AN: I just wanted to give the reason for why these 3 chapters took so long. There were 2 reasons and first was life, plain and simple. Life just happens and you have to focus on that instead of hobbies or non essential things. The second reason was because I sort of wrote myself in a corner and was unsure of what to do. This caused me to lose my drive and passion to work on these chapters. However I found a way to get out of that corner and both slowly started coming back. Now I always release all the gym battle chapters together as a set, but from now on I'm going to be posting them when I finish them since they all are going to be long-ish.

Chapter 20: Saffron City Gym Battle Lynn vs Sabrina

[Saffron City]

The trio had finally made it to Saffron City and were currently at the pokecenter. Clyde and Ronnie Anne had just finished calling their families and let them know where they were and update them on how things were going. Lynn meanwhile was still talking to Professor Juniper about getting the team she wanted for the match. When they finished both younger teens were discussing Sabrina and her gym.

"Saffron is a Psychic Gym, so she will likely use Psychic Types" Clyde told his friend. "Which means you have a slight advantage. Poochyena and Houndour are both Dark Types, which means Psychic Type moves won't affect them. However Nidorina will be at a disadvantage due to its Poison Type."

"What about you?" Ronnie Anne asked.

"My Oddish is the same as your Nidoran" he replied, worry laced his words. "Milcery is neutral, neither of them know any moves that will help either. Plus they are my only Pokemon, judging by Lynn's battles so far this might be a three versus three match." He then subtly looked to his backpack which held the egg he got, safety secure and protected with some of his clothes.

"So you're in for a tough battle" she said with a frown. "She's already intimidating, but from what we've seen she'll be very skilled as well."

"You got that right" a familiar voice said to both of them. They both looked at the voice and saw Lynn approaching them. "Sabrina has a reputation for not holding back, even against new trainers. She is the best Psychic Type Trainer in Kanto and is known in other places as one of the best Psychic Trainers. Misty and Brock were a good starting point for you two, but Sabrina will be a test on if you can overcome powerful trainers." Both younger teens looked nervous but nodded in understanding of what was ahead of them. "Well I'm ready now, so let's make our way to the gym." Both nodded in agreement and walked out of the pokecenter. However Ronnie Anne noticed Lynn was wearing something on her wrist that wasn't there before.

"Hey Lynn, what's that bracelet?" She asked, drawing Clyde's attention to the object.

"Chances you'll find out in my gym match" the older girl replied with a smirk, before continuing walking.

They soon found themselves in front of a building similar to Pewter City, only with the Psychic Symbol on top. The inside was much different than the other gyms they saw though. Upon entering they only see a large empty room with a battlefield in the center. There are no windows and the walls are painted a mixture of soft purples, blues, whites, black, and darker pinks mixing into one another. The only light is coming from the fluorescent lights in the ceiling. There were no chairs or seats of any kind for people to come and watch. On the opposite side of the room stood Sabrina, who looked the same when they saw on television, and the referee waiting there as if expecting them.

"Welcome to the Saffron City" Sabrina greeted them, with the same cold and monotone voice they saw on television. "I'm Sabrina the Gym Leader, you three are here for your third badge." While it sounded like a question, she said it more like a statement. She then pointed towards Lynn. "You will be going first." The trio of trainers were taken aback by all this, but accepted it nonetheless. They didn't talk about the order they were going in and were going to decide at the gym. However it now seems like they're order was already decided.

So as Lynn went to her position and went through the usual routine, Clyde and Ronnie Anne went to stand off to the side to watch the match. "She is more intimidating in person," Clyde whispered to his fellow trainer.

"Yeah no kidding," Ronnie Anne whispered back. "I thought that might have been a role she was putting up, but I guess we saw the real her on TV."

Their attention was brought back to the battlefield as the referee began to speak. "This is an official match between Sabrina of the Saffron City Gym and Lynn Loud Junior from Royal Woods. Both trainers will be able to use three Pokemon, with only the challenger being able to switch out Pokemon. The battle is over when all of someone's Pokemon is unable to battle or one forfeits. The match begins now."

"Go Raichu" Sabrina said, a pokeball floated out of her pocket, expanded and threw onto the battlefield. The Pokemon that was released was a Raichu, however it was an Alohan one. It let out a cry as it surfed on its tail while floating.

"Let do this Scrafty!" Lynn said releasing her own Pokemon. The Hoodlum Pokemon let out a cry of her own as she got ready to battle. "Start things with a Throat Chop!" Scrafty then charged at the Psychic/Electric Pokemon ready to attack.

