Chapter Fifteen: Hoenn's Heroes
Dawn and the other reborn trainers were doing some training in the area of Hoenn's Victory Road; they were wrapping up completing the Hoenn Pokédex, and had only level up evolutions to take care of. Once they were done with that, their time in Hoenn would be brought to a close, at least for the time being, and they plus the rest of the crew of The Big Beauty would be able to return home to the Sinnoh region which, incidentally enough, is the next region that the reborn trainers intended to do some Pokédex work in.
They had very little Pokédex work to do in Sinnoh, actually; thanks to already having all legendary and mythical Pokémon in the Sinnoh dex, plus a lot of non-lore Sinnoh Pokémon due to Dawn starting her Pokémon trainer career in Sinnoh, the reborn trainers would be able to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex in a snap. They can also use the time in Sinnoh to catch up with friends and some family of both theirs and their crew mates.
When Dawn told the crew that they would be doing work in Sinnoh when their work in Hoenn was done with, the crew all had generally excited reactions. Rhyanna particularly as she can use the time to check in on her little brother Mitchell. Dawn also said that she was interested in visiting Veilstone City, where Mitchell is a gym leader, as well. However, Dawn said that her intended reason for her desire to go to Veilstone City isn't Mitchell.
Rhyanna, curious, asked Dawn what her business in Veilstone City was. "Me as well as Kenny, Trip, and Mina wanna visit a Pokémon Breeder living in Veilstone City by the name of Reggie," Dawn explained to Rhyanna.
"Oh," Leona spoke up, "You mean the older brother of that Paul guy who saved some super obese super geeky looking girl when Team Heart launched an attack in Oreburgh City a while ago. Why, you wanna ask if Paul is doing better?"
Leona's words suggested to Dawn and the reborn trainers that Paul might still be alive in this timeline. "Yeah, we're worried about Paul," Kenny said, "In fact I think that he might have died."
Chuckling a bit, Leona said, "No, no Paul is still alive. He didn't suffer enough damage during the attack in the business district of Oreburgh City when he got caught up in it to kill him. The attack in Oreburgh City is where Paul saved the super obese super geeky looking girl by pushing her out of the way of a blue metal mailbox that was sent flying. He got hit instead, but it didn't do anything lasting unlike the injury that Paul got while he was in Alola."
The reborn trainers were relieved, though they didn't show it, to hear that Paul in the Team Heart timeline is still alive. Further prodding of Leona revealed that Paul's history in the Team Heart timeline is more or less the same as it was in the Team Scorn timeline. Only difference is that Paul is obviously still alive. He's even still doing his redemption arc (Kenny's term for it) after losing the Lake Acuity battle to Ash.
Letting out a relieved sigh, Trip said, "Well now, glad to hear Paul's doing alright. Now all that we have to do now is either catch a Makuhita and evolve it into Hariyama, or catch both a Makuhita and a Hariyama, and we can go on home to Si-"
"Umm, Trip," Dawn began, "You forgot to take my shiny Hariyama Zatch into consideration. I caught him as a Makuhita."
Looking mildly surprised, Trip said, "...Change of plans, our time in Hoenn is complete. Now we can head on home to Sinnoh."
"As well as check up on Paul to see how his redemption arc is going," Kenny added, "Last I heard of it Paul is still working on bettering himself. It's good that he's wanting to stay on the straight and narrow."
The crew of The Big Beauty all gave excited cheers upon hearing that they were not only going to be heading on back home to the Sinnoh region soon, but that they'll be staying there for some time so that Dawn, Kenny, Trip, and Mina could work on completing the Pokédex. They were all excited, and had very little doubt that anything was going to pop up that might delay their arrival back home to their home region.
The Big Beauty flew to and landed in Littleroot Town, as the reborn trainers wanted to touch base with Professor Birch before leaving for Sinnoh. However, when the reborn trainers arrived at Birch's Lab, they saw to their shocked surprise that Team Heart members were milling about around the outside of the lab building, as well as see a few go in and out.
"Something's up," Dawn said as she gestured for Kenny, Trip, and Mina to follow her. They got close to the lab, but were stopped about three meters away by a pair of Team Heart members, one a male Team Heart grunt and the other a uniquely dressed male Team Heart member, obviously being an Officer ranked member of Team Heart.
