(AN) Hello and welcome to my next Straw Dogs fic; hope you all enjoy.

This fic is a reimagining of the 2011 remake; basically, how I think they should have done it. It also has elements from the novel The Siege of Trencher's Farm.

Disclaimer: I don't own Straw Dogs; all characters and locations are owned by their respective owners.

Straw Dogs: 2011 Reimagined

Chapter One

The village of Wakely was a peaceful village in Cornwall, England. Everybody knew each other, the village was normally peaceful and nothing eventful typically happened, that was until late 2011 when the village became the centre of a series of events that would leave the residents in shock.

It all started in mid-November 2011. A new family had moved to the village, and although the husband and daughter were new faces, the wife was not. Amy Sumner originally lived in Wakely when she was a child, but had later moved to the United States with her family, where she later met and fell in love with maths teacher David Sumner. Amy was in her thirties and had short, blonde hair. David, who was also in his thirties, had brown, curly hair and wore a pair of round glasses. The last member of the Sumner clan was their eight year old daughter Karen. Karen had long, dirty-blonde curly hair. The family were currently driving up to Trencher's Farm, a farmhouse owned by Amy's dad. Sitting in Karen's lap was Kitty, a black moggy who Karen adored.

"Okay, Karen, when we get to the house, please don't loose Kitty," said Amy, who had a posh British accent. "Trencher's Farm doesn't have a fenced off back garden, so she'll easily get lost if you loose sight of her."

"And don't let her get in the way of the workmen," warned David. "They'll not get anything done and it could be dangerous for Kitty."

"I don't think you're giving Kitty enough credit," claimed Karen, who like her mum, spoke with a British accent. "Cats are highly intelligent animals, so maybe she can figure out where not to go all by herself."

"Yes, cats are intelligent, but you still need to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't get into any trouble." pointed out her mum.

Soon enough, the car rolled on to a farmyard before coming to a stop in front a small, old fashioned looking farmhouse. The trio stepped out (Karen was holding Kitty in her arms) and looked up at the farmhouse. Amy smiled fondly as she looked up at the farmhouse. "Welcome to Trencher's Farm." she said with delight.

"I don't see that many animals about." remarked Karen, sounding a bit disappointed.

"Well, this wasn't really used as an animal farm," explained Amy. "Your grandparents used to use this as a holiday home; I used to love coming up here as a child."

The three turned and saw two men approaching them. The one on the left was short, obese and had short, untidy grey hair. The man on the right was taller, thin and had short, black hair.

"Mr Sumner," said the obese man. "We're the two workmen you hired to fix the garage roof: I'm Chris Cawsey and this is Norman Scutt."

"Nice to meet you," said David politely as he shook both men's hands. "This is my wife Amy and my daughter Karen; say hi, sweetie."

"Hello." said Karen bluntly.

"Do you need any help getting your stuff in?" asked Scutt.

"Yes, that would be great." said Amy.

And so, Cawsey and Scutt helped David and Amy unload their things from the car and shift them into the house.

"So, Chris, I hear you're a rat exterminator." said David to Cawsey as they unpacked more stuff.

"Oh yes; humane mind you," snickered Chris before letting out a creepy sounding giggle. "I love rats, so I collect them. I think rats are more intelligent than people; hehehehehehehe; rats is life, Mr Sumner."

Karen began walking around the living room, she then looked up and noticed a large bear trap hanging above the fireplace. "Mum, what's that for?" she asked, pointing at the bear trap.

"Oh, it's a trap used for catching bears," informed the blonde as she came to stand beside her daughter. "Your granddad liked collecting stuff like this back when he was younger."

As the two girls continued to talk, they failed to notice Scutt staring at Amy's bottom. Scutt was a man who liked simple pleasures, which unfortunatley included some very dark desires. The young man was thinking that one day, he'd love a nice, tasty morsel and Amy was just the sort of woman he'd like.

(AN) And that's it for this first, short chapter; hope you all enjoy.

So yeah, this story will be closer to the 1971 version as you can tell, but it will be more modern and not just be a beat-beat remake.

All of the character designs are based on real actors. David is modelled after James Marsden, while Amy is modelled after Claire Skinner.

Karen was a character from the novel who was cut from the film.

The next chapter will be the first full one and will introduce more characters and set up more plot points.

Until then, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
