Antonia wiped the cotton ball against her nail. The smell of acetone filled the bathroom, her uneven nails stained red. She decided to go for a caramel color this time as she was trying to get into the fall mood. Anytime she was able to pamper herself, she took full advantage. She sang along to the music blasting from her laptop. "Hu-u-sh. Hush. Keep it down now… Voices carry…" She quietly sang to herself until she got another phone call. That damn caller was still bothering her. Yet now everything she answered, it was a girl giggling at the other end. It was always a different number every time now, and never during the same time during the day. A few minutes later, she got a call again and decided to ignore her phone. This went on for about an hour and she decided she wanted to turn it off before she went to bed. The screen lit up before ringing one last time and Antonia's heart stopped. It was Isaiah. "Oh my god!" She ran out of bed to look at herself in the mirror. He wasn't going to see her at all since it was just a phone call, but she still wanted to make sure she looked good. She grabbed the phone and softened her voice. "Hi Isaiah. Did you call me earlier?" She felt her face grow warm and she cupped her cheek. "Uh yeah I called you twice like twenty minutes ago, but you didn't pick up." She hit herself on the knee. "Yeah, I'm sorry love… I've been getting those prank call still and been ignoring my phone frequently. Did you need something of me?" She felt embarrassed for not checking her phone. But was she really to blame if she was still getting these spam calls? "Not exactly… but I did want to ask you a question." Her hands began to sweat and her lips trembled. "I know that exorcist movie you wanted to watch is coming out this week so I was wondering if you wanted to go out to see it and have dinner with me to Chilis? We can do it this week if that works with you.. Ya' know? I just want to get to know you a little better." Antonia was ecstatic to hear that he finally asked her out. She was ready to go to her closet to see what to wear. "Oh! Of course! I'm so glad you remember I said that. I have been waiting for that movie to be released since it was announced back last year." She giggled fantasizing about how their date could go. Maybe he was going to surprise her with roses? Or what if he asks her to immediately be his girlfriend? She was so excited and wanted the day to be their already. "Yeah! I remembered what you said and how bad you wanted to go. I mean what are friends for? Antonia put her phone on mute and screamed. Friends? "Is that what he thinks of me? We're just friends?" Antonia thought to herself and truthfully overreacted. Isaiah wanted to get to know her but he liked taking his time. The goth stood in her room shaking her head and pacing back and forth. She responded, "Oh, sure bloke. What time did you want to go together?" "I was thinking maybe around seventh thirty. Does that work with you?" Isaiah on the other side was panicking. Sure, he talked to Antonia a lot in between classes and at lunch, but he wanted to really see if they first saw each other as friends. He liked Antonia and didn't want to rush things to make each other uncomfortable. He knew she deserved to be treated well and he wanted to get to know each other better. "Yeah, that works with me mate." "Awesome. I'll see you tomorrow at school. Bye, Toni." "Bye." She sat down on the velvet loveseat at the foot of her bed. She thought he was going to ask her on a real date. Where they share secrets and finish the night holding hands or even a little kiss on the cheek. Antonia was the exact opposite when it came to relationships. She wanted to know if he wanted something serious. Yet, she knew his intentions were good.