The uniquely dressed Team Heart member was a fair skinned guy with chin length brown hair, and he wore a baggy hockey jersey with a pink body and black sleeves, black baggy cargo pants with pink trim, black shoes with pink shoelaces, and a black Team Heart 'H' over the front of the body of the hockey jersey. The uniquely dressed Team Heart member also had an Altaria out with him.
As for the male Team Heart grunt with the uniquely dressed Team Heart member, he was fair skinned, with scruffy dark brown hair, and he looked to have bags under his eyes. Given that he's with a uniquely dressed Team Heart member and the guy with eye bags was wearing a standard male Team Heart grunt uniform, the uniquely dressed Team Heart member is a Captain and the male grunt with him is his Captain's Assistant.
"Hey, can you tell us what's going on at Professor Birch's lab?" Dawn asked.
"Professor Birch is being investigated right now due to how he is suspected of intending to act in a subversive manner against the authority of the Team Heart Empire," replied the uniquely dressed Team Heart member.
The reborn trainers were all surprised that Birch was accused of intending to act against the will of Team Heart. "And what evidence does Team Heart have of Professor Birch intending to act against Team Heart in such a manner?" Dawn asked, "For that matter, who are you guys even?"
"I suppose that introductions are in order," replied the uniquely dressed Team Heart member. Gesturing to himself, the uniquely dressed Team Heart member went on, "I am Kin, Fourth Captain of the Hoenn Sector of Team Heart. The fellow with me is Daniel, my Captain's Assistant." Straightening back up, the now identified Kin went on, "And as for our evidence against Professor Birch that suggests he may act against the authority of Team Heart, we have just confirmed that a relative of his is a known and leading member of the terrorist group called Hoenn's Heroes."
"Wait, Birch is related to a member of that group of quote unquote rebel fighters?" Mina said, "Who is it, I ask you?"
"A man named Chandler," spoke up Daniel, "Who is the brother-in-law of Professor Birch." The reborn trainers were all shocked to hear that Chandler has been confirmed to be a member of Hoenn's Heroes; they know of Chandler due to being told of him by Birch and Brendan. He had already done a lot of damage to the life of his son Chad, but now Chandler is gonna do damage to the lives of pretty much everyone in his family.
"Who else is Team Heart going to be investigating because of this revelation?" Dawn asked.
"Team Heart has already arrested all known relatives of Chandler," Kin began, "This sadly includes Hoenn Champion Brendan who is Chandler's nephew. Hoenn is not going to be able to easily take it that Hoenn's Champion was arrested and stripped of his title."
"Team Heart arrested Brendan and stripped him of his title as Champion of Hoenn?!" Kenny more or less exclaimed, "Solely because of how his uncle is a member of a group of rebel fighters native to Hoenn?!"
Gesturing to the reborn trainers, Daniel said, "If one member of the family acts subversive towards Team Heart, then all members of that family have the potential to do so. Team Heart cannot afford to take any chances."
Kin nodded in agreement with his Captain's Assistant. "We've also arrested Brendan's mom, Chandler's son Chad, and Chandler's wife. There's also some senior relatives of Chandler's, but they can't exactly be arrested and taken to one of the labor camps run by Team Heart here in Hoenn. We still have them under strict monitoring, though."
"But what if none of them have any intention to do anything to act against Team Heart's rule?" Mina asked, "Just because one jackass did so doesn't mean any of his relatives could."
"Like I said, Team Heart cannot afford to take any risks," Daniel replied, "If one member of the family has acted against Team Heart will, then all members of that family have the potential to do so."
The reborn trainers were shocked, unable to believe it. Brendan, as well as all of his relatives, all had their lives ruined because Brendan's Uncle Chandler was caught being a jackass in accordance to Team Heart authority. Even after all that Brendan had done, all that he was able to accomplish, he still had it all taken away because of his bastard of an uncle. The reborn trainers were all very much unamused, Kenny especially so as he has a personal grudge against Chandler despite never having actually met the man.
In the end, Professor Birch was NOT arrested; his status as the top Pokémon Professor in the Hoenn region made him too valuable to simply yoink from his life and be tossed into a labor camp. But he was constantly supervised by Team Heart, no less than four members were stationed in Littleroot Town to ensure that Professor Birch was kept in line. But this meant that Birch couldn't safely contact anyone outside of Hoenn at all.