"Use Reflect" Sabrina order. A translucent barrier then appeared around Raichu, completely blocking Scrafty's attack. "Now use Brick Break" the Alohan Mouse then struck Scrafty with a swift and powerful chop, pushing her back.

"Two can play that way, use Brick Break to shatter its Reflect!" The Loud girl commanded. Scrafty rushed back to the floating mouse and delivered the strike, breaking the Reflect.

The Raichu staggered back from the hit and Reflect shattering, but quickly got its bearings. "Now use Thunder" the dark hair gym leader ordered. The Psychic/Electric Pokemon started to charge electricity around itself.

"Quickly use Dig to dodge the attack!" Lynn shouted in urgency. Scrafty also knew what was coming, so quickly started digging to hide beneath the ground. She just got deep enough before the electricity struck.

"Now use Reflect followed with Calm Mind" Sabrina said in her same emotionless monotone voice. Another translucent barrier surrounding the Alohan Mouse and it started to meditate.

"Use Brick Break again, don't let it strengthen up!" The Hoodlum Pokemon then broke through the ground underneath Raichu, doing no damage because of Reflect. Then immediately followed with Brick Break, hitting the floating Mouse shattering Reflect and snapping it out of its meditation.

"Use Focus Blast," the gym leader said. Raichu created a ball of energy and fired it, sending Scrafty back and dealing modest damage.

"Counter with Payback and follow it with Assurance!" Scrafty closed the distance and started her attack. Raichu was able to dodge the Payback, but not the Assurance. Seeing Raichu stagger, Scrafty used Payback to knock Raichu out.

"Raichu is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Scrafty." Ronnie Anne and Clyde started to cheer, while Lynn let out a sigh of relief. Sabrina's expression didn't change as she recalled her Pokemon and got ready to send her next one out.

"Go Metagross" she said as its pokeball floated to the field. A blue metal quadrupedal creature.

Seeing the Pokemon, Lynn recalled Scrafty and sent out a different Pokemon. "It's your turn, Pangoro" she shouted, sending out a large bipedal Panda. "Start things off with Darkest Lariat!" The Daunting Pokemon charged towards his opponent.

"Use Miracle Eye followed by Psycho Cut" the Psychic gym leader ordered. Metagross's body was surrounded by purple energy before vanishing. Darkest Lariat struck it and pushed it back slightly, but it countered by striking it with a psychic energy blade.

"Damn it, it can now use Psychic attack" Lynn muttered to herself.

"This isn't good," Clyde said with worry.

"Why? What's going on" Ronnie asked in confusion and concern.

"Lynn had a slight advantage using Dark/Fighting Types because Psychic moves wouldn't work against them…" Clyde started to explain. "...However, Miracle Eye allows Metagross to use Psychic attacks on Dark Types. Which means Sabrina now has the advantage since Fighting Types are weak against Psychic Types." The young girl nodded in understatement, wondering how their mentor were going to handle this.

"Let's try to end this quickly, use Night Slash!" The ponytail trainer shouted. Pangoro nodded in agreement and charged the Iron Leg Pokemon.

"Use Reflect then Zen Headbutt" Sabrina orders, calm as ever. Metagross made a translucent barrier to reduce the damage from the Night Slash, then headbutt it with Psychic energy.

Pangoro was slightly pushed back and was damaged, but was still able to fight. "Use Brick Break to shatter Reflect and follow with Night Slash!" He let out a small growl of understanding and went to attack.

"Finish it with Hammer Arm" the dark hair gym leader commanded. Metagross nodded and was ready to end this battle for its trainer. Pangoro shattered Reflect while doing damage to Metagross. Hammer Arm and Night Slash struck their targets at the same time, causing both Pokemon to be knocked out.

"Both Pokemon are unable to battle," the referee announced. "This round is a draw." Both trainer and gym leader recalling their Pokemon, with Lynn thanking her's, and getting ready to send out their next Pokemon.

"I can't believe this," Ronnie muttered with a wide eyed expression. "Lynn actually lost a round."

"Yeah, I mean we shouldn't be surprised," Clyde said to her with his own shocked expression. "Lynn's not unbearable, she is bound to lose every now and then."

"Yeah I know," she responded to her friend. "It's just she never lost since we started this journey, I guess a part of me thought she'd never lose."

"Alright, I know you're tired, but let's try to end this Scrafty!" Lynn shouted releasing the slightly exhausted Hoodlum Pokemon.

"Go Alakazam" an stone face Sabrina said, with its pokeball floating to the field. It released the bipedal due spoon holding Pokemon. "Now it's time to truly test you" she told her opponent and lifted one of her sleeves. Underneath her sleeve was a bracelet identical to the one Lynn was wearing. Then a small colorfully orb then floated out of one her pockets and levitated near the bracelet.

