Hello everyone! Thank you so much for the support so far I really appreciate all the reviews. I will leave an important note at the end of this chapter!
"Are you kidding me? What do you mean you don't know where she is? It's Thursday and she hasn't been here all week!" Isaiah looked at the punk and he gave him a straight face. "I don't know where she is, mate. It's none of my business to ask her." "Okay, but you can literally text her right now." Karen rolled her eyes before accepting defeat. Samuel was being interrogated by his group members on the whereabouts on Angelita. She had decided to skip class the following days after the incident with Karen and he was honestly ready to Walk out too. They both received a zero for the assignment and Angelita was furious when Mrs. Sanders declined her suggestion to do an alternative assignment. Karen handed Mal the work packet that the group had been working on. Isaiah took a good look at the punk and said, "How can you be so lazy? I honestly don't get it." The white-haired boy scoffed, "How can you be so self-absorbed? You think you're the only one fed up with this bullshit. We can never get anything done because queen bee here wants everything her way." He pointed his finger at Isaiah, "You've got a big mouth and a bad temper but won't say shit because you're scared of her." He then pointed to Mal, "And you just keep kissing her arse because she's your girlfriend!" Mal looked back at the teacher as she pinched the space between her eyes. She was tired of hearing arguments from the students.
Group one was always getting into arguments as they were always budding heads. Angelita did not want to be around her group members until they apologized to her. Samuel knew that wasn't going to happen and he accepted that the teens were just going to ignore his ideas. Group two was hit or miss as some people were absent pretty often. They did really well on the first project but only Dominic and a girl named Katherine were present today. Group three was having the time of their life (with the exception of Jade always trying to start something.) Antonia and Seymour got along really well when it came to group work. Jiya had always been the one to get all the dirty work done and Mikron made sure it looked good. They were pleased to get the assignments done and were getting praised by Mrs. Sanders. Jade, however, was just there because she had to. Antonia's group was always made to be the ideal example that the rest of the class had to follow. The class certainly enjoyed their presentations especially when Mikron and Seymour knew what to say to get their teacher to laugh. Antonia liked her group and thought that working with those few wasn't as bad as people say it is. Jade on the other hand wasn't all giggly and excited when they presented. She honestly disliked Antonia, thinking she was a spoiled rich girl with no motivation. She even told her friends that she thought Antonia was a shallow girl with an empty head. She didn't believe a word she would say when it came to her personal stories and even believed she was a total poser to being a goth. This was always getting shut down when Mikron would tell her that she was jealous. Group four was basically non-existent as the students never wanted to go up and present their work. There was always an argument between Selinda and Mrs. Sanders about her not being in the correct alphabetical group. The teacher accidentally missed her when forming the groups and had added her with the laziest students in the class. Group five was filled with some pretty hard-working people. Although William and Wally would bicker here and there, they were always on the right track. Nicole even was trying to lead them today and their work showed excellent results. It made her really confident to know that her classmates trusted her and wanted to let her know she could lead. Donna was happy to see Nicole work well with other people. She remembered meeting Nicole and seeing how much she wanted to please others. Always wanting their approval, even if she did people favors that wouldn't be returned. Especially since she and her father had issues, Donna was looking out for Nicole. This also gave the sweet girl the opportunity to be around Joseph. He really cared about her and wanted to make sure she was safe. Rose absolutely adored her, and he knew she was someone he could rely on.
At the end of class, each group turned in their packet and the teacher put them to the side. The classroom felt tense as two students left before the bell rang. Some students had already gotten up to line up at the door, but they were shocked when Mrs. Snaders began to yell. "GUYS! I am absolutely done with the lack of effort you are putting into this class. It seems like you don't even want to be here…" "We don't," Mikron responded and his posse busted into snickers. "Shut your mouth and give me the chance to speak!" The short boy turned red and sank into his seat. Mrs. Sanders walked from behind her desk and changed her tone to a softer one, "The grade that you will earn in this classroom is the grade you get. I am tired of seeing people fight. I am tired of seeing people turn in blank worksheets. I am tired of those skipping my class. And I am absolutely tired of those trying to run the class who don't know anything about what I am trying to teach." Antonia and Nicole looked at each other with scared expressions. Their teacher has never gone off on the class, let alone yelled at them. "Tomorrow things are changing. Don't expect to get comfortable here because that's not what it's meant for. This is a Forensic Science class. You do work and learn! I'm not here to be your friend. I am here to teach you." The bell rang and several students including Wally and Jiya stood up. "SIT DOWN UNTIL I DISMISS YOU!" The whole class had her attention and it seemed like she was about to cry. "I expect everyone to do better tomorrow or something is going to be forced to change. Make sure you look at our assignment list and you all have better started your projects for next week. Goodbye. NOW, you can leave." The whole class silently got up and left. Donna and Karen locked arms in the hallway. "Guys, I hope she doesn't quit before the year is over. She looks really stressed." A worried Isaiah looked at his friends and they too were concerned. Wally put a hand on his hip and huffed. "Well, we know it isn't my group that's causing drama, so it has to be those other people." "Aaaahhh!" Antonia's backpack got pulled on and she turned around to see Jade. "Wally's right. She was talking about you, Toni. You better watch your back." Antonia slapped Jade's hand away and her eyes went wide. Dominic and Seymour looked at each other in fear of having their posse ready to pull Jade away. "Wow…" Jade laughed off the hard smack and gave Antonia a grin. "I didn't expect you to do that." Antonia's eyebrows furrowed and she scoffed. "Don't do that mate. It's a nasty feeling getting dragged. Ya' understand?" Jiya looked a bit worried, and Mal pushed on Antonia's shoulder to get going. The goth walked with him to the fine arts hallway and Jade stood standing in the hallway. Samuel went off on her saying she should have expected that for putting her hands on her. Jade had already tuned him out and walked to her class with Dominic and William behind her.
