No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?

Ch 19: Cleaning Out the Bad Memories

Lincoln was free from the hospital after a few weeks, seeing that his injuries have healed and the stitches were absorbed.

His parents already divorced, his mother was slapped with jail time. It's a good thing they were having fun abroad.

Boy, Henry and Valerie were still pissed at Chandler for taunting Lola in the first place.

Why did Chandler even exist anyways? If his only purpose is to tick off people around him? I know Chandler's name, has left a bad taste in some people.

Sammy wanted to give Chandler a nice, swift punch to his face, it was now clear to him that the redhead only lived to cause trouble to his folks.

Poor Chandler, his friends left him after that one fight; it became clear to them that they were going to regret crossing Lincoln's boundaries, even if it involved mocking one of his younger sisters.

"Alright, Sammy." Lincoln said, chuckling. "We don't want any of that violent energy coming from you, you're just a young child."

"Of course, you're just seven, sport." Henry said to his son, removing his beanie and ruffling his hair.

"Fine, but if any of his comrades dare approach you, I'll give them a taste of their own medicine." Sammy said, cracking his knuckles.

Henry laughed as he lifted Sammy into his arms. "Looks like you've got a protector now, Lincoln." He said, stifling a chuckle. The Emily father pats his youngest child on the back.

Sammy cuddled up to his father, clinging to him with all the strength his small arms could muster. Valerie's eyes sparkled with adoration at the scene, Charlotte's blue gray eyes glistened in the sunlight as she looked at her father and younger brother. This moment was sweet and heartwarming to her eyes, Lincoln started getting memories from the previous years.

January 1967

A 4-year-old Lincoln and his father Lynn Sr. were camping in the forest. They were seated at a bonfire they set up earlier, Lincoln and Lynn Sr. got out some marshmallows, skewed them on sticks, and roasted them above the flame.

Lincoln ate his roasted marshmallows. "This is delicious, Dad! Can we make some for Mom when we get home?"

Lynn Sr. chuckled softly. "Alright, son, I'm sure she'll love it!" He smiled warmly.

"Yes, Dad!" Lincoln said, his eyes sparkling in happiness.

March 1972

9-year-old Lincoln and 11-year-old Lynn Jr. were playing soccer in the backyard. Lincoln was the goalie, while Lynn Jr. was the one who will kick the ball. Lynn Jr. explained the basics of soccer to Lincoln.

"Alright, Lincoln." Lynn Jr. said, ready to kick the ball. "Catch the ball!"

Lincoln steadied himself, and as the ball almost hit the net, he caught it with his hands. Lynn Jr. was proud of her brother. "Good job, Lincoln!" She smiled warmly.

Lincoln smiled and puffed out his chest proudly, their 15-year-old sister, Lori Loud, watched them from afar. She smiled warmly and giggled to herself.

The flashbacks ended with a bang. It goes back to the present, Lincoln looked up at the skies that were now painted in purple and orange hues. The sky reminded him of the fun times he had with his folks, he smiled sadly.

"I miss my family…" Lincoln said, as Henry puts Sammy back on the ground. Valerie turned her gray eyes to look at him, and Charlotte smiled warmly.

"You miss your family, Lincoln?" Henry asked the boy.

"I do, Uncle Henry," Lincoln said, looking at the older man in front of him. "yes, we may have our ups and downs, but we loved each other to the bottom of our hearts."

Valerie puts a hand on her chest. "Aww… maybe sometime, you'll go back home?" She smiled.

"I will, and I think it's time we move on from today's problems." Lincoln said, he turned to Sammy. "I'll miss you, Sammy. I really hope we'll meet each other again, someday…"

Sammy grips Lincoln's leg tightly, tears welled up in his tightly closed eyes. "I'll miss you too, Linky!"

Lincoln laughed heartily. "No, Sammy, no…" He said between laughs. "I'm…I'm not leaving just yet, I mean, I've forgiven some of my siblings who did me dirty recently, but I'm still pissed at Lisa, Luan, Luna, and Lucy…Lily's off the hook, she's just an infant."

"Why so?" Charlotte asked, pouting.

"Lisa was the brains of the Loud family, especially since she had to know better than to believe in fallacies based on superstitions. Luan was always joking around; whenever you try to have a serious discussion, she just makes your blood boil by going off-topic and always telling jokes to people, especially the ones that taunt a person." Lincoln admitted.

"Your siblings are so mean, what else did they do?" Sammy asked Lincoln.

"Of course, Luna makes us go deaf by blaring her music at full volume. In one scenario, she snatched my Noise-B-Gone earbuds and played her speakers at full volume. I was deaf, and my other siblings are deaf too. Dad became partially deaf, the same went for Mom. About Lucy, let's say that it was partially her fault for clogging the toilet one time and my sisters decided to point their fingers at me!" The 11-year-old Loud confessed. "Mom and Dad blamed me too, and I got grounded, for no damn reason!"

Henry shook his head while clicking his tongue, showing disapproval of the Loud sisters' behavior. "Tch. Sometimes they really need to be taught a lesson. They must gather evidence before accusing a person, or it will lead to what is considered imprudence."

"Imprudent and selfish, those are the words to describe them." Valerie added, showing distaste of the Loud sisters' traits.

"I agree…" Lincoln nodded.

At the Emily residence. . .

Lincoln was reading comics on the couch, every flip of the pages relieved his brain. He smiled as he kept reading, Sammy was watching television. Charlotte sat on the armchair, texting her soon-to-be boyfriend on the phone. She blushed and giggled as Romeo replied to her texts.

Henry decided to let her be, he knew that it was the same with Valerie when they were teenagers. He smiled as he saw Charlotte text Romeo, he knew that he will be the next to look after his daughter when he and Valerie grow old.

Lincoln closed his comic and pulled out the present that Lana and Lola gave him a few weeks ago on May. He looked at the photos, and it reminded him of good times. Sammy peeked to see what Lincoln was looking at, he smiled warmly at the photos.

"You had good times with your sisters back then, Linky." Sammy smiled at the 11-year-old.

"I agree, Sammy, I agree…" Lincoln said, closing his album.

To be continued in Ch 20…