And Birch is the LUCKY one in the whole of his extended family.
His wife and son, as well as sister and nephew, were all arrested and taken away, solely because they're related to a person confirmed and identified as a member of Hoenn's Heroes. What made the whole deal even more shocking is the fact that it was discovered that Chandler had actually had a part in the attack that Hoenn's Heroes carried out in Fallarbor Town, where a few members of Team Heart plus some civilians and two Spindas were all killed.
It also came as a shock to the people of Hoenn that Brendan was arrested and stripped of his Champion title by Team Heart authority. The Pokémon League of the Hoenn region was in a bit of a mess due to their current reigning Champion being suddenly stripped of his position and arrested; it was unknown at the moment how things will proceed officially, but for now Steven Stone, the top of Hoenn's Elite Four, had assumed the role of Acting Champion.
The reborn trainers were ultimately able to speak with Professor Birch, but they had to be careful with what they said to him as there were two members of Team Heart present in the main area of the lab where they spoke with Birch. They simply told him that their field research in Hoenn had just finished and that they were going to be leaving Hoenn soon. Birch, remembering how Team Heart shouldn't be clued in on the fact that Dawn and her friends were working on completing the entire Pokédex, nodded in understanding and didn't say anything that would give away their true goal.
The reborn trainers also decided to check in with May, as they knew that she'd have an opinion on how her boyfriend was just arrested and stripped of the title he had worked hard for to earn all due to his uncle being a jackass. "My boyfriend," May began, tears in her eyes and anger clear in her tone and expression, "Through no fault of his own, was arrested and stripped of everything that he had worked hard to achieve. How do you think I feel?"
"It's stupid that Brendan and the rest of his family had been branded as criminals by Team Heart solely due to the actions of his stupid uncle who as is turned out is a member of Hoenn's Heroes," Kenny remarked, "They didn't even check to see if Brendan and his family were still wholly aligned with the authority that rules the Hoenn region. Nope, it's a mindset of if one apple is bad, the whole lot is rotten."
"How is your family taking the news of Brendan and his family being arrested?" Dawn asked.
"Both mom and Max actually cried about," May said, some resignation in her expression, "Mom was fond of Brendan, thought that he and I were perfect together, and Max saw him as something of a big brother figure. As for dad, he's also upset but more in the sense that he's rather angry towards Brendan's uncle for what he did. My dad firmly believes that Brendan and the rest of his family are still good and shouldn't be made to suffer because of Brendan's jerk of an uncle."
"Is there anything that can be done to free Brendan and his family from the labor camps they were all sent to?" Mina asked.
Sighing, May replied, "They were all sent to the same single labor camp, it's located in Lavaridge Town. As for being able to free Brendan and his family, I doubt it'll be possible, at least so long as Brendan's uncle remains on the loose."
The reborn trainers all scowled bitterly. Brendan's life was rather messed up due to the greed of his Uncle Chandler. It was Chandler who ruined Chad's life and sent Brendan down a bitter path of seeking revenge on Norman who at most was just an unknowing pawn used by Chandler to make it so that Chad would be forced to follow in Chandler's footsteps just as Chandler wanted.
And now it was Chandler who got Chad plus Brendan, Brendan's mom, AND Brendan's aunt all arrested, their lives ruined because of Chandler's recklessness and inability to think about others aside from himself. Only Birch was able to avoid arrest, but that was due to how he's the top figure in Hoenn in the field of Pokémon research. He's too valuable to yoink out of his life and toss him into one of the labor camps. But he's under strict, heavy supervision from Team Heart now.
The reborn trainers had no idea how things can get any worse for Brendan and his innocent family members. As a matter of fact, Mina actually said, "Damn, May. I have no idea how things can get any worse for Brendan and his family."
Right after May had said that, Max came running into the room; the reborn trainers and May were talking in a kitchen area at the Petalburg City gym. "May! Everyone else!" Max cried out as his shiny Mightyena came running in after him, "You're not going to believe it, but there's a breaking news report about a breakout at the Team Heart labor camp over in Lavaridge Town! Over ten prisoners had reportedly escaped, including Brendan and his cousin!"
"WHAT?!" May and the reborn trainers all exclaimed in unison.
