'… You know… for a second I was pretty sure I was dead.' Thoughts begin to form in the newly awakened individuals mind. His eyes trace the contours of the unknown room he finds himself in. It only takes him a second to run through the rooms look for any familiarity and finds none. He is laying on a leather couch with blankets placed under him and over him. The room as different colors of striped red wallpaper and a red curtain covering a window, along with some tables with a couple of flower vases. The fact that he finds himself in a completely unfamiliar room after getting injured is raising some major Déjà vu vibes from him but right now he needs to assess the situation and figure out how he needs to get out of here and dress his wou—
The train of thought comes to a halt as he slowly sits up, wincing at the sore flare up of pain but nothing compared to a fresh gunshot wound pain. As he sits up, he looks down, finding himself bare-chested without a shirt or his jacket with him still wearing his pants. He sighs in relief at that but quickly sees the wrapping around his stomach area.
Before he can check properly, the door to his room opens. The door is a regular wooden door with a glass slightly tinted window on it. The person who opens it however, is anything but what you would call regular. The injured before, on edge, but now stupefied man stares at wide eyes at the creature before him, who is the pinnacle of a furry's dream girl.
A large white furred Hellhound stands there. She has a snout with pointed teeth, a dark gray nose, eyes with red sclera and white irises, white fur on most of the body with gray spots on her shoulders, and a tuft of voluminous gray hair combed to the side that reveals her ear. She has a large bushy tail that's almost as big as she is that's black with a white underside to it. She has an eyebrow piercing and a black choker with white spikes on it. Her clothes are a gray crop top that's lightly ripped at the edges and a set of strings that form a pentagram over her chest above her breasts. The last bit of clothes she has are black fingerless gloves to show her claws, black shorts and long black leg warmers or stockings without any shows to cover her paws.
"Blitzø! He's awake!" She calls back into the other room and steps in. Ajac quickly swings himself around and goes to stand until the second his feet touch the ground, he groans and grits his teeth as pain flares from his side. Gripping it, he looks down and sees the gauze again wrapped around his midsection, right where he was shot earlier.
"Hey heeeeey!" A loud and kind of obnoxious voice pierces the air. "Glad to see you're finally up, Ajax buddy!" The imp named Blitzø calls out as he steps in, followed by Moxxie and Millie.
While the human man, now named Ajax, is incredibly confused at the creatures in front of him, it's the fact that one of them knows his name immediately sets him on edge. His grip tightens a little on his side as he narrows his eyes at the lead imp. "… How do you know my name?" He asks darkly and warily.
"Stole your wallet." Blitzø answers cheekily as he pulls out said wallet and tosses it to Ajax, who catches it with his free hand. He doesn't make any changes to his facial expression as his eyes glance to the wallet in his hand before glancing back at the grinning imp. He defly opens the wallet with one hand and parts it open with his fingers, taking another glance inside before getting a cross look at him. Blitzø keeps his grin but when the silence reigns on, he gets nervous before sighing. "Ughhhhhh, fiiiiiiinnnee." He grumbles and pulls out some folded bills and tosses them. Ajax closes the wallet on the money before tucking it back into his pocket.
"Okay, now…" He begins to say before fixing his best glare at all the occupants in the room, immediately setting them all on edge. "Answer my questions. Who are you? What are you? Where the hell am I? And Why did you bandage me up?" While he is grateful to no longer be bleeding out, this whole situation has him really confused and really on edge to their motivation.
The hound girl scoffs and looks away. "Ungrateful piece of sh—"
"I'm glad you asked!" Blitzø interrupts her as he continues his jovial attitude. "Now I am sure you're confused by a lot of things but I'll answer your questions in order. My name is Blitzø, the O is silent." Ajax arches his eyebrow in confusion but still listens but refuses to lower his guard. "I am the CEO and founder of the company and its headquarters you are currently residing in and I am an Imp, as are my two compatriots here, Moxxie and Millie." Without breaking the smile he has he grabs onto the shoulders of the other two imps and pulls them in close, hugging them close as he introduces them. Moxxie rolls his eyes in annoyance while Millie gives Ajax a smile of her own and a small wave. He being confused still gives subtle wave back. "And my little girl here…" He proceeds to push them away, Moxxie tumbling to the floor but Millie only taking a few steps away as Blitzø walks up to the hound.
