"How the hell am I supposed to do this?" Antonia was up late doing her math homework. She had waited all weekend to get started without realizing there were many parts. Usually, someone would be happy to hear that their homework only has four questions. But no one likes homework that has questions broken into homework that really has 20 questions. She had spent the whole weekend with Jiya reading the stories for their composition class. They had gotten ahead and finished annotating the whole book. Antonia was very confident in her writing that she wouldn't have to worry about it too much about it. They had even taken a quiz over writing structures in which she passed without any hesitation. Antonia decided to put her math homework to the side and come back to it later. She took out her world history journal and finished the extra credit assignment Mr. Olson offered. The students were given the task to focus on an ancient civilization and discuss the pros and cons of living in a certain location. It didn't really take her long to write a short perspective of what her life would have been like if she lived in the rise of the Inca civilization. No phones? Boring. No air conditioning? Dreadful. Beautiful clothing? Talk about fashion. Gold jewelry? Worth living. She had spent the rest of the night looking up videos on how to solve her equations and finally decided that she was going to ask her teacher the next day at school for help. It had been a long Thursday and Antonia wanted to crawl in bed and forget about the world. It was already far into the school year (four weeks) when quizzes and tests were being administered. Antonia thought anything that required more effort than usual was too time-consuming and needed heavy prioritizing.
