King Bailey

There's no doubt that today is going to be interesting. For one thing, we are going to try to figure out an imposter.

King Hugo, King Ricardo, and King Lyvot were all going to come in and be questioned about his rumor, which has been going on for some time now.

Of course, I believe what Hugo tells me about him not being the one who hurt Duke Ben.

I didn't believe them for one second. I know Hugo and his family well enough to know they aren't capable of doing that.

However, other people aren't so sure of this, and I can no longer procrastinate the date. The people on the council are getting impatient, especially with the threat of the treaty trade.

No one trusts each other. Not that I don't blame them because I wouldn't want to be with the traitor either.

I tried my best to avoid the questioning as much as possible until I could get some answers, but I wasn't very successful.

Hugo and I think that the person trying to frame him and the tractor of the treaty could be the same person.

The reason for this is because Whelsire was attacked yet again, like all those years ago. The proof lies with the powerful kingdoms; they're allies of the kingdom of Whelsire.

Why would they dare attack them when they're friends or family? It doesn't make any sense.

Many small kingdoms can't because they are barely growing, and Whelsire is usually the one who helps them.

What is even more concerning was what Hugo told me last night about King Ricardo's kingdom.

"Like as far as I know, I have never heard of him, and neither has my wife, and she went to Ever realm academy,"

There was something about Hugo's words that I couldn't entirely brush off, and it was about Ricardo's past.

As far as we know, his kingdom is new because neither I nor Queen Sofia learned about it at Ever Realm Academy.

The proof is that the Queen of Whelsire and I went to Ever Realm Academy for different years.

If I can't remember them naming the kingdom, it means it wasn't one when I was there, and Sofia wasn't there.

This is starting to worry me because it says to have been there for 20 years, which would mean it was just one when Sofia's son was born.

When I see him, I will ask if he has heard of this kingdom and its original story.

The strangest thing, though, is that a few miles south of the kingdom of Amathest, there was another kingdom called Stone.

However, it strangely disappeared, and many people say that, in fact, that kingdom never existed.

When I visited Ricardo yesterday, I stopped by the village to question the villagers, and they didn't know how to respond.

Many of them looked at me as if I was crazy, while others seemed a bit terrified and avoided the question before running off.

This made me question even more: Why would some people look afraid or scared to answer the question?

'If Stone did exist before, what happened to it? Why are people acting like it never existed?' I thought before shaking my head.

The next person I could ask is Princess Rosalie. She's the princess and would know everything about her kingdom, right?

If so, maybe that's why Ricardo is so hard on her; perhaps she knows something and is blackmailing her.

It all made sense, but there was just one problem: Amathest is set to be 20, and Rosalie is younger than that.

This means she wasn't even born before it was changed, and if it were, in fact, Stone, they would have changed everything by the time she was born.

I needed answers, so I started hanging out with Lyvot and Ricardo to get them on my side. The purpose of this was to discover, to go undercover. However, I was taking a significant risk.

If they turned out to be the traitors and they found out, they could easily have me killed before anyone found out the truth.

That is why I ensure I am careful, play my role right with them, and, most importantly, have a backup.

That's where King Hugo and Queen Sofia come in. I know them, along with their parents, Garrick and Roland. I know I am guaranteed safety and trust with them.

However, Hugo didn't want to involve Sofia in everything in case something happened, so we didn't tell her about the plan for me to go undercover.

The reason for this, and I agree with Hugo on this, is for her safety. Knowing Sofia, she would have wanted to help, and this part isn't safe for her and her family.

Especially since Lyvot seems to hate her family so much, especially Hugo, and I can't see why. Hugo barely knows him.

Lyvot and Ricardo have ten years on Sofia and Hugo, so it doesn't make sense to hate Hugo.

They never went to the same school and never even talked when we all attended balls. They've always stayed in touch.

This makes sense since they have been friends for years and keep many secrets.

Again, I recently joined their group for information, but they aren't fully talking when I'm around them.

I expected this initially since they don't trust me yet, but they include me because I represent power. I am sure they don't talk to anyone since all their allies have some sort of power.

They included me in their group because of the power my family has had since we created the treaty deals.

He needs me on his side for something; otherwise, he wouldn't have talked to me and proved it many times.

The good thing is that the council isn't easily fooled by this type of issue since we deal with it every few years.

About 20 years ago, there was a problem with Alcazar, King Frederick, and his daughter.

However, we know it is not them because they died, and Louis wouldn't attack them or take revenge since they are friends.

The council is also changing a lot, and right now, the kingdom rulers really hold the power of the Ever Realms.

It's not that they don't believe Hugo and his innocence; it's more that people are beginning to question whether the council can do its job.

They could accuse the council of playing favorites and being corrupted if we don't hold a meeting.

We are already having trouble with the treaty and don't need them, and we think the council is corrupted, too.

The good thing is that since all the kingdoms know Hugo, the process can be easily handled.

At least one member of each kingdom serves on the council, with me being the main judge who renders verdicts.

However, I can't let this trial end quickly, or Ricardo and Lyvot might start suspecting something.

I need to make sure this trial lasts for a few days, and if I'm being honest, this shouldn't be hard.

This is because we need Lady Malorie's testimony; we need her to say what need to hear her side of the story to make a decision, and she is nowhere to be found.

She hasn't responded to any of the letters, and we think she might be hiding in her castle with her children.

I totally understand. She not only has to care for her children, but now she has a whole kingdom that depends on her.

You would think King Lyvot would step in and try to help her, but the bastard hasn't done anything to help her.

