New life as a Villain
Chapter Six: Gathering intelligence, building up, and keeping an eye on things
Allister figured that the Sports Festival shenanigans would take place following the USJ attack. He did consider the possibility that things for the Sports Festival would be different, maybe the whole event will be cancelled entirely. However, he heard it from Tsuyu, who had said so during dinner one night, that U.A. was getting ready for its yearly Sports Festival.
Tsuyu also mentioned during that same dinner that a memorial assembly was held in the U.A. auditorium for Koda, Mineta, and Thirteen. Class 1-A spoke at that assembly, mainly the students who had seen Koda and Mineta die. According to Tsuyu, there wasn't a dry eye left by the time the memorial assembly had concluded.
When Tsuyu mentioned that Izuku and Hagakure told the story of Mineta's defiant act to the dragon villain Felgrand before committing suicide, with said suicide ALSO being a defiant act done purely to spite the villain, a number of students in the auditorium actually cheered in approval of Mineta's defiance towards those villains who had attacked the USJ. Mineta's name was chanted by many in a manner that clearly suggested that he was a symbol to rally around.
Minoru Mineta, the Symbol of Defiance. Allister couldn't believe it.
"Hold on a minute, sweetie," Beru said; this dinner saw all of Clan Asui home and sitting around the dinner table. "Wasn't that Mineta boy the pervert who bothered you and the other girls in class with you?" Beru asked.
Nodding once, Tsuyu said, "Yes, mom. But he proved that he really did have some heroic attitude in his heart after all, he cared about something other than scoring with a girl."
Allister kept quiet as he let Tsuyu dominate dinner talk that night. Aside from the talk about the upcoming Sports Festival and the fact that he (Allister) had unknowingly ended up turning Mineta of all people into a martyr, nothing that came up caught Allister's attention. He was contemplating a few of the things he had to do for Felgrand's Horde, and Cringe Posse as a whole.
He was expecting things to get busy during the next couple of weeks.
Allister and Kenny kept up their work for Cringe Posse when they had the free time to do so. They also kept an eye on things concerning Izuku, Tsuyu, Mina, and all of their peers. The students of U.A.'s Class 1-A trained as much and as hard as they could, because they were about to take their first serious step to achieving their dreams of becoming pro heroes.
Habuko and Shinso, who were both added to Class 1-A shortly after the USJ attack, had to work a bit harder to catch up to the level of their classmates. But according to Tsuyu, Habuko and Shinso were both going at it hard, and Shinso reportedly stayed after school more than a few times, but it was never due to him getting in trouble.
Allister upon hearing that believed that there was at least a ninety-one point six percent chance that Shinso was getting extra training from Aizawa; Aizawa did mentor Shinso in the manga and anime back in Allister's previous life, it wouldn't surprise him if that happened here as well, even if it went down a lot sooner than it normally would have.
Allister also was surprised when he heard from Tsuyu that she and Habuko were training together. Allister, playing up being a sweet and supportive little brother, made two special lunches, one for Tsuyu and one for Habuko, and both included little sticky notes that said 'I believe in you!' and also said sticky notes included cute little frog face drawings.
Of course, Allister had no idea how the Sports Festival was going to go, given that things were bound to be different due to the ripple effect that Allister and Kenny had set off. But that doesn't mean that Allister can't do a little bit of role-playing to help boost the morale of the hero students he is trying to support, despite how he and Kenny also have to fight them.
And so the days passed, with the students training, and the reborn villains carrying out various schemes to generate income, in addition to some side work that Cringe Posse did for the League of Villains. Within due time, the day of the Sports Festival came. Allister was able to watch things at home with his family, minus Tsuyu for obvious reasons.
Allister was surprised to see that the fighting tournament contestants for Izuku's year had remained unchanged. However, the first round match ups were completely different, although Izuku still had his round two match with Todoroki where he had told the boy with two-toned hair that his fire was his own power, not his dad's.
