Chapter 5
'The air is really thick.' I mused at myself while dripping with sweat, feeling uncomfortable with this unpleasant mood.
Currently, I was sitting in one of the cafes on the Beach with Wallace who wore an uncharacteristically serious expression, along with Lisia who looked nervous.
After the whole fiasco with my arrival on my Red Gyarados, Wallace quickly took control of the situation. I don't know how he managed to do it, but he was able to order a bunch of trainers to clear the whole beach from visitors, leaving the place devoid of people aside from us and a few shopkeepers, who looked wary as well.
Specifically, they were wary of my newest pokémon who was currently staying on the beach, where I found him being guarded by Wallace's entire team, who kept themselves on alert in case something happened.
Except for Whiscash, who had decided to have a chat with my Gyarados, who seemed to respond calmly.
Well, let's focus on them later, because I have a more important discussion to participate in. It feels weird though because Wallace hasn't talked at all since all of us sat in here.
Also, looking at Lisia, who is visibly nervous about the whole ordeal, I couldn't really let this atmosphere stand much longer, lest the mood will worsen.
Currently she's wearing a hoodie which hugged her torso loosely, covering upper body pretty well, though it didn't work well to cover her thick, toned thighs.
"So, did I get myself into trouble right now?"
"No, you didn't, Zale." Wallace immediately answered, much to my surprise. "You didn't know that the shiny Magikarp would turn out to be an Alpha. You didn't do anything wrong here…"
"Sure… Then what are we gonna talk about?" I couldn't help but ask. I mean, I could have guessed that having an Alpha was a big deal, especially a Shiny Alpha at that. I could also think of the warnings about owning an Alpha, especially something like a Gyarados, who are notoriously well known for being vicious pokémon.
Having an Alpha Gyarados is never a bright idea, as their destructive instinct is heightened into such an unimaginable margin that I could confidently say that an Alpha Gyarados was far more dangerous than a pack of angry Gyarados.
But I don't think the same was true about my own Alpha Gyarados.
Granted, its size is much bigger than a normal Alpha Gyarados–nearly three times bigger than a normal Gyarados, in fact. But it showed no hostility or any aggressive behavior even after evolution, retaining his pre-evolutionary nature perfectly.
"... Yeah, Uncle. You've been quiet for a long time…"
I nodded at Lisia who added her thoughts as well. She seemed rather uneasy about this whole mess, but still smiled back at me.
She's such a sweet girl, damn.
"While I wanted to talk to you about owning an Alpha, I still cannot comprehend how such a small Magikarp could evolve into… that." Wallace said while rubbing his hair, clearly distressed about the current situation.
"Perhaps this happened because Zale's Magikarp, now Gyarados, is rather young?"
"Honestly, I doubt that's the case, dear Lisia," Wallace replied back to his niece, some of his usual energy returning, "I've dealt with some cases related to Alphas before, but never have I seen an Alpha whose pre-evolutionary was much smaller than its final evolution."
"I think I know why, as I did some thinking about Magikarp's evolutionary process when his evolution turned out to be much bigger than it really should have," I said, causing both Lisia and Wallace to look at me.
"From what I've seen, the reason probably lies with my Gyarados' inability to regulate his nutrients due to the enhanced genes as a Magikarp, which slowed down his metabolism and gave it a much smaller size than the average Magikarp. But, on the other hand, all that unused nutrients had to go somewhere, and when Magikarp evolved he probably consumed all of it in order to fuel his growth."
My explanation brought a look of amazement on Lisia's expression, as all traces of nervousness simply vanished from her face. On the other hand, Wallace appeared to be deep in thought, as he slowly scratched his head as he considered my theory regarding the alpha gyarados.
"It is possible," he said. "This might just be the best theory we can come up with about the weird evolution of your Alpha Gyarados, and it might even explain his unusually calm nature for such a violent species as Gyarados."
"Well, it's not everyday that you ever find an Alpha Gyarados as calm as a Slowpoke like my Gyarados." I added some level of leeway to lighten the mood.
Lisia burst out laughing, but Wallace just rubbed his head. "That was a pretty poor joke, even by your standards, dear Zale."
"At least I tried! Give me some slack, teach!" I said while shrugging my shoulders.
"This is really not the time for humor, Zale." rebuked Wallace in a firm tone. "But okay, I won't continue harping on about it. I guess I've been taking this a little too seriously as well. My apologies for spoiling the mood."
I didn't mind it, Wallace being so worried only showed how much he cared about me, after all.
"Right," Wallace cut in. "Now, about your Alpha Gyarados. While I haven't seen much from this guy, given that you managed to ride it safely when he's flying along with Whiscash, I can assume that he gave his utmost trust to you to even make it evolve at this pace."