"Little girl?" Ajax mutters in confusion at the hound who is literally taller than him.
"Is named Loona." He proudly and happily states as he hugs her, making her growl out at him with her teeth baring fangs.
"…" Ajax stares blankly at the almost fatherly affection the happy imp is giving her when she us openly glaring at him and looking like she wants nothing more than to maul him.
"She's a Hellhound and his adoptive daughter." Moxxie answers as he pushes himself onto his feet and dusts himself off. Ajax nods but keeps glaring at the CEO.
"And as for where you are?..." Millie begins to say uneasily as she goes to the window with its blinds down. She grabs the cord and idly twists as she looks uncomfortable. "Uhhhh… how do I put this delicately…?"
"OheasyMillsyoujustripitofflikeabandaid YOU'RE IN HELL BUDDY!" Blitzø shouts rapidly and loudly before he grabs the blinds cords out of Millie's hands and pulls it down hard. "Literally." He adds with a smile.
Ajax wasn't expecting to believe him as soon as he said that, however at the scene he sees… its looking like he has no choice.
He slowly stands up, eyes glued to the window as he takes in the location he is now in. A sprawling but slightly decrepit city spans in front of him from the window he is staring out of, from small one-story buildings and homes, two-story, to other tall skyscrapers and such, as well as a blimp or two in the sky. However despite the looks of the buildings, the grey, black and different shades of red that the buildings and roads seem to be colored in, it's the sky that sealed it for him. The skyline and horizon that he has seen plenty of times has never been as red as he sees it now, but it's the giant literal pentagram in the sky that seals it.
He only stands there for a few moments as he just stares at the city and sky.
The imps all stare at his back confused at the lack of movement or emotions they were expecting him to exhibit while Loona just glances at him before going back to her phone.
"Is he okay?" Millie asks quietly.
"I'm not sure." Moxxie begins to answer quietly as well. "Most humans don't believe Hell or Heaven even exist. Even if some believe in their existence, actually seeing the places might surprise them so much they become catatonic and not react to any—"
"Hey dumbass! You still alive or did you have a heart attack old man?!" Moxxie flinches as he deadpan stares at Loona at her outburst.
"…Thing." He finishes in disappointment.
A sigh escapes the humans lips as he places a hand on the window and leans his head against it. "God damnit…" He sighs sadly in a low tone. "So… did I bleed out and end up down here?" In a not really defeated but just tired and resigned tone.
"Weeeeelllll as much as that would be interesting, as well as possibly give us a new client and spice things up down here," Blitzø states with a smile, "Sadly no. See because of you we find ourselves in kind of an awkward predicament."
Ajax straightens up slowly at that. He turns around and stares at the others with wariness in his eyes and his stance. "… What kind of predicament?"
"You killed our target." Millie answers.
"And our client paid US to kill him a specific way and you kind of fucked us in doing so by going absolutely berserk on his face." Blitzø finishes right after.
"Well sorry but I wasn't really focusing on your paycheck but more so on the jackass that decided to shoot me in the back." Ajax growls out.
"Oh you don't have to worry about that exactly because thanks to Mills here," He grabs the female Imp and hugs her with one arm. "We have a solution."
"Solution? Wait, what do you guys do anyway?"
"W—!"
"We kill people." Moxxie interrupts Blitzø, who had just inhaled deeply and was looking to go off in a speech before letting out a depressed sigh and glaring annoyingly at him.
"Fucking hell Mox just step on my balls now won't you!" He takes a deep breath with his hands clasped together in front of him and his fingers pressed together before looking at Ajax. "Essentially yes, people down here in Hell pay us to go back up to the living world and kill whoever they want dead. People like cheating ex-wives or husbands, business partners, people like that. The person you killed however, was a drug addict that killed a 'seemingly innocent' bystander," He quotes seemingly innocent since that person ended up down in hell and all that. "Weeks ago and the guy wanted his strung out ass sent down here too."