But surprisingly enough, Izuku here was able to defeat Todoroki and move on through the rest of the tournament. Eventually, due to the completely different match ups in the first round here, Izuku had somehow, somehow, made it to the final round against Bakugo, where their match barely lasted just a few seconds after the signal to begin was given.
The reason why the final round lasted as little as it did was because Izuku was able to predict Bakugo's opening move, grabbed Bakugo's right arm and, with momentum aided by Bakugo's own explosions still going, threw Bakugo off of the fighting platform, ringing him out and ending the entirety of the tournament.
The crowds went wild as Izuku, although still hurting from his previous fights, had placed first in the fighting tournament for the first years in the U.A. Sports Festival. Allister had to control himself to keep from getting too excited, what he saw was just further proof of the fact that Izuku really was as great as the green haired boy deserved to be.
No doubt Izuku was going to receive at least a few more internship offers here than he did in the manga and anime back in Allister's previous life. Allister was looking forward to seeing just how well Izuku will do here. But how did Izuku get so far? Even WITH the different round one match ups and luck, Izuku could have gone so far.
Perhaps a fire was lit under Izuku to push himself? A fire lit by the dragon villain Felgrand? Allister saw that while Izuku here got the gold, Bakugo got the silver, and surprisingly enough Mina of all people got the bronze. Perhaps a fire was lit under Mina due to Kenny declaring himself as Mina's nemesis, similar to what Allister did with Izuku.
Allister was looking forward to seeing how things will develop from here.
...
On a night that saw Allister off of school (he and his schoolmates actually have the whole of the internship off by sheer coincidence), Allister and Kenny, both in their costumes, were at the LoV bar. As it turned out, Kurogiri had been able to find and bring in Dabi, who had taken Shigaraki's place as the successor to leading the LoV. Allister had no idea how this would change things, but he hoped that Dabi wouldn't get Shigaraki's ultimate destiny instead.
If it started to look like that, Allister would have to arrange for Dabi to be killed, as that ultimate destiny is NOT something that needs to get in the way of the ultimate destiny that Izuku still has to attain for himself.
During this particular meeting, Stain the Hero Killer was in the bar. It looked like Dabi was trying to get Stain to work with him. Dabi sat at the bar while Allister and Kenny sat at a nearby booth. While Allister and Kenny wore their respective disguises, Dabi wore his outfit that consisted of the black long sleeved coat over a white shirt, black pants, and black slip on shoes.
"I have to admit," Dabi began as he addressed the Hero Killer, "I'm something of a fan of your work. You're really sticking it to the pompous windbags that are running around playing hero."
"Hmm, playing hero," Stain repeated, "Yes, that's all what those pretenders are really doing. None of them really are ACTUALLY being heroes, just fame obsessed glory hounds. They are a cancerous tumor upon Japan, that's why things aren't going so hot. One of the known methods of treating a cancerous tumor is to cut it out, and I shall be the scalpel that makes the first incision."
"You know, we could work together," Dabi said, "There's safety in numbers. Also, I'm wanting to deal a critical blow to the heroes, but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing it properly. Perhaps a real pro in the field such as yourself can give me some pointers."
"...So you have not a lack of conviction, but rather a lack of knowing how to go about doing things," Stain reasoned out, "Very well. I'm still not on board with the idea of officially teaming up with anyone, but I am not opposed to doing a test run or two. I plan to do some work in Hosu, a number of the pretenders are going to be there. Perhaps we can do a pincer attack to help with culling the pretenders even more than either party can do on their own."
Dabi smirked in amusement. "Sounds pretty grand." The meeting more or less was done, and Stain took off with Kurogiri politely seeing him out. After Stain was gone and Kurogiri returned, Dabi then turned his attention to Allister and Kenny. "You kids must have nerves of steel to have not freaked while the Hero Killer was here," Dabi said to Allister and Kenny, "Even I was a bit nervous."
"Let's just say that Elay and I have been... desensitized," Allister replied, drawing an affirmative nod out of Kenny.