It was so weird to Antonia that kids in public school were not respectful towards their elders and peers. They lacked manners and never had she seen people her age be so confrontational. In comparison to private school, if someone didn't like another person, they told them to their face and were ignored as much as possible. Yeah, an argument would start here and there but issues were handled with a good talk. Here in California, if someone doesn't like you, it would be their lifelong mission to remind you daily. Why couldn't people move on instead of holding a personal grudge? She saw how many people had these odd behaviors. The audacity these students had with their teachers was astonishing In Antnoia's eyes, some kids were total lunatics. She knew she would see different things from her usual school days, but this was definitely beyond what she expected.
The next day in class, there was a chart on the smart board. Everyone was assigned to a number and there were fewer members in each group. Antonia even saw that there were team captains and gasped when she saw who she would be working with. Seymour, William, and Samuel were in her group, and she was separated from her close friends. Karen looked at the girl and made a face. "Girl… you are stuck with a bunch of morons." Nicole slumped in her seat to see that she was separated from Joseph. She was the team captain of the three students who refused to present their work. "This is going to be absolutely torture." Nicole looked at Antonia and the goth sighed. "Are you fucking kidding me?" Jiya was going to be working with Dominic, Katherine, and Mal. "Thank God you're in my group, but I can't stand Katherine. She's so annoying and all she does is talk about her weird boyfriend." The students were complaining and upset about the new groups they were put in and Mrs. Sanders showed no mercy. The tardy bell rang and she closed the door. "Alright, everyone. Go ahead a take out a pencil. We are going to take some quick notes before we go to our groups." The class spent about 20 minutes going over important investigation questions to ask in a case then the students got up to work in their groups. Antonia stood next to her group members and felt a little out of place. William and Samuel were much taller than her. When she was wearing platform shoes, she would be the same height as Seymour. She could tell that her friends were not happy in their groups and wished that only those few groups were changed. "Now at your table, there should be a small stack of white paper. You and your group members will need to make a group contract on how you need to respect one another and what needs to be done during class." Angelita and Jade began giggling and talking over their teacher. Mrs. Sanders got closer to their group and they settled down. "Now I've noticed that if some people decide to not pull their weight, it's going to impact the whole group's grade. You need to learn to work together and be mature. You have ten minutes to make a contract for you and your group and it needs to be signed when the timer is over." Everyone turned to the group and began chatting. William grabbed a paper from the stack and took out his pencil giving his group a cheeky grin. "So what we doin' fellas… oh um… and Antonia." She looked at her peers who were also looking at her. Seymour took the paper from William and handed it to Antonia. "You're the team captain. I think you should be writing this stuff down." She grabbed the sheet from them and started listing numbers one through five. "We should start off with five rules then and more if we need to." The group then started naming basic things that are important to make sure they got along and turned in work on time. "For our sixth rule, it needs to say, 'Samuel needs to keep his shut.' You don't know it yet, but he starts too much." Seymour cackled and covered his mouth with William waiting for his reaction. Antonia thought that he was going to blow up but all he did was snort and smile. Antonia looked at the two then at Samuel not knowing what to write down. His smile faded and he stood up straight. The rocker was quiet for a moment then raised his eyebrows. "Let's try to keep the language down to a minimum. I've been needing to control my profanity." Antonia added the rule to their contract and William clapped his hands. "WOW! Sam my man! MUCH IMPROVEMENT. You want a cookie?"