"But out of coincidence, I got him first when I was to be his next mark."
"Exactly. Now as stated before I cooouuuuuuld just simply have us claim that we killed him and that was that, but the client wanted us to get a whole bunch of drugs and basically make the guy, smoke, snort, and inject every concoction we can think of give him the mother-of-all and most painful of all overdoses." Blitzø explains with a smile before becomes depressed and hunched over. "But we can't exactly do that when you cracked his skull open like an egg."
"Hm." Ajax scoffs. "But where do I come into the picture?"
"As I was saying before, even though we could have lied about the guy dying, it's a matter of integrity for this fine company on how we do our jobs. So I refuse to have us take credit for the kill that we did not commit." He gets a wide smile on his face. "But I still want us to get paid, which is where Millie's plan here comes in."
Millie takes a step forward and gives her best smile to Ajax. "See, we want to get paid, but our boss here doesn't want us to take credit for a hit we didn't do. So my plan is—"
"CONGRATULATIONS YOU'RE HIRED!"
"…"
"…"
"…"
Everyone in the room look at Blitzø with annoyed stares at his yelling.
"… I didn't finish saying." Millie tells him.
"Hold on," Ajax begins to say now that he pieces things together. "In order for you guys to get paid and satisfy your 'integrity', you want to hire me so even though I killed your target, you can still claim it was done in your company's name."
"Basically." Loona replies in a bored tone, focusing on her phone still and barely glancing at him.
"I know it seems a little weird but—"
"Okay."
"-But I can assure you it will- wait, what?" Blitzø begins to try to come up with a pitch to convince Ajax but it derails hard when the human agrees easily.
"Did you agree?" Moxxie asks for clarification.
"Yeah, I'll do it. I'll be in your employ. It's not like I got anything better to do."
"…"
"…"
"…"
The Imps all look confused and surprised at the agreement, while the hellhound Loona just does not giving a crap as she idly scrolls through her phone, even rolling her eyes a little.
"… Huh… okay well that was easier than I thought." Blitzø mutters as he scratches the side of his head.
"So what do we do exactly? Do you need to ask me some questions? Is there an interview I need to do or—" Ajax begins to ask.
"Oh fuck that noise!" The lead imp shouts before heading for the door. "I just need to go make a call and get paid. Sit tight kiddies!" He shouts and zips out of the room to his office. Everyone stares at the door he took off through, silence reigns a little before the noises of a phone can be heard.
"Is he always like that?" Ajax asks out loud.
"Pretty much." Moxxie answers.
"Oh yeah." Loona answers too.
"So how long have I been out?" Ajax asks he stretches his limbs a little, minding his injury and alleviating the stiffness of his muscles.
"Couple days." Millie answers from a chair as she kicks her legs in the air a little. "For a human you are surprisingly resilient. Your gunshot wound should be healed up in only a matter of time."
"Hm, well thank you then." He smiles nods at her appreciating the gesture.
"Hello? Hey! Hi how are you?!" Blitzø can be heard in the other room talking on the phone with the client most likely, cutting their conversation as they all focus on the phone call happening. "Yeah yeah its us! Listen that drugged out A-hole's dead. Dead as a door nail. Unfortunately we weren't able to kill him exactly like you wanted but I can assure you that he died by our hands and—…" There is a pause in his tirade. "You don't care who killed him. You just want him dead to begin with. The drug overdose was just icing on the cake basically." Blitzø begins to say again in a sort of monotone voice. "So your saying someone could have offed him before we got there and you would have still payed us because he's dead… Uh huh… okay… thank you for your patronage."
*Click*
The sound of the landline phone being placed back on its hold can be heard, along with a long pause of silence from the other room. Even Loon perks her head up when she notices theirs no one talking or the fact Blitzø is not talking anymore. Heads turn in different directions, each person in the room gauging the expressions on the others as they all wonder what's going to happen.
"… FUCK!" Soon enough Blitzø screams in anger and something breaks. The door to his office slams open before he also steps forward into their little room, anger clear as can be across his face. "Well that's a fine fucking how do you do! The client—!"