Except make things worse by attacking Whelsire, which makes things tricky.

He's confessed to me about doing it, but as a friend, not a judge, if I were to ask him in the courtroom, he would have to say the truth.

If it does not, I would know and have to arrest him for lying in a courtroom, making everything else fall apart.

But I can't let him get away with attacking Whelsire, which is why we need Lady Malorie's statement.

I was beginning to worry when she didn't respond to the letters or hadn't been seen in a while.

However, the good thing is that I know she is doing well with her family and doing what she can to help the kingdom find her husband.

Hugo mentioned that he and Sofia would meet with her soon before Wassalia's day in Sofia knows one of her relatives, and they will meet her there.

The only thing that will happen today is our interrogation, which, depending on how it goes, might determine Hugo's situation.

This is because the council or Whelsire is not happy with these rumors and is threatening to remove Hugo from the throne until the issue is resolved.

This seems like a terrible idea, especially given the personal attacks that have been happening there.

If they remove Hugo from the throne, they will replace him with anyone they want, which could potentially hurt Whelsire.

It will leave them as an open target. They will attack Whelsire in a day, creating chaos for everyone.

What's even worse is that many of the council members from Whelsire are other words, they don't believe the queen can take the position.

They want a man but don't want the heir to the throne because it could show the wrong message.

In other words, they don't care if the chosen person fails because the council will be seen as heroes if they are proven right.

However, if it turns out they were right, all they do is blame the king and queen for getting into those sticky situations, leaving them to fix the mess they created alone.

Hugo and Sofia have been trying to change those council members, but it's hard when many don't want to retire.

I took a deep breath and raised my hands before standing up to walk around my office.

'It's almost time,' I thought as I noticed the clock read one o'clock.

The meeting was set to begin at two o'clock, and I had to find out where the council was and what they wanted to ask Hugo.

I was about to take a seat when a sudden knock interrupted my thoughts, making me turn towards the door.

"Come in," I said as the door opened to reveal one of my guards.

"Your majesty, many of the council members are beginning to arrive," he said as I nodded and walked up to him.

"Oh good, I was expecting them," I said as we began to walk towards finding them.

Once we reached the outside doors of the courtroom, I noticed many familiar faces standing there.

"Bailey, how are you?" Asked King Magnus as I smiled at him.

"I am doing good; what about you?" I asked him as he smiled.

"I would be doing better if I were home eating. My chef created the best ribs, and I was to eat them today," he said as I smiled.

'Same old Magnus.' I thought and chuckled slightly.

"Sorry, Magnus, but as you know, I couldn't push it forever," I said as he nodded.

"Hopefully, this will be quick," he said as I smiled.

"I hope so; please go in and take a seat. Make yourself at home while we wait for the rest," I said as he nodded.

"Who would have thought I would have a seat at the jurors," he said, smiling as I nodded.

Another Royal carriage arrived, revealing King Louis and Queen Leena of Alcazar.

"Good evening, your majesties," I said as they smiled and nodded.

"Good evening, King Bailey; how are you?" Asked Louis as I smiled.

"I am doing good, and you?" I asked as he smiled.

"Good. I hope he can be cleared quickly because I don't believe this for one second," he said as I smiled.

"Hopefully, today, we'll find that out. Please come in and have a seat," I said as he smiled, and they both walked in.

I didn't comment on that because I saw King Lyvot coming up from far away, and I didn't want him to hear anything I said.

"Foolish child, if he believes he's innocent, he will have a big disappointment," he said as I smiled slightly.

"Not now, Lyvot. You'll have your chance to speak soon," I said as he rolled his eyes before shaking his head.

"Don't worry, Bailey, I won't say anything," he whispered as I nodded, gesturing him to enter as he nodded.

I looked around, trying not to make it obvious, hoping no one would see us whisper; that could lead to trouble.

Thankfully, no one saw this, which relieves me as I wait for more kingdoms to show up.

Soon enough, the rest came, such as Enchancia, Zumaria, Freezenberg, Wei-Lin, Tangu, Corinthia, Khaldoun, Shale, Acidalia, Orion, and Mezbez.

Almost all the kingdoms were here except Amathest and Whelsire, which seems interesting since these two are the ones who are head-to-head.

Soon enough, I saw King Ricardo finally show up, and I couldn't help but smile.

'One down, one more to go,' I thought as he approached me with a smile as I nodded at him.

"King Ricardo," I said as he bowed and smiled.

"King Bailey," he addressed as I nodded.

"Everyone is waiting inside, please have a seat anywhere you'd like. We will start in a moment," I said as he smiled.

"Am I the last one?" He asked as I shook my head.

"Still waiting on Whelsire," I said as he smirked before chuckling slightly.

"Hope he's not making a run for it," he said as I smiled and shook my head.

"I talked with him yesterday, and he said he would be here," I said as he nodded.

"Just him?" he asked, and I wondered what he meant by that.

"I think so," I said as he raised his eyebrow.

"Strange, he usually doesn't come alone to these meetings; the queen is always with him," he said as I shrugged.

"Maybe she grew tired of him and is getting ready to kick him to the curb," he said as I smiled.

"Possibly, who knows?" I said as he nodded and walked inside. I couldn't help but raise my eyebrow.

'Strange, why would he think that? Ever so, why would he care if the queen were to leave him or not?' I thought as I shook my head.

"Curious, very curious," I said as I saw a shadow and looked up to see the floating carriage of Whelsire.

As the carriage landed and the door opened, I quickly saw many familiar faces, which made me smile as they approached me.

