No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?

Ch 15: Secrets Revealed

Lincoln lounged down in his seat on the couch, while Sammy had whitened out eyes. The 7-year-old was very angry, he really wanted to pummel Chandler and give him a taste of his medicine.

Lincoln made his efforts to calm Sammy down. "Sammy, don't mind Chandler, he's someone unimportant, I'll deal with him."

Sammy dispelled his rage, and laid back in his seat. "I'm still angry at Chandler for what he did to you…"

Henry and Valerie giggled to each other.

The 14-year-old daughter of the Emily family lovingly rubbed her younger brother's head, and gave him a few pats. "You're so protective of Lincoln, Sammy…"

Lincoln stood up and headed towards the door. "I'm going outside for a bit, see you in the evening."

The Emily father replied. "See you later."

With that, Lincoln headed out of the door. The Emily family then went about their business, after Lincoln left, Henry was hovering over the blueprints given to him by William last time, Valerie was cleaning the kitchen, Charlotte is in her room, doing teenage stuff, while Sammy is playing with his toy figurines.

Lincoln later arrived at Ketcham Park, he saw happy children playing in there, parents tending to their kin, and elderly people playing chess. The 11-year-old sighed and went inside the park, to find somewhere to take a breather in.

He walked around, and saw various people throwing their dimes into the wishing fountain.

Lincoln walked around to find a bench to rest on, that is until he ran into two people named…

William and Olivia Afton.

"Mr. and Mrs. Afton?!" Lincoln asked, looking at the Afton parents. "Is that really you?!"

William was equally surprised, he didn't expect to see Lincoln here at the park. His wife, Olivia, quickly took the boy in her arms and asked him.

"Are you alright, honey?" Olivia asked, worried. "Did your family hurt you?"

"I'm fine, Mrs. Afton." Lincoln said to the adult before him, as she let him go.

William shook the surprise off of his face. "Come on, let's go find a bench to sit on." He said as the other two followed him to a bench nearby. The trio sat down on the long bench, and looked at the late afternoon skies.

Lincoln looked up at William. "Mr. Afton? What happened a few weeks ago, when I was in the hospital?"

"I talked with your sister in the kitchen, and she sure owned up to it. She lost her game, because of 'bad luck'." William scoffed. "More like losing her game due to insufficient practice. I would never expect Junior of all people to lose a single game against the Lions."

"I see." The 11-year-old Loud shifted his position, leaning towards the Afton mother. "What did you do afterwards?"

"I sat there in the kitchen, just thinking about how the HELL had Lynn Jr. lost against those Lions." The Afton father explained. "I heard Joseph shout upstairs, Elizabeth and I came up to see what happened and we saw your room, devoid of any furniture. I called your stupid parents upstairs, and asked them why the loving HECK would they consider selling your furniture."

"I'm still pissed at some of them." Lincoln said to William. "I forgave only three of them, Mom, Dad, and Lori. Lily's off the hook, she's just a baby."

"That's nice." William said, his glare lightening a bit. "I slapped your parents, and Elizabeth was PISSED. She shouted at them, all the while, she was in tears. My daughter would never expect your family to do such cruelty to you."

Lincoln felt some sympathy for Elizabeth. "She was too young to find out about it…and so was C.C…" He turned to Olivia. "How about you, Mrs. Afton? What did you do when you found out?"

"I was in shock and in tears, when I found out about it." Olivia responded. "I was SO pissed, that I decided to go to your house and kick the door open. Your mother and I got into a fight when I saw your diary…"

"Wait, my DIARY?!" Lincoln said, surprised. "That's private stuff, why did you read it?!"

"Well, after Maria restrained me, I went up to the cabinet, and did the thing that I said earlier." Olivia replied to Lincoln. "I'm sorry if I destroyed your privacy."

"It's…alright, Mrs. Afton, just don't do it again." The 11-year-old said to the 42-year-old woman.