Shifting around in his seat, Dabi replied, "Very well. Now, the big boss still wants to stick it to All Might, same as when that Shigaraki person who I took over things for was still here. But at the same time, the big boss has no issues with me also pursuing my personal goal of sticking it to that fiery brick house bastard Endeavor."
"I recently saw the U.A. Sports Festival," Kenny spoke up, "That one student identified as Endeavor's son took part, but he was knocked out of the running by some kid whose hair looks like the top of a bunch of broccoli."
Dabi snorted back a laugh. "That's funny. It's bound to put a bee in Endeavor's undies. But we'll cover that later. Anyway, given that Stain will be in Hosu, we're gonna need to help back him up. Yo Kurogiri, how many of those Nomu things did the big boss say was ready for use?"
"The master can spare up to three," Kurogiri replied.
Nodding once in confirmation, Dabi said, "Good. We'll cause some spice in Hosu, draw pro hero attention, give something for Stain to do while taking shots at the heroes along the side." Dabi then turned to Allister and Kenny. "What about you guys?" Dabi asked, "Will you join me in watching what is bound to be a good show?"
Shrugging, Allister replied, "If my own business will permit it, I fail to see why I shouldn't." Kenny gave a likewise response, drawing an amused smirk out of Dabi.
"Oh, this is going to be one hell of a show, kids," Dabi smirked, dark amusement clear in his tone as well as his expression.
Within due time, the internships for the hero students began. Allister was able to get it that, aside from Koda and Mineta who both died at the USJ attack, all of the Class 1-A students went with their respective canon internships here. Habuko ended up joining Yaoyorozu, and Itsuka from Class 1-B, in interning with Uwabami, and Shinso apparently is interning with Aizawa himself.
But all of the other Class 1-A students went with their respective canon internships. This meant that Izuku went with Gran Torino, Todoroki went with Endeavor, and Tenya went with Manual. The setup for their duel with the Hero Killer was in place. That was good, as that fight was important to Izuku's growth, both as a pro hero and for his character.
Allister also got it that Izuku did indeed receive more internship offers here due to winning the Sports Festival for his year here, but he STILL didn't get as many as some of his other classmates. He apparently got less than Bakugo, who got less than Todoroki. Todoroki STILL got the most offers for internships here, despite his being eliminated here during the tournament's second round. His pro hero pedigree must be REALLY good.
But details like that aren't ultimately going to change the course of things here. Stain still attacked and crippled Tensei Iida, the older brother of Tenya. This meant that Tenya would go after the Hero Killer, which meant that the showdown in Hosu where Stain faced off against Izuku, Todoroki, and Tenya would still happen. Again, it's necessary for Izuku's character growth.
Allister also decided to do a bit of... direct recon, as it were. It was a bit risky, but he bought some chocolate bars one morning, put them in a box about the size of a shoebox that he decorated to make it look like it's being used for a school fundraiser, and then went up to the building that Gran Torino lived in. He knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds, and was a bit surprised to see Izuku himself answer the door.
Samidare was wearing a normal outfit plus a pair of sunglasses with blue frames (his sunglasses for his Felgrand disguise when not transformed have black frames). He also wore some make-up that covered up the blush marks on his face, just to be safe. He also used New Order to change his hair color to blonde.
"Good morning," Allister greeted as he saw Izuku, "I'm trying to help my school's fundraiser. Would you be interested in buying a chocolate bar for four-hun- oh! I recognize you! You did really well in the U.A. Sports Festival!"
"Heh heh, yeah I did win the gold," Izuku replied, sounding a bit embarrassed, "I still can't believe that I won, though. So you're selling chocolate bars for a school fundraiser, huh? How much did you say they were?"
Allister was about to speak up, but was cut off before getting one syllable out when Gran Torino came up to the door. "Hey Midoriya, what's with the-" Gran Torino said, but stopped short upon seeing Allister. "...Who's the kid?" Gran Torino asked.
"I don't know, he just came here because he's doing some sort of school fundraiser by selling chocolate bars door to door," Izuku replied.