"King Bailey," said Hugo as his family and he approached me.

"King Hugo, Queen Sofia, Garrick. Welcome, please make yourself at home," I said as they smiled.

"Thank you, you are kind," said Queen Sofia as I smiled.

"Garrick, I'm sorry about the situation, but I..." I stared as he cut me off.

"Don't worry about it, Bailey, I understand. Plus, there's nothing to worry about if we aren't hiding anything," he said, smiling as I nodded.

"That's right," I said, looking at Hugo. He nodded, and I looked over to see Prince William and his future wife, Princess Rosalie.

"Princess Rosalie, it sure is a pleasure to have you and Prince William here with us," I said as she swallowed hard before smiling slightly.

"The pleasure is mine, King Bailey," she said as I smiled.

"Please come in and have a seat; we are going to start in a few minutes," I said as they nodded before walking in.

Once they walked inside, I closed the doors before heading inside the courtroom myself.

I walked in, making everyone turn towards me as I headed to my seat; I stood in front of it and looked at everyone before sitting down.

Then they took their seats. The council members sat on the right benches from me. The rest of the family sat on the front benches in front of my seat, with a chair in the middle.

This seat was for the person speaking. It was in front of me for questioning, but also for the person to be seen by the people on the right.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for coming very quickly. It is very much appreciated," I said as many smiled and nodded.

"You have been called upon to help solve the issue involving Whelsire and Duke Ben's disappearance," I said as many began to murmur.

"A few weeks ago, two to be exact, it was reported that Duke Ben was missing his wife, Lady Malorie," I started, as everyone heard.

"He was said to have visited Whelsire that day and never seemed to return," I started, but someone on the right cut me off.

"Who claims that King Bailey?" Asked King James, raising his eyebrow.

"Lady Malorie said that's what she was told," I said but was interrupted again.

"By whom?" Asked King Magnus, concerned.

"My question is, where is Lady Malorie? Isn't she supposed to be here? To say her side of the story?" Asked King Zandar as everyone began to murmur.

"We can't seem to find her," I added.

"How convenient of her," said King Axel, crossing his arms as I looked at Hugo.

"I still don't get it. Why are we here?" Asked King Jared confused.

"Because they accuse King Hugo of having to do something with his disappearance since they claim he was the last one to see him," I said.

"Who's they?" Asked King Dominik, confused.

"Lady Malorie," I said as Axel slightly chuckled, annoyed.

"And yet she's not here; how convenient, don't you think?" He asked as people began to talk.

"Axel, should you even be allowed to vote on this council meeting?" Asked Lyvot as Axel looked at him confused.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Asked Axel as Lyvot smiled.

"I mean, he's your brother. Of course, you wouldn't find him guilty. I'm just saying I don't think you should be part of the decision since you are related to the accused," he said as I shook my head.

"Everyone here has something that connects them to King Hugo, whether it's family or business," added Queen Amber as everyone nodded.

"Family is one thing, just like business," added king Zandar.

"And I am sure, we can all be professional here," added King Derek as everyone nodded.

I looked at Lyvot and saw him looking at Ricardo. He didn't seem happy, and it looked like he was telling him to shut up.

"King Hugo, please come up and sit on the front chair," I said as he looked at his family before standing up.

He walked over and sat as I looked at his family before looking at the rest of the jurors.

"King Hugo, you are hereby accused of Kidnapping Duke Ben. How do you plead?" I asked him.

"Not guilty," He said as I nodded.

"Then you wouldn't mind answering a few questions?" I asked as he shook his head.

"Of course not. I have nothing to hide, ask away," he said as I nodded.

"How do you know Duke Ben?" I asked him.

"I don't. I know who he is and what he does, but I don't know anything about him," he said as I nodded.

"Can you explain a bit more on that?" I asked as he nodded.

"I know he's the lord of Aragon and is married to Lady Malorie. And I think they have a son," he said as I nodded.

"You think?" I asked as he nodded.

"From what other people have said, as I said, I don't know much about him or his personal life," he said as I nodded.

"So, you never had any deals with him?" I asked as he shook his head.

"Never, the only person I talked to from Aragon is King Lyvot," he said as I heard a familiar voice.

"That's a lie!" Exclaimed Lyvot as I looked to see him standing up from his juror chair.

"Have a seat, King Lyvot," I said as he ignored me.

"You know him; he visited you that day he disappeared!" He exclaimed as Hugo shook his head.

"For what? I don't have any deals with him; I barely have them with you," added Hugo.

"How come?" Asked King Dominik, confused.

"He's never been an ally of mine, never asked for help," said Hugo as they nodded.

"In fact, the only time he proposed a deal to me was the last one," said Hugo.

"What was this deal?" Asked King Nicolas as everyone looked at him. I looked over at Sofia; she wouldn't like hearing this.

"He proposed we make a union, that I have my daughter and his son be betrothed to each other," he said as everyone gasped.

"What?" Asked Sofia, confused and annoyed as I tried to calm everyone down.

"Alright, alright, let's come back together," I said as people continued to talk.

"Seems to me that could be a motive," said King Axel as King James nodded.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Asked King Lyvot, annoyed as they looked at him.

"It means you have reasons to attack Whelsire," said Queen Amber as he looked at her confused.

"Why would I attack Whelsire?" He said innocently.

"Because King Hugo didn't accept your deal," added King Jun as many people began nodding.

"I mean, you don't take things easily when you lose Lyvot," said King Leo. Lyvot looked at him with wide eyes, and Ricardo shook his head.