The reborn trainers learned with May that members of Hoenn's Heroes carried out an attack on the Team Heart labor camp over in Lavaridge Town with the aim of liberating prisoners there and having those rescued join their (Hoenn's Heroes) cause of liberating Hoenn from Team Heart rule. Official reports on the matter stated that a total of fourteen prisoners escaped, among which were former Hoenn Champion Brendan (it stung the reborn trainers and May a bit to see Brendan referred to as former Hoenn Champion Brendan) and a young adult man named Chad, identified as the cousin of the aforementioned Brendan.
The news report also stated that loads of Pokémon confiscated from prisoners who were brought in to the Lavaridge Town labor camp were also taken, including the team of six Pokémon that were taken from Brendan. Loads of items and things of clothing were also taken by Hoenn's Heroes, and as an final insult from the rebel fighters to Team Heart, several Team Heart members were hurt in the attack on the Lavaridge Town labor camp.
Luckily, there were zero Team Heart deaths, although it was reported and confirmed that a total of five prisoners at the Lavaridge Town labor camp were killed when Hoenn's Heroes busted in to liberate prisoners to have them join them. The reborn trainers and May were all heartbroken to hear it that both Brendan's mom and aunt were among the labor camp prisoners killed when members of Hoenn's Heroes blasted their way in with Pokémon using Explosion.
It was also reported and confirmed that one of the members of Hoenn's Heroes who was part of this prisoner liberating from the Lavaridge Town labor camp was Chandler, the uncle of Brendan and father of Chad. Chandler's actions had not only gotten his wife and sister killed, but also gotten both his son and nephew into even more trouble as they were taken on the run with him. There's also no doubt that Professor Birch was going to be put under even MORE scrutiny from Team Heart, and that's assuming that they still let him live free.
Throwing her hands up into the air, May said, "Great. That's just great. My boyfriend's uncle is a right proper piece of work who thinks nothing of ruining the lives of others."
"Not to mention that his wife and sister are among those dead due to the latest actions that he was a part of," Kenny pointed out, his unamusement towards Chandler growing all the more.
Slumping over, May complained in an upset moaning tone, "And now Brendan is forced to live as a person branded as a criminal by Team Heart. I just hope that he'll be okay."
...
In an undisclosed location in the Hoenn region, a number of persons were milling about in an area clearly set up to be some manner of rebel base. As the persons who were clearly rebels were milling about, Chandler, who had joined the rebels and had risen to some manner of leadership position although he's not one of the overall top leaders, was talking to Brendan and Chad, both now out of the prisoners' garb that they were respectively wearing while they were in the labor camp located over in Lavaridge Town.
"Well boys," Chandler said to his son and nephew, his arms held out at his sides and a cocky and self amused smirk on his face, "Welcome to the base of Hoenn's Heroes. How does it feel to be a part of the effort that will drive those Team Heart bastards out of Hoenn and return it to being one of the free lands?"
"You're a right proper piece of work, Uncle Chandler," Brendan snarled, clearly unamused with his uncle who was standing right before him.
Chandler arched a wry eyebrow at his nephew. "Oi, I saved you from being a prisoner, got you your Pokémon back, got you your stuff and clothing that you had on hand when you were arrested. You owe me nothing but gratitude, so drop that attitude you're having towards me right now."
"First off, you didn't do squat to rescue me, or Chad for that matter, when you and your fellows busted into the Lavaridge Town labor camp to liberate prisoners," Brendan snarled, "The fellow who actually led that attack confirmed that you just raided the guard base at the labor camp for stuff such as food. Second off, said attack leader also confirmed that you were one of the guys who had Pokémon use Explosion to bust into the labor camp. Do you know what all damage you've done?!"
Shrugging, Chandler replied, "I'm sure it's nothing too big to worry abo-"
"Both my mom and Brendan's mom were among those who were killed in that blasting into the labor camp, dad," Chad snarled at his father, "You got both your wife AND your sister killed! Along with three other prisoners!"
Chandler looked curious for a moment before finding an excuse. "Meh, that just means there's five less pairs of hands to help Hoenn's Heroes," Chandler replied.
"Are you really so full of yourself that you can justify actions of yours that got your wife and sister both killed?!" Brendan exclaimed, "Not to mention how you and your fellows dragged loads of people out with you to join the terrorist group threatening things in the Hoenn region! All without even asking those dragged along if they wanted to join or not!"
