considering the rarity of shiny Pokemon, it was nigh impossible for someone to find a Magikarp which was shiny as well as with the proper attitude needed to evolve and keep obeying your trainer. In fact, I am pretty sure Shiny Magikarp were colloquially referred to as 'Fool's Gold'.
And yet, there was a small part of me, the completionist who spent hours grinding in order to get all the achievements couldn't just let this rare drop go. Making up my mind, I walked up to the fisherman carrying his haul out of the water.
He looked up at me, and a hint of recognition passed through his eyes.
"Well, if it isn't our local celebrity," the man laughed genially, "what can I do for you, Zale?"
It was a little surprising to realize that people knew who I was beyond just as 'the boy with the Milotic'. He even remembered my name! Masking my surprise, I looked at him and said, "I saw a shiny Magikarp caught in your net, so I was wondering…"
"Oh!" His eyes flickered to his net with a hint of interest, "Y'know, normally I would get a bunch of collectors lining up to buy one of those. They pay outta their nose for them too."
Oh dear, I could already feel my wallet getting lighter. I wondered whether Mr. Wallace would be amenable to giving me a loan, or would it be too presumptuous to ask.
He looked at the serious look on my face, and laughed. "Take the fish, boy." He said, and for a moment I was certain that I misheard.
"Are you sure about that?" I asked.
"Does this look like the face of a joking man to you?" he asked with a massive grin on his face. "Feel free to take as many fishes as you like," here, he pointed at a corner, where I saw a pretty woman sitting in a booth selling fast food right next to the beach, "After all, it's because of you and that Milotic of yours that business is going so well."
"What?" I asked with no small amount of confusion. But all I did was walk around and train my Milotic, I doubt I've done anything to help him out.
"You think we have this much of a crowd every day? Nah, most of the folks are here just to catch a glimpse of your Milotic, or hunting Dewford for anything special which would've let your Feebas evolve. Why, I am pretty sure this place is going to be getting a lot of contestants carrying Feebas around here, once news of your Milotic spreads."
I see. There was definitely a charm surrounding Milotic, what with its rarity and its title of the most beautiful pokemon.
"So feel free to take any fish from me, it is just a small favor to repay the debt I owe you anyway!" He laughed at me.
Thanking the fisherman, I took up on his offer and used a Pokeball on the golden fish. I'd have preferred to introduce myself first, but maybe doing so right in the middle of a fish market next to the corpses of its brethren wasn't the smartest idea.
Leaving the market behind me, I released the Magikarp near the beach and looked at him for a second. Magikarp stared right back at me with a calm expression on his face. Surprisingly, it didn't seem to have the restless mania which inflicted most Magikrap, who usually spent most of their time splashing vigorously. This one, instead, seemed calm in an almost zen like manner.
Of course, I could just be coping, but I had a good feeling about this one.
"So," I asked, "would you like to be my Pokemon?"
-To Be Continued-
Author Note: Another chapter down
Same rules as before, this fic is decided by roll and votes, so I can pick pokemon in Hoenn available later for vote.
Another roll is pretty for Lisia, as I got 94 for her chance to appear sooner, and 95 for her staying duration. With that, both will spend around 9 days before they went back. Feel free to suggest, though I may or may not take your suggestion.
Like I said before, I've decided to take Magikarp as the first pick despite the votes still going on, and the first roll I got is 90 for Shiny, exactly the minimum number required. The next pokemon is decided between Seadra or Lapras according to the vote result.
Anyway, leave me some review for making me a happy guy.
Next update will be dropped soon, since I've already got the gist down as well.
Well, I guess that's it.
See you in the next chapter.