Deep down, I knew he was enjoying this; everyone was falling apart, and he was claiming to be innocent.

But Hugo and I knew deep down that he was not as innocent as he seemed to be; we just needed to catch him.

So far, I noticed he hasn't seen theWhelsire family, which is a surprise since he knows his daughter is with them.

"Order, here, people order," I said as they still began to murmur.

"Which would mean you send the attackers on Whelsire!" Exclaimed Axel as my eyes widened.

'Shit! I didn't want this to come to light yet,' I thought as I looked at the jurors.

"What attack?" Asked King Zandar as I looked over at Hugo and nodded as he began to talk.

"A few days after Duke Ben disappeared, I received a letter from King Lyvot," said Hugo as I nodded.

"What did the note say?" I asked as he reached into his pocket and took a piece of paper.

"I have it here for you," he said, extending his arm for me to grab as I looked at a guard. He went to pick up the letter before handing it to me.

I grabbed the letter and read it quietly before I sighed and began to read it in front of everyone.

"King Hugo,

You are at this moment named the suspect of the murder of Duke Ben; he was said to arrive and discuss manners with you in your palace a few days ago and has yet to return home.

His wife has contacted me about this situation, and I agree that it is weird that he disappeared the day he was set to meet you.

We will do everything we can to make sure justice is provided for Duke Ben, and I hope for your own good you are not the cause of his death.

If we find out you were involved in some way in his disappearance or even death, we will make sure you hang for your crimes.

Sincerely, King Lyvot of Aragon."I finished looking up and couldn't help but feel slightly relieved.

At least he wasn't stupid enough to write down what he said; that could have worsened things.

"What a coincidence that he sends his guards to attack Whelsire after that?" Said King Axel as everyone began to murmur.

"Lies, all lies. I never send my men there," he said, standing up.

"I was there and saw your flag carried with the red and black soldiers," said Queen Amber.

"Maybe this was all Lady Malorie's doing," he said as many rolled their eyes.

"How convenient that you blame her when she's not here to defend herself," said King James.

"How do you even know my men's color? No one rarely knows them?" Asked King Lyvot as Queen Amber smiled.

"I didn't until Princess Rosalie of Amathest confirmed it, and I have no reason to doubt her since you and her Father are close," said Queen Amber as people began to talk.

"Order, order," I said as people quieted down except for Lyvot.

"You took the word of a silly child?" He asked, chuckling as Amber smiled.

"You can ask her yourself; she's here in the room. But since you confirmed it, I don't think it will be necessary," she said as I looked at Ricardo.

He immediately looked shocked and began to look around to see if he could find Rosalie. It took him a few minutes, but he found her.

However, the look he gave her wasn't what a loving Father would give his daughter. The look said I need to make sure you don't talk.

"King Bailey, If I may," said a voice as I turned to see Queen Maya of Khaldoun, and I nodded.

"I think we can all agree here that a lot is going on here with not much evidence to support certain claims," she said as many agreed.

"I agree with that, Queen Maya; I suggest we take a small recess to think about the questions King Hugo answered," I said as they nodded.

"If we don't have any more questions, I suggest we dismiss for another day," said King Nicolas as many nodded.

"I second it," said King Louis.

"Me too," said King, Axel, and James as King Jared and Dominik nodded.

"Alright, 15-minute recess," I said as everyone nodded. We all stood up from our seats and began to walk around.

Immediately, I headed to my office, passed by Hugo, and gave him a look that said, 'I will talk to you later.'

He slightly nodded understanding as I looked at Ricardo and saw him looking at me.

I gave him a look and then moved my eyes to Lyvot, trying not to make it obvious before looking back at Ricardo.

He nodded slightly before going to Lyvot. As I made my way to my office, I saw them following me as I turned the corner.

As soon as I walked into my office, I opened the door for Ricardo and Lyvot to enter.

"Want to explain to me what the hell that was?" I asked, annoyed, looking at Lyvot as Ricardo smirked.

"It was me defending myself," said Lyvot as I shook my head.

"No, this was you being stupid," said Ricardo as I nodded.

"You do know that he opened a door, which now we are forced to investigate," I said as he rolled his eyes.

"You won't send me to jail," he said, smirking as I looked at Ricardo, and he raised his eyebrow.

"You really think he's going to save your ass because of your mess up?" Asked Ricardo as Lyvot looked at him confused.

"Wouldn't you?" Asked Lyvot as Ricardo sighed and began to walk around him.

"My dear friend, I would do anything I can, but if it comes down to my power or you, and I know you screw this up. I would choose my power," he said, smiling as Lyvot's eyes widened.

"Let's not go too far. Hopefully, we can avoid that for now," I said, and Lyvot nodded.

"And I think you have to start with that daughter of yours, Ricardo. Make sure she keeps her mouth shut," said Lyvot as Ricardo nodded.

"Rosalie is harmless, but it couldn't hurt to warn her about keeping her mouth shut," said Ricardo as we nodded.

"About what? She doesn't know anything about us," I added as Ricardo nodded.

"True, she knowsnothing about our deals, but she does know about our kingdoms and allies," said Ricardo as I nodded.

"But that's what everyone else knows as well; I mean, they saw it at the event," I said as he thought momentarily.

"Plus, I don't know if you'd noticed, but she seemed close with the Whelsire family," said Lyvot as Ricardo thought momentarily.

"Yes, I did. She barely acknowledged me, and this could bring us trouble," said Ricardo, pacing.