"Chocolate bars, you say?" Gran Torino said, "Hot damn! Hey kid, how much are they?"
"Four-hundred yen a bar," Allister replied. To the surprise of Allister, Gran Torino ended up buying out his entire stock. After getting the money from Gran Torino, Allister said, "Umm, I'll have to go back to my teacher and let him know that I sold out," Allister said, "Thanks for your business, sir." Izuku and Gran Torino nodded once in understanding. Allister offered a handshake to Izuku; Gran Torino's hands and arms were full with chocolate bars, so he couldn't shake hands.
"What are the names of you and your grandpa, sir?" Allister asked, "My name is Inosuke Hashibira." BNHA wasn't the only manga and anime series back in Allister's previous life he was into, although BNHA was still a top title. Even so, Allister drew from another series he liked for a name to give as an alias, as he figured that he'd need to give a name.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya," Izuku said as he accepted Allister's handshake.
"I'm Sorahiko Torino," said Gran Torino, "And I'm not actually Midoriya's grandpa, just his mentor during hero internships."
"Oh, sorry I made that mistake," Allister said while still shaking hands with Izuku. Looking to Izuku, Allister said, "Well then Izuku Midoriya, I hope you do well in your training with the nice pro hero man here." Allister then let go of Izuku's hand and took off, while muttering something under his breath, not loud enough for Izuku or Gran Torino to hear, but still enough to activate New Order. "I'll always be able to know where to go to find Izuku Midoriya."
Allister wasn't quite expecting Gran Torino to buy all of his chocolate bars (Allister technically even made a slight profit on them as he bought them for less than four-hundred yen a bar), but the visit to Gran Torino's place DID let Allister see that things were progressing as they should for Izuku. That was a good thing, as Izuku still had his destiny to attain.
A few nights later was the night that the chaos in Hosu was expected to go down. Allister and Kenny, in their respective disguises (Allister had also long since released the rule that changed his hair color) stood with Dabi and Kurogiri on top of a roof that was overlooking the streets of Hosu down below. Dabi now wore his outfit with the short sleeved long black coat that had the metal rims on the ends of the sleeves.
Dabi, with a pair of binoculars, looked down at the streets below. "The pro heroes had gathered in droves due to the recent activities of Stain," Dabi said, "It's clear they're gunning for him."
"I estimate a ninety-one point six percent chance that at least one of them wants to capture Stain more for the fame and prestige that such an act would garner for them," Allister remarked, "Rather than capture a villain such as Stain for the reasons that a pro hero should ACTUALLY capture him."
"The fame hungry pro heroes run on the Dark Side of Cringe," Kenny spoke up, "Not on the Light Side of Cringe. They are not cool."
Dabi allowed himself a bit of a smirk. "We're just waiting for the right time to unleash the Nomus that the big boss has prepped and are now ready."
"I got it from Kurogiri that the Nomus that will be used here are of a different breed than the one that was given to Shigaraki's command for the attack on the USJ," Allister spoke up.
"Indeed, Felgrand," Kurogiri spoke up, "None of them on their own are as powerful overall as the Nomu from the USJ attack, but they can spread out more, and they will help to distract the heroes as the Hero Killer goes around the sides of the fighting to eliminate lesser pro heroes as the conflict will drag on."
Allister and the others heard an explosion down below, alerting them to what was going on. Looking down, Allister and company saw that the Nomus were already beginning their attack, drawing in lots of pro hero attention. "The show's starting, ladies and gentlemen," Dabi remarked, smirking in dark amusement, "Let's see if it'll be worth the price of admission."
Allister looked around at the fight, saw the sheer number of pro heroes involved, including Endeavor himself. Allister was also wondering where the alleyway where Izuku, Todoroki, and Tenya would be fighting Stain in was at. He had a curiosity as to how the fight will go here. Luckily for Allister, the rule that he had placed on Izuku a few days prior was still active, and he could feel a path he could take to locate Izuku.