"Hey now, Hoenn's Heroes needs as many pairs of hands as possible to help out with the cause of driving Team Heart out of Hoenn and liberating it from Team Heart rule," Chandler explained, "When we find someone we wanna draft into helping with the cause, those that we have our eyes on don't exactly have the luxury of saying no to joining."
"It's bad enough that you got the rest of the family arrested, aside from Uncle Birch who was barely given a pass because he is Hoenn's regional Pokémon Professor," Chad began, "You had uprooted and ruined the lives of everyone else in the whole of the family. But now you had gone and yoinked me and Brendan out from where we were taken because of you, getting mom and Aunt Lily killed in the process, and forced us into a spot where we pretty much HAVE TO accept working with you as we can't go back because chances are Team Heart will kill us if we return!"
"Team Heart is not kind, boy," Chandler replied, "They don't let anyone play by any rules aside from the rules that Team Heart themselves establishes. It's why Hoenn's Heroes are fighting to liberate Hoenn from Team Heart rule." Gesturing to Chad and Brendan, Chandler with an amused smirk said, "Now follow me, boys. We got work to do if we're gonna help kick Team Heart out of Hoenn."
As Chandler turned around to walk off, both Chad and Brendan were very pissed off at Chandler. He always had to have others follow him, he always had to be a leader, often forcing others to follow him if he could get away with it. Chandler was the walking textbook definition of ego unrestrained, and now said ego had not only uprooted the lives of Brendan and Chad multiple times in a row in short order, but it also got the respective moms of Brendan and Chad killed.
Chandler's own wife and sister, both now dead because Chandler wanted Brendan and Chad to be followers of his. He clearly ultimately doesn't care that his actions got his wife and sister, as well as three other innocent people, killed. He just wants to do what he wants, when he wants it. Brendan was very sorely tempted to have one of his Pokémon attack Chandler, Brendan got his team back when he was liberated from the Lavaridge Town labor camp, but he knew that Chandler's leadership position in Hoenn's Heroes made the man, at minimum, very hard to replace.
It took a LOT of willpower on Brendan's part to not just up and call out Salamence or Metagross right there and then and sic them on his uncle, despite how much he very much wanted to.
The following morning, the crew of The Big Beauty were all preparing to leave Hoenn as, aside from the news about Birch's family which took the wind out of the sails for some of them, the field research that the reborn trainers were doing was finished in Hoenn. The next region on the list for the reborn trainers was Sinnoh, their home region. The work they had to do there was admittedly going to be brief.
That meant that the reborn trainers and their crew had some free time to check in on interests that were native to home. Rhyanna was looking forward to seeing her little brother Mitchell again, and the reborn trainers upon learning that Paul in the Team Heart timeline is still alive and is working on his redemption arc were wanting to see how he was doing. There was quite a lot for the crew of The Big Beauty to do over in the Sinnoh region.
When they were called back to Lilicove City by Admin Ken who heard their flying ship was in Littleroot Town again, the reborn trainers had to explain to him that their field research in Hoenn had been completed, and now they were going to be returning to their home region of Sinnoh which is where the next stretch of their field research was going to be taking place.
Ken's girlfriend slash Admin's Assistant Tam looked relieved upon hearing it that Dawn Berlitz was leaving Hoenn and would be going back to Sinnoh. The reborn trainers could tell that's what Tam was thinking by the look in her eyes, and they doubt that Tam was the only Team Heart member in the Hoenn region who thought that. As far as any of the reborn trainers knew, Jessie and Merdez were both staying in Hoenn, so that Jessie can continue to learn (i.e. get boot camp) from Ken.
"Hoenn's Heroes just got a lot more threatening," Ken said grimly, "Mostly because they liberated Brendan from the labor camp located over in Lavaridge Town and got him his entire team of Pokémon back. A trainer of his level of skill and power will be very difficult to deal with. I may need to call in some backup from outside of Hoenn to help deal with Brendan."
"I'm not even sure if Brendan wants to be an enemy of Team Heart," Mina said, "Perhaps slapping him with that label solely because his uncle also has that label is a tad too much, don't you think?"