"Do you think she's fallen for the boy?" Lyvot asked worriedly as Ricardo stopped pacing and looked up, annoyed.

"She better not have, or this could ruin my plans. But I don't think so. I mean, when she was engaged to your son, she seemed close to you guys, too," he said, walking back to us.

"Maybe she's just playing the part," he said as we nodded.

"How good is she at playing her part?" I asked as Ricardo smirked.

"Rosalie does everything I tell her. She doesn't dare disobey me; she knows better than that," he said, smirking as I smiled.

"So, if you were to tell her to, let's say, kill someone from the Whelsire family, would she do it?" I asked as he chuckled.

"She's not a murder, but essentially, it would be as if she stabbed them; she would get the information I need her to get to help me get rid of them," he said as I nodded.

"So, she does nothing then," said Lyvot as I shook my head.

"She's the accomplice," I added as Ricardo nodded.

"Or the actual murder, I can make her seem like she planned it all in the beginning," said Ricardo as I smiled.

"Excellent news," I said as they nodded.

"Amazing what a simple old lady can help you do," he said as I looked at him, confused.

"What do you mean?" I asked as he smiled and shrugged it off.

"Don't worry about it, just know I'm all covered," he said as I nodded.

"Now, what do we do?" Asked Lyvot as I thought.

"All we can do is wait and hope Lady Malorie doesn't show up, or she will tell the truth, and you will be sunk, my friend," I said as he looked annoyed.

"It's my word against hers," said Lyvot as I shrugged.

"Why don't we head outside before someone notices all of us missing," I said as they nodded.

"That's a Good idea. It gives me a chance to visit my daughter," said Ricardo, smirking, as we nodded and headed out of the office.

"Stay low, Lyvot, and keep your mouth shut," I said as he rolled his eyes and nodded.

"Alright, alright," he said before disappearing out of my sight.

As I was returningback, I noticed the Whelsire family except one member, Rosalie.

I found it a bit odd because she was with them all the time, and then the next thing I knew, she wasn't.

I don't think Rosalie is a bad girl; I think she's stuck in a sticky situation.

Looking over at Hugo, I gesture with my eyes so he can see that someone from his group is missing.

I looked around and noticed that Ricardo was nowhere in sight, and it was then I knew.

He was with her, and we needed to find her quickly before something happened.

I was about to turn a corner when I saw him, her, and William, and this didn't seem like a very good sign.

'Checkmate Ricardo,' I thought of before walking beside them.

Princess Rosalie

"Are you ready?" Asked William as we were preparing to leave the castle and head to the court.

"Yes," I said, slightly nervous as I bit my lip, and he smiled.

"You'll be okay, I promise. He won't be able to do anything to you," he said as I took a deep breath.

"I will be with you all the time," he said as I smiled and nodded.

Once William told me that we were going with his parents to King Bailey's kingdom to attend his Father's questioning, I completely froze.

I instantly went into shock because that meant many other kingdoms would surround me, and I didn't want that.

I didn't want them to question me about my Father; even worse, I didn't want to see him.

After some time, I was finally starting to feel happy and welcomed here. I was so pleased my Father was out of my life, and there were no more threats or abuse.

But now, I'm worried that things might return to how they were once I see him, and I didn't want that; it brought me fear.

"Promise?" I asked as he smiled and nodded.

"Promise," he said, smiling as I smiled and nodded.

"Okay, I'm ready," I said, smiling.

"That's my tough Dove," he said as I took his arm, and we made our way to the carriage.

Today, I decided to wear a beautiful baby blue ballgown with Juliet's long sleeves and diamonds on the top of the corset.

My hair was half up and half down, and I had a simple diamond necklace with matching button earrings.

I was also wearing my engagement ring, which is good. If not, others will start to question whether William and I really are engaged.

William finally gave me my engagement ring a few days ago, and since then, I haven't taken it off at all.

Flashback

I was at the library with William as we discussed our wedding preparations. We had accomplished a lot, but we still had many things to do.

"Alright, next is the number of guests. Have we agreed that the number should be no more than 250?" I asked as he nodded.

"And it mostly is family," he added as I smiled and nodded before checking the box.

"Next," I said as I sighed.

I am not going to lie. It is a lot to plan a wedding. If I'm having difficulty now, imagine when I have to plan balls.

'This is going to be a disaster.' I thought before I bit my lip nervously and sighed.

It was then that I felt a pair of hands land on my chin. Slowly, the hands pushed upwards, changing my view completely.

I was now looking at William and his amazing sparkling green eyes, and I couldn't help but feel myself blush slightly.

"Hey, it's okay. We'll take it step by step, one day at a time if necessary," he said as I nodded.

"It's just…. I already suck at this, what if I can't plan a ball?" I said as he smiled.

"Then we won't have them, and that will make me so happy because I hate balls," he said as I couldn't help but giggle slightly.

My eyes widened for a second, and then I saw William's eyes widen for a second as well.

"You laughed? I don't think I've ever heard you laugh before," he said as I looked down, smiling before he brought my gaze back to him.

"I love it; I want to hear more of it," he said as I smiled.

"We'll have plenty of time for that," I said, smiling as he smirked.

"Yes, we will, my little Dove," he said, smirking. I rolled my eyes playfully and showed him the list.

"Well, there is one thing we can cross from here," he said as I raised my eyebrow.

"Which is?" I asked, raising my eyebrow as he smiled.

"The jewelry, of course," he said as I looked at him in confusion.

"What jewelry? There isn't a jewelry section on here, is there?" I asked, getting up and extending the list.