"We know." Loona interrupts him as she goes back to her phone.
"We heard." Moxxie adds.
"You didn't have to hire me." Ajax finishes.
"Yeah well—! This just sucks alright!" Blitzø sulks as she sits down in a chair with his arms crossed.
No one says anything. Their really isn't much anything to say at this point as there is a small pregnant pause between them all.
"… Soooooooo…" Moxxie begins to say, gaining the attention of the room. "What now? Do we just take him back to where we found him?" He turns to Ajax and tries to give him his best comforting smile despite the mess he's now in. "I'm sure your eager to get away from all this and get back to your life back on—"
"I'm good being here."
"…"
"…"
"…"
Again, another round of silence for everyone as they all look at Ajax as he answers.
"… You what?" Moxxie asks in incredible confusion.
"You heard me. I have nothing else going for me back on earth so a change in scenery will do wonders for me." He smirks as he explains.
"Wait what? Bu-but… what about your family? Your friends? Girlfriend? People who care about you?" Moxxie tries to come up with reasons for him to try to go back.
Ajax though gets a hurtful look when Moxxie mentions the girlfriend part. He quickly regains his composure and gives the imp and even stare. "No family left to speak, girlfriends aren't a thing, and any friends I have assume I'm dead, they're dead or don't bother anymore. So I have nothing tying me back to earth so if you need an extra gun to kill people, I can help."
Moxxie looks stupefied at this change but Blitzø just lets out a long sigh. "Guhhhh fine!" He goes to his feet and stands in front of Ajax. "I suppose your ruthlessness will come in handy. Normally I would just toss your ass back on earth so we don't have another mouth to feed… buuuuuuuuuut I kind of like gumption." He smiles at Ajax. "The fact you took a round to the gut, layed still like that without making an inch of movement and proceeded to put a beating of a lifetime on that poor sap, at the very least your not some candyass pansy who'll cry momma. You can be our meat shield when things get dicey."
Moxxie looks offended at the notion he gave the human. "Meat shield?! He's a living person sir! We can't just use him as nothing more than a human shield for us to use!"
"Doesn't really matter to me." Ajax mutters, letting out a sigh as he leans back in the chair a little. "It's not the first time I've been used by my superiors."
"Yeah yeah whatever sad backstory don't care- Alright people it's getting late!" Blitzø shouts as he claps his hands once, gaining the attention back on him. "Business hours are about over and its time we head off to get ready for a new killing day."
"Finally." Loona mutters in relief and immediately makes her way to the door. Soon Millie and Moxxie follow her out and just before their boss does he looks back at Ajax one final time.
"You can go head and sleep here in the office and theirs plenty of snacks to eat in the breakroom so byyyyyye!"
*Slam*
Ajax doesn't flinch when the door slams shut. He slowly blinks before slowly leaning back in the couch and letting out a large sigh. He brushes his face with his hands and before slowly sitting up, groaning as he does, his body aching before heading back to the window. Again, he stares out into the large expanse of the Hell city before him. Now he finds himself on completely new territory and without any information about the place he's currently in. "Hm, still not the first time." He clenches his hand on the tags and just stares out into the city, seeing the small specks of people (Demons?) milling about, going about the day as normal. Or relatively normal in the literal location of Hell itself as he spots at least a few people fighting or possibly killing each other in different locations and around. 'So this is it? All that time back on earth, all that time fighting, living… killing… and this is what you chose to live in?'
He looks down at his hand, the dog tags cupped in his hand.

He stares staring at his tags before letting them fall back onto his chest. He then hears tires squealing and looks down to see a van pull out from the parking lot and barely catches a glimpse Blitzø in the driver seat before he speeds off like a bat out of… you get the idea. He sighs as he lays his head against the window and stares out as the van disappears past some buildings. "Never though I'd find myself 60 and in Hell… and alive for that matter." He mutters, honestly expecting himself to have come to this place a whole lot sooner and under very different circumstances.