Gently shaking his head, Ken said, "Sorry, but Team Heart authority cannot afford to take any sort of risks. If one apple in the batch is determined to be bad, then all apples from that same batch have to be given the same treatment. We're being very generous when it comes to letting Professor Birch continue his work as Hoenn's regional Pokémon Professor."
Dawn knew that Team Heart couldn't be persuaded to let Brendan off the hook because of what his Uncle Chandler had done. She could only hope that Brendan would be able to ultimately get out of the tight spot his uncle had put him into just fine. Dawn and the other reborn trainers, having given to Ken why they were in Littleroot Town again, were then able to leave.
...
After they left the Team Heart government building in Lilicove City, the reborn trainers made their way back over to where The Big Beauty was parked. "Well gang, silver lining," Mina began, "We're set to not only go back home to Sinnoh now, but we'll be staying there for the foreseeable future. Some time in our home turf ought to make us feel better."
"Yeah, and given how few Pokémon that we need to keep an eye out for to do our field research there are," Dawn said, speaking carefully as they weren't back in the privacy of her flying ship yet, "We and the rest of the crew have time to handle some personal affairs in Sinnoh."
Stretching his arms into the air, Kenny said, "Hoo boy, am I looking forward to heading on back home to Sinnoh! I can't wait to cringe up a storm in our ol' stomping grounds!"
"Kenny, we ought to keep on track," Trip remarked, "Aside from still needing to keep an eye out for a few odd species of Pokémon that we have to do field research on, there's also a chance that we'll have to deal with a Sector of Team Heart that is native to the Sinnoh region."
Scoffing, Mina said, "Trip, you forgot that your sister, whose big greedy butt claimed the coolest chair ever and won't share it, is the Champion of Sinnoh and Monarch of the World Coronation Series. Team Heart on multiple occasions said that they don't wanna try to antagonize Dawn due to her status. What is there to worry about?"
"First off Mina," Dawn began, "My butt isn't big, and no you still can't sit in my papasan chair. Second off, Team Heart will eventually want to take over ALL of the world, and that includes Sinnoh. I have little doubt that Sinnoh has a native Sector of Team Heart already working to try to claim Sinnoh for the Team Heart Empire."
Folding his arms over his chest, Kenny said, "It HAS been a while since we've fought against Team Heart. Sinnoh is still one of the free lands, so if we find Team Heart members there and they try to raise a stink, we'll raise a stink right back at them."
At that point, the reborn trainers reached The Big Beauty and began going up the drawbridge. "That's one way to put it, I suppose," Dawn remarked. Dawn, still feeling embarrassed because Mina said her butt is big out of jealousy that Dawn won't let anyone else but herself sit in her papasan chair in her personal room on board of The Big Beauty, wondered what the native Sector of Team Heart in the Sinnoh region was like.
She was certain that there was one, given that Team Heart clearly intends to claim all that there is for themselves and their Empire.
(Opelucid City, Unova region)
Bianca was sitting in the garden area located behind her mansion in the wealthy neighborhood in Opelucid City. She was sitting in a chair by a table as she enjoyed the pleasant morning as she had her morning coffee out there. It was as the very well fed second in command of Team Heart took a sip of her coffee that she was approached by the usual maid, followed by the head of the manor's butler staff.
Arching a wry eyebrow, Bianca asked, "What's up?"
The butler handed Lady Bianca a small stack of papers stapled together. "This is a report about the incident at the Team Heart labor camp located in Lavaridge Town, Hoenn," said the butler as Bianca took the report from him, "The terrorist group known as Hoenn's Heroes took a number of prisoners with a two digit count with them, along with various confiscated Pokémon, some clothing, and other items taken from prisoners when they were brought in."
Bianca read the report, her expression growing more and more concerned. "One of the escaped prisoners is former Hoenn Champion Brendan, and he got back his full team of six Pokémon. Now he's part of Hoenn's Heroes." Setting the report down, Bianca said, "That is very grim news. There are no trainers native to Hoenn who can stand up to Brendan. The bit about Admin Ken planning to request aid from outside of Hoenn in subduing Brendan is well founded."
"There's also one other last bit of news from Hoenn that Admin Ken wished to report to you, Lady Bianca," the maid spoke up, "Dawn Berlitz and her companionship are going to be leaving Hoenn and staying in their home region of Sinnoh for a while to continue their field research on species of Pokémon there. We have no clue how long their field research in Sinnoh will last, though."