"I also saw one of your VHS tapes…" William confessed. "You were holding a lighter, and…"

"Yes, I made that VHS tape with some of Luan's blank tapes. Also, that lighter's not mine, it's Dad's, he doesn't smoke, but he uses it for lighting the fireplace, and candles during electric outages." Lincoln told the two.

"I thought it was yours…" Olivia said to the 11-year-old before her. "But still, an 11-year-old like you shouldn't handle flames. You're too young, and you might cause a fire`…"

"Come on, Mrs. Afton, Dad even let me cook some fish when we were in the woods." Lincoln chuckled. He looked at the sky, which was beginning to get dark. "It's time for me to go home, I'll see you tomorrow."

William and Olivia stood up and bid Lincoln farewell before parting ways.

Later that night in the Emily residence…

Valerie has fixed up dinner for tonight, she called the rest of the family and Lincoln to the dinner table. "Dinner's ready, everyone, let's eat!" Henry and the children came downstairs to eat.

They begin eating dinner, Henry, Valerie, and Charlotte are talking to each other.

"Oh, I ain't going to let that Romeo boy date my daughter." Henry said as he kept eating.

"Come on, Dad, he gave me a French kiss!" Charlotte sighed blissfully as she kept eating. "Oooh, I think we ARE meant to be!"

"Henry, you're the same when we're still in high school. You even danced with me during prom when we were 16." Valerie said to her husband.

"But still, I wouldn't let anyone date my daughter." The Emily father said as he kept eating, much to his wife and daughter giggling.

At the McCann residence…

Thomas and Lillian were talking to each other about Chandler and his notorious behavior.

"Come on, Lillian, he didn't want to invite that Lincoln kid to his party or something." Thomas said to his wife. "Good thing is, they had fun at that sewage plant."

"Oh shut it, Tom." Lillian said to her husband. "The party should be held somewhere instead of that sewage treatment plant. The chemicals there used to treat sewage were dangerous! I don't even know a lot about science, but what I know is that it's dangerous there!"

"They were in hazmat suits, so they're safe!" The man retorted stubbornly. "Chandler wanted the party there in the first place, so, we should abide by his preferences?"

"NO." The woman said, angry. "You should prioritize Chandler's safety above all else, it's perfectly fine if he's having fun, as long as he's away from any potential harm that can land him in the hospital, or even worse, his grave!"

Upstairs, Chandler was confined in his room while his parents argued, good thing, he had a telephone on his nightstand. The redhead dialed a certain Pingrey boy on his keypad, as he held the handset near his ear.

The dial tone rang for a few minutes, when Daniel picked up the phone.

"Hello?" Daniel said on the line. "Who is this?"

"It's me, Chandler." Chandler replied.

"Oh, it's you again, Tomato Kid." The Pingrey boy mocked. "So, how was the beating that Lincoln dished out to you a few weeks ago? I bet you didn't fight back and let yourself get pummeled!" He laughed.

The 11-year-old redhead rolled his eyes. "Alright, Danny, enough about what happened to me recently." He responded to the boy on the phone. "Say, I have a plan you would like to participate in."

"What is it, Tomato Kid?" Daniel asked, his voice carrying a mocking undertone.

"I'm going to plot a revenge scheme on Lincoln Lame." Chandler answered. "We're going to get his sister's enemy team to do the job for us, and if you participate, I'm going to give you $450 and seal the deal."

Daniel thought of it carefully, he always wanted some money for himself. If he pretended to side with Chandler, the redhead will negotiate with him, and then, he'll get the $450 all to himself. "Hm…that seals the deal. I'll negotiate with you, Chandler."

"Thanks again, Danny." The redhead smiled sinisterly. "I'll see 'ya tomorrow." He hung up, and so did Daniel.

At the Pingrey residence, Daniel smiled and rubbed his hands together as if he had sparked an idea in his head. His eldest sister, Carol came in and was confused, so she asked him.

"Daniel? Why are you smiling like that?" Carol asked.

"Oh, it's nothing, big sis." Daniel responded, interrupting his thought train.

Carol walked away wary of her brother's condition, she always knew that Daniel is always up to his shenanigans.

To be continued in Ch 16…
