No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?
Ch 16: Fragments of Trust
It was already sunrise, the sun greeted the neighborhood as it gradually rose up to the sky. Lincoln was sleeping. Once he felt the sun rays in his eyes, he got up and walked to the bathroom to freshen up early, careful not to wake up the other members of the Emily family. He closed the door and took off his clothes to take a bath.
The 11-year-old Loud got in the bathtub and turned on the shower, and pulled the curtains so no one would see him naked. Lincoln began to lather soap on his body, and washed it off carefully to kill and wash off bacteria that may cause odor. He wetted his hair and lathered some shampoo, careful not to get the hair care product in his eyes.
Once he was done, he turned the valve counter-clockwise, turning off the water supply. He got out and wiped himself with an orange towel. He puts on his underwear, jeans, and button-up shirt. Lincoln brushed his teeth before flossing, afterwards, he looked himself in the mirror before heading out of the bathroom. He looked at the time on the grandfather clock, and it was 5:40 in the morning.
He heard Henry and Valerie stir awake from their sleep. As such, he went downstairs slowly, careful to avoid creaky floorboards. Valerie woke up and yawned, standing up from her position on the bed. She only wore a white elbow-length duster for her pajamas. Going outside, she went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Lincoln was downstairs on the couch, reading the Ace Savvy issue he bought with the money Henry gave him yesterday. He flipped the pages, and he heard the shower running from upstairs. "Must be Aunt Valerie." He thought to himself.
Later, Henry woke up and took a bath as soon as Valerie got out of the bathroom. As the day dragged on to the morning, the Emily family and Lincoln were freshened up for the day.
Charlotte and Sammy sat down on the couch beside Lincoln after making their beds, while Henry was busy reading a book on computers and other technologies. Valerie was cooking up breakfast in the kitchen for the day.
Sammy peeked at what Lincoln was reading, while Charlotte turned on the TV to watch her favorite series, 'The Couple of New Orleans'.
"Breakfast, everyone!" Valerie called out to Henry and her children.
The Emily family and Lincoln were now eating breakfast for today, they were having roast chicken and baked potatoes, Lincoln's favorite. Lincoln was eating, and he had a smile on his face as he savored the baked potatoes in his mouth. "My favorite, thanks, Aunt Valerie!"
"You're welcome, honey." Valerie smiled warmly as she kept eating.
Later, they were done eating, and they put their plates on the sink. Charlotte washed the dishes, and Lincoln walked up to the front door and opened it before walking out and closing it again.
Lincoln was going to Cassidy's house, just 18 blocks away. 9 blocks down the road, some teenagers from the Hazeltucky Lions were following him from behind with their bikes, they raised their bats a few inches from his head when the 11-year-old Loud turned to see them.
"Why do you have a bat? And what are you going to do with it?" Lincoln raised his suspicions.
"Oh, some guy named Chandler made a deal with us." Steffan said to him. "He said he's giving us 500 bucks if we turn you into paste."
"Hey, there's no violence needed here." Lincoln raised his hands in defense.
"Come on, why don't you let us do the job? 'Sides, it's not like we'll pummel you or something." Dewford said, raising his bat. "Seal the deal?"
"No!" Lincoln said as he slammed Dewford into a trash can stunning him. The other teenagers charged at him, one got him and threw him on a lamppost. The force that came with hitting the lamppost stunned him and dealt little damage to his spine, as he got up afterwards and charged at them.
Later, a certain 13-year-old hits Steffan on the head, knocking him out.
"Wait, is that his sister from the Royal Woods Squirrels?" Louis said, dropping the dazed Lincoln on the ground.
"If you're going to get my brother, you'll have to cross me first!" Lynn Jr. said, raising her bat. "Who's next?!" She said as Dewford got up from the trash can, and a few flies were dancing on his head.
"Get her!" Dewford yelled as he and his other teammates charged at Junior, but when they charged at her, she did a backflip; they stopped and hit each other from behind, piling on top of each other. Lynn Jr. hits Dewford on his head, making him angry and charge at her along with the other teammates.
Steffan retaliates by hitting Lynn Jr.'s leg, making her fall to the ground. Patterson took this as his chance to make his move on her. They piled up on her, but she managed to get them off of her. Lincoln got back up and charged at Dewford, blocking his view so as to make him fall into a trashcan.
Lynn Jr. and Lincoln were cornered by the remaining teenagers, since Dewford was already knocked out. Terrance made his move, but Lincoln took the second move on his balls; the teenager held the area that defined his gender in pain as he fell to the ground. Lynn Jr. made her move on Patterson, he managed to hit her stomach, but she retaliated by kicking him in the face, knocking him out.
Only two teenagers were left, and they charged at Junior and Lincoln. Lynn Jr. and Lincoln grinned at each other, before doing a backflip and befuddling their enemies.
"Where have they gone?!" Frederick said, looking around the area for Lynn Jr. and Lincoln.
Simon did the same, scattering around the area until he felt a strong blow on his back. He fell down to the ground, as Lincoln made his move on Frederick. The 11-year-old Loud was then dealt with blows to his stomach, before being thrown onto a window, rendering him comatose.
Lincoln slowly seeped into a comatose state, before closing his eyes. Lynn Jr. watched as her brother set into deep slumber, then she angrily took on Frederick by herself, knocking him out.
At the hospital…
Roberto and Lori were there, comforting an angry Lynn Jr. Henry and Valerie came into the scene, with Charlotte comforting a crying Sammy.
Sammy fought his way out of his big sister's arms. "I want to see Lincoln! Let me go!" He sobbed.
"Hombrecito, he's in the emergency room, and the doctors are doing everything to heal him." Roberto comforted the 7-year-old, while giving.
Charlotte sat down and struggled to hold her younger brother in place. "Sammy…the doctors are doing something on Lincoln…"
Later, a doctor came with a small smile on his face.
"How is he, doc?" Lynn Jr. asked.
"He's doing fine, but he had to wear stitches on his back, the glass shards did a number on him." He explained.
"Oh, dear…" Lori said, worried.
They tentatively walked into Lincoln's room, and they saw him on his hospital bed. Sammy rushed to Lincoln's bedside, while sobbing. Lincoln patted the younger boy's head, comforting him.
"Dammit, it's Chandler again, isn't it?" Henry said, cracking his knuckles.
"It is, that little redhead bastard won't keep his hands and feet to himself." Lynn Jr. explained.
"We'll press charges on his parents." Valerie said, crossing her arms. "No wonder he's so notorious."