Bianca smiled a bit in relaxation. "Good. It's nerve wracking to have Dawn Berlitz in Team Heart territory. Though she was in lands where Team Heart's word is law, Team Heart still can't afford to tick off Dawn and the Sinnoh region as a whole."
"Is that why the Sinnoh Sector of Team Heart is extra careful, Lady Bianca?" asked the butler.
Bianca nodded once in confirmation. "Indeed. ...Or at least they're supposed to be extra careful. Team Heart does plan to eventually rule the WHOLE world, and that WILL include Sinnoh. But by no means can we take Sinnoh now. We have to wait until the Sinnoh Sector is able to weaken regional defenses for Sinnoh enough for Team Heart to take it."
Looking curious, the maid asked, "How long do you think it'll take the Sinnoh Sector to make taking the Sinnoh region easy for Team Heart, Lady Bianca?"
With a dry, bemused look on her round and plump face, Bianca said, "I'm... getting the feeling that it's gonna be a while before Team Heart can take Sinnoh."

(Veilstone City, Sinnoh)
It was nighttime over in the Sinnoh region where, somewhere between the local game corner and a fast food place that sold soft tacos, a man was laying face up on the ground, pinned to the ground as a van was overturned onto him, it's roof covering the lower half of his body, and the underside of the van itself was on fire. The man pinned by the van was fair skinned, and had long golden blonde hair that ended in a single long braid worn over his left shoulder. Oddly enough, he wasn't wearing any kind of top.
Standing nearby was another man, also fair skinned but he had scruffy chin length black hair. He was dressed casually, wearing a purple baggy hockey jersey, tan baggy cargo pants held up with a belt, and brown shoes. The man pinned by the van cried out in a moaning cry of pain as he looked to the other man. "Oh no, Artemis!" the pinned man cried in pain to his free companion, before giving another moaning cry of pain.
"Holy shit, Zidane!" the now identified Artemis exclaimed, "Are you okay?!"
"I... I can't feel my meat, Artemis," replied the now identified Zidane, "I think it needs CPR."
"...What?" said Artemis, clearly caught off guard.
"Quick, Artemis," said Zidane, "Before my meat slaps the bucket-"
"What?!" Artemis exclaimed, "Eww, Zidane! What the fuck?!"
"Go get Soka," Zidane said, sounding like a dying man begging for mercy, "Tell him that I need dick to mouth!"
Artemis arched a wry eyebrow at the pinned Zidane. "...Okay, but I won't stick around to watch it." Artemis then turned to leave, but muttered under his breath as he took off, "Why did the Admin of the Sinnoh Sector have to be a freak?"

Author's notes;
This chapter sees the reborn trainers complete the Hoenn Pokédex, and as such they're done in the Hoenn region. They will now return to Sinnoh, which just so happens to be the next region on their list of regions to complete Pokédexes for. However, before they are able to leave the Hoenn region, the reborn trainers get some rather distressing news, that being the fact that Brendan and all of his family members are arrested by Team Heart authority in Hoenn.
As it turns out, Brendan's Uncle Chandler is a member of Hoenn's Heroes, the rebel fighter group aiming to liberate Hoenn from Team Heart rule. Chandler was also identified and confirmed to have taken part in the attack in Fallarbor Town. All of Chandler's relatives are arrested, aside from Birch who is kept out due to being Hoenn's regional Pokémon Professor. But he still kept under very tight scrutiny nonetheless.
Then Hoenn's Heroes stage an attack on the Team Heart labor camp in Lavaridge Town, killing five prisoners in the process of rescuing as many as possible to recruit to the cause of driving Team Heart out of the Hoenn region. This includes Brendan and his cousin Chad, the son of Chandler. Both of the boys are by no means happy with Chandler, but due to what they'd been pinned with due to their lives being ruined by Chandler, they have no choice but to stick with Hoenn's Heroes.
Dawn and the rest of the crew of her flying ship hope like hell that Sinnoh will be a break from all of the trouble that they have learned of as of late. But things in Sinnoh may be a bit... out there... if the scene in Veilstone City is any indication. Anyway, this chapter is the end of the Hoenn arc of this story, as the next chapter will be the beginning of the Sinnoh arc. Things are going to be getting very interesting to say the least.