'Did I miss it in here?' I thought as I scrolled from top to bottom of the list and couldn't find it.

"Are you sure there's a jewelry section? I can't seem to find…." I said, turning around, but I stopped once I looked at William.

Was I seeing this correctly? My eyes were sudden, so I must be seeing clearly right now.

He was on one knee with an open ring box showing me a beautiful silver, flowered vine leaf ring with a crystal rhinestone.

I looked at him and the ring back and forth; I couldn't even speak. I was lost for words; this was really happening.

"I know I'm probably a tad late, but I had to make it specifically for you. For it to be the ring that truly represents you," said William, smiling.

"Rosalie, these past couple of weeks have given us time to get to know each other and have plenty of fun," he said as I chuckled.

"I would be honored if you choose to become my wife, future queen of Whelsire, but most importantly, my lifelong best friend," he said, and I couldn't help but feel my eyes get watery.

Apart from the wonderful speech, it was the question he asked me that stood out. He didn't command me to be his wife like my Father did.

He asked me if I would, he's giving me a choice to become his wife.

"Will you marry me, Dove?" He asked as I smiled and nodded.

"Yes!" I said happily as he took the ring from the box and slid it on my finger before hugging him.

End of flashback

"Are you nervous, Dad?" Asked William to his Father as he smiled and shook his head.

"Not really, since I have nothing to hide," he said as we smiled and nodded.

"It should be quick, though; it's just a couple of questions being asked," said Garrick as Sofia nodded.

"Most importantly, we're all here as a family," said Sofia, smiling at me as I nodded.

I couldn't help but feel slightly nervous at the thought that my Father would possibly be there. I didn't want to see him at all; I have been feeling better and calmer without him.

I feel like the moment I see him, hell is going to break, though, since it's what he's good at—taking away my happiness.

"King Bailey did mention that there are going to be a lot of people there from the council and other kingdoms," said Hugo as he looked at me.

"Which means my Father might be there," I said as he slightly smiled and nodded.

"Don't worry, darling. You're with us now, and we won't leave you alone," Sofia said as I smiled.

"He's probably not even back yet," said GrandDad Garrick as I bit my lip nervously.

'Hopefully not.' I thought as the carriage made a slight dive, and I looked to see that we were beginning to land.

Once we landed, Hugo and Sofia were the first to exit, followed by GrandDad.

William stood out and offered me his hand. I took it and stepped out of the carriage as we saw King Bailey.

He was greeted and welcomed us with hospitality, but as soon as our eyes connected, I grabbed William's hand tighter.

I knew that look; it was the look that my Father was here, and it made me uneasy.

"Princess Rosalie, it sure is a pleasure to have you and Prince William here with us," he said as I swallowed hard before smiling slightly.

"The pleasure is mine, King Bailey," I said as he smiled.

"Please come in and have a seat. We are going to start in a few minutes," he said, and we nodded before walking in.

As we entered, I saw many people looking at us; some looked familiar, while others didn't.

Then again, how could I know all these people since I was locked away instead of meeting people for most of my life?

As we reached our seats, I happened to pass by the same girls I had run into a while ago.

I pretended I did not see them, but the moment they saw me, I could feel their eyes piercing through me; I heard one gasp.

"Look at her hand," whispered one.

"She has a ring," said a different voice.

It was then I couldn't help but smile slightly as William pulled me closer to we took our seats, the meeting began quickly; Hugo was called on to be interrogated.

I looked at the jurors and noticed many of their friends and family members were on the council.A couple weren't, but they seemed like good people who no one would easily fool.

I hope whoever is trying to frame Hugo sees this and stops because I can safely say many council people are on his side.

"Maybe this was all Lady Malorie's doing," said King Lyvot as many rolled their eyes.

After hearing this, I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He really didn't think people would believe this.

He is my Father's best friend, and because of that, I do not believe a word he says. Anyone who is allied with him is the same to me.

They are just looking for power and aren't afraid to get anyone who doesn't think like them out of their way.

The only exception is Duke Ben. I don't know how they became friends or allies, and that is strange to me.

Then again, I don't know many things about my Father; I haven't lived with him my whole life.

Even if I had lived with him my entire life, he would still have many secrets he doesn't want many to know.

"How convenient that you blame her when she's not here to defend herself," said King James.

"How do you even know my men's color? No one rarely knows them?" Asked King Lyvot as Queen Amber smiled.

"I didn't until Princess Rosalie of Amathest confirmed it, and I have no reason to doubt her since you and her Father are close," said Queen Amber.

As soon as she said this, my eyes widened while many people gasped and began to murmur.

"Order, order," said King Bailey as people quieted down except for Lyvot.

"You took the word of a silly child?" He asked, chuckling asQueen Amber smiled.

"You can ask her yourself; she's here in the room. But since you confirmed it, I don't think it will be necessary," she said as I swallowed hard.

I immediately saw him scanning the room, hoping to find me, but the person who eventually saw me was the one I least wanted to see.

I took hold of William's hand as I saw the look my Father gave me. It wasn't the look a loving Father would give to his daughter.

Oh no, the look said, I need to ensure you don't talk. I looked away from him, hoping he would do the same.

"King Bailey, If I may," said a voice as we turned to see Queen Maya of Khaldoun stand.

"I think we can all agree here that a lot is going on here with not much evidence to support certain claims," she said as many agreed.

"I agree with that, Queen Maya. I suggest we take a small recess to think about the questions King Hugo answered," said King Bailey as everyone nodded.

