Heehee! I love that song, but Velvet was pale purple before I named her, so that's a missed opportunity on my part. Ah well!
Jack would probably prefer that, but then again, I think that feeling the full force of his emotions keeps him from trivialising the emotions of others. Maybe that's where the Doctor has gone wrong; he often seems to dismiss the emotions of others as unimportant, not worth considering.