He looks over at the clock, seeing it just hitting past ten o'clock. Glancing down he looks at the bandages wrapped around his midsection, including some bandages wrapped around his knuckles. Despite being shot he's not in agony. A dull ache and pain going through him as it is, not something that'll debilitate him or anything like that. He makes his way out of the room he's in and starts exploring the area around. A large office is what he comes to, complete with a secretary's desk, some doors leading to the outside, including one door that no doubt heads to the boss's office. Theirs even an aquarium on one side of the room though its empty for some reason. The wallpaper on the walls have peeled and started to chip off in some areas. He heads to one of the other doors and opens it up. Your standard looking break room can be seen, from the white tile flooring, to gray painted walls, and a fridge with a microwave and many cupboards. "Hmmm." He hums as he takes look at the place before heading to a small table. It's got several bags of snacks and chips on it. He doesn't bother to check what's what and just grabs the closest one. Popping it open he begins snacking on the content. Finding his makeshift dinner relatively pleasant he heads over to the fridge.
Opening the door, he first grabs a bottle of water on the inside door of the fridge and walks off back to the main lobby area. He heads to the secretary desk and sits down in the slightly torn and ripped up chair. Placing his food down he goes to turn on the computer but finds it password locked. "Great." He mutters annoyed. Letting out a sigh he begins searching through the desks contents for a sticky note with a password on it. First drawer he opens up though he finds a book.
Curiosity gets the better of him as he pulls out the book and gives it a once over, finding it something he's never seen before with some designs on it he's not familiar with. With him not feeling sleepy at the moment, he shrugs and pops open the book, glad to have at least find something to keep himself occupied. At the very least when the next day rolls around it'll be a fresh and allow for a lot more time for him to either get to know his new employer and fellow employee's, or properly setup his living arrangements.
Does Hell have its own currency system? Is there no rules and anything can be done? Do people still have live and pay for stuff properly? How big is Hell?
So many questions, not enough time for the current day for him. With a sigh and another swig of water for him, Ajax settles in and begins pouring over the book.
'New chapter in your life Ajax. Time to get yourself acclimated to it.'
And so, there it goes. Ajax has now been recruited into the wonderful world of assassins via Hell incorporated. This is going to be quite the change in scenery for the grizzled veteran. Not really any action to see for him but mostly just him getting ready to start settling in to his new locale so to say.
He's gonna have to get used to the fact that he's gone to hell and he's still alive to do it. Not many humans can say they've done something like that of the sort.
ThunderBasilisk: Thank you. With this show being the way it is, going all out is pretty much the name of the game when being in Hell for sure.
Marbled Gold: I know right. I've always tiptoed in some way or another when it comes to my stories since the majority always stemmed from kids shows relatively tame versions of shows and since this show in particular takes place in literal, well then that means the worst of the absolute worst can be sent down there, which means the absolute worst can be done in the process. I hope I do you and everyone else proud.
ReadingBeta: Relax, I was still on the fence about the lemon at the time I posted but after discussing some things with some people, and thinking up some… "scenes" I think I have an idea of how to go about it. Just bare in mind it will be awhile before I actually get to that stuff so patience is a virtue. Sorry.
Rainsfere: Well, sorry to disappoint you then. I guess I can hope you'll keep an open mind on future updates and keep reading. Wish I could say I would guarantee soon to be new content for all my stories but that's something I can't do and never do: make guarantees. Whether its my own inspirations or just life in general, both have a contributing factor to how much I can actually write. Several times last year I had several family emergencies that completely killed any motivation I had for writing for a bit so somedays I just have the inspiration to write whole pages with ease, other days I can only get a few hundred. Sorry it's how it is and I wish you luck on finding a new writer that really gets your attention.
Guest: Thank you. I hope to continue to keep your interest.
Don't you worry folks, this chapter was mostly for the crew to get themselves at least somewhat semi acquainted and I promise some bit of action is going to take place next chapter with Ajax really going in to show off his skills as more than just a bullet sponge.
Thank you all for reading. Go ahead and fave, follow, review, whatever you wish. Have reading everyone, but most of all make sure to have a great day each and every one of you.