"If we don't have any more questions, I suggest we dismiss for another day," said King Nicolas as many nodded.

"I second it," said King Louis.

"Me too," said King, Axel, and James as King Jared and Dominik nodded.

"Alright, 15-minute recess," said King Bailey. Everyone nodded, and we all stood up from our seats and began to walk around.

I walked with William, and from afar, I could see that my Father had disappeared, which relieved me.

"It's going good, Hugo," said GrandDad as we nodded.

"They don't have enough evidence to support that claim," Said Hugo as Sofia smiled.

"This will be easy to dismiss," said Sofia, smiling as we all nodded.

"Uncle Hugo!" Exclaimed a familiar voice as we all turned to see Charlotte running up and hugging him.

"Charlotte," said Astrid as she shook her head.

"I'm sorry. She's learning, though," added Astrid as Charlotte rolled her eyes and hugged Sofia.

"No need to, Astrid, she's amazing already," said Hugo as Sofia nodded.

"A unique princess indeed," said Sofia as King Axel came from behind smiling.

"That's what I keep saying," he said, smiling.

"How are you, Axel?" Asked Hugo as he smiled.

"Better than you, brother, but we can say that this is going to be an easy trial for sure," he said as we nodded.

"How are you, cousin?" Asked Charlotte, looking at William and me.

"Good, and you?" Asked William as she smiled.

"As you heard from Mom, what do you think?" She asked, smirking as the three of us laughed.

"William, King Magnus wants to see us," GrandDad said, nodding before looking at me.

"I'll be right back," he said as I nodded, and he left.

I looked at Charlotte, who seemed to be looking down at something confusing me.

"Charlotte?" I asked as she looked at me with joy.

"He finally did it?" She said with joy as I looked at her, confused.

"Did what?" I asked her as she smiled, rolled her eyes, and held my hand. It was then I realized she was talking about the ring.

"It's so pretty, and I'm sure the gesture was amazing, too, right?" she asked, smiling as I smiled and nodded.

"It was, and I love the ring; it's so pretty," I said as she smiled.

"It totally screams you," she said as I smiled.

"Thank you," I said as she nodded.

"Hey, I need to go to the 'powder room',as my Mom calls it. Do you want to come with me? " she asked me as I nodded.

"Sure," I said as we began to walk toward the lady's room.

We were close to reaching the door when I heard a familiar voice that made my whole body freeze.

"Rosalie, darling," said the voice as I saw my Father approaching us.

'Oh no! No, no, no!' I thought as I felt myself go into a panic. I wanted to run and escape him as fast as I could.

"Rosalie, isn't that your Father?" Asked Charlotte as I swallowed hard, and he approached us.

"Hello, darling. How are you?" he asked, smiling. I tried to talk but couldn't, so I looked at Charlotte.

"Hi, Dad. S-sorry to cut this short, but Charlotte and I are going to the powder room and…" I started, but he cut me off.

"I won't be long, darling, I promise," he said as I looked at Charlotte, and she smiled.

"Don't worry, Rosalie. I can go alone. Go talk with your Dad before we go back," she said as my body froze.

Once I saw her leave, I turned to see my Father giving me a look, which meant I was in trouble, and boy, was I right.

Quickly, he took hold of my hand, making me yelp slightly as he pulled me away where no one could see us.

I thought he would let me go right away. Instead, he pulled me harder, making me worried.

"What the hell are you thinking you are doing, Rosalie?" He asked, raising his eyebrows as I tried to escape his grip.

"Let me go!" I exclaimed, trying to free myself from his grip, but he tightened it, and I knew this was going to bruise me.

"Excuse me?" He asked, raising his eyebrows as I looked at him.

"I said let me go," I repeated as he smacked his hand across my face, making me fall to the ground.

"I leave you alone for a few weeks, and you begin to disobey me? Who the hell do you think you are?" He said, bending down to me.

"Huh?!" He exclaimed as he took my wrist tightly again before pulling me up.

"You follow my command! You do what I say, no questions asked," he said as I shook my head.

"No," I said as he chuckled, and I thrust my hand and broke free from his grip.

"No, I am tired of following your rules. I am not listening or going to follow your rules anymore," I said as he smirked.

"Don't challenge me, Rosalie. Remember the last time you challenged me?" he asked, smirking as I shook my head.

"I am not alone anymore," I said as he raised his eyebrow and chuckled.

"You think he cares for you because he gave you a ring? You are to be his wife, his property. Nothing more," he said as I shook my head.

"You are nothing more than a deal; he doesn't care about you at all," he said, walking around.

"You're lying," I said as he raised his eyebrow.

"Oh, am I? Answer me this: why did it take him to get you a ring? When you've been sold to him for weeks?" He asked as I looked at him confused.

"Sold? What are you talking about?" I asked him as he laughed.

"You really are clueless, aren't you, Rosalie? After the deal, he sent me men and crops; that's a business trade," he said.

"He bought you from the resources," he said as I shook my head.

"No, no, you're lying, you're lying," I said as he smiled.

"You are nothing more than a dumb, useless, dirty girl who was bought. A deal that was made, you are his property," he said, standing behind me.

I couldn't help but feel tears forming in my eyes as I felt my legs growing weak.

'could all this be true?' Before a tear fell, I thought and turned around, upset to face my Father.

"I don't believe you," I said as he looked at me, upset, but I knew he was faking it.

"Don't tell me, you made the mistake of falling in love with him Rosalie?" He asked as I avoided looking at him.

It was then that I felt my hair being slightly parted. I didn't need to look to see who it was; I knew it was my Father.

