"Hey, you're in my history class right?" Antonia looked up to see Jade standing in front of her. "Hey, Jade. How has your day been?" Wally asked her and she completely ignored him. Donna was talking about the amount of homework she did over the weekend and was interrupted by the girl. Antonia glanced at Donna then back at the girl, "Yeah, I'm Toni. Why?" Jade smiled and replied, "Oh, no reason. I just don't know many other people who grew up on the other side of the world. I was born in Vietnam but was then moved here to Cali when I was fourteen." Antonia thought it would have been awkward if she just ended the conversation if she had just said a quick response. "Oh, that's really cool. Yeah... I grew up back in London and spent some time in New Zealand." Jade then tilted her head and gestured her body to the boy with white hair across the room. "You know Samuel is also from London? He and his mom immigrated here... and he kind of stands out. People seem to judge him so quickly but he's actually really nice! You know… maybe you should try talking to him." Antonia looked at Sam thinking how she had been warned about his aggressive behavior. She remembered last weekend when she was at Walmart with Nicole and Rachel. He was in the hair aisle and looked repulsed at the sight of Rachel. She didn't know why so she had asked her but knowing she wasn't going to get much out of her. "It's nothing worth giving any attention." Later on, their friend Victor explained that Garfield and Samuel almost fought at the gas station over the summer. Antonia kept that in mind as everyone kept describing Samuel as having quick hands. Jade was carefully looking at Nicole and Donna then made eye contact with Antonia. "Yeah... maybe another time. I mean... I like his style. It's pretty cool and maybe we have a lot in common?" Antonia looked back at her sketchbook and closed it. "Yeah, I bet you guys would be great friends." Jade smiled and Jiya was making a weird face. "Thanks for the heads up." "Mmmhmm!" Jade nodded and walked back to her friends. Mal slowly leaned in towards Antonia in a way that made her giggle. "Jade is honestly worse than he is." Karen looked at him funny. "She barely shows up to school and yet has quite the reputation. It's just odd that she lies about the simplest things." Antonia then looked at Karen, "How so?" "Well for starters she's fifteen in her junior year. She's also been to the mental hospital twice in the past year." Nicole was softly whispering to her. Her eyes budged out of her head. "Why are you barely telling me this right now?" "In general, keep your distance from her." Nicole honestly should have kept Antonia updated about the people at school. Jiya had put her hand on Antonia's back. "Also, another thing… watch out for your hair if you let it down. She likes to keep souvenirs." Antonia snorted and thought her friends would laugh along with her but nobody responded. Even Joseph looked concerned when Jade was around. The bell rang and class began.
