I really wanted to leave y'all on a cliffhanger in that last chapter, but I couldn't quite find a proper way to, and I didn't want to piss you guys off :) This is going to be a slight filler chapter. Let me know if you guys think I should include any other characters from Runeterra(I had the thought to replace Angela with Renata Glasc, but I think I like Angela too much for that. Also, I can't quite decide yet on whether or not I want Brom to be Connor's actual father, or maybe another character from Runeterra) or Alagaesia(Still not sure about Roran yet).
"Irelia? Good morning, sleepy." Her diamond eyes fluttered open, she saw Connor's face hovering over hers. She moved to sit up, only to be pushed back down by her forehead. "Doctor said you have to stay lying down."
"W-what happened?" There was a strong ache in her lower chest. "Is Murtagh okay?"
"Murtagh is fine now, you about killed yourself just to heal him. He's mostly fine, but his back is pretty messed up." She let out a sigh of relief.
"Have you slept yet Connor? You look exhausted." He blushed a little.
"I slept for a couple hours in here, only a few minor injuries to me, but we killed Durza." There was a severe look of doubt on her face.
"I seem to remember you being thrown against a wall so hard it cracked."
"Well yes, only some broken ribs. Durza always was a dirty fighter, but fortunately his sword throw wasn't as true a throw as he'd hoped. You survived by sheer luck, along with just about all the energy me and Thorn had." He hid from her just how panicked he had been when he'd seen her unconscious and bleeding, as well as the fact that he was practically dead. "I'm going to go for an hour or two and help finish clearing out the tunnels of urgals. You stay here and go back to sleep, I'll be back as soon as I can." He stood up, putting his helmet on, and walked out.
After a few minutes of laying there in thought, the door opened once more and someone entered. Almost immediately, the face of Angela the witch hovered over Irelia. "Wise one? When did you get here?" The small lady just laughed.
"I've only been here for two days, this last one which I've had to waste on you!" She said in a mocking tone. "You're lucky to be alive elfie. Your boyfriend there saved your life."
"My… boyfriend? Oh, Connor is-" Angela cut her off
"You should be safe to sit up now, it's going to be sore for weeks to come, but you'll live." Angela helped Irelia to sit up slowly. "So where's your knight in not so shiny armor?"
"He went to help clear the tunnels out. Why? Is everything alright?"
"Well he's very interesting, and I believe that nobody has properly healed him yet, so I'd like to make sure he won't die from stupidity. Last I saw him, he was carrying you out the dragon hold, he was pretty beat up. Covered in blood, not sure what was his and not, but I definitely saw one of his rib bones stuck through his armor." Irelia started to pale. Angela was talking about the injuries to her friend as if they were just another daily thing. Just as quick as she entered, Angela suddenly left.
As he blinked throughout the various tunnels under Farthen Dur, Connor thought back to when he regained consciousness. His eyes suddenly opened, "Irelia!" He looked around in a panic, a gut wrenching pain stabbing through his chest as he sat up. He looked down, seeing his condition and acknowledging that he couldn't go searching for her. That's when the witch came into his view, a short little lady with curly hair and a werecat following her around. "Good morning sunshine!" She sounded as happy as could be, even standing over a half-dead man. "Don't worry bud, the elf is being cared for, she will live." He sighed in relief, laying back down. As soon as he was on his back, the little witch picked him up! "Hey! What the fuck!?" She refused to respond and carried him along, and eventually he passed out again to the sound of her humming a familiar melody. When he woke up next, none of his bones were visible anymore, but no real repair had been done to him other than that. He had immediately got up to go searching for Irelia until he noticed her sleeping in an infirmary bed right next to him.
As he was lost in thought, he trudged his way through the tunnels many times faster than any other being could, killing dozens and dozens of urgals. After a couple of hours of mind-numbing killing, he eventually returned to Farthen Dur, his mission complete. He decided that he should probably walk around the camp, so as to not scare anyone with his abilities.
Right as the infirmary door that Irelia lay behind came into view, he saw Ajihad and a small group of warriors emerging from a tunnel together. He paused, a bad feeling in his mind.
Just then, an urgal came running out of the tunnel, somehow being almost completely silent despite its size. As it ran towards Ajihad, axe in hand, Connor blinked, hoping that he'd be there in time. He appeared right behind Ajihad, who was still clueless, and threw his arm up, blocking the axe swing and being knocked to the ground, a huge gash on his arm. Fuck. He hadn't refreshed the wards on his armor. That's not good. He couldn't help but stare at the pool of blood forming around him while the urgal was slain in the background.
Eh? Shorter chapter I know, sorry. A few things though: I wanted to save Ajihad, simply because I like his character(I still think Nasuada should lead the Varden though). I left out the twins because I never really thought they were very significant to the plot of Alagaesia(There will be a decent bit of stuff like this, just a warning). I also wanted Murtagh to be the one injured by Durza, as I think Connor's been through enough(What do y'all think about a chapter completely about his childhood?). I'm still pretty new to making fight scenes, so I hope they're alright. I will say that I don't care too much about the fighting scenes in this story, as to me it's more of a story about Connor and Irelia, as well as maybe some additional characters that I won't spoil. Enough yapping, thanks for reading as always, bye bye! 3