"He doesn't love you, Rosalie. Don't be a fool," he said as I walked away from him and crossed my arms.

"Even if that were so, I will never follow your rules again. Do what you want to me," I said, facing him upset, before turning around again with crossed arms.

However, before turning, I saw him smiling. I heard his footsteps getting closer to me, and he yanked my hand again to face him.

"Listen here, Rosalie, don't be a fool. Be a good girl and stop spilling details that could get us in trouble," he said as I rolled my eyes before looking at him.

"There is no us, just you. And I'm pretty sure it was you, wasn't it? Who sent the attack and is behind all of this!" I claimed as he chuckled.

"What on earth are you talking about, Rosalie? Are you sure you're feeling well?" he asked, touching my forehead.

"I swear, If you are behind this, I will put you behind bars!" I exclaimed, pointing at him before turning.

"William may not love you, but Celeste does like how I know you love her," he said as my eyes widened.

"Don't be a fool; be a good girl and listen, or she will have to pay the consequences," he said, tightening his grip on my chin as I pulled away.

"Don't you dare," I said as he interrupted me and pulled my arm harshly.

"Or what?" Asked my Father as I sighed.

"You have five seconds to let go of her before I rip your hands," said a familiar voice as I turned around to see William.

"Now, William, what have we talked about being nice to your future Father-in-law?" He asked as William raised his eyebrow.

"What have I told you about touching my Fiancé? She is my business, my property, and my headache. I am the one that deals with her, not anyone else," he said as I looked at my Father.

Within a few seconds, he let me go, and I looked at my Father with disgust and walked over to William.

"Alright then, William, if you insist," said my Father. As William nodded, King Bailey appeared.

"Come on, guys. Let's go. It's about to start," said King Bailey as we nodded and walked back.

As soon as we entered the room, I noticed many people sitting down.

While making my way, my Father was behind us, and as I was about to turn to take my seat, I heard him tell me something that didn't leave me at peace.

"Remember what I said, Rosalie," he whispered low enough for only me to hear as he took his seat.

Once we were all seated, King Bailey and the rest of the council retook the stand.

"After careful consideration, I have ended today's session on the lack of evidence. It's clear we do not have enough evidence to continue for today," said King Bailey as many nodded.

"We will adjure in a few weeks after we hear from Lady Malorie since we need her declaration before proceeding," he added.

"However, because you are on trial, your Highness, you will have to give up your kingdom rights, and if you fail to do so, you will be locked away in the cellars," he said as Hugo shook his head.

"No need, your Majesty. As of this morning, I am no longer in charge; my son Prince Edward is in charge," said Hugo, and everyone nodded except Lyvot.

"What? Your Highness, you cannot allow this mockery of you," said Lyvot as I rolled my eyes.

'Of course, he would say that to be on my Father's good side,' I thought as King Bailey shook his head.

"I don't see how King Lyvot? Prince Edward, isn't the heir to the throne and is getting suggestions from the queen and his GrandDad. The former king of Whelsire," said King Bailey as Lyvot stared.

"My decision is final. We will meet again in a few weeks. Meeting adjured," said King Bailey, and the council stood from their seats and walked off.

It was then that Hugo stood up from his seat as Sofia ran to hug him. I couldn't help but smile at seeing this.

Everyone knew the story of my future-in-laws very well and thought it was a dream come true.

"Now, we can go home," said Sofia as Hugo nodded.

"See, easy," added Hugo as we nodded.

"For the moment, since there wasn't enough evidence," Said GrandDad.

"There won't be any evidence to support any of this because that is not how things happened," said William as we nodded.

"Come on, let's go home," said Hugo as we nodded and headed towards the carriage.

As we walked, I took hold of Williams's forearm, and I couldn't help but look back slightly, feeling a pair of eyes stare at me.

However, I couldn't see anything, and if I'm being honest, I didn't really bother to look.

I couldn't stop thinking about what my Father said, 'Could it all be true? Was I nothing more than a simple deal to William?' I thought before feeling slightly upset.

'No, Rosalie, you cannot believe your Dad. He's lying, right?' I thought as I shook my head.

Once we were close to the entrance, I heard a familiar voice, which made William and I turn around, and I gasped.

"Hey, Rosalie. Long time no see," said Prince Eleazar as I smiled at him.

"Hi, Eleazar. How are you?" I asked as he smiled.

"I am doing well. So, I guess the rumors are true, and then you are engaged," he said as I nodded, looking at William.

"Yes, this is my fiancé. Prince William of Whelsire, William, this is Prince Eleazar from the kingdom of Aragon, King Lyvot's son," I said as he nodded.

"Pleasure," said Eleazar as he shook hands with William.

"Likewise," said William as I nodded.

"Sorry to keep it short, Eleazar, but wehave to go back. My family is waiting," said William as Eleazar nodded.

"Don't worry; I get it. It was nice to meet you. I will see you around, Rose," he said as I smiled and nodded.

"Bye, Eleazar," I said as he left. We headed back towards the carriage, neither of us saying a word.

If I'm being honest, I'm glad because I needed it. I needed time to think about everything that happened, and I was told.

Could this all be true? And if it was, why did he allow me to choose? Nothing was making sense.

I only knew that I was done listening to my Dad, but I worried about Celeste's was all alone at the castle, and I was afraid my Father might try to do something to hurt her.

At times like this, I wish I had my aunt with me; she would know what to do.

'Please help me, Aunt Lillian.' I thought as I looked out the window during the flight back home.