I nodded, that trust was the exact reason why Magikarp managed to evolve.
"But you owning an Alpha has also raised concerns," continued Wallace. "Namely, about your plans to raise it. Since Alpha Pokémon are bigger compared to regular Pokémon, you would need to prepare more funds towards your food. And as a fully evolved Pokémon, even a normal Gyarados isn't exactly a light eater. Because of their faster metabolism, Gyarados need a large amount of food in order to be properly nourished. As for the specifics of his diet, I will need to personally make contact with Professor Elm later on, as he is the expert on Pokémon breeding and thus would know the best method to raise your Gyarados."
"That would be helpful, thanks Mr. Wallace." I nodded in gratitude, as I had literally forgotten about that matter due to my excitement about having an Alpha Shiny.
"Another reason for concern we need to address is Gyarados' aggression. While I might easily say that it's likely not going to be a problem for you and your Gyarados since he trusted you, it would be of poor comfort to any stranger who approaches you later on."
"I understand, I will train him to properly behave around any stranger who approaches him."
"Hmmm… Having an Alpha sure seems tough," said Lisia, while playing with her fingers. "Zale, are you going to be okay with all of this?"
I smiled at her. "I've got this, don't worry."
Lisia then looked at me with a serious expression. "If you need anything, please contact me or my uncle, we will go to your place immediately to help."
I scratched my head. "While that's very nice of you, I don't have a phone yet."
"You don't have one?"
"Wait, how have you even been living without one?"
Having these two people immediately react like that honestly feels oddly comforting. I shook my head in response. "No, I don't have one. A mobile is kind of expensive and I can't really ask my boss to foot the bill for it as he had been living alone for a long while before helping me, so he didn't have enough money to buy one for me."
Hearing that, Lisia immediately took out her phone, while typing something furiously on it.
Wallace just smiled for some reason, but decided to get back to the topic. "Also while you should train Gyarados so he wouldn't immediately attack any stranger, you also need to be wary of pokémon thieves, or poachers in general. Having a Shiny that's also Alpha is like inviting them to find you and try to steal your Gyarados. Milotic too is a very rare Pokémon, so you would be in enough danger even without him, but both of them together is quite an appetizing target."
I narrowed my eyes about this part. "I will never let them steal any of my pokémon."
"Yes, I know you will never let those imbeciles steal your pokémon, but I must warn you that they will do anything to obtain your pokémon, so you must always be cautious. The news of you having a Milotic has already spread worldwide, and soon your Gyarados will be receiving the same treatment as well."
"Then I need to train them to be strong enough, to drive out those idiots dreaming of touching any of my pokémon, while also training myself so I can also deal against them on my own."
Wallace nodded. "Of course, I am not doubting your physical ability, given your physique is remarkable for someone your age."
I smirked in response.
The reason why I've grown this much is because of how much training I did during my stay with my boss. Honestly, it's just a personal reason of mine since my previous body was very frail, always easily getting sick or suffering from any climate change.
It sucked. And I don't want the same thing to happen again.
Oddly, when I was transported to this world, my body underwent some sort of change, where it became much healthier and stronger than ever.
Maybe it's a blessing from Arceus or something?
I don't really know, but I am totally welcoming it, and expressing my gratitude to anyone who made my body become like this.
"-Right, okay. Today is a must. Afternoon? Sure it's fine. Anything that can be delivered today. Okay, thank you manager!"
Apparently Lisia just finished with her phone calling, where she immediately looked at me. "Are you guys already finished talking?"
"Well, technically yes, but-"
"Great! Then let's play!"
Without even waiting for me to finish what I am about to say, Lisia immediately stood up while dragging me from the table, away from an exasperated Wallace who just smiled and nodded at me.
"W-wait a minute! Where are we going?" I asked, confused.
"To meet with your Gyarados!" said Lisia, looking back while smiling brightly. "Since it's very calm, I really wanted to meet with him!"
Well, I guess it's fine since my Red Gyarados is pretty much as docile as a baby pokémon, if you also take note of his unusually calm nature.
Both of us then returned back to the beach, where the situation was much more relaxed compared to the previous one. I can see Wallace's pokémon are currently divided by two groups.
The first group, which is simply content by watching from the sidelines, is composed of Walrein, Tentacruel, and Whiscash. I guess they're probably the calmer ones in Wallace's team, as they just gathered in a small group, greeting me and Lisia upon noticing us.
Tentacruel especially greeted Lisia with enthusiasm, to which she responded with a similar gesture.
The second group is currently surrounding my own Red Gyarados, who towered over every single of them. Mostly they chatted animatedly while growling, grunting, or simply yelping with a lively atmosphere. The most active one was Lucidolo as he kept talking in cheerful manner, then Lisia's Altaria which was in a similar mood as the Grass and Water type, and surprisingly Wallace's Gyarados who was acting as the older, parental figure, due to how he presented himself in a calm manner, to which my Red Gyarados also responded quite respectfully.