"Hey that looks like the same thing Lynn is wearing" Ronnie Anne shouted in surprise.

"Yeah but what is it?" Clyde asked.

Sabrina then inserted the orb into the bracelet. The orb started to glow brightly, while Alakazam started to glow as well. When the glowing faded, Alakazam looked different then how it used to. Its head had grew a point, its brown body became a pale purple, it levitated cross legged, and had a large white beard. Both younger trainers were shocked to see this Pokemon, because they saw it used in Lincoln's battle against her.

"So I was right," Lynn said to her opponent with a small smile. "You were planning to use it against me like you did for Lincoln."

"Okay, how did we miss that thing change when watching Lincoln's match?!" The Mexican American teen asked her comrade.

"I think we were talking about how Lincoln won the last round and didn't notice until it changed," he replied.

"Use Miracle Eye" the Psychic gym leader commanded.

"Quickly use Bulk Up and Work Up!" the athletic teen shouted. Scrafty glowed with brown energy twice, while Alakazam glowed purple.

"Use Future Sight" Alakazam started to meditate with eyes closed.

"Now use Drain Punch" Scrafty's fist glowed before punching the Psi Pokemon. However Alakazam didn't look fazed.

"Now use Psyshock" Alakazam eyes open and unleashed a wave of psychic energy, pushing its opponent back. "Finish it with Psychic." Scrafty was then picked up by a pink purplish energy and slammed onto the ground a couple of times before being knocked out.

"Scrafty is unable to battle," the referee announced. "The winner is Alakazam." Both younger trainers were taken aback seeing Lynn lose another Pokemon, while the trainer herself took a deep breath after thanking her Pokemon.

"Well this is a bit of a risk, but it's your turn Blaziken!" Lynn said releasing the Blaze Pokemon, she then pulled out a colorfully orb from her own pocket. "You're not the only one who can Mega Evolve" she then inserted the orb into her bracelet, causing the same thing to happen to Alakazam to happen to Blaziken. When the glow faded, he was now red and black instead of red and orange. His white feathers had also changed shape and had 2 streams of fire coming from both wrists.

"Mega Evolve?!" Ronnie Anne screamed in awe, shock, and confusion.

"I remember studying it for the test, but it never showed up," Clyde said in awe. "I didn't think we would see this until the end of the season tournament."

"Use Calm Mind" Sabrina ordered, and Alakazam started to meditate.

"Since you're going to power up, so are we," Lynn commented. "Let's start with Bulk Up!" As both Pokemon glowed and strengthened themselves, a beam of psychic energy came out of nowhere and struck Blaziken. He was hurt badly from the attack, but still ready to fight.

"What was that!?!" The young tan skin girl asked.

"That was Alakazam's Future Sight attack" Clyde calmly replied. "It's a move that will hit your opponent sometime further in the battle. It will still happen even if the Pokemon that used it is knocked out and out of the battle." Ronnie Anne could only look at him flabbergasted at the move, before refocusing back on the battle.

"Now use Shadow Claws!" Blaziken wasted no time and struck while Alakazam was still meditating. It was a little stunned and took some damage.

"Use Disable and then Reflect" Blaziken's body glowed blue for a second before a translucent barrier surrounding Alakazam.

"Alright then, use Sunny Day and follow up with Brick Break!" The Blaze Pokemon created a medium sized orb of light before it floated high over the center of the battlefield. He then ran close and hit his opponent, shattering the barrier. "Keep the pressure on with Blaze Kick!" One of his feet ignited and his kick landed, pushing the fellow Mega Pokemon back.

"Use Confusion" Sabrina commanded. Alakazam was about to attack with its move, but it suddenly stopped and winced in pain.

"Finish this while it's burned, use Night Slash!" Lynn shouted, seeing an opportunity. Blaziken raced towards the Psi Pokemon and started to slash at it. With the burn and the attack, it was too much and knocked it out.

"Alakazam is unable to battle" the referee announced while holding his hand on Lynn's side up in the air. "Blaziken is the winner and Lynn Loud has won the match." Lynn let out a sigh of relief, while her students were cheering. Blaziken let out a tired cry of victory before getting thanked by his trainer and returning to his pokeball.

Sabrina recalled Alakazam, her expression never changing. "Congratulations, you earned the Marsh Badge" she commented as she floated the badge to Lynn with her psychic abilities. Her challenger thanked her and then she turned her attention to the younger female trainer. "You're next."