"...Imma wanna do a bit of recon," Allister spoke up, "I'm seeing a lack of pro hero students down there, and I know hero internships are active right now. Not knowing where anyone who could throw a wrench into things may trip us up here."
"Hey yo, that's a good idea," Dabi spoke up, "No doubt Endeavor got his baby boy for the internships. We can't have unknown elements potentially keeping Stain from getting away from the heroes." Kenny said he'd stay and watch the rooftop show with Dabi and Kurogiri, to which Allister gave one affirmative nod before speeding off with Acceleratle.
Allister knew where to go, the tracking rule was still on Izuku.
...
It didn't take long for Allister to locate Izuku, and when he found him, Allister saw that Izuku, Tenya, and Todoroki were already in the middle of fighting Stain. Allister did nothing to mess with the flow of things here, he just hid well and watched. Within short order, Izuku and friends predictably took down Stain the Hero Killer.
Granted, Izuku and his peers were banged up, but Izuku seemed to be in a shade better shape than he was in the manga and anime back in Allister's previous life at this point. Perhaps Izuku's lack of injury during the USJ attack played a role here. Regardless, Allister stealthily followed Izuku and company out, saw them hand Stain off to the heroes, with Native doing some covering for the boys as they're only students right now.
Then the winged Nomu escaped, grabbed Izuku, and tried flying away. But Stain got out of his bindings, dashed in, and took out the winged Nomu while saving Izuku. He then did his 'releasing killing intent' thing before passing out while staying standing, but the Hero Killer was STILL able to carry out his speech that would inspire a new wave of villains.
The events of Hosu played out more or less the same, which Allister saw as a good thing. He didn't want to risk making any unnecessary alterations to the flow of things, so he rushed back to where Kenny was with Dabi and Kurogiri. "I failed to find any hero students," Allister lied, "At least not until they met up with the pro heroes."
"Well seeing Stain get captured by the heroes is a bummer," Dabi said.
"But Stain DID make quite a showing right before passing out while standing up," Kenny said, "So who knows? Maybe that will inspire others to join our line of work. You might be able to get others to join the League of Villains by using what happened here tonight to inspire."
Dabi considered Kenny's words for a moment. "...For a young lady with a bag full of cats for a brain, that there is a pretty good idea that you came up with," Dabi said, "Yo Kurogiri, what do you think?"
"Having actual members of the League of Villains will be a money saver as right now our forces we can field consist mostly of the thugs working for Cringe Posse," Kurogiri said, "I suggest that you look into recruiting new members to the League, Dabi."
Dabi gave a bit of a chuckle in response. "Alright then, recruitment drive it is. Things here have more or less wrapped up, so I say we head back to the bar." Kurogiri then warped himself, Dabi, Allister, and Kenny back to the LoV bar, then after some formalities were exchanged, Allister and Kenny both took off to return to their own thing. Allister returned home very shortly after.
Allister felt good. Izuku was growing well.
END, CHAPTER SIX
Author's notes;
This chapter sees Allister a bit surprised to see that the Sports Festival goes on as normal, but he does hear a memorial assembly is held, and also learns to his surprise that Mineta became a symbol that the rest of U.A.'s student population is rallying behind. Regardless, the Sports Festival still happens and, although the round one match ups are different, the students who made it to the fighting tournament for Izuku's year are still exactly the same.
But due to the round one match ups being different, Izuku somehow ends up getting first place. This makes him more appealing to pro heroes looking to employ interns, but Izuku still ends up with Gran Torino. Additionally, the Hosu shenanigans end up playing out more or less the same as they did in the canon in Allister's previous life. Allister sees this as a good thing as things for Izuku will stay at a consistent level.
There's also something that catches Allister's attention; Dabi appeared early and took Shigaraki's place as head of the League of Villains. Allister, as well as Kenny, will have to keep an eye out for how this will affect the flow of the story from this point moving forward. Well anyway, the next chapter will see things touch up on the final exams, both written stuff and practical business. There will also be some slight changes to who passes and who fails. Until then, take care.