Meanwhile, my Milotic and Wallace's Milotic didn't really participate much in this pokémon social gathering, preferring to talk with each other, and sometimes they responded quite well.
Though my Milotic is less enthusiastic, as I can see that she looked tense while pretty much staring at Gyarados with jealousy.
When they saw both of us approaching, they quickly responded with a chorus of greetings. As Lisia quickly let go of my hand, while approaching my Red Gyarados with excitement. "Whoa! I just realized how big you truly are, now that I'm this close!"
I was just eyeing my Gyarados, who nodded in understanding, as he responded by letting out a small roar.
Lisia squealed as she began to rain down on Gyarados while talking animatedly, where her Altaria also joined in joyful chirp.
Using this opportunity, I quickly approached my Milotic.
When she saw me, she immediately let out a sad coo, while resting her head on my shoulder.
"Hey girl, how is your day?"
"Miii…"
I smiled at her lack of response, as she was just content by sharing her body heat by wrapping herself around my body. "I know, I know. You're still my girl no matter what, okay."
"Milo…"
"Don't be sad. You're still my starter, and that can never be replaced by anyone."
"Mii…!"
"I know, and I am sorry for leaving you with Wallace. I also apologize for prioritizing Gyarados more than you lately."
"... Milo…"
"Nah, he's pretty much your comrade, and since you're older, you should show it by talking to him. He's pretty calm and a good boy."
"... looo…"
"You would do that, girl?"
"Milo."
"Good girl. I am so proud of you."
I rubbed her head, which she responded by cooing and rubbing her chin back to my head. Seriously this Milotic of mine is just needy but also a cutie.
Cute needy girl. That's what you are Milotic.
"Miii…!"
Oops, I forgot that she can sense emotion, meaning she somehow can sense whether I was talking behind her back.
While I was talking with Milotic, suddenly a hand grabbed my hand. Looking at the owner, I was unsurprised seeing Lisia being the one who did that.
"Zale~! Let's go swimming with the other pokémon! I want to ride your Gyarados!"
Huh, that's an easy request to grant.
Looking at Milotic, I also asked her. "Do you want to follow us to play in the ocean too, Milotic?"
"Miii!" Milotic nodded vigorously after. I guess she got her vigor back, good for her.
Though, I didn't expect the next thing which happened.
"... I didn't expect this, really."
"Miilooo!"
After some adjustment, I was now riding my Red Gyarados alongside Lisia who was hugging me from behind. While subsequently ignoring Milotic who was fuming and throwing tantrums while chasing my gargantuan red serpent besides him, along with Wallace's Gyarados, Tentacruel, Walrein, and Milotic as well.
Lisia's Altaria was simply content to follow us by flying above.
As I looked back at Lisia, I couldn't help but gulp slightly. She's currently wearing a different bikini compared to what she previously wore. It did show her voluptuous figure and lots of skin, but that was not all of it.
She also let her hair down, showing her beautiful long teal hair which flowed freely under the sea breeze. Combined with her currently pressing her curvaceous breasts directly at my back, it really makes me have to repeatedly control myself from doing something stupid.
I mean, there's a literal beauty who's hugging me right now. How could I not show my excitement?
"... Damn, it's like looking at an angel…" I cannot help but admire her appearance, not realizing that I've just said it a bit loud.
"I-is that so~? Did you really think of me like that, Zale?"
Ah.
I just said it out loud didn't I?
"Uhm, you did…"
"Oh."
Well, this is really awkward. Come on Zale, you're a man and already past puberty, you need to show some backbone.
"... Did you really mean it?" I heard Lisia quietly whisper from behind me.
"I did, yeah." I answered without hesitation.
This earned me a yelp from Lisia, as I felt something just touching me. Looking slightly, I saw Lisia practically placed her forehead directly at my upper back. "Uuuuhm… You're supposed to reject it in a nervous tone or something~! How am I supposed respond against this kind of attack~!"
… Reject it in a nervous tone? Attack? What the hell is this girl saying?
"I mean, why was I supposed to reject it? You're truly beautiful in appearance, and that's not all of it. You're also an upbeat person with a caring personality as well." I answered her without hesitation, because that was how I felt during her stay here with her uncle.
While I didn't spend much time with her, I also quietly observed her during my training period.
And that's how I came to understand what kind of person Lisia was.
On top of having such a sinful figure and dazzling appearance for a person her age, she didn't let it get over her head. Instead, she's just being herself. Always cheerfully and radiantly breath-taking when her fans practically surrounded her. Even when there's some nasty people who tried to get close to her, she didn't let it intimidate her but instead she just laughed it off while fearlessly faced them with a smile.
