No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?

Ch 20: The Road to Reconciliation

[Lincoln's P.O.V]

I closed the album my twin sisters made for him as a present, I reminisced all the good times I had with my family before all of this bullshit started because of one game. I smiled and looked outside the window, as if my family were outside waiting for me.

Indeed, I missed those days…those days of good times when me and my family were happy living together. But now, look what happened, we were torn apart by the deceit of destiny and web of lies. I didn't act all hostile towards Lynn anymore since we got along now.

A knock was heard on the door, I got off the couch and opened it to see Michael and his family waiting outside. "Come in, Mr. and Mrs. Afton!" I smiled as I opened the door wide open for them to come in. I looked on as they entered the house.

Sammy went up to Elizabeth and hugged her. "Sister Lizzy!"

"Sammy!" Elizabeth said, hugging Sammy back.

Charlotte turned off her phone and saw C.C. standing behind Michael, she smiles warmly and goes up to him. "Hello, Joseph, you're so cute, aren't you?" She tried to touch him, but C.C. moved away from her.

"Still the same kid he was back at Hurricane, isn't it?" Charlotte said, her face pouting.

"Yeah, he still is." Michael chuckled as he rubbed C.C.'s head. He clung to his older brother, adamant on letting him go. Elizabeth played with Sammy upstairs, and I laid back on the couch to read my comics.

[Henry's P.O.V]

I told William and Olivia to sit down on the couch as Valerie took care of things in the kitchen, I sat down with them as well. Olivia was the first to talk. "How is Charlie doing?" She asked, as she pulled Lincoln close to her as if he was her own child.

"She's doing fine." I replied to her. "She has a crush on this Romeo kid or something."

William chuckled. "That's natural teenager stuff, Henry." He smiled wide. "She's 14, but as long as Romeo isn't objectifying her, that's fine."

Lincoln was too focused on reading his comics to even listen to our conversation. "Alright, alright, I get that now." I told my best friend.

"Anyway, how's Lincoln doing?" William said as he gestured to Lincoln.

"He's doing fine, and he said that he was planning to go back to his family after a long time." I said as I poked Lincoln's shoulder. "Can you show me the gift your sisters gave to you?"

Lincoln closed his comic and gave me the gift his twin sisters had given him; it was a photo album, I showed it to William and his wife, I said to them. "Here, look what's inside."

[William's P.O.V]

Olivia and I opened the album and flipped through the pages, it was full of photos of Lincoln and his twins. The first one was Rita showing the infants to Lincoln upon returning from the hospital.

"Lana and Lola were so adorable as infants…" Olivia said as Elizabeth came to see what we were reading. Michael and C.C. were curious too. We looked at another picture, one of which was Lincoln looking at his two infant sisters from the crib.

Elizabeth was adored, but still, she still couldn't shake off the fact that Lincoln's family did bad things that were beyond forgiveness. It was the same with Joseph and Michael.

[Michael's P.O.V]

I looked on as Father pointed at various pictures in the mini-album, I smiled and thought. "My lil' bro had some very good times back then, did he? But still, I couldn't shake off the fact his family used him for 'good luck.'"

Father flipped the pages, and we saw a picture of a younger version of Lori spoon-feeding Lincoln his first ice cream. It was adorable, if I were to give my opinion on the picture. Liz and Joseph were also adored, they loved witnessing moments like these. Mother's lush green eyes looked over the pages as she looked at the pictures.

We saw another picture of Lincoln in the woods with his father, it warmed our hearts like hot chocolate on a cold snowy night. I didn't know why Lincoln's family sold his furniture and made him wear a mascot in and out 24/7 just for some good luck.

Father closed the album and gave it back to Lincoln, he said. "Here, it looks like you had some good times back then. What happened?"

"My sister got angry over her loss and blamed me for my 'bad luck.'" Lincoln admitted. "We're on good terms now, I'm still making some arrangements for me to go back to my (real) family."

"That's good news." Mother smiled warmly at him. "You're finally making amends with your family."

"Thanks, Mrs. Afton." Lincoln returned the same. "I know I have someone to look up to when things are getting rough."

Mother replied. "Oh, thanks, Lincoln." Her face lightened up in joy.

Father smiled and chuckled at the light-hearted moment. "How sweet…" Uncle Henry looked on with a heartfelt smile on his face.

The next day (Charlotte's P.O.V)…

It was a new day, I woke up thanks to Mom opening the curtains. Groggy, I went downstairs to make myself a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Afterwards, I went to the bathroom and changed into fresh new clothes. Not going to lie, I feel like I was going to miss Lincoln even though he confessed he was still making arrangements for him to go home.

I saw him on the sofa with Sammy, reading a comic. I sat down beside him, silence filled the room for 30 peaceful minutes until I called out. "Lincoln?"

"What is it, Charlie?" Lincoln answered. "Do you need something?"

"You're going home eventually, aren't you?" I asked him.

"I am, but I'm still deciding whether to forgive all of my sisters." He replied. "Why so?"

"Just wanted to tell you that I'll kinda miss you." I said, blinking away my tears. "You've been like a cousin to me all this time, you know?"

Lincoln smiled. "I know, but sometimes, sometimes, you'll need to set things straight with the ones who have wronged you greatly."

I wiped my tears away and nodded in agreement. "I get it, your family may be a pack of morons but they will do anything to make amends with you, even if what they did was beyond forgiveness." I said.

"That's right, Charlie." Lincoln replied.

In the afternoon…

The sun was dwindling down the horizon, I was on my phone when a knock on the door made me jump out of my seat. I opened it to see…

"R-Romeo?" I said, feeling my cheeks flush. "It's a pleasure to meet you, what do you need from me?"

"Hey, Charlie." Romeo said, his eyes locking with mine. "I came here to give you something." He said, holding out a box of chocolate. "I hope you'll like it…" His cheeks grew warmer every second.

I took the chocolates from him, and I was overjoyed. I hugged him tight and said. "No, Romeo, I LOVE IT! Thank you so much!"

Romeo smiled and hugged me back. "Thanks…"

"Come in!" Mom said, coming into the living room. I took Romeo inside, and we laid down on the couch.