Even when one day, when she did a Pokémon coordinating show for her fans while visiting, a random guy literally jumped on her and tried to hug her. If not for her quick reflexes stopping that guy by having one of her pokemon pin him down, he would have succeeded. But Lisia didn't let that deter her at all.
Instead, she even greeted that crazy guy while lightly scolding him with a cheery tone.
I really cannot help but praise her over her bravery and what she does for keeping the stage lively without ruining the mood.
"Uuuu… I guess Zale is Zale after all…" Lisia mumbled while looking at me with a pout. "You stupid, honest, kind, heck of a man…"
"... Are you okay, Lisia?" I can't help but ask for her strange way of describing me.
"Nothing." said Lisia, while simply tightening her grasp on my stomach. Her chin is now resting on my back. "It's like a dream… Meeting you like this…"
"Yeah, I also didn't expect to meet you after your uncle suddenly appeared out of nowhere."
"That's not what I meant, you stupid Zale…"
"Then what are you talking about?"
"About how everything in ten days seemed like it ended so fast. I wanted to stay much longer here with you and Uncle Wallace, but it all ended so fast and today is the last day…"
Ah, so that's what she's been thinking about.
"Still, it doesn't mean it ended right? It's just a temporary goodbye. We can meet again when I finally take my journey later on, maybe I can visit you at one of your coordinator contests."
That instantly lifted her spirit, as she looked at me with gleaming eyes. "Really? Then I can join you on your journey as well! Yay~!"
She instantly beamed, while hugging me tightly.
Sheesh, this girl is just so cute that I just can't help but reach my hand around and pat her head. And she didn't hate it at all, simply smiling while enjoying my hand on her head.
The sun slowly began to set, as both of us enjoyed our time together with our pokémon. Looking afar, I began to reminisce about how I usually watched a sunset with my mom when we were about to get home, with lots of birds flying back to their nest in afar, and one in particular that approached us-wait, approached us?
My eyes widened as a sudden a sonic boom suddenly landed in front of my Gyarados, as a Pidgeot then hovered in front of them, alongside with a mailman who immediately freaked out seeing my Gyarados.
Much to my respect, the Pidgeot simply cooed while completely unbothered by my Gyarados' enormous size.
"A p-package for Lisia Winstrate?"
"Yep! That's me! Thank you for coming, Mr. Mailman~!"
"Y-yes, p-please sign in here and here..!"
"Will do!"
I watched in amazement at the whole event, unable to understand what the hell was going on, even after the mailman with his Pidgeot just took off, leaving both of us after doing his job.
"Lisia," I asked her. "What is that?"
"Oh this?" Lisia then gave me the package, much to my astonishment. "This is your new phone~!"
I stared at her. "Did you just… Buy me a new phone… By using the fastest express delivery that probably costs nearly five to six hundred pokedollars?"
Lisia nodded while smiling at me. "I didn't want to leave without giving you my phone number."
"B-but you can just write it on paper-!"
"Nope, that can't be done~!" Lisia just shook her head while smiling. "Zale, I bought this just for you. Would you take it for me?"
Shakily, I took the package from her, while looking at Lisia with a myriad of emotions dancing inside of me. "Lisia… I don't know what to say…"
"Mhmmm…" once again, she just hummed while shaking her head. "I am enjoying my time here Zale, I did this just so we can contact each other again after this…"
This girl… Is simply too much for me…
"... Thank you, Lisia."
"Your welcome~!" she said in a lovely singsong voice. "And also…"
As she said it, she literally closed the distance between her face and me. Don't tell me she's gonna do-"
"Miii~~!"
"Uwahh-mhpm?!"
"Kyaa-uhmph-?!"
Apparently, Milotic doesn't like the current mood of our deepened relationship, and just swam in front of my Red Gyarados, which made him stop swimming. Which in turn, also made both Lisia and I get affected by the sudden change of his movement, making something unexpected happen.
Something that left both of us dumbfounded. As our eyes meet along with our reddened cheek.
And just like that, I've got my first kiss. A kiss from a lovely girl whom I just met ten days ago.
Both of us stayed frozen, unable to react as it seemed like our brain just got rebooted, along with an outrageous cry from Milotic from afar.
-To Be Continued-
Author Note: Another chapter down
Same rules as before, this fic is decided by roll and votes, so I can pick pokémon in Hoenn available later for vote.
Honestly, I did expect for Lisia to take some spotlight. But I really expect that it will reach this far.
Congrats to Zale for his conquest (?)
Anyway, leave me some review for making me a happy guy.
Next update will be dropped soon, since I've already got the gist down as well.
Well, I guess that's it.
